Reviews for County Arms

Review 1:Nothing bad to report at all.

Review 2:Really good location, helpful & friendly staff who used their initiative. Good food well-priced. Great room, lovely views.

Review 3:Chairs in room not very comfortable.

Review 4:Everything under one roof,so we didnt have to leave the hotel due to the terrible weather.Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 5:Road busy - needs patience when driving out from (very generous) car park.

Review 6:Friendliness of all staff and helpfulness of those in bar arranging an extra table when fully booked. Food prepared well - rare steak just right and seafood not overcooked. Nice to be able to stay over Christmas without having to book a special package. Standard room spacious and comfortable.

Review 7:Breakfast wasn't included in price, small amount of mold in shower.

Review 8:The staff were very friendly and welcoming, room was good size and value for money, pub downstairs was very handing and good value for money.

Review 9:Howling wind through bedroom windows. Breakfast was just warm and looked as though it had been there a long time, bacon was cooked one side only and had terrible job to cut sausage. No greeting from staff on arrival.

Review 10:The Prawn starter

Review 11:Ideally situated, just far enough from the town centre. The menu was excellent, and the mid-week carvery was good value for money. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Will definitely stay again.

Review 12:continental breakfast non existent, sliced breakfast fruit still had peel on, this was very unhygienic especially when mixing with yogurt or cereals in a bowl, you had to pick it up with your fingers to eat. Expensive too.

Review 13:large room, excellent quick service for the evening meals

Review 14:we had a room adjoining us and the customers were very loud at 2 in the morning. overcharged for breakfast but quickly sorted

Review 15:good facilities, comfortable. close enough to walk to Truro centre. parking.

Review 16:Nothing !!

Review 17:Convenience of being so near town centre and railway station with food available on site. Food good value for money. Accommodation very quiet to ensure a good nights sleep.

Review 18:A bit of a walk from town, no elevator (minor issue).

Review 19:Lovely modern huge room, lovely bed. Good pub attached, free parking, decent price. Had a blast in Truro admiring old

Review 20:Nothing

Review 21:Convenient location just out of town. Within 5 minutes walking distance of railway station and 10 minutes into town. Frequent bus service for those without a car. Good pub restaurant. Thursday is curry night!

Review 22:I needed details of buses and routes but reception staff were unable to help. Timetables would have been helpful.

Review 23:Easy to find and very convenient for station and hospital. Room was well equipped.

Review 24:Would like hair conditioner with toiletries and some basic hot food options after 9.30pm.

Review 25:Great place, clean, convenient for hospital for work. Large rooms with everything you need. Late check in. Very friendly night receptionist and very helpful.

Review 26:My only adverse comment would be the breakfast, was not very hot. Why not cover up the dishes when not serving.

Review 27:Friendly staff, very helpful when I wanted to move to the back of the Hotel.Excellent standard of rooms, clean and spacious, and very good free Wi-Fi.

Review 28:No Wifi connection, cooked breakfast was terrible and most definitely not worth £8.50.

Review 29:View out of window was lovely, bed was extremely comfortable, room was clean and fresh.

Review 30:If i could have got WiFi to work it would have scored maximum!

Review 31:Excellent standard of room that matched, and perhaps surpassed expectations. It's what I want in room away from home - comfortable clean bed, nice clean hot shower, good ale in the bar and a good menu.

Review 32:The staff were all very helpful and friendly The room was spotless and the bottle of preseco was waiting for my wife in the room as requested.all in all superb

Review 33:The adjoining door means you can hear the people in the next room. I have been told that they plan to resolve this. This was my only complaint so it wouldn't put me off staying again.

Review 34:Location

Review 35:Breakfast buffet not as good as it used to be. Prepared fruit poor selection melon cut up but rind left on so not easy to eat with yoghurt. Monday am had tinned grapefruit as well but only melon Tuesday. Basket of fruit. I took an apple but difficult to cut up with blunt knives provided. Muesli boring and only currants and rock hard dried bananas available. Apricots would be nicer. Portion sizes for evening meals too massive. Huge starter and masses of extremely salty ham for main course which I couldn't eat. Lovely chips and egg but too many chips. Peas included which don't go with other items. Would like to see healthier choices included in evening menu. Service good.

Review 36:Spacious room. Lovely colours in room beautifully decorated.Gorgeous view at back of hotel.Extremely comfortable bed with snuggly duvet although may be rather hot in summer. Nice quality biscuits and refreshment selection. Great reliable shower. Peaceful relaxing room.

Review 37:The adjoining room, you could hear the people in it,but was told that they are attending to this problem asap

Review 38:All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the lady who was on reception the evening we arrived was really nice and helpful.

Review 39:Cold breakfast plates. Some shortage of bar staff in the very busy evening. We mentioned the cold plates to the staff and was told the heating unit was new and have no plate heating facility they were trying to work around this problem.

Review 40:Spacious and exceptionally clean rooms.

Review 41:I personally didn't have any problem, but my friends had problems at the check out , they tried to change an extra breakfast

Review 42:It was very clean and the room was comfortable

Review 43:As above-everything else was perfect

Review 44:The staff were the best feature-friendly/ efficient and very helpful-the hotel was comfortable however although we were pleased with the breakfast the overall menu was disappointing

Review 45:Overall hugely disappointed with the food. Virtually everything seems to be deep fried. Our meal on Saturday evening was a falafel starter followed by fishcakes - all of which deep fried and tasted exactly the same - the batter on the fishcakes was rock solid! Breakfasts are also overpriced - not included in stay and consist of poorly cooked sausages, bacon, white sausage, eggs, tomatoes, beans and mushrooms. Both my husband and myself suffered from upset stomachs on the days we had the breakfast - mainly because everything is fried! Also two issues also were of a concern: on one morning I choked severely at breakfast - fortunately my husband was there and able to perform the necessary action to dislodge the food that was stuck. At no point did any of the staff offer assistance or enquire if we were ok! Secondly we invited a friend for dinner on one evening. we explained that she is suffering form Oesophagal cancer and that the menu would be a problem. We were assured that a lunch menu could be chosen from which offered a better selection for her. We reserved our table but when we came to eat the young lady who had offered us this support did not come over to us at all! My friend was left ordering something wholly unsuitable which caused her significant difficulty. On another point the staff are obviously extremely unhappy as they were complaining every morning about the long hours they worked and that the new menu was - and I quote - 'awful' - one young chap was complaining that he had worked a 55 hour week! I am a teacher and do a 60 hour week - enough said! As we left we did not feel able to explain our problems as the desk was busy and we needed to visit my friend in the hospital before our long trip home. We were not given an itemized bill either which I found very odd as we had put meals etc on our room number and wished to check things! On the whole - clean accommodation but very poor food and service!

Review 46:The bed was extremely comfortable, the room large, clean and airy.

Review 47:The receptionist unfortunately told us the wrong times for breakfast. We were then not able to enjoy breakfast and had to leave early, just to find somewhere else to eat.

Review 48:Convenient for the city. Good value breakfasts. We enjoyed the food in the evenings and the fact of all the parties which showed how popular the hotel is.

Review 49:Lowest the air conditioning would go down to was 19 degrees C. The room was very warm. The TV is tiny. The WIFI would not connect in the room to my Ipad or Iphone. Breakfast was £8

Review 50:15 min walk from Truro station and town centre. Staff were very good. Plenty of parking

Review 51:Restaurant area having work done so not very well lit with natural light. Reserved a table for dinner but when we came down it was occupied. With the volume of traffic why bother reserving tables if clients ignore the notices?

Review 52:Location easy to get to but difficult to leave as much traffic. Rooms well appointed, good size & have A/C. Food very "pub grub" but well cooked & large portions. Good choice of beers.

Review 53:Restaurant was closed on the night we were there. The convenience of having a restaurant downstairs was one of the reasons we booked, and we were not forewarned. Prior warning or some form of compensation would have be nice.

Review 54:Good, clean facilities. Good location. Excellent value.

Review 55:Staff were typically Cornish - didn't really like tourists - no attempt at conversation at reception even when returning to hotel late. On a very busy main road - very difficult to turn out right (towards Truro). Sound-proofing from next room almost non-existent: could hear every snore and rustle of plastic.

Review 56:Comfortable room. Reasonable choice of breakfasts.

Review 57:Room cold and air con not particularly effective . Room also noisy with the sound of plumbing from adjoining rooms Price a tad expensive

Review 58:Food excellent, Modern room Friendly staff

Review 59:Dining room service only adequate with a couple of misunderstandings as to order for meals. Disappointing breakfasts as compared to other hotels on our trip in same classification.

Review 60:Roomy and clean with excellent lighting

Review 61:Not anywhere to relax outside your room. Restaurant always very busy. Very noisy people on their mobile phone outside the window. Cars pulling up. People laughing and chatting outside the window. Also early morning - somebody continually pacing the floor above us.

Review 62:The staff very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and spacious. Great place to get into Truro by Bus.

Review 63:Unfortunately room looked onto very busy road and traffic kept us awake most of the night. Extractor fan didn't work in bathroom. Luckily we were only staying for 1 night.

Review 64:The room was beautiful, the bed was very comfortable.

Review 65:The poor sound proofing of the inter connecting door between room 5 and 7. I could every word said. But I was moved to a different room after one night . Thank you for sorting that reception staff.

Review 66:Room 33 very spacious and great view across the valley. A nice steak, they do 5oz for those like me who think 8oz is too big

Review 67:Heavy weight bed covers, light German style duvets are much better and more easy for you to control and make up in room service.

Review 68:Willingness of the staff to help and assist

Review 69:I found someone elses pants... in my bed. But only after I'd slept in it... The staff were very good about it though.

Review 70:Lovely room, well appointed, lovely views and very, very nice staff. I had a superior room with countryside views. Veggie breakfast was excellent, well prepared and very fresh.

Review 71:I didn't like the breakfast, basically it's pub food. If you like that kind of thing then great, it just wasn't what I expected. I ordered poached egg and it was drowning in vinegar, inedible. Only ate breakfast one morning.

Review 72:I was visiting a relative in hospital so the location was great for me but it was also great for the town centre either by car or walking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeper was very good.

Review 73:The food in the restaurant was dismal. Chicken for dinner on the evening was as tough as old boots. "Hot" Breakfast @ £8 a head was luke warm. Mentioning both issues to staff received little comment!!

Review 74:The rooms were clean and comfortable and nicely furnished. Staff were very friendly and helpful

Review 75:The coffee stain on the sheet which was hidden under the bedspread which I only found in the morning. Quite expensive @£109 for the night.

Review 76:Location very nice.. staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely although not included in the price.

Review 77:Very clean. Comfortable bed, good shower and bath room, large free car park, two electric car charging points in car park, all staff friendly and helpful very good food and excellent breakfasts. Very good value for money.

Review 78:The wheels on the bed need to be stabilised I sat on the thing it shot away from underneath me. I have a very badly bruised shoulder !

Review 79:Basic clean comfy well located

Review 80:Nothing to dislike.

Review 81:Really friendly staff. Everywhere was very clean the rooms were spotless. We had a lovely view from our room over the country side.Food in the hotel was very good value with 2 meals for £15. Would recommend.

Review 82:The location, the room size, the Vi-spring bed and the honey toiletries supplied were perfect. Breakfast was excellent but would have been even better if included in the room price.

Review 83:All the staff were very friendly & very helpful. The room was very clean, spacious and very comfortable. The food was excellent with exceptional service. We would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

Review 84:The Hotel is only a 15 minute walk from the town centre and 10 minutes from the train station. Lovely clean and comfortable room. The pub attached has a great range of food and atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

Review 85:The air conditioning turned on to do aclean at 11.40pm each night lasting about 3 hours. During this time it wouldnt switch off. I told staff and it was sorted 3 times only to discover it hadnt when it started up at 11.40pm and drove me insane.

Review 86:It is a central base for me to work from

Review 87:Childs fold away bed was a little uncomfortable, however this was a later request so we managed.

Review 88:The hotel was very nice, staff helpful and bar restaurant had a good selection of food

Review 89:N/A

Review 90:The rooms were airy and light. Breakfast and dinner were really tasty. Staff were very pleasant and very helpful. Easy to get to and parking facilities were great. Overall a really lovely experience - would love to come again. My son didn't want to leave!

Review 91:GREAT LOCATION SPOTLESS THROUGHOUT STAFF WERE BRILLIANT AND THERE LOCAL KNOWLEDGE WAS EXCELLENT ON WHERE TO VISIT.THE ROOM WAS SUPERB AND NO NOISE CONSIDERING THE HOTEL IS ON A MAIN ROAD.WE ENJOYED BREAKFAST AND HAD A SUNDAY CARVEREY WHICH AGAI WAS EXCELLENT SO ALL IN ALL A 10 OUT OF 10 FROM US .WOULD RECOMMEND TO EVERYBODY

Review 92:Given the spaciousness of the room itself the bathroom was poorly designed in comparison. The toilet was crammed into a corner with the toilet tissue holder in a very dangerous and too close for comfort position. I bashed my arm repeatedly on the protruding metal of the holder.

Review 93:Paid extra for a spacious double with balcony and great views. Very comfortable and great bed for a restful sleep.

Review 94:The view from our bedroom was of the rooftop of the pub which didn't look very nice however we were out mostly so it didn't effect us.

Review 95:Everything was fab. Nothing to complain about.

Review 96:Only gripe is that the cleaner hadn't hoovered properly and bathroom shower needed some tlc on the tiling. Not sure if there is a lift if you can't do stairs

Review 97:Location very good not far from Truro centre. The room and hotel were very modern and we'll thought out. Even had room service which isn't advertised as a service.

Review 98:Hotel was very welcoming and all the staff was very friendly. Could do with some light evening entertainment a few nights per week but would definitely stay again

Review 99:Room was standard format with en suite, TV and wifi. All very clean and comfortable. We were told breakfast was extra, and all the food we had there was great

Review 100:We arrived earlier than 3pm and staff were flexible and let us use the room as it was already prepared. I really appreciated and had a good rest after the tiring journey. THANK YOU.

Review 101:Nothing bad about this place in any shape or form.

Review 102:We loved everything about our stay here. Comfortable, clean, big rooms and very quiet, excellent restaurant but would advise others to book as it's very popular with the locals as well as those staying at the hotel. Would certainly return here and would highly recommend to others. Good parking as well. Home away from home✔️✔️

Review 103:Extra bed booked wasn't in the room when we arrived late at night. (Night porter gentleman had to fetch it - I made bed up myself as felt it wouldn't have been fair to ask the gentleman to do it. Not great when arriving at 11pm having driving from East Anglia & tired! Staff were helpful but not particularly friendly unless we spoke to them first. (Except for housekeeping lady with local accent who was lovely!)

Review 104:Lovely modern hotel in a convenient location with parking. Quiet room at back of hotel meant no traffic noise. (Can't comment on food as didn't try it!)

Review 105:This was an overnight stay where we arranged to rendezvous with friends on our way to Penzance. We all commented on the cleanliness and comfort of our rooms. This together with the beer garden facility and standard of food made a wonderful start to our holiday. The staff were so accommodating and friendly - no problem in supplying fresh milk for our room and even offered to make toast for us prior to the allotted breakfast time when we were leaving very early the next morning.

Review 106:There was a bad, not very very strong smell coming from the air-conditioning.

Review 107:Peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Short distance to bus stop for city centre and 2 supermarkets very close by. Clean room with beautiful view. Very quite.

Review 108:Our room had an extra door, which connects two rooms. It would have been suitable for familys, but in our case it was a bit annoying, could hear everything from the other room.

Review 109:Clean and tidy hotel. Good location, all the main attractions of Cornwall are reachable with 40 minutes drive. Friendly staff ( specially the DM ). Delicious breakfast.

Review 110:No lift, which was very surprising. I had three cases and other bags to haul up to the first floor. The walls are scuffed where guests before had done the same as I. Very bad design planning.

Review 111:Modern, clean. Good location. Good soundproof windows as my room was on the main road.

Review 112:The door closing and opening near the 1st floor entrance may be a problem if you want a lie in. I had an early start so was not disturbed but the noise was noticed.

Review 113:The location of the property and the view from the pub balcony was fantastic. The staff were very nice and professional.

Review 114:We were going to a wedding and thought the venue was a walkable distance. It was a short cab ride away and the reception booked the cab for us which wad great.

Review 115:Comfortable room and we were able to walk to town for dinner. Staff were helpful and car parking was very useful!

Review 116:Breakfast not included in accommodation charge.

Review 117:Very convenient location and very accessable. Accomodation very comfortable, spacious room and excellent facilities. Food served all day which gave good flexibility. Staff polite and helpful. Good car parking facilities

Review 118:We could not access the Wifi even though we tried - using the info provided. The bed was extremely soft.

Review 119:The breakfast was fabulous! Equally, the night porter was lovely and extremely helpful, thank you.

Review 120:We booked for a 3 night stay but unfortunately could only stay for 1 due to having to return home because of a bereavement. We were given a refund without having to ask.

Review 121:WiFi was a bit iffy, breakfast needs to be explained better, as we weren't quite sure what was included. A little bit pricey for what it was.

Review 122:Clean, comfortable, good location and great staff.

Review 123:As a family of 4 with 2 adult children we all had a great night before traveling on to a family wedding. The food in the bar was very good, the staff extremely helpful and pleasant - absolutely no criticism. A very pleasant comfortable stay

Review 124:Staff is not very friendly. There is not ice machine, so you have to go to the bar.

Review 125:A simple hotel with simple staff, but the room was spacious and had good air-conditioning. Location is good for visiting Cornwall. Unfortunately, due to many roadworks, getting around was not very swift. The hotel sits walking distance from the town center (10-15 minutes). Breakfast was not included, but available starting at GBP 5. There is free parking,

Review 126:Walk back from Truro "uphill". But only £3 in a cab.

Review 127:20 min walk onto Truro. Well placed for driving around Cornwall. Very good Sunday carvery but must book as all the locals reserve the tables.

Review 128:I booked two rooms through booking.com in January for my stay. The rooms were at opposite ends of the hotel which was a problem for me as my husband has dementia. When I asked why they could not give me closer rooms, they told be as I booked through booking.com I would have been very low on the list for room allocation and they could not make any changes.

Review 129:Good parking. Good value hotel

Review 130:Staff were eager to please & very helpful. The ease of having a pub downstairs meant you didn't have to go anywhere if you didn't want to.

Review 131:Evening menu not very healthy. Everything was with chips or a bit of salad. No boiled potatoes or vegetables. Menu was the same everyday.

Review 132:Staff very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay.

Review 133:Bar closed, even to residents, at 11pm on a Saturday evening.

Review 134:Made very welcome. Nice outdoor area for drinks. Excellent rooms. Location good. Food good.
