Reviews for Roxbro House

Review 1:Excellent quality of accommodation, buildings and furnishings give you the impression this is a top quality place to stay. Hosts were welcoming and unintuitive. Village is a very short walk away for pubs etc, Lots of good walks nearby.

Review 2:Very quaint, bath in bedroom was different. Lots of character to the house. Would need to stay longer for full benefit. Breakfast was lovely and lady that was serving very friendly,

Review 3:what a lovely accommodation and 1st class stay with Claire the owner, always helpful and breakfast and accommodation brill. will definitely be going back easter time.

Review 4:Very home from home with lots of little extras you would not get in a big hotel. Excellent breakfast and nice little touches such as happy hour with complimentary wine and cheese.

Review 5:there was nothing to not like!

Review 6:the room was lovely , the location ideal! Breakfast was excellent and the happy hour wine and cheese is such a great idea!

Review 7:Upon a rival we received a warm welcome, the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was tastefully decorated, comfortable and very clean. Tea, coffee & biscuits were also provided in the room. We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast in the conservatory, there was plenty of choice. We'll definitely stay here again!

Review 8:The room was rather hot (though it was unseasonable warm for October) and turning the radiator off didn't make much difference.

Review 9:The room was large and comfortable. The breakfast choice puts many quality hotels to shame!

Review 10:None.

Review 11:This hotel had everything you would wish for. Beautiful quaint place....bedroom filled with more extras than expected....White Company toiletries etc...bathrobes/slippers,fruit & chocs. Breakfast second to none....so much choice. Opposite Walkworth Castle & good eating places within minutes. Would highly recommend this extremely good and friendly place.

Review 12:That we had to leave

Review 13:Claire was an amazing host! So welcoming, the breakfast was delicious and the comfort next level. There was even free wine and cheese hour, which... well says it all.

Review 14:Rooms were quite dark due to the antique type furniture & décor.

Review 15:Very welcoming host. Breakfast menu quite extensive & food hot. Quite a lot of nice touch's like wine & cheese in the evening & fresh milk delivered to room in the morning. Lovely view of the castle.

Review 16:The mattress in Bedroom 1 peaks in the middle ,causing you to feel as tho you are lying at an angle towards the edge of the bed.

Review 17:Everything.Its probably the best B n B i have stopped in.

Review 18:We stayed in the suite at the top of the premises and found the bedroom to be quite dark due to only one very small window in the room. The stairs leading to the suite are very narrow and winding.

Review 19:Very friendly welcome, excellent breakfasts and hospitality.

Review 20:Claire & Stu were very welcoming and made you feel very much at home, happy hour with cheese, wine and cake was a very nice touch. Great value for money.

Review 21:no bad experiences we had room to side of building which was nice and quiet but a little dark, but no problems

Review 22:friendly welcome, comfortable bed, very clean, good breakfast, good location, well furnished and decorated, good amount of tea and coffee in room, good shower lovely large towels. residents lounge comfortable, cosy and well furnished

Review 23:Bit difficult parking as you reverse out on to a busy road, but not a big issue. steep steps up to top floors obviously no lift again it's not a problem if you can manage lots of stairs. No real complaints for one night.

Review 24:Not used to staying in BB's as normally travel with business in hotels. This was good value and quirky if you like that. We had the owners suite which consisted of a bedroom a sitting room and a good bathroom with shower. I have no idea what you would use the spare room for and there is a deep bath in the bedroom again beyond me but my wife said it was romantic, a recipe for flooding the floor below if you ask me. ( anyway completely useable.) Very steep steeps up to the bedroom but they did kindly carry our case without being asked which was nice. Great breakfast no complaints everything you could ask for. All in all great value at under £100 and that's from a B&B novice. Would stay again. The place was full so that's says something I think.

Review 25:Nothing!

Review 26:Lovely room, bathroom and location. Excellent breakfast, spoiled for choice! Friendly and hospitable welcome. Liked the Happy Hour and Honesty Bar.

Review 27:Felt that as it was 5* someone should have checked safe was usable before we arrived. Cooked breakfast was good but buffet selection was not consistent Small coffee maker in room useless for two people Not the best 5* accommodation we have had Felt it was rather pretentious Would have liked 'picnic' in room but no appropriate table/chairs

Review 28:Location was good

Review 29:The slipper bath was amazing and the pillows were like sinking into marshmallows. Excellent breakfast too especially the Roxbro rosti. Would definitely stay again. Very welcoming staff.

Review 30:We couldn't stay longer!!

Review 31:The welcome from Claire was warm and friendly. We were shown around and given all the information we needed. We stayed in room three which was the side room at the house and was very quiet and most comfy! The room was immaculately clean and very well presented with lovely little touches of chocolates and biscuits on arrival! The fresh milk provided at our door every morning was lovely and was better than the uht rubbish you normally get in less quality establishment's . Having had great nights sleep we had the most amazing breakfast served by Claire. We also used the hot tub facility and this was set up just for us at our request with no question at all. I would highly recommend this establishment the attention to detail and service was impeccable . Will definitely visit again!!!!

Review 32:Breakfasts ,comfortable bed, good view, and welcome; privacy and freedom to come and go as wished; availability of a good evening hamper of food and wine at modest extra cost. A good alternative to a quality hotel - boutique style. Individual attention when required.

Review 33:Good food, comfortable room and bed. Proprietors very friendly but not intrusive with guests given total privacy. Reserved parking immediately outside the Guest House.

Review 34:Nothing to dislike

Review 35:Attention to detail, fresh milk, crisp white tray cloth, fresh biscuits, chocolates, breakfast table beautifully laid, sense of family around you, wine cheese if you wanted it

Review 36:For a mature couple who at quite tall and sadly quite wide, the bed wasnt quite wide enough but it was comfy enough.

Review 37:The breakfast was fabulous - lots of choice including kippers!

Review 38:Nothing.

Review 39:Just got back from a lovely 3 nights with my wife at Roxbro House. Great place and we were warmly welcomed by Tim and Susan who did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Accommodation is individual and spotless. Fantastic powerful show in our room with an excellent view of Warkworth Castle. Lovely cooked breakfast in the morning, First class and thoroughly recommended.

Review 40:That our stay was too short.

Review 41:Enjoyed its rustic charm with modern amenities. The Bath tub was AMAZING! The bedding made one want to linger all day and the mouthwatering breakfast had all local ingredients. One word... BACON! Its local is perfect. Staff was friendly and went out of their way for us as we arrived late in the evening. Nothing bad to say at all. We are definitely returning.

Review 42:The rooms were red hot too hot to sleep at night even with the windows open . no cheese and wine in room as stated it would be.staff member said times were 4-6pm we arrived 6.05pm this was not stated when we booked ( time slot) also no flowers as stated in booking

Review 43:Lovely night away ,fab location ,nice staff ,the breakfast was a defo winner so well done to the cook !!

Review 44:Only thing I was a bit disappointed with didn't realise till we got there I couldn't leave my 2 dogs in room unattended at any time including breakfast. Only time apart from when I was there in the room was they were allowed at the wine and cheese hour 5-6. Just as well I went in the car not via train!

Review 45:Accommodation very nice and well worth the money. Wine & cheese hour added extra. Great breakfast rooms had nice little touches

Review 46:A warm welcome and wonderfully friendly staff made our stay extremely comfortable. The breakfast was delicious each morning with fresh coffee, tea and smoothies on offer. Would be an absolute delight to stay there again and I most certainly plan on it soon.

Review 47:Very warm welcome and friendly greeting each morning at breakfast. We had a very comfortable room in this lovely house. The town is very attractive with many interesting shops as well as having plenty of historical associations, all set in a wonderful part of the world. What more could you want?

Review 48:Nothing at all to pick fault with

Review 49:We loved everything about Roxbro House, the furnishing was just like going back in time to a beautiful era of finery and quality. Very friendly clean and excellent location. The Hotel fits in with the surrounding I admire what the owners have done. The breakfast was so good we didn't eat again till eve. Complimentary wine cheese and cake between 5-6 pm is a great way to meet other guests. Will be visiting again sooooon

Review 50:our room was a bit dark because at the side of the house with a small window and a very large tree outside - nothing can be done about that. Would try and choose a different room if staying here again.

Review 51:hospitable and characterful, great catering, complimentary cheese and wine gave chance to talk to other guests, good location for exploring Northumbria, plenty of dining choices in Warkworth and from the B&B

Review 52:There was nothing to dislike about the Roxbro

Review 53:Everything,cleanliness, comfort, personal touches, friendliness the Roxbro Hotel has the lot 5 star Thank You Stuart Pike

Review 54:Room was lovely with walkworth castle just outside. Breakfasts were the best we have had at a b&b. Friendly , family run. Central to visit lots of places, castles , houses & a lovely place to walk. Would stay again.

Review 55:Small window, had to have all the lights on in my room for it to feel bright. Salt and pepper pots empty, had to borrow from other tables.

Review 56:Beautifully appointed rooms with character. Extras such as free wine and cheese and chocolates, Breakfast was lovely.

Review 57:There are only positives with a stay at Roxbro House. A friendly greeting upon arrival from Claire the owner that immediately makes you feel welcome. A delightful property beautifully furnished throughout, located at the foot of Warkworth Castle, which gives a fabulous view especially from the Ethel Noble room. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay that bit more special with extra touches in your room such as robes and slippers, fruit, chocolates, fresh milk for tea/coffee, wine glasses so you can also enjoy a drink. Complimentary cheese and wine is also available between 5pm and 6pm, which is a lovely start to the evening. There is a good range to choose from at breakfast with the help yourself buffet and a varied hot menu cooked to order. The Rosti is excellent can certainly recommend it, a nice change to what would be my usual choice of a full English. Overall, 10 /10, our only regret is that we had not booked for a longer stay.

Review 58:Toiletries could have been replenished - a very minor blip.

Review 59:Location, Rooms furnished sympathetically with the building and area, breakfasts, generally excellent all round.

Review 60:Nothing not to like about this fantastic place.

Review 61:It felt like stepping back in time where quality really mattered. There was a slipper bath in the corner and beautiful silk curtains and bed covers. It was quirky and full of personality. The breakfast was the best I have ever had - hotel OR bed and breakfast. The added touches were superb - a glass of wine and cheese served between 5 and 6 where we met and socialised with other guests staying there. It was in a beautiful location. The owners were away at the time but the young lady who greeted us was fantastic (and funny).

Review 62:Genuinely can't find any faults.

Review 63:Roxbro house was one of (if not) the best places we have stayed. The rooms were spacious and decorated to a high standard. The breakfast menu was amazing, the staff couldn't have been more friendly and we simply didn't want to leave. We will most certainly be returning!

Review 64:The room (No.3) was gloomy and dark. The late breakfasts at 8.30. The milk delivered to the room for the early morning cuppa was always too late.

Review 65:We liked the friendliness of the owners. We enjoyed the breakfasts but the coffee was weak but improved through the week.

Review 66:Comfortable period house. Proprietors provided many little "extras" which made a real difference. Wonderful breakfast menu more than just full English. Good location for touring. On-site parking.

Review 67:Fantastic location facing castle in small village, Warm friendly staff, 'Happy Hour' in the lounge, Excellent quality breakfast and lovely menu.

Review 68:Plan ahead for a meal in the evening as the immediate local pubs and restaurants might not be too everyones tastes. The room we booked was on the main road which was a bit noisy traffic wise on a hot night.

Review 69:Room was comfortable and ambience was perfect. There were lots of little extras that were pleasant surprises and a nice touch.

Review 70:Nothing

Review 71:The room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The beds were comfortable and the service was unobtrusive whist providing everything that we needed. The breakfasts were absolutely superb, prepared to order, had variety and tasted wonderful.

Review 72:Parking can be a little difficult if like us you have a large car - my Jaguar XF was OK but the parking spaces are a bit steep.

Review 73:If you are looking for an excellent and charming hotel in this part of Northumberland, look no further. This is a delightful family run hotel is set in a perfect small town with bags of history. The decoration and furniture are magnificent and create a warm welcoming feel. This welcome is further enhanced by the owners who could not have been more friendly. There are some wonderful surprise touches which only served to make our stay all the better. I will not divulge them all otherwise there would be no surprise but what a joy it was to have fresh milk delivered to the room each morning (and available all day). Nothing at this establishment is overlooked. Breakfast is also a joy. Designed to set you up for the whole day the menu is as interesting as the rest of the hotel. No simple ‘English or Continental’ here but an excellent choice of innovative and wonderfully prepared delights. Believe me the Eggs Benedict is to die for and all prepared to order. We had a wonderful stay and if back in the area will certainly hope to stay again.

Review 74:Car parking can be slightly hazardous due due position to main road and incline.
