Reviews for Sewerby Grange

Review 1:We felt like an inconvenience. 'White towels ' very grubby ! We're told restaurant not open Boxing Day nor the day after ! We worked extremely hard and looked forward to a meal in the restaurant ! Would NOT recommend . The price we paid was ridiculous for this 2 star ! Change staff ! A welcome smile would been nice ! But certainly never go back and will infirm our business colleagues likewise !!

Review 2:Location

Review 3:NOTHING

Review 4:Lovely peace full place to stay in it's own large open grounds.Bed was very comfortable in a larger than average room.Bathroom was clean & big enough, also warm when you got out of shower having a big towel radiator on wall [could do with some bigger towels though].Also going at the end of October,Which at this time of gets a bit nippy, the room and hotel was kept warm.Plenty of space to park your car safe .The lady owner of the hotel very friendly & welcoming as is all the staff.Breakfast ok .We have booked again for same time next year

Review 5:Excellent overnight stay in a friendly and welcoming establishment. We used the Bistro for evening meal and found the food of an excellent quality and price. Would definitely re-book on our next visit.

Review 6:Very small bathroom. Did not realise from www.booking.com that the restaurant and bar are closed Monday and Tuesday - the days we had booked.

Review 7:Wonderful location, excellent hospitality, very good breakfasts. Very helpful in recommending local restaurants

Review 8:The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Owners very helpful and the food was excellent . Car parking was good and it was within walking distance to Sewerby park and the cliff top walk into Bridlington'

Review 9:A comfortable relaxing break in a lovely peaceful setting. Ideal as a base for visiting the many local attractions and lovely walks. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 10:Skimpy duvets, cold room. Worn armchairs. Many stairs, including up to the en-suite, despite request for 'few' stairs. Not as clean as expected, especially downstairs toilet.Room not ready at time stated.

Review 11:Nice location. Quiet.

Review 12:couldn't sit in the lounge as it was locked most of the day, alternative seating was rather dull and comfortless

Review 13:location, food and comfort of rooms

Review 14:Not overly impressed with towels in bathroom which were threadbare with bits of cotton hanging off them!

Review 15:Good location within walking distance along coast path to Bridlington. Comfortable room with nice view.

Review 16:The facilities and location were perfect for our requirements. Sewerby Grange was welcoming, comfortable and clean. I plan to visit again probably with more people.

Review 17:The hotel room itself was lovely, and so was the breakfast - the staff were very obliging too. but we booked this hotel on the basis is had a restaurant and bar. Whilst we were there, neither of these were open due to wedding being held (several evenings). I understand this is probably where they get most of there revenue from but if that's the case don't advertise the restaurant and bar.

Review 18:The hotel is in lovely surroundings and Sewerby is a nice place, also not too far from the coast.

Review 19:odd bits of cleaning were missed but it's because only one cleaner and very busy hotel, my wife and I are disabled enjoyed it very much, I was not too well the time I stopped so ate very little my wife had the breakfast she enjoyed it,

Review 20:We had 2 nights bed and breakfast 3 days stay, the room was brilliant the bed very comfortable and clean as we're the bathroom facilities, friendly staff, my wife and I are disabled our room was very nice first floor no lift but steady away,

Review 21:The property is very dated and in need of a coat of paint, wallpaper was peeling off, cobwebs in 2 corners of room, shower cubical was broken, toilet roll holder hanging from wall.

Review 22:Location was excellent

Review 23:The location is excellent looking down over Bridlington Bay and the grounds are very pleasant. Our room was large, comfortable and had everything we needed.

Review 24:Not enough towels in the bathroom.

Review 25:The hotel is set and fantastic grounds and in a beautiful village just a short away from the cliffe tops of Bridlington very quite location perfect.

Review 26:On site Bistro closed at 7.30 on one night so couldn't get a drink. Later found that owner would have opened up the bar in the hotel for us but we did not know that.

Review 27:Friendly, helpful staff; Excellent breakfast.

Review 28:The food was excellent, staff really helpful and friendly and the grange is beautiful. It was our first holiday for our baby girl and we had a lovely relaxing stay, thank you.

Review 29:In the room we were allocated the TV was difficult to use and was sometimes temperamental. The bed itself was extremely comfortable but the pillows were past their 'best before' date. The kettle was very limed up but this was rectified as soon as we mentioned it to the cleaner, but the filter definitely left a little to be desired.

Review 30:The staff were very helpful and cheerful, the location was lovely and quiet and the car parking was excellent. It was nice to have the option of using the bistro in the evening.

Review 31:Only fault I could find was the weather wasn't brilliant!

Review 32:It was situated in just the right place for walking to different locations without the effort. Also liked the bistro with its log fired pizza oven a must for pizza lovers.

Review 33:The wifi didn't work most of the time.

Review 34:Cozy, nice place, with a good restaurant. Small village, but close enough for my target location. A town in walking distance.

Review 35:Think toiletries could be supplied. Did not like the idea of sharing a shower gel or body lotion used by someone else. One of the towels had a hole in it. Also no one to greet us on arrival.

Review 36:Location excellent. Very peaceful.

Review 37:Would have liked a bath but knew on booking that this was not an option on the room we booked

Review 38:Peace and tranquility of the surroundings. Decor and furnishings of a high standard.

Review 39:A member of staff left a bunch of keys in the lock of our room door, the room was unlocked. Not secure at all. Only one lamp in the bedroom. Staff were noisy clearing up after bistro shut. Parking limited when bistro and restaurant open.

Review 40:it was very clean and comfortable. Friendly staff.

Review 41:More of a b&b experience than a full hotel, as the bar and restaurant were only open on one night of our stay, although this did not affect our enjoyment on this occasion.

Review 42:Upgrade to a larger room meant we had plenty of space during our three night stay. The food on the one night we were able to eat here in the Bistro was very good, as were the coffee and wine.

Review 43:The bedroom curtains did not meet in the middle- only found out when we returned at night. No hairdryer. No plug in the sink. Hot water took several minutes to become warm- trickled out of the tap.

Review 44:The position/ grounds. The lady who dealt with us was helpful, but appeared to have too much to attend to by herself.

Review 45:The building has been neglected and needs some money spent on it. Shower room was tiny and leaked. Bar and restaurant not open 7 days a week, but this is mentioned on their website.

Review 46:The location was quite and the front bedrooms have a sea view. The external building was most grand. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly. We heard the restaurant and bistro do very good food, but our stay conincided with the closed evenings.

Review 47:Downstairs bar and relax lounge locked up and have to wait for owner to open it. The lounge area for guest is like a taxi waiting room.

Review 48:Large traditional room, wonderful breakfast and great host. Nice quiet setting.

Review 49:new year was a big dissapointment had to find somewere else to see new year in .the seating are nr the reception was cold and uninviting..

Review 50:compliments to the chef excellant meal but a bit pricey

Review 51:Bar wasn't open as owners were away but we did getting offered birthed beer on arrival to drink in the room.

Review 52:Staff were very friendly, couldn't do enough for us at breakfast and the bed was very comfortable.

Review 53:Nothing to not like.

Review 54:Overall everything was what we expected, the bed was so comfortable, one of the best we have ever slept in. Breakfast was wholesome, fresh and plentyful and evening meal was freshly cooked and tasty. Lovely old former vicarge with a wonderful setting

Review 55:Nothing to say here!

Review 56:Easy to locate, very good Yorkshire welcome. Good room with well appointed en suite. Plentiful hot water in very good shower. Staff very pleasant and food excellent. Provided room service for dinner when a wedding was in progress. Would certainly visit again.

Review 57:My husband would have liked some cider on tap in the bar, but this is only a very small niggle and did not contribute in any way to ruining our stay.

Review 58:It is situated in the lovely village of Sewerby, a very short walk away from the most wonderful area of public land, with the most breathtaking views. The food was excellent. Hot, served with a smile and nothing was too much trouble for Amanda and her team. Beautiful room, very well appointed. We left my chargers behind and they have agreed to post them to us ASAP. Such service! We will definitely be visiting Sewerby Grange next year.

Review 59:There was an issue with hot water and the shower was running cold, though the staff got a plumber immediately, it was too late for a morning shower.

Review 60:Friendly staff, well appointed and comfortable room/en suite, nice Bistro restaurant to rear.

Review 61:It would have been useful to know in advance that the restaurant was closed on the two nights we were there,

Review 62:A very peasant place to stare. The room was excellent and the breakfast varied and substantial, The location is perfect if' like us you enjoy walking.

Review 63:No one on reception. Vase and flowers in reception had dirty water gone green flowers dead. The room we got was not the room we thought we had booked. There was no restaurant available. Just a bistro for one night only. I had to point out that the cloth the girl was using to wipe tables was filthy. There was no one around to answer any questions. I

Review 64:The location is excellent Our room was spacious and clean and quiet. The breakfast was good

Review 65:There was nothing I didn't like. The duvet, maybe, and the bedding, were a bit basic. Otherwise lovely.

Review 66:Intimate and friendly, nicely furnished hotel. Excellent, daily-changing seafood menu - wonderful food and reasonably priced; beautiful building and setting. The nearby Sewerby fields have amazing views from the cliff-top, across the North Sea. A quiet and peaceful oasis on the Yorkshire Coast...

Review 67:It seems to me that if anything goes wrong the management ethos is to punish the punter. In an emergency you are told to phone one of 2 land lines or 1 of 2 mobiles. There was no phone in the room. What about customers who don't have mobiles. No reception ever - plenty of locked doors downstairs. According to the literature in the room - not on line I might add, the restaurant closes 3 nights a week at the least. If bookings for dinner are low they reserve the right to NOT open. Not good. We as residents could not use the brasserie because of another function. No loyalty to residents. I think the lady on the staff with an A in business studies should be better used. This business will fail unless things change or the owner is a foolish millionaire. Very, Very, Very disappointed. Finally what does "no children " mean ???????

Review 68:This is our second stay this year. Firstly the rooms are great very comfy and relaxing. The breakfast is good and the portions and choice are great for everyone. Lovely hotel. Also great location to get to other places and the cliff walk is my favourite

Review 69:Nothing.

Review 70:House is in restful setting, within easy walking distance to the sea, hourly bus service from main road into Bridlington, otherwise a pleasant walk there along beach path. Good Italian food at Bistro open air seating.

Review 71:The breakfast while very good quality and well prepared was only available late and for a short period compared to anywhere else we have stayed.

Review 72:Character room well cared for and in keeping with the building while managing to also look up to date and light.

Review 73:Would've preferred a bath to a shower but I knew that when I booked it.

Review 74:Real old fashioned charm, the stone building makes for large rooms and a quiet night. The bistro at the bottom of the garden is lovely, best steak I've had in a long time. 200 yds across open grass to the beach and within an easy walk of Sewerby Hall and the Zoo. Close enough to Bridlington, but also just far away enough to avoid the madding crowds. Nice breakfast - black pudding, yum!

Review 75:Nothing to dislike

Review 76:Just spent three superb days at Sewerby Grange everything first class. Bistro fantastic value.we achieved what we set out to do and had three days break in a relaxing, comfortable and very convenient venue.first class.

Review 77:On arrival after a very full day watching the Tour De France which involved a 5 am start and a 250 mile drive we arrived at Sewerby at around 7pm. We were greeted by a lady who explained that owning to an alleged faulty fax machine she had double booked our room, so we could spend the first nigh in the room we had booked and the second in the annex or spend 2 nights in the annex which we chose has we did not fancy moving again. the "annex" places to be avoided at all costs, was round the back passed grubby potacabin kitchen extention through a cheap dirty plastic door into flat roofed building. The room and bathroom were ok just, however after the first person had showered with a electric shower which needed a new hose , the second one had no hot water, and the shower buzzed, in the morning again no hot water' cold shower decided we had enjoyed about as much of this as we could stand and decided to leave. When we reported this we were told that someone had tried the shower and it was fine. The reason the shower did not work was low water pressure if someone in the building was also using the water supply at the same time as there was staff accommodation above our room. So this must be an ongoing problem. So after a mediocre breakfast we paid and left. top tip if the word annex enters the conversation leave We did receive. A reduction in the price.
