Reviews for The Ingham Swan

Review 1:No ordinary tea or coffee in room only herbal tea and expresso coffee machine. No cork screw to open bottle beer, had to go back to reception to ask for one.

Review 2:The food was excellent and room pleasant

Review 3:Outer door latch to room 4 inop. Really annoying continuous wind noise throughout the night from the window area overlooking the car park; Sounded like someone was rattling the door handle for 8 hours.

Review 4:Lovely grub, as ever

Review 5:Nothing to report

Review 6:Excellent service and high end taster menu, full of different flavours. We were unable to have breakfast due to an earylish start, but were offered bacon rolls to take-away in the morning (a small gesture but again one that adds to the service and shows thought)

Review 7:Arrived at 5.30pm after many hours driving in wet and foggy weather, we were surprised to find we were locked out. It did say check-in was from 6.00pm but we didn't expect not to be able to get into the premises. However, someone arrived almost immediately and we were able to check in very quickly, so all was well.

Review 8:Comfortable, clean and modern accommodation, Friendly and helpful staff. The meal was delicious and the service excellent.

Review 9:My husband said that the gents' toilet attached to the restaurant was a little on the smelly side and could be improved.

Review 10:An excellent welcome and the room was very pleasant. Dinner was completely up to expectations and was just right for a fiarly low key birthday celebration.

Review 11:No wardrobe or drawers; lived out of travel cases and on chair. Rooms stylish but do not work practically because of this. Attention needed to cleanliness of items such as bathroom door latches which were dirty. For the price, our enjoyment was average overall.

Review 12:Food and service

Review 13:Nothing

Review 14:Stylish, spacious & comfortable room with top class facilities. Excellent food, prepared and presented as you would expect from a fine dining restaurant. Full English breakfast is the best we've ever had.

Review 15:Little things matter, particularly when so much attention had been given to some aspects. There were two little things that left me feeling less positive than would otherwise have been the case: Firstly, I was a little disappointed by the breakfast. There was no buffet so I requested muesli, fruit and yogurt. I received a bowl of muesli with plain yogurt only. I would have preferred have served myself and been able to add berries or other fruits. I was awoken by a lorry outside in the court yard which appeared to be there to deal with blocked drains. The smell was pretty awful. These things happen but I was surprised that no mention was made by the staff and no apology offered. This did not sit well with my experience the previous evening when the staff were much friendlier and I feel sure that, had those same staff been on duty, they would have been more aware of the issue.

Review 16:The room was lovely and I appreciated the thoughtful extras such as a coffee machine and robe. Great attention to detail. My evening meal was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 17:Myself and my partner did not sleep very well all 3 nights due to the road noise, there were agricultural vehicles passing by the hotel at early hours. Also my partner is 6ft3 and struggled with the low ceilings and very small shower room.

Review 18:Myself and my partner were both really impressed by the restaurant food, drinks and service also the breakfast in the morning was exceptionally good! The room was lovely and quaint, very clean and had a well stocked mini bar.

Review 19:The dinner was superb and the room with ensuite bathroom just a delight - a first floor snug with everything I needed and a wonderful bed to sink into after a long day - all in a lovely setting and beautiful renovated historic building.

Review 20:Only downside, a lorry parked next door and emptied the sceptic tank before breakfast on the saturday morning

Review 21:service and quality of food and facilities were top drawer. Real Ale selection was excellent too (Woodfordes)

Review 22:At 6 ft 2in, it would have been good to know before we booked that the sloping ceiling of the room and bathroom/toilet would be a minus factor. Also , no reserved parking for any of the 4 rooms -disappointing that we had to park on road for a period until a slot became free.

Review 23:Excellent food

Review 24:The room & particularly the bed was exceptionally comfortable (to the extent that I have contacted the hotel regarding the bed/mattress type!) The restaurant food was superb! Well done Chef! The best meal I have had in a while.

Review 25:Bed in loft not comfortable one side leans in when you sleep on it. Loft too tiny needs more space First morning breakfast bacon very try and hard. Choice of desserts left wanting . Possibly needs a lounge to relax in for guests staying overnight

Review 26:Clean lunch delicious fish and chips Breakfast second morning but lovely Lovely dining area. Love the wood Lamb was beautiful cooked .

Review 27:Because there is no storage space in i.e. Wardrobe, drawers or shelves in room 2, we had to live out of our suitcases for three days. This made it difficult to find anything and the room very cramped as the spare floor space was taken up with luggage. The shower tray overflowed after just normal use of the shower. Four 'pods' are provided for the coffee machine, after which one is expected to purchase extras from reception. No decaf alternative is available. There was a good choice of teas, however. Milk is provided in a thermos flask but we had to ask for it on two out of three occasions (could potentially be a problem as there is no one available between 3 and 6 pm.) Overall, The room was stylish but not very practical.

Review 28:The staff were friendly & helpful. The breakfast was delicious.

Review 29:It is a mile from anywhere, so once you had your meal and a glass of wine you're stuck there.

Review 30:The food was great, but the restaurant was a little formal early in the evening

Review 31:we liked everything about our stay, the food was excellent and our room was clean and very comfortable, the staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble

Review 32:Wifi difficult in the room we were in but only a minor blip.

Review 33:Beautiful room with every comfort - Nespresso machine and fresh milk a real treat. Food superb and staff couldn't have done more for us.

Review 34:There was a rip in the duvet cover, and the shower overflowed in the shower tray! The rolls during the evening meal were presented cold , the waiter was too quick to take food away that he didn't think we were eating eg our olives and bread rolls, it felt rushed and not what we expected really. The experience was ok but we won't be going back!

Review 35:The Adnams Gin!

Review 36:My husband said that the Gent's loo wasn't the quality that he would expect from such a high class establishment.

Review 37:The food was really top quality - excellent breakfasts and delicious dinner.

Review 38:Room was cramped but high spec.Bed was uncomfortable, shower was far too small and due to the slope in the roof toilet was difficult to use, I lost count the number of times I hit my head.

Review 39:Food was very good, but limited in choice especially if you stay for more than one night

Review 40:I had to leave at 7.50am and breakfast was not availalbe until after this so was disappointed with no breakfast. Was offered some cereal for my room with milk in a flask, but as a Coeliac this was not suitable for me.

Review 41:The food was outstanding . I am gluten/wheat free and the staff bent over backwards to help me. The chef would have made me a pudding especially if there wasnt one I could have/liked. Room was pleasant with a nespresso coffee machine, which was a nice touch. Would definietly stay again.

Review 42:We stayed in Room 2 and did experience quite a few wood lice roaming around each time we left and entered the room, but that wouldn't stop us staying again, pleasant stay.

Review 43:The food was excellent, well prepared and arranged and a very good selection, not to pricey.

Review 44:WiFi reception very poor although staff helpfully allowed us to use their business connection, useful but not ideal.

Review 45:Pleasant very helpful staff. Excellent dinner although the menu remained the same for the 4 nights we were there.

Review 46:The only thing I can grumble about was the scrambled eggs at breakfast, sloppy and peppery, but on my next visit I will just opt to have them cooked differently.

Review 47:I loved everything, the room, bathroom, the food and the atmosphere. Looks pricey but it is totally worth it. Will be back again.

Review 48:Very cramped loft room. Not for anyone over 5ft 5ins! Restricted height along length of room. Bed very soft and duvet lumpy (had seen better days). Bits broken in bathroom. No storage space for clothing.

Review 49:Proximity to restaurant. Staff very helpful. Free wifi. Decorated to a high standard.

Review 50:Everything about our stay here was excellent. We were in room 2 and it was lovely. A real treat. Comfy bed, lovely shower room and views of the priory. Our stay included dinner, it was a Sunday evening in February so the restaurant was very quiet. However, this didn't ruin the experience. The food was fantastic, we chose from the a la carte menu and every dish was delicious. I had the scallops and John Dory. My partner had the pigeon breast and sea bream. The desserts were also very good and the breakfast was perfect. One night just wasn't enough though - really didn't want to leave!

Review 51:We had a room on the ground floor which was near the boiler (outside the entrance door) which was audible inside when it was operating but it didn`t run at night.

Review 52:Quiet location, modern comfortable room, excellent food, 10 minutes from the coast.

Review 53:i didnt like that our bed was pushed against the wall so i kept waking up with my back on a cold wall also it was hard climbing over my partner in the night to use the toilet .

Review 54:the staff were great and very helpful the food was amazing cant wait to go back rooms stylish and clean

Review 55:The check in times were a little strange. Before 3pm or after 6pm. For us particularly to make use of a £115 deluxe room and a special evening/meal away my partner had to get a half from work. It said alternative arrangements could be made, we asked they couldn't. Before 3 it was then. On arrval all lovely, room 2, I was sadly quite shocked. Extremely small room, two windows over the car park. Lack of storage and shelving sonit was bags all on the floor. Only a one seater chair if you wanted to watch TV. The bathroom was a tiny ensure with a double shower. Even the shelves by the bed were so small as they had a clock on they were just big enough to place your cup of tea on. Yes a nespresso machine. 4 pods. Any extra you had to purchase. For me it didn't feel 'deluxe'. A bath, robes, ipod dock, sofa, even a picture on the wall may have made it feel more deluxe. For the cost a little cheated but the food is the draw.

Review 56:Went for the Valentines Taster 7 course special. Gorgeous. They kindly recatered on request for two courses that didn't suit my palate which was much appreciated. Though on one dish I did only receive one tiny piece of fish to my partners four. The chef is well known hence we went on reputation. Breakfast gorgeous also. Food faultless.

Review 57:Room excellent decor and facilities and ok as a single but would be a little cramped as double (loft Room)

Review 58:Very friendly and welcoming staff in terms of booking in, attention over meals and generally throughout my brief stay. Nespresso machine in room always a nice touch. Excellent choice of menu and quality of food including a really well presented breakfast. 10/10

Review 59:Not a bad experience but it was a little chilly (outside temp well below freezing and no double glazing) but the extra blanket mean I was very snug

Review 60:The room has fab facilities and superb coffee machine

Review 61:The price of and the selection of cheese on the cheese board!!

Review 62:Fine dining in a relaxed and comfortable pub like environment. We could have found very minor faults with both our meal and room, however these in no way effected our stay. We enjoyed high quality, well presented and flavoursome food and an extremely comfortable room, we would not hesitate to return.

Review 63:Delivery lorries to restaurant in middle of night sleep disturbing if you're a light sleeper, but rest of experience made up for them.

Review 64:Staff very welcoming and friendly. Nothing too much bother. Restaurant very welcoming and cosy. Food superb. Accommodation very clean and tidy, bathroom spotless. Also away from main restaurant. Very good position for exploring the North coast of Norfolk.

Review 65:That we had to leave.

Review 66:Loved the service, the food was beautiful, the room was comfortable, spacious and clean with lovely little touches like the fresh milk and nice coffee. Highly recommend !

Review 67:WiFi availability poor Mattress and pillows not very comfortable

Review 68:Excellent food and catered for special requirements Very good and helpful staff Lovely dining area Good selection of beers and wines

Review 69:We were in room 2. The soundproofing was not good, as we could here the couple talking in the room above us. Also, there wasn't a wardrobe or draws to put your clothes in, just a coat rack with hangers.

Review 70:We liked the location and the staff were friendly. Lovely and clean.

Review 71:The internet and mobile signal was poor, but for an overnight get away that was a bonus!!

Review 72:The whole experience was first class, The accommodation, staff and food.

Review 73:The room was lovely, simple and high quality finish. Special thanks to the chef for arranging the tasting menu despite us not pre-ordering. Attentive, professional waiting staff.

Review 74:The room was very comfortable The staff very friendly, informative and helpful The food was excellent and attentive staff Superb location and close to some of my best birding sites Great value for money We will return!

Review 75:Couldn't get a grab & go bag for breakfast as we had to leave early. However did get cereal and milk to tide us over. Only a minor point after a substantial meal evening before.

Review 76:Ambience, Location, Quality of food & Drink. Good service in restaurant.

Review 77:No reserved parking for guests that are staying at busy weekends If you order a paper with breakfast, it would be helpful to be sat at a table with a little more space to read it.

Review 78:The quality of food The friendly staff Charming room Nothing was too much trouble The customer service was exceptional A unique venue

Review 79:Lack of WiFi but the staff tried to fix it, some might say its good to have poor WiFi / Mobile signal. We are in rural Norfolk so neither are good anywhere

Review 80:Food Room Staff All very good, great eye for detail.

Review 81:Nothing. Everything was excellent.

Review 82:Had a suite and it was nice and cosy with excellent shower in bathroom and comfy bed. Meal in the restaurant was amazing, good staff and service and lovely atmosphere.

Review 83:Bed quite snug in space available needs more privacy as rooms look onto car park.No wifi connection in room.

Review 84:Spotless room, friendly happy staff and atmosphere, excellent breakfast.

Review 85:When we arrived at midnight there was an espresso machine with no instructions (coming from a household that doesn't have one - not helpful), there was no normal sachets of coffee or tea, as you can imagine after a 5/6 hour journey we were gasping for a hot drink. The area was very remote and we had no signal which for 2 women travelling in an unknown area did not put us at ease. However, the hotel advertised free wifi, when we arrived there was no password supplied in the room. When we saw someone in the morning and obtained the password, the internet would still not allow us to connect. We were travelling for a wedding, so in the morning we went for breakfast and went back for a shower, my shower was lovely! However, my mum went to have a shower and all the hot water had run out and she had to wait freezing cold for 15 minutes for the water to heat up. In turn this made the morning very rushed and stressful! Personally it just wasn't a great stay, we expected it to be outstanding considering the price of the stay!

Review 86:The quietness and privacy of the location was fabulous! The staff were very friendly!

Review 87:Rooms and bathroom are too small and hot. The bed only has entry in one side. Ceiling is too low, and it's unconfortable doing certain things in the toilet standing, let's say brushing your teeth.

Review 88:The restaurant is quite good, so this is a good place to stay on night after dinner and leave next morning to continue exploring the area

Review 89:FOR A SUPERIOR ROOM I WOULD EXPECT A WARDROBE SOMETHING LARGER THAN A STD DOUBLE BED SMALL BATHROOM WITH A SLOPING ROOF!

Review 90:EXCELLENT SERVICE V.HELPFUL STAFF EXCELLENT FOOD

Review 91:The following comments are meant to be helpful and do not mean that wehad a negative experience. We stayed 3 nights in 2 rooms. The first, upstairs, is not for tall people as the shower room has a sloping roofand neither of us could see in the mirror without bending awkwardly. Wewere moved without any fuss to a room downstairs, which was fine. However, both rooms only had one armchair, and neither had any drawers -ok if there for only one night - but we are past the time of living outof a suitcase. The 9" squares of wood by either side of the bed arenot big enough for the clock, plus a watch, drink of water, tablets etc.Suggest replacing with a small chest of drawers!. Instructions on how tooperate the posh coffee percolators would be very useful !

Review 92:The restaurant food was just superb - delicious and beautifullypresented. Staff were both very friendly and efficient and we had areally positive experience.

Review 93:Wifi was poor, if you could connect. My partner could have done with a dressing table to get ready at. Lack of clothes storage, apart from 4 hooks & hangers.

Review 94:Lovely room, although small was cosy. The extra touches such as espresso machine and biscuits were lovely. Food was superb from breakfast to the a la carte menu at evening.

Review 95:room was very small, could only access double bed from one side. There was no space to put clothing other than 4 hooks behind the bathroom door. The mugs were too big for the espresso maker, the kettle was too big for filling at the sink. Simple things but they made this not the "affordable luxury" it bills itself as. Wifi did not work at all. This is probably fine for a one night stay but would not recommend it for any longer.

Review 96:location and quality of food

Review 97:The only slight problem with the whole stay was that one side of our double bed was against a wall which meant as a slightly older couple getting in and out of it was more of a challenge.

Review 98:The room had character (such a nice change after chain hotels) It was well kept. The food, breakfast and dinner, could not be faulted. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable. Lovely touch with the chef coming round to chat at tables after dinner.

Review 99:wifi was hardly ever available (unless you logged onto it at 3am in the morning) it is definitely on the pricey side

Review 100:well executed refurbishment very clean, well presented fantastic breakfast superb dinner available Staff are superfriendly and coulnd't be more helpful

Review 101:they had advised of a WiFi issue - which being on a getaway wasnt a problem at all but we would have liked to have used it to upload our trip photos to our networking sites. although the breakfast was amazing we had not thought of the cost of the evening meal - would be nice for a menu to be available before arrival maybe to avoid embarrassment for couples such as ourselves literally the only downfall to it all was the drunken pub leavers celebrating a party shouting in the car park where the rooms are situated next to.

Review 102:I had booked for a getaway as i know the area well i knew this was a great place. Breakfast was lovely - on the small side for my partner who is a big eater exactly as advertised, rooms are gorgeous and just all round beautiful place. For those who dont know the area even the journey there is full of wonderful views as well as the rooms.

Review 103:The first room we were taken to had a bed wedged between two walls and against a third! The only hanging for clothes was coat-hangers on wall hooks and no drawers. Moved us to second room which was larger but still no hanging or drawers. Third room good size and a small cabinet for clothes.

Review 104:Food was excellent as was the service and the staff who were professional, friendly and helpful. Shower rooms beautifully fitted and lots of hot water. Not much room for toiletries.

Review 105:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 106:The food the service and room were all lovely. The only thing is you can't check in between about 3-6 pm

Review 107:Relaxing evening, the food was fabulous.

Review 108:Quality of food and accommodation are excellent

Review 109:Not getting into rooms until 6pm

Review 110:Food

Review 111:Liked everything wish we booked another night

Review 112:The food! Michelin star breakfast and then there was dinner!

Review 113:No mini bar price list in the room but this is struggling for something negative to say!

Review 114:Lovely ambiance, food and staff.

Review 115:Room a little small as we are tall people and it had a sloping roof.

Review 116:Ambiance, very comfortable feel. Not to Londony!

Review 117:Excellent restaurant. Top class food. Very friendly and efficient staff.

Review 118:Food was amazing !!! Room was lovely although small but had everything you would need.

Review 119:The wonderful food !!!

Review 120:Room a little crampt.

Review 121:Style and food

Review 122:The food was out of this world!

Review 123:Couldn't get Wi-Fi to work in room or in reception area.

Review 124:The staff were all lovely and the food was great - we had the tasting menu.

Review 125:Booking it via Booking.com!

Review 126:Excellent food in the restaurant, great wine list and lovely staff.

Review 127:great staff. Fab food. Lovely old building in a rural location with modern facilities and luxurious touches.

Review 128:Really lovely place to stay just what we wanted

Review 129:The food in the restaurant was excellent best we've ever had.

Review 130:We were unhappy with the small room in the rafters with limited access to bed only accessible from one side, slanted roof care when moving around.

Review 131:Only downside was the poor wifi connection

Review 132:All round excellent experience
