Reviews for Hotel du Centre - Chez Janie
Review 1:Personally I had no dislikes, but one of our travelling companions was not very mobile, and the website information is a bit scant, and didn't mention that there isn't a lift. It is six flights of stairs to the third floor, so tricky for some guests.
Review 2:Very central, parking close by, though I imagine in Summer more difficult to find a space. Clean rooms, plenty of hot water, and harbour view was v pretty. Didn't use the restaurant, but it looked fine. And sitting area on ground floor was lovely with lots of brochures to local areas of interest.
Review 3:Requested a table in the restaurant arrived from the late ferry 15 mins after booked time to be told we could not have a table. Restaurant at the time had 3 couples eating.
Review 4:Smart room very modern
Review 5:Poor shower. No shelving in bathroom. Bed under the eaves so not possible to stand on one side of the bed. Average breakfast with poor coffee.
Review 6:Staff were friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable.
Review 7:Had to search for it a bit. It would be useful to describe where it is in a bit of detail.
Review 8:Spotless, tastefully furnished, full of character. Madam stylish and welcoming.
Review 9:Friendly staff who were happy for us to leave rucksacks in reception after checking out. No tea or coffee facilities but this seems to be a feature of French accommodation. Clean, fresh rooms.
Review 10:Absolutely beautiful location staff very helpful and extremely caring. We stayed on our first two nights in France and then the last night before we caught the ferry to England, having stayed at a house in St Riwoal. The view across the harbour is magnificent.
Review 11:Bed was a regular double not the king size advertised. Shower recess was tiny and no where for shampoo etc. had live music for the two nights we were there intil late but it added to atmosphere.
Review 12:The location was perfect
Review 13:Lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room
Review 14:Roscoff ambience, in the centre of the town, a local hotel.Breakfast was very good, with helpful staff.
Review 15:No Lift!! No porterage - or offer of it. It has the feel of a bar/cafe with rooms not a hotel with a very part-time reception. We should have realised so no blame lies with the hotel itself but booking sites should be more honest. It is noisy especially on a Saturday night. Our fault for not realising just how central it was. The 'nearby free parking' is 200 metres away and is only for 24 hours - so you have to move your car at the very least each day. We did not have the breakfast but the hotel still tried to charge us for it!
Review 16:Room and hotel was very clean and very functional. Good enough space and everything worked well. Good sea views from the 3rd floor. The staff seemed friendly enough. Wi-Fi worked in the rooms well.
Review 17:No complaints at all
Review 18:The way we were looked after by the staff. Our room and facilities were tops. Views from our room were great looking over the port.
Review 19:(no problems to report.)
Review 20:Nice restaurant and bar. Lively position. Staff up-graded us to overlook the harbour at no extra cost. And they found space for storing our bikes and our bags until it was time for our train even though this was way past check-out time.
Review 21:Don't be fooled into price you pay for room as there where taxes added to the bill so wot they say you will pay on the website isn't what you pay at the hotel. Was very noisy at times . I wouldn't call it a hotel it's more of a b&b
Review 22:Right in middle of town. Staff let us in early to our room so we could shower and grab some sleep. Food was very good in there restaurant.
Review 23:Wifi was hopeless. Restaurant was good but very expensive for the fare on offer. Bath/shower - had to climb into the bath to take a shower.
Review 24:The views of the harbour. The location.
Review 25:Shower cubicle was small, but shower was very efficient.
Review 26:Location, friendly staff (mostly English speaking) great food , bar, comfortable room and bed. Large public car park across the road.
Review 27:Staff were very helpful when we arrived late at night off the ferry from Plymouth, and again the next day when we needed some directions to the car rental company.
Review 28:The lack of a lift could be a problem. There seemed to be a shortage of staff because the ones on duty seemed to be attending to two different roles. The front door needs attention it gets stuck when you try to open it more than half way. These negative comments would not deter me from staying there they are minor problems
Review 29:The hotel is very well placed right in the centre of Roscoff. The staff are very helpful. The property is very clean. The hotel represents very good value for money.
Review 30:Having to leave!!!!
Review 31:Warm welcome from very helpful and courteous staff. Pleasant and uniquely decorated rooms. A very good and reasonably priced restaurant.
Review 32:The room had a musty smell. Opening the window did little to help as the smell of sewage drifted in . Avoid room 25 if you book. Lucky it was for one night only otherwise we would have moved on .
Review 33:The bedroom was comfortable. Evening meal was quite good and not too expensive. Good location for centre of town and harbour. good free parking nearby.
Review 34:Although our room was at the front, we were on the third floor and found it quiet enough to sleep with windows open. Situated well for a good choice of restaurants.
Review 35:No lift recommend light suitcase if on second floor .
Review 36:Chez Janie Hotel du Centre is a comfortable hotel in central location, close to restaurants. Recommend The Creperier La Post which was opposite the Hotel, staff very friendly also The Boulangerie across the road for breakfast. We were in room 26 on 2nd floor which was comfortable and clean, with small balcony overlooking the harbour, recommend harbour view. Recommend the walk round ile de baz. 15 minute ferry ride from pier which is a 10 minute walk from hotel.
Review 37:Noise - from the back there was a party of youngsters shouting until 3.30 am - hopefully a one off but obviously no gendames patrolling or locals would tell them to shut up, at the front the bins were emptied at 5.30am which were very noisy - great place but take the ear plugs.
