Reviews for Mannings Hotel

Review 1:The staff were excellent, and gave us a great welcome. We dined in the restaurant, and the food was lovely and also a great price! The room was well presented and clean and tidy with all the facilities we have come to expect.

Review 2:thought room service could have been held on for later . needed to eat after the show around half ten and there was nothing but a local kebab shop

Review 3:great blend of professionalism and friendliness

Review 4:the cocktail bar staff are quite rude! when waiting to be served, (and we were the only people waiting) we were not even acknowleged they were to busy making cocktails, a simple hello and i'll be with you in a moment would have been nice its only because we said to each other how rude is this are we invisible, not going to wait much longer... then we were acknowledged also a member of staff was sipping through a straw the remains of cocktails hed just made !!!! surely this is not allowed??

Review 5:breakfast staff very friendly there is a middle aged lady who I think has been there for years always makes are stay pleasant, stayed in hotel this time but must admit quite noisy room much prefer the apartments will stay again but in apartments.

Review 6:Having a room at front was very noisy and we did not sleep any night, room hot and stuffy and you need a lift!!!

Review 7:Location marvellous, parking an added bonus, breakfast very good

Review 8:Our room was very close to fans which were noisy with very ordinary views over the car park and roof of bar. But we have noticed in other hotels that Bookings .com get allocated the worst rooms. Poor mattress.

Review 9:Facilities are good having a lovely restaurant on site is ideal. The location is perfect for a city break.

Review 10:Location is perfect being town center yet with excellent and cheap protected parking it is ideal for a city stay. Staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is relaxed yet efficient. Room a good size and clean, bed comfortable and bathroom a little dated but clean and serviceable. Would definitely stay again. Restaurant service and food choice excellent. Staff friendly and helpful and good value from a full menu..

Review 11:Excellent location in town centre with parking. Warm and quiet room with lovely bathroom and a fabulous cooked breakfast. Brilliant staff - polite and helpful.

Review 12:As an OAP I would have found a lift helpful. The heating in the room was not available during the day and as I needed to be in the hotel sometimes this meant a cold room part of the time.

Review 13:The hotel is very centrally located and is very quiet. The room was well appointed and comfortable. The cooked breakfast was very nice.

Review 14:The hotel is located in the heart of the City Truro with private parking which is a real bonus. The hotel staff were so accommodating & friendly in the hotel itself through to the restaurant & bar. Excellent service, great food & lovely cocktails to round up our Anniversary weekend. We will stay again.

Review 15:Choice of starters in the restaurant very limited as about to change the next day. Bathroom tired, chipped bath. Sash Windows drafty

Review 16:Restaurant, location, parking, staff, cleanliness all excellent.

Review 17:No coffee making facilities in the room which was unusually and unnecessarily large. Town centre therefore very noisy both at night and in the morning. Strange window fastenings; not intuitive to close as left open in November. Smell of stale shower curtain in bathroom (reason why window open)? Clock in bedroom two hours slow - nearly missed breakfast. Table not correctly laid at breakfast (presumably not corrected from previous occupant). All a bit pedantic maybe but it stops it being considered excellent in my opinion.

Review 18:Everything was fine but certainly not excellent. Staff very accommodating and friendly.

Review 19:A little more wardrobe space would have been nice but that wasn't really a problem since we only stayed for the weekend.

Review 20:Friendly and helpful staff allowed us to move into our room early after a long overnight journey, which we appreciated. Bright, comfortable room. Very clean. We made use of the bar where the house wine was very decent.

Review 21:There is no lift to the top floor, a lot of stairs to walk up and down especially with luggage and for elderly people. The room was very hot being at the top of the hotel, windows were wide open but then all I could hear is the seagulls early hours in the morning.

Review 22:Lovely hotel, service was brilliant and staff were very pleasant and well manured.

Review 23:Had a late check in, reception very welcoming helpful & informative. Wifi very good strength & speed. Stayed in room 10, spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed & very well equipped with quality fittings. Shower piping hot. Complementary drink in bar, glass of wine or a pint. Reception reserved me a table in restaurant where staff were very welcoming and pleasant for single person in a room full of groups & couples. Breakfast everything you could want. Hotel is ideally situated for all major town centre businesses & attractions.

Review 24:Staff at check in rather insisted on me producing a passport. I insisted that a driving license should be adequate. This was accepted with very poor grace. Poor continental breakfast included - an upgrade to full English was offered!

Review 25:Excellent location particularly if one is attending a concert at the Hall for Cornwall. The drawback is that the Market Square can be very noisy

Review 26:the shower in my room did not warm up very well

Review 27:The staff were very friendly and helpful. atmospher is warm and inviting also the restaurant was amazing

Review 28:Had to keep window closed - noise & smells from large kitchen extractor on roof outside 6.30am-late evening. Wifi mostly didn't work in the room. Decor in room dreary.

Review 29:Central location, good restaurant.

Review 30:Very noisy within the apartment block above and next to the bedroom where the stairwell is. People dragging their suitcases down stairs etc

Review 31:The beautiful apartment and the garden right next door.

Review 32:It's a niggle more then a dislike but felt while the rooms were well sized, clean and comfy could I'd carried a little more of the opulence of the restaurant area.

Review 33:The hotel is lovely overall nicely refurbished restaurant and bar. Excellent and helpful staff private parking and bang in the centre of truro.

Review 34:I'm sorry to have to say this as everything else was top notch, but the position of the toilet, while appearing to be a minor issue if you didn't need to use it, really spoiled an otherwise pleasant hotel experience. The toilet was pinned in between the end of the bath and the bathroom wall, in a space so tiny that you could not move to, er, clean yourself. This really was a major fault in my opinion. I have no way of knowing whether all the rooms are the same or if it was just ours (28).

Review 35:Central location, Pleasant staff, parking.

Review 36:Room 17 suffered from the window being near to the kitchen extractor fan. Cooking smells are present in the room. Shutting the window kept most smells out. We weighed up asking for a different room, against the hassle of moving our stuff and decided to stay put.

Review 37:Staff-reception, waiting staff and bar staff, all very good. Great cocktails.

Review 38:If it'd have been a premier inn we'd have got our money back. Rooms windows wouldn't seal shut room so noisy we didn't get to sleep till 4am, room seriously needs secondary glazing fitting to make it worth the £95 a night rate, breakfast, not really clear that only continental is included, English an additional £15 a couple on too of what you e already paid making it £110 a night.

Review 39:Hotels location and parking great

Review 40:The ease of booking in and the helpfulness of the night duty receptionist. The clear instructions regarding parking and the hotel facilities. The friendliness and helpfulness of the waiting staff.

Review 41:The bathroom was tiny and the shower ran hot and cold. I had to jump out of the way at one point as the water was hot enough to scald, the next minute it was chilly. Also the complimentary water wasn't available for 2 of our 4 days.

Review 42:the room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable. It was very clean.

Review 43:Bed sheets weren't changed just turned over, the room was very small and had very little to offer

Review 44:Modern reception, friendly staff, 24 hour access, late check in.

Review 45:Didn't like that you had to pay extra for cooked breakfast when we paid £135 for the night. Only continental breakfast was included in the price (Why?) It did state it on the terms when I booked but I did not see it. The older waitress at breakfast was a bit off. We said we were ready to order, she said she'd come back and she didn't. The younger waitress took our order no problem.

Review 46:The food in the restaurant in the evening was nice and the staff polite and pleasant. Very nice apartment.

Review 47:Being charged £6 per day to park the car. Coffee machine was broken. Bathroom in need of attention.Towel rail in bathroom hanging off the wall, toilet was loose (it moved when sat on). Continental breakfast, you pay a supplement for anything cooked.

Review 48:Location, complimentary drink in the bar.

Review 49:Room was top floor apartment and far too hot with no control over heating - small fan provided but was noisy and hard to sleep with. Lots of cobwebs and dust. Coffee machine in room came with no instructions and was broke and falling apart anyway. Had to get our key reset 4 times during a weekend stay because it kept deactivating and locking us out which was a nuisance.

Review 50:Good central location, excellent food, friendly staff

Review 51:Perfect location and very good accomadation . The staff are very friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The menu is heaven - try the Honeycomb Parfait!

Review 52:Expensive for what it offers. Dining room is a little soul-less. Dinner menu not very adventurous.

Review 53:Central location. Decent but small bar. Spacious room though our daughter's single room was VERY small. Helpful reception staff.

Review 54:Parking fees were not included in the price. At breakfast not a lot of choice of Bread, only toast, which to me is not very continental.

Review 55:Very quiet, Nice bed, in the centre of truro, Nice food at breakfast and dinner.

Review 56:Additional charge for Breakfast seem high when Continental is included. Car Park charges could be included. Room suffered from cooking smells.

Review 57:Staff were excellent and friendly Location was superb..

Review 58:The only think we thought was misleading was the breakfast. We were told if u wanted a cooked breakfast you had to pay for it after it saying breakfast was included in the price. Other than that it was fantastic.

Review 59:Location was fab. Hotel was spotless very enjoyable stay. Thank you.

Review 60:Toast! I know it sounds trivial, but like many hotels the toast is delivered very lightly warmed and soggy. Eventually, a member of staff sorted it out.

Review 61:Modern feel, very smart, excellent staff

Review 62:Didn't really like having to pay £6 per day for parking but it was great to have the facility.

Review 63:The apartment was clean and attended to every day - we didn't have to bring any towels. Excellent central location, plenty of places to eat and lots of shops, not far to drive to the many attractions across Cornwall. All of the staff were really friendly, especially at breakfast (Kerra) and evening meals (Hayley). We liked the breakfast options and were really impressed that Kerra remembered that I drink decaffeinated tea and that I am pregnant so if I ordered eggs or bacon, she immediately asked if I wanted them well done, which was very well remembered considering there were lots of other guests - a very respectful member of staff. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 64:We made a mistake with our booking making it a month later than we required. The staff were very helpful and were able to arrange other accommodation for the first night as they were full and moved our second night. They made other changes so that we ended up not being out of pocket. All staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was a problem for them.

Review 65:Bed was too hard; Noisy; For breakfast, you need to ask for the sausages, eggs and something else

Review 66:6 minutes by bus from the rail station; M&S, Tesco, Debenhams and bus station are nearby; Every customer can get a cup of free wine or soft drink before 11.00pm; Restaurant downstairs

Review 67:As always with a town centre location - there was a quite a lot of traffic noise and Saturday night revellers at 1am!

Review 68:Fantastic central location Friendly helpful staff

Review 69:Continental breakfast had only sweet options. Which I don't like. Other was available but not included. Also £6 charge for car park.

Review 70:Felt a bit told off for having not rung the hotel as had booked that morning via booking.com. I was told they might not have been informed and might have booked room themselves (?)

Review 71:The lack of an elevator especially as we were placed on the top floor.

Review 72:Room and general hotel maintained to a pristine and fresh level. Staff very friendly and helpful. Secure parking facility. Excellent breakfast.

Review 73:Wifi wasn't working. Rooms on the top floor in the roof aren't ideal when you are 6'3" The last two times we have stayed we have ended up on the top floor. Other rooms are better.

Review 74:We stay regularly and we love the location, friendly staff and style of the hotel.

Review 75:Charges for parking within hotel grounds, no lifts to 2nd floor. Some rooms face over air on units which are noisy and therefore can't leave the windows open, no air on in room. Wifi down for duration of stay, not tech support to resolve issues.

Review 76:The location was great for seeing Cornwall, most places within 30 mins. Nice and central. Good selection of pubs and restaurants near by.

Review 77:Excellent hotel in great position with staff who were very pleasant and helpful. Superb bar, again with great staff who mix a mean cocktail. Will certainly stay here again when in the area.

Review 78:Staff need to inprove breakfast service skills regarding coffee/tea topup and ensuring all customers are asked about ham/cheese and cooked options vs some being ignored. Booking.com request for child cot did not reach hotel, or they tried to reply and couldn't according to manager. We did not receive an email regarding this.

Review 79:Great location in centre of town. 20 Mon walk from train station, 5 from bus. Large, quality breakfast selection. Large, well-appointed apartment with everything you could need for a comfortable week long stay.

Review 80:Would have been good if the continental breakfast had included meats and cheese.als be good if there had been a lift.

Review 81:The food in the restaurant and dyson fan in bedroom really good.

Review 82:It wasn't a bad experience, I would just have liked to have been able to open the window properly.

Review 83:Friendliness and the location were excellent. The food was very good and the room and bed very comfortable.

Review 84:The noise in this room was very bad had seagull fighting outside our window people shouting and some clock chiming I normally am a very heavy sleeper if I had an hour the whole night I'd be supprised

Review 85:Nothing bad to say about my stay.

Review 86:The staff really are amazing. Annie and the team in the restaurant are the most efficient, polite, friendly front of house staff I've ever come across. Even when people didn't use their manners! So professional and pleasant. I would stay again just for that. Food is great, as is the wine. Beautiful holiday.

Review 87:Wifi in room was poor at best. Sometimes worked very slowly and other times not at all

Review 88:Great location for exploring the city. Apartment well appointed and spacious, ideal for staying as a family with little ones.

Review 89:No lift, which when you are on the third floor is a bit of a pain.

Review 90:The hotel is very clean and the staff are very helpful. It has its own gated car park which for a city center location is great.

Review 91:Paying extra for a cooked breakfast. The older part of the building is good but a little noisy in rooms facing the road until about 11:00.

Review 92:Central location is great with the bonus of gated parking. Very comfortable bed.

Review 93:This is not really anything that can be fixed easily, but it was very warm, and our room's windows were nailed close, and there was no air conditioning. I think this must be a regular issue as suddenly and without us asking a fan arrived in the room which did help.

Review 94:I found the stay very enjoyable, customer service was quite exceptional from the moment we walked through the door every member of staff was friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel has a very welcoming feel.

Review 95:Noise from air-conditioning (?) outlet adjacent to window of room (11) made getting to sleep difficult.

Review 96:The staff - consistently excellent; the general ambience.

Review 97:smelly shower curtain, otherwise clean bathroom; noisy ventilator day and night right in front of window (room 11)

Review 98:great location, 3 minutes from bus station with excellent connections to almost anywhere in Cornwall. Friendly, very professional staff, large, functional room, excellent wifi connection, good continental breakfast.

Review 99:The baby seagull sleeping on the car and the divebombing parents trying to keep us away from the car. Couldnt have been helped though :)

Review 100:Complimentry drink and bottled water on arrival was great! Breakfast was lovely and room was beautiful

Review 101:a lift would have been nice - but you are unable to do so as it is a listed building

Review 102:comfort - just a few steps from the Hall for Cornwall-- excellent food - dinner and breakfast

Review 103:Our room had the hotel's extractor fan outside and we had to keep the window closed because of the smell of cooking and noise.

Review 104:The location was excellent as we had come to Truro to visit the Hall for Cornwall theatre.

Review 105:good location, close to the theatre which was our purpose for the overnight stay. Good restaurant but a little expensive. We would use the hotel again if in the area.

Review 106:Very comfortable clean hotel with very friendly helpful staff. Nice sized room. Excellent location and car park was very handy. Nice touch to have a free welcome drink.

Review 107:Thought the bathroom was ready for updating.

Review 108:Only stayed one night ... staff ensured we had early access to our room after 7 hour journey to Truro which was much appreciated.

Review 109:Our room was not air-conditioned and although electric fan was in room, at night either had the noise associated therewith or if window left open the early morning wake up from the sea gulls

Review 110:Very friendly staff and excellent location

Review 111:The car park lights were on all night and as our room backed on to the car park this caused us some difficulty sleeping.

Review 112:The room was well-appointed and comfortable. The self-catering facilities were modern and fully equipped.

Review 113:Great food, fantastic location, spacious room & we'll equipped bathroom. The restaurant is a must, superb local food specialities, exceptional quality & fantastic service from attentive (but not excessive) staff

Review 114:Suggest to book a room on first floor, our room on third floor with no lift! Exhausting! However the room was top rate.

Review 115:Comfortable, clean and modern facilities in a central location.

Review 116:only the seagulls, took some cleaning

Review 117:all pretty good, secure parking except for the seagulls.Surrounded by very good restaurants all within a easy walk.Room good a little small.Nice facilties and friendly staff.

Review 118:Nothing to dislike, very good value for money.

Review 119:Position of this hotel is perfect, right in the centre of Truro. Well worth using the hotel car park as cost is minimal. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely recommend and use again.

Review 120:No onstreet parking, the hotel carpark was £6.00. Reception staff could have been friendlier Breakfast staff forgot I had ordered toast so I had to ask which made me feel like Id bothered them

Review 121:free glass of wine on arrival, free bottles of water for guests, the bar was cosy and the room was bigger than expected.

Review 122:There were no dislikes, but I wasn't aware that the bedding duvets and pillows are feather filled and since I have an allergy to feathers I needed to ask for these to be replaced with a synthetic filled option. The staff were very accommodating of this.

Review 123:A very comfortable and clean room, modern luxury style. Friendly and helpful staff. Located central in Truro and a few steps to the Royal Hall for Cornwall Theatre, so excellent stay for a night out at the Theatre. I would add that the hotel has an excellent restaurant with creative well thought out menu, selection of vegetarian options and excellent service.

Review 124:It was great going back after not been for a few years, it still had great food and the staff was very helpful and friendly, and being central to the town was great.

Review 125:We are allergic to feathers, informed hotel of this prior to arrival. So got given one non allergenic pillow each and non allergenic duvet.when asked for another non allergenic pillow, was given dusty feather pillows. Room was on first floor and there is no .air conditioning on floors one and two (despite advertising air con when booking on website). Window barely opened. At breakfast got looked at like a piece of dirt by young lady checking us in to buffet. made me stressed and uncomfortable.

Review 126:Comfortable bed. Nice hotel entrance. surprisingly quiet at night. Some staff very pleasant. Fridge with free water for guests in hotel entrance(although empty when we wanted one).

Review 127:We had booked an apartment, based on the photos and description on this website. They were misleading. The kitchen was not a separate room but instead in the corner of the bedroom. There was no "separate TV lounge" as described. "Luxury bathroom fitted with a shower" was a large public swimming pool showers-type room with uneven tiles, grubby grouting that needed a deep clean, shower in the corner with no tray or shower screen, and poor water pressure from the shower.

Review 128:Fantastic location, with onsite parking (fee-payable but cheaper than in town). Kitchen in the apartment was modern, clean, and well-equipped.

Review 129:We've stayed before and had beautiful rooms but this time our room was very small and rather shabby (particularly the bathroom) in comparison to previous visits - rather disappointing :-(

Review 130:Great location. Clean.

Review 131:It might be helpful to inquire what floor your room is on when booking - no lift. The hotel sign needs to project at right angles to the building - we walked right past it!.

Review 132:Excellent staff service and friendly attitude. Appreciated the thought behind the choice of sound-track for breakfast.

Review 133:Although pleasant enough the styling of the hotel is a bit corporate and so feels anonymous. There is an air conditioning unit on the roof outside the first-floor rooms at the back which is a bit noisy if you like to sleep with the window open, as I do. The bar closed early on the night of our arrival - at 11pm (on a Friday night!) rather than the advertised closing time of 12 midnight.

Review 134:Well positioned in the centre of Truro this is a clean, well-run hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. They handled a late check-in with no fuss. A free drink at the bar on arrival and a free bottle of water for guests to take to their rooms are nice touches. The bed was very comfortable.

Review 135:The room was large, light and airy. Heating good as although spring was cold outside. Bed comfortable, breakfast good and staff very efficient. My second stay whilst visiting family in Truro and will certainly book again.
