Reviews for Bagshaw Hall

Review 1:Nothing to put here. It was perfect for our trip

Review 2:Everything was excellent. The room was lovely, there was an area to let out dog out (we cleaned up after him) and it was 2 minutes walk from the centre of bakewell. The staff were excellent. And best of all you can have takeaway delivered there haha

Review 3:There was no bathroom door!! I appreciate the building is old, but our bathroom (which was really nice & modern with great shower & jacuzzi bath) was part of our bedroom & some privacy would've been better.

Review 4:Large apartment that felt like a home from home. Everything you need is there & felt very comfortable. Hall itself was amazing - incredible view over Bakewell, beautifully decorated with old staircases etc, 2 min walk into town. There is no proper reception which we liked as it felt much more homely & relaxed. If you need anything you call the owner lady who is very nice & helpful. Would definitely return.

Review 5:Nice clean room, great location only a couple of minutes walk in to the town centre. Friendly staff. Will defently stay here again on out next trip to Bakewell :)

Review 6:Absolutely beautiful room. Was upgraded at no extra cost. Very friendly staff. Will definitely stay again....real soon!!! Can't fault this accommodation !

Review 7:It's an ancient Hall with low ceilings. You just need to remember to duck, if you're nearly 6ft tall!

Review 8:Ideally located, well appointed with lots of privacy and friendly staff.

Review 9:The building was lovely and very cosy, situated extremely close to the town centre which made it very easy to get too. Amazing shower, and cosy room. Lovely staff

Review 10:That I couldn't have stayed longer

Review 11:Centrally located property, the lady of the house and her son are as charming as the rooms and their excellent facilities.

Review 12:That there wasn't any access to a bar/snacks on site as far as I could tell.

Review 13:Georgina was absolutely brilliant and friendly, it was just like being at home. The welcome was really appreciated after the long trip to arrive.

Review 14:Breakfast felt a little rushed.

Review 15:Very stylish interior, very comfortable big room with mini kitchen. Very doggy friendly.. We apologies for muddy paws! :)

Review 16:They have taken the cost of the stay from my account twice. I would like you to arrange repayment as a matter of urgency and remuneration for the bank charges they have landed me with for the account going into the red. Please reply as a matter of urgency.

Review 17:Close to the centre of the town. Also the receptionist Georgina was very obliging.

Review 18:If any negative it would be Bed could have been more comfortable,if not a new mattress a topper would help

Review 19:Location staff were welcoming and room size presentation was good

Review 20:Classed as self catering but room only had a microwave for cooking.

Review 21:Well placed to walk to Bakewell town and good views from the room we had. Room equipped with fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave.

Review 22:Nothing, location great. Local eating places all seeved excellant food.

Review 23:The hall is located within 2 mins to centre of Bakewell, we found the hall excellant and would stay at the hall again

Review 24:We were charged £20 for our dog for one night which is a little expensive and I don't think is mentioned on the website. However, he was made to feel welcome too!

Review 25:Loved the whole accommodation, slightly different from a typical B and B, really enjoyed our time and were made to feel very welcome.

Review 26:Staff were fantastic and very welcoming. Room was out of this world and the location was great. Had a lovely relaxing night away which was just what we needed.

Review 27:wifi only seemed to work in the entrance hall but it was a good excuse the sit in there as it was a lovely room. We were on hol anyway so who cares about checking your phone all the time!

Review 28:Staff were very friendly & made us feel really welcome. Feels like it's a family run place with just a few staff. The building is gorgeous & our room (Vernon) was beautiful & really homely. Would recommend very highly!!

Review 29:The room was immaculate, clean and it was very cosy and comfortable throughout our stay. The bath on the chateau suite was amazing. Highly recommended.

Review 30:There were no menus in the room to order food as suggested on the room specs. Also the wifi doesn't work in Room 10, was mentioned to the staff on the day after arrival but it didn't work. Check in and out is a little unconventional also, no reception.

Review 31:Beautiful room. Stunning building with immense character. Breath taking location.

Review 32:They say they have Wifi but it is very poor and in the end I gave up. They were very pleasant and tried to help but it failed. I think that given I was there on business that wifi is essential. Even those on holiday would want it to connect to colleagues or family

Review 33:The beautiful room decorated with flair, our own kitchenette perfect for preparing your own breakfast, and the fantastic bathroom with a huge bath! Very friendly staff.

Review 34:The room we had was on the ground floor at the back so the windows www very high up and we couldn't see out of them. People could look down through the windows into our room.

Review 35:Beautiful building, clean, well decorated! Really comfy big bed!

Review 36:Cooked breakfast not available but plenty of cafes in the town

Review 37:Perfect location a short walk from the centre of Bakewell. Lovely old building and gardens

Review 38:nothing!

Review 39:we loved the location of the property! We stayed in the Garden room and had our own entrance which was handy! The staff were very friendly it was clean and warm!! We were also recommended a couple of restaurants, one we even got discount in because of where we stayed!

Review 40:Very uncomfortable bed; after close examination we discovered that it was broken. Duvet was too small, clearly suited to a smaller bed. This is really inexcusable, as a good bed should a very basic facility in every hotel! There was no wifi in the room, despite the fact that Bagshaw Hall advertises 'free wifi in all areas'. Owners charge fees for credit card payments, unfortunately they don't notify customers about it at the time of booking. I only discovered it when I checked my bank account and noticed that I was charged over 10 pounds more than the amount stated on the booking confirmation. There is no hob/cooker which is what I would expect from a self-catering apartment. I don't eat microwave meals at home, why would I do it on holiday?! Overall, impossible to get a good nights' sleep, misleading or incorrect booking info, lack of wifi - will not stay there again.

Review 41:Great location and a beautiful building located on top of a hill overlooking Bakewell.

Review 42:I found that the WiFi wasn't available in the rooms, but only really accessible in the lounge area.

Review 43:We liked the way you were free to come and go with no reception and the lounge area where you can read books and borrow games.

Review 44:Stronger WIFI signal would be good. Signal somewhat weak at times.

Review 45:Beautifully updated rooms which still maintain their overall classic look. Building is magnificent!

Review 46:Although the Garden Room was stunning, the ceilings and particularly the beams and doorways were really low. My husband, who is 6 foot 1, was constantly bumping his head, and my head, at 5 oot 7 was brushing the ceiling in places

Review 47:Having a location so close to town with it's own parking was invaluable. The room itself was just beautiful, really cosy and well appointed, and the exposed beams and sympathetic decoration makes you feel as though you are sleeping in the past.

Review 48:Nothing negative

Review 49:Slightly different concept exactly what we wanted very cosy good atmosphere lovely old building informal homely place great location. Would book again when in that area

Review 50:Haddon room very basic compared to pictures on website of other rooms. Cheap, uncomfortable bed and pillows. Poor quality mattress.

Review 51:Near to town and able to park on site.

Review 52:It was unfortunate that I only managed one night out of the two booked as I had to get home for a dog emergency. But hey ho, a costly weekend and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Review 53:A large airy room with fabulous views, the carpet wasn't the cleanest but that really was the only hiccup.

Review 54:Water pressure in the bath very poor, despite shower being very good. No wifi in the room, only in lounge area We were not offered the option of breakfast No offer of assistance with what we were doing the next day, seemed disinterested.

Review 55:Great bathroom, very comfortable bed

Review 56:Narrow steps up to the room, tight for parking in the annex but we were disappointed at being in the annex rather than the main house with bedrooms as featured on Booking.com

Review 57:Close to centre of Bakewell and very quiet for a good nights sleep

Review 58:poor wifi signal in the room but you coukd access it in the lobby if required.

Review 59:Very close to Bakewell, only 2 minutes walk away. Staff were very friendly and recommended places to eat, shop and visit. Room was clean and tidy. Kitchenette had more facilities than I was expecting! We found it a little difficult to find but staff were helpful when we called that we were lost.

Review 60:Self check in and out. If u want continental breakfast then they bring it to your room the night befor. Location is hard to find and parking is small

Review 61:Lovely views

Review 62:Nothing really, I just think we should have picked a room above ground floor as they are larger and grander. The mattress on our bed had seen better days.

Review 63:loved the old manor building and the lovely common lounge and front garden. The availability of a kitchenette gives you flexibility for breakfast options, even a fridge to keep your own bottle of wine. The relaxed attitude to the running of the facility, it felt like staying with friends.

Review 64:The free wi-fi could not be picked up from our room (number 7) and there was not a bath in the room

Review 65:The hall was decorated to a high standard and very luxurious and beautiful. The kitchenette was also very useful

Review 66:No proper check in or check out service - signs told us to phone when we arrived and left. I booked a double room in what I thought was Bagshaw Hall but when we arrived we were taken to some new rooms at the back of the building, this was basic, clean and comfortable but had no character whatsoever. The welcome pack had no details about the history of the old hall and nothing about how to order breakfast. We had to go out to but breakfast.

Review 67:Great location

Review 68:The bed was the worst one I have ever slept in. Sprung springs & lumpy which made sleeping almost impossible. The en-suite was a partition wall that didn't even reach the ceiling, with the bed backed up to it, meaning that toilet facilities, bath/shower time was more than audible, especially in the night. Contact with the owners by mobile phone only. Self catering?... just a fridge, microwave & toaster. No air-con in a ground floor aptmt with only one window that opens with shutters and no curtains. Wi-Fi only available in the entrance hall/waiting room. My biggest complaint...I was told payment would be taken upon departure & could be by whatever format I wished. I wanted to pay cash. When it came to checking out, I had to phone a mobile and was told that payment had already been taken off my card and it was too late to pay by cash. I was told to leave the keys in the room. And all of this for £280 for 2 nights. What a rip off.

Review 69:The location was great. Large room.

Review 70:The breakfast facilities were a little unusual, with no breakfast room in the hotel.

Review 71:This property was in a fantastic location, just a few minutes walk from bakewell itself. The room was beautiful.

Review 72:Everything was fantastic, I just thought for the price of the room it would have been nice to have breakfast included. Also check out time could have been a little later as we had to rush on the last morning.

Review 73:The location of Bagshaw Hall was brilliant for walking into town and really was a beautiful building. Our room was amazing, a huge bed, two person bath, lovely bathroom and good self catering facilities! Brilliant!! The staff were really friendly too

Review 74:Nothing to complain about - had an excellent stay

Review 75:It was a beautiful place - Linda a member of the Team could not do enough for us. Stayed in Veloure Suite which was beautiful- spacious - perfectly situated for access in & out of the Hall - as my husband had a very painful knee & difficulty with walking- Linda moved us to this suite for best easy access.

Review 76:Couldn't watch telly in the bedroom. Some of the drawers in bedroom were not usable because the knobs came out. Luckily we didn't need them all for our purposes; however, hope they are fixed for others..

Review 77:Staff was very friendly and helpful! In general a very lovely apartment. Would recommend to anyone.

Review 78:Booking.com said it would be a kingsize bed (upon booking and in email confirmation) but I'm pretty sure our bed was a standard double.(Cavendish apartment). Not a huge issue as the apartment was lovely.

Review 79:Location was excellent, and the room was full of character. I loved the balcony with views of Bakewell

Review 80:Breakfast options were unclear - I think it was possible to order something for the following day but there were no instructions on how to do this. The bath also took an age to fill as the water pressure was very low.

Review 81:The decor and room were absolutely amazing. We were so happy when we arrived.

Review 82:Wi-Fi never worked. Provided breakfast (extra) was friendly but amateurish with minimal choice: better to find your own in town or get food in.

Review 83:Characterful accommodation quite near the centre of Bakewell, although some might not appreciate the short moderate slope to climb if on foot. Reception area was unmanned and the request to phone when checking in and out really means what it says.

Review 84:We were located in the 'Garden Suite' which was located underneath the main house with very low ceilings, small windows (so room very dark) and you had to crawl into the 'wardrobe', the ensuite was also very tiny and cramped. This would have all been ok if the price of the room wasn't so expensive! Especially as all the other rooms in the hotel were located in the main house and looked beautiful. More info about the 'standard' room up front would have lowered our disappointment.

Review 85:Bakewell is a lovely town and the accomodation is located in close proximity- however it is up a very step hill which was fine for us but would not be convenient for an older person. The location was quiet with nice views over the town.

Review 86:Minor point but Wifi in penthouse suite didn't have great reception.

Review 87:What a lovely unique place to stay in Bakewell. We visited for our anniversary and weren't disappointed. Nice staff, gorgeous room and great location

Review 88:Shower door was broken and breakfast maybe not worth the £8 but the only things!

Review 89:Fantastic room and location, staff made us feel at home and just generally good all round!

Review 90:We paid £230 for a 2 night stay in a very standard room and this did not include breakfast which we could purchase apparently for an extra £8 each. this fact we read in the info book but it was not mention when given our keys on arrival.

Review 91:Good view, close to town centre, very laid back atmosphere.

Review 92:Servicing staff had not pointed out to management the things that did not work, or were broken. No view. No information about how the place ran and contact largely by phone as unmanned.

Review 93:Really good access to Bakewell though you need to be fit to get back. Hall is a very fine building.

Review 94:Didn't get the room we were told we were getting, an error they admitted and the one we had was small, dingy, had mould spores around the windows, which they deny are there, and was a bit overpriced. The slat based bed collapsed several times during the two nights, just whilst we were sleeping. Staff attitude to our issues was poorly received.

Review 95:Bakewell is gorgeous and the hall Itself is extremely attractive. The common parts were nicely decorated and welcoming.

Review 96:Bagshaw Hall is a beautiful property, perfectly located a very short walk to the shops, pubs and restaurants of Bakewell. There is a garden to relax in if you wish and a very comfortable area to read your book by the fire if you wish. Our room was generously and elegantly proportioned with views over the garden and the green hills of the peak district beyond. Wonderful shower in a fully refurbished, modern bathroom. It was nicer than many hotels I have stayed in. The management team were very helpful and in particular I loved calling from bed on Sunday morning to check out - "just leave your keys in the room and have a nice day". Easiest check out I have ever experienced. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Bagshaw Hall to anyone.

Review 97:My booking was described as Luxury Double Room. with scenic views. There was nothing luxurious about it and the view was of roof tops. It is an overpriced B&B with the breakfast 8 quid extra. It was a beautiful old manor house spoiled by a hodge-podge of tasteless cheap furnishings.

Review 98:Location

Review 99:The stay at bagshaw hall was incredible! Went for a night away with my husband and dog. It was the perfect location, less than a 5 minute walk to town centre. The room was beautiful! Immaculately presented to the highest standard. The woman who checked us in was lovely and so helpful and informative. Would only stay here for a future trip to bakewell!

Review 100:The shower door & toilet seat were broken. The bed was made on our second day, but bathroom wasn't cleaned or bins emptied. The slats of the bed were also broken. Didn't like the basement position of our bedroom. Always had to telephone to deal with staff and wasn't issued with a receipt on departure. No staff member even personally acknowledged our departure. We telephoned (again) to say we were leaving and were just told to leave our keys in the room. Because they already had our card number, they will just automatically debit the cost. No personal attention at all. When I was informed that I had to ring a number in order for someone to escort us from the car park to our room, I naively imagined a consierge , being known as Bagshaw hall. How wrong was I.

Review 101:The location was very good but I wouldn't like to use the steep paths during winter.

Review 102:Might be a little pricy, but still would recommend as everything else was perfect.

Review 103:Loved the quirky interior design, lots of character, the staff were really welcoming and location was perfect, a 2 minute walk to the centre of Bakewell.

Review 104:The mattress was absolutely horrible. You could feel the springs. A very bad night sleep. Also, ceilings so low in this basement room, my 5'7" wife had to duck while in the room. And I am even taller.

Review 105:The building was very old and they did a good job of keeping it somewhat updated.

Review 106:Quality of TV was poor. Mix up with the room - not what was shown in the on-line brochure. WIFI only worked in the common area.

Review 107:Location and car park. Friendly staff.

Review 108:Shower screen needs fixing - had to have very quick shower as worried about flooding the bathroom

Review 109:Location - short stroll into centre of town Lovely welcome & handy recommendations re dining options.

Review 110:The wifi did not work as advertised. It was not available in much of the room due to weak signal - so ultimately unreliable (inconvenient for mobile working, TV streaming for child's bedtime routine, etc) Parking was tight, with such a small car park. Some features of the room were not child friendly - no stoppers on windows to avoid opening too wide; single paned glass with a large crack right through (don't lean against it!); unsecured glass table top (not fastened to legs but just resting).

Review 111:Lovely period building. Spacious room, large comfortable bed. Clean and well presented. Good central location for town.

Review 112:A door between the bedroom and the bathroom would be good. We're not shy, but we are sometimes a bit smelly.

Review 113:Actually, we had a suite made from what must have been servants quarters, accessed from the back stairs, and with windows out behind the ornate parapet. Fantastic views right across Bakewell made this suite special. We also liked the entrance lounge downstairs. A great place for a group to gather, our just to chill.

Review 114:Garden room too small, not ideal for tall people. We would have preferred a larger apartment

Review 115:Good location and impressive Building. Friendly staff Short walk to town centre

Review 116:Didn't like bathroom, although clean and new it felt cramped i personally like a seperate tiolet area, felt a little un welcome having to use phone numbers for arrival and checkout.

Review 117:Location excellent, very nice apartment,

Review 118:No wifi in room which was a bit of a pain, mattress could have been better, woke up with backache.

Review 119:location and excellent bath and shower facilities along with the self catering aspect

Review 120:Didn't dislike anything, the walk down into the village is short, but it is down a steep hill.

Review 121:For a change we decided to take our own cereals etc. for breakfast and the facilities in the room were very good, all that we needed. The view was excellent too.

Review 122:Parking is impossible - the car park is not big enough if the place is full. On the second night I drove round for 20 mins trying to find a parking space & ended up 15 mins walk away. No breakfast before 9.15am. Shower doors leaked. Room was below ground level and had no views.

Review 123:The building is beautiful and the art and décor are lovely. The couple who own and run it are fantastically friendly and warm.

Review 124:Just a 2 minute walk from the centre of Bakewell, in a perfect location. Amazing facilities including an oven and dishwasher. The room was brilliant and much bigger than we expected and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We have already recommended Bagshaw Hall to friends and family :)

Review 125:Wi-Fi in the bedroom didnt work, the bed was on a bit of a slope and the shower doors didnt work correctly thus causing a bit of a wet floor when used for the first time.

Review 126:Lovely period house, very convenient for the town centre, nice and peaceful.

Review 127:Wifi didn't work in the room. TV was old and didn't work correctly. Asked for a room with separate shower and bath and received confirmation. When we arrived we were not given the room confirmed. Told we were upgrade but things didn't work and the shower was above the bath with no head room. Just disappointed.

Review 128:Location was good. Room was nice and big.

Review 129:steep hill climb from centre of Bakewell a killer.....!! (good exercise though)

Review 130:Lovely old building set high on a hill overlooking Bakewell and scenery beyond. central location within 5 minutes walk of pubs, restaurants and shops. Stayed in the Penthouse which was very clean with all luxuries you could think of! Lovely bath in room with separate ensuite shower room (Great shower) Bed very large and comfortable, all in all , a very relaxing stay at Bagshaw Hall and would definitely return.

Review 131:The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was excellent - spacious, clean, nicely decorated, with a fantastic view over the town. The kitchenette facilities are handy, even if you don't intend to do any self-catering. Overall a very nice stay. We'll be back in the Peak District soon and we'll be staying at Bagshaw Hall - if we can get a room!

Review 132:The toilet had a macerator so was quite noisy after use. we were a bit daunted by the signs that stated if it blocked, we'd be liable for paying unblocking charges! Not being familiar with this type of toilet it was a bit of a burden but all was fine - phew!

Review 133:Really liked the Garden Suite as this had a door out to the garden - ideal for letting dog out. There was a side gate and short-cut to Bakewell town so all very easy and convenient,

Review 134:We thought it would have been better if the ensuite had been more enclosed, i.e. The partition walls didn't go all the way to the ceiling. For the price of the room it lacked some essentials such as a box of tissues for example - slippers and a robe would also have been a good idea.

Review 135:The room was lovely and bright and nice a clean and spacious. We had a beautiful view over Bakewell.

Review 136:- WiFi, we didn't have Internet connection. - We had car park problem, in fact we had to pay a parking fine. - The room was not cleaned properly

Review 137:Fantastic bed and location.

Review 138:wi fi in rooms (chateau room) was poor to non existent in the bedrooms, only other point was the bathroom walls did not extend up to the ceiling so it was hard to keep up the 'mystery' throughout the trip

Review 139:The rooms were clean and beautiful, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The Building was also beautiful. The location was perfectly placed just up the hill from the town centre giving nice views.
