Reviews for Appart’hôtel Victoria Garden*** Bordeaux
Review 1:the cleanliness not that much they dont clean the floor only change towels! NOTE: the receiption has hours time if you plan to come late you should write to the hotel and they will give you the instructions how to get in the hotel.
Review 2:the location is so good near to place de la victoire( 6 min walking). the staff is friendly.
Review 3:We order a double bed, and sadly when checking in they inform us that they had only twins left.
Review 4:The Parking was very good and secure; we arrived late in the evening and the method to get us in is excellent.
Review 5:There was no kettle in the room although there was some instant coffee provided by the hotel and all the pictures of the rooms on the website show a kettle is to be provided. The hairdryer in the bathroom did not work and when I requested another one I was provided with a broken one which blew only cold air and bits of plastic had fallen off of it, making it not look particularly safe to use.
Review 6:The bed was comfortable and the rooms were quiet as the hotel is a short walk from the main road.
Review 7:The room was a bit dirty, my toddler ended up with black feet just by running in the room without slippers....
Review 8:I liked the friendly staff, the convenience of having a microwave and the location
Review 9:Noise from the car park late at night and early morning seemed like car spaces were hired out! Staff appeared to have trouble to even look up and smile.
Review 10:The fact you couldn't check in until 4.30pm or even drop your bag off as the shutters were down on the reception, it said this on our booking confirmation but we didn't check as assumed you would be able to drop your bag off at least, it was raining and we had to wait 3 hours walking in the rain with our bags, there was a secure box that looked like you could have told the hotel ahead if you were out of hours again we didn't know this, so an email before the stay to check your arrival time would be helpful
Review 11:The location was walking distance to the shops/bars, unfortunately seems like the worse side of the shopping (market style clothes shops)
Review 12:Shower head was broken (but bath etc was all fine).
Review 13:Handy location- approx 10 minute walk to Victoire and Rue Saint Catherine - worth taking the Line 1 bus from the airport as this will drop you at Victoire rather the Gare Saint Jean. Self- catering facilities were a bonus- gave us the option to have breakfast/ dinner in. Wifi connection was good, bed was clean and comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 14:"Kitchen" a joke, breakfast served leftovers and did not replenish, toilet paper scarce as were towels
Review 15:Located close to where we wanted to be
Review 16:The part of the hotel we were staying in was not locked at night. This made me feel worried as we had our children in another room.
Review 17:The room was a walk into Bordeaux (albeit a route we walked quickly at nighttime!) and there was parking on site.
Review 18:The walls was made like from paper, but it bothered only when you were not fell asleep. So it wasn't big problem.
Review 19:The stuff was extremely helpful, spoke very good English. Location was ok, ca 10 minutes to walk to Victoria Sq (bus, tram connection).
Review 20:The breakfast could be better.
Review 21:I have stayed at this hotel four times now and it is always clean and hospitable. Parking is easy considering you are in a city and the hotel is within easy walking distance of the centre of Bordeaux.
Review 22:Victoria Garden offers quiet rooms in a back yard in the center of Bordeaux. It is nice to have a kitchennette with a kettle to boil water, nescafé and tea bags in the room. The railway station is within 20 min walking distance, Victoire within 5 min.
Review 23:Despite there's a code to open the main door outside working hours- the door was permanently open- not fully protected.
Review 24:Very decent appart hotel. Location- very good. Helpful, responsive and friendly staff. Clean. Comfy bed.
Review 25:Bed comfortable but pillows rubbish. Lots of problems in bathroom, loo roll holder off wall, plug in bath and basin broken, shower hose stand broken and shower just lying in bath. Room not serviced despite us being out from 9.30 till 3.00 and 5.30 till 10.45pm. Room generally shabby and definitely not 3*
Review 26:Secure access. Quiet room surprisingly surrounded by trees. After complaining that we were only given a standard room, not the superior one we booked and paid for we were offered a refund of the price difference and our parking charge by polite and helpful staff.
Review 27:This Appart-hôtel is rather austere and soulless and reminded us of a youth hostel. The rooms were OK but of the three rooms we booked for our family group, two of them had shower rails over the bath but no bracket to fix the shower to!! The location leaves a lot to be desired and is in what must be one of the most run-down areas of Bordeaux with boarded up shops and filthy pavements - not a pleasant walk to the Centre (15+ mins walk)
Review 28:Plenty of parking. Pleasant Reception area and helpful staff. Fluffy towels and white bed linen. Clean.
Review 29:The room was dirty, full of hairs in the blankets, On the floor; TV screen was dirty, bathroom was dirty.
Review 30:Private Parking, even if it was not included in the cost.
Review 31:Utilities not clean, did not even have a cup of coffee, left room keys in safety box with no access to get in to box.
Review 32:Staff was courteous, left keys in safety box for room for late arrival, close to city
Review 33:Key card required to enter hotel's own parking prior to being able to check in
Review 34:Friendly staff, very comfortable bed, baby cot provided, kitchenette with fridge and microwave, wifi included
Review 35:Late night access after 10pm, this would be difficult if you loose your card or pin code no staff on site that we could after 10pm. Area is quite run down, but fortunately only a 10 minutes walk to Victory square. Local eateries at this end of bordeaux limited, unlike other end of bordeaux where menus and restaurants are many and often cater for non frech speaking visitors.
Review 36:Very comfortable bed. Good size room. Good parking underneath apartments. Friendly staff. Good A/C. Excellent wifi included in price.
Review 37:The parking is too expensive, and I recomend to choose the hotel closer to the center
Review 38:very clean room with a lot of space. The staff was very nice, they left the keys and instructions for self check-in as we arrived late at night, the breakfast was good
Review 39:Air conditioning was fixed to 22C, the quilt was not breathable so it became hot and sweaty during the night; if windows were open, more than 10 mosquitoes would invade. We were bitten heavily as a result. The bed wasn't comfortable either.
Review 40:Steady and fast wifi, friendly staff, spacious room, huge parking onsite, secure gate.
Review 41:The shower did not function when this was mentioned at reception we were informed it was the same on all rooms
Review 42:Excellent parking facilities and access from the motorway
Review 43:The room was uncomfortable with very little room to hang any clothes ( only 3 coat hangers for 2 people on a 3 night stay )
Review 44:The staff were friendly and helpful
Review 45:Air con didn't work on a night it was 40 degrees. Dated and in need of a refurb. Shower over the bath was pointless as no where to fix the shower on the wall.
Review 46:Staff managed complaint with air con by waiving the €12 parking charge for two nights. Spacious room.
Review 47:Though we had a good room, it was near the kitchen and breakfast room which was noisey in the mornings. The neighbourhood isn't great, but we've stayed there a couple of times and it's ok for us.
Review 48:Clean rooms, safe parking, very good staff and budget costs if you book via various sites. This hotel is ideally located for us as we need to be near Place de la Victoire. It is also 10 minutes walk to Place Nansouty which has a post office, green grocers, a really good baker etc. This hotel is not near the centre, but there are trams at Victoire, there is Rue St. Catherine for all the shopping etc.
Review 49:Clean, basic facilities, though the decor was a bit tired. Reasonably priced, secure parking. Friendly, helpful staff. Would use it again which is the main thing.
Review 50:The staff did everything they could for me, really put themselves out to help. My room was large, clean, warm, light quiet and comfortable. breakfast was copious and a huge selection.
Review 51:The entire place smells like cigarrettes! Even though it says nonsmoking, the entire apt smelled of it! My family woke up to stuffy noses and allergies! Payed too much for this place, not worth it.
Review 52:One positive, The staff were Very nice. However, The Room Was not The best - not for what we payed for.
Review 53:WiFi was pretty useless. Could not get email, only surfing the web available. My wife had an exchange with one female member of staff which was pretty unsavoury.
Review 54:Bed was large
Review 55:- Not very tidy not because of clean service but because it's an old place, stuff doesn't suffer to be clean again and again. - No noise isolation: earplugs mandatory - Wifi so bad you can't get your email
Review 56:- The size of the room - The quality of bed - The bath tub - The location close to La Victoire
Review 57:It was a little cold. my internet was almost disconnected. Possibly because of the room location, end of the corridor. my flight was at 7 am, so I left hotel at 5:30 am. I had talked to the reception in advanced about it, but in the morning the exit door was locked and I was about to miss my flight!! I called to the emergency number of hotel to ask what should I do, but when I started to speak English, he hanged up!
Review 58:It is an older facility with some equipment quite marginal or not working (e.g. bedside lamp); for that reasons I was not game enough to use the kitchen facilities !
Review 59:This is indeed a very good location - short walking distance to Bordeaux University with the surrounding bars and restaurants - plus very near other sightseeing locations; easy to find location with good parking
Review 60:Liked everything, good value for money. The friendly, super helpful and sympathetic staff went out of their way to help us in a difficult situation (which was completely unrelated to them or the hotel). Merci beaucoup. You rock!
Review 61:Lack of kitchen items, the ones available needed a good wash before I could use them. Nowhere to put wet crockery only on electric hob (dangerous) Floor was a bit gritty
Review 62:Friendly staff, good bathroom. Critical comments only given so minor improvements can be made as generally it was good.
Review 63:Lacking touches. Such as: One bedside lamp did not work, the other had broken shade. The light switch above the bed did not work. The shower head bracket had broken and washing your hair while holding the shower head was tricky. The loo roll holder had been broken and not replaced.
Review 64:It wasn't far to places to eat etc. Good price for the stay. Fairly clean. The window opens unlike a lot of hotels.
Review 65:The hotel is stark and a quite ugly inside, though clean. It is a short walk to the centre of Bordeaux but the area is a bit rough.
Review 66:Good place to stay if you are travelling through Bordeaux and have a car as there is a large parking area. We travelled with a dog and there were many other guests with dogs. The reception staff were friendly and accommodating.
Review 67:Refrigerator did not work Nowhere to put shower head No holder for toilet paper No dishcloth Remote for TV didn't function (staff provided new batteries, but remote turned out to be wrong mark - so told staff - who were willing to look into the matter - I could use my phone for a remote).
Review 68:Clean place, friendly staff. OK price.
Review 69:Hardly any cutlery provided - no cups and saucers, despite there being coffee and kettle provided. No spoons at all and no cereal bowls.
Review 70:Quiet location, despite only being 10 minutes walk from the city centre. Very good bathroom, with full size bath and plenty of hot water.
Review 71:the hotel is situated in a area where the building are in a very bad stage. nothing to do with the pictures. the walls are very thin, you can hear any noise but there is no phone connection for the mobile.closing door at 10:00. rooms with parquet, not to clean
Review 72:there is a clean bad and the employees are nice
Review 73:Although the appartment is supposed to be for three people there was a limited supply of crockery ( 1 cup) Its a little way out of the city centre but a nice walk into the centre. I was a little nervous walking back to the hotel in the dark one night but I could have easily got the tram.
Review 74:Spacious appartment with view of the city, comfortable bed.Bordeaux is a lovely city which is easy to walk around, we found a great Asian restuarant in one of the squares which opened at 7pm we had seen it the day before and it was packed with people eating. The food is amazing and after being there for 10 minutes the restuarant was packed with diners and there was a queue for take away meals too.It was a great find I would suggest looking at restuarants in the little back street squares there are some really good ones.
Review 75:All good
Review 76:Good location ,good price and lots of room in apartment .ideal as a stop over although not luxurious this place is perfect for a one or two night stay.only 5 min walk from start of tourist route .
Review 77:Apart from mosquitoes during the night all was excellent. Thought the petit dej/breakfast at 10€ was expensive although I didn't check out what was on offer.
Review 78:Well appointed with all you could need for a few days stay.
Review 79:A bit far from town, but trams worked well. Shower head attachment was missing causing slight inconvenience.
Review 80:Friendly staff made us feel very welcome. Good to have microwave & fridge. Wifi was very good. Everything worked and we enjoyed our stay.
Review 81:The staff spoke perfect English, very friendly, booked taxi for me for the airport. When I emailed them before my arrival with a question they got back to me straight away. The hotel was clean and had all the facilities needed for a great nightly rate, breakfast was extra but worth it. Location might not be the best if walking alone late at night. Hotel near tram and then only 4 stops to city centre or you could walk. Bus into city straight across the road. Overall would highly recommend. I had 2 kids an 8 and 5 year old.
Review 82:Great location! Good quality for the price.
Review 83:Bathroom a bit tatty. Not the classiest of areas!
Review 84:A 10 minute walk from Bordeaux shops, sights etc
Review 85:Helpful staff
Review 86:The shower with intermittent hot water
Review 87:Bed comfortable
Review 88:Good location a short walk from the centre. Spacious room. Friendly staff.
Review 89:Streets are a bit dodgy but bearable
Review 90:Relatively close to station Nice room with small kitchen area
Review 91:The room was clean and very functional. The location of the hotel is good because it is close to the train station.
Review 92:Not open during the afternoon for check in
Review 93:Good for money
Review 94:parking hard to enter. room not as clean. thin walls. ok for a stopover but couldn't stay for more than a day
Review 95:good location
Review 96:Very good
Review 97:The wifi worked badly, and the appartment wasn't as central as hoped
Review 98:Calm and quiet, with confy beds and good bathroom
Review 99:Helpful staff. Comfort room and bad. Also clean. The location is 10 min. from old town.
Review 100:5 mins walk from town centre
Review 101:Clean. kindness. Safety. facilities all good.
Review 102:Too old, too much family residence
Review 103:Poor quality kitchen utensils and cooking pots. Broken shower fixture. Broken toilet seat
Review 104:Location and quiet room. Good WiFi.
Review 105:slightly dated room, high cost as we took last room in emergency and had to pay 150 E
Review 106:staff helpful and always made effort
Review 107:Nil
Review 108:The staff in all areas where very helpful and welcoming, the dog was not a issue which we where concerned about
Review 109:location, friendly staff, good breakfast. Late arrival isn´t problem, you get access codes.
Review 110:Stopped over one night on the way through from uk. Great for this purpose, safe parking including for a trailer behind a gate. Decent breakfast.
Review 111:Location, parking, pet friendly, fastinternet
Review 112:Cutlery was limited: not a major problem though!
Review 113:Spacious rooms
Review 114:Great kitchenette, comfy bed and good location. It´s the fourth time that I´ve stayed and it´s a great place to stay in Bordeaux
