Reviews for Honiley Court Hotel & Conference Centre
Review 1:The only real downside is the breakfast arrangements. The toasters are very slow for guests making their own toast, coffee and tea is self served and there is a very limited choice for those who wish cereals or non-cooked breakfasts. On the other hand, the elderly couple who serve breakfast are absolute gems.
Review 2:Principally the location, it suits me and my business trips.
Review 3:the breakfast was cold and what is supposed to be a cooked breakfast not good. only one light worked in the bathroom, the light over the shower / bath and extractor did no work. i had to point out we booked for breakfast when paying the bill
Review 4:the bedroom was alright the bed was comfortable and all we really wanted was a bed or the night
Review 5:First room had window missing. Second room - window would not close properly and therefore lots of road noise. Third room - beside lamps had no bulbs. Duty manager in evening was very helpful. Dinner - very slow service for dessert and then told choice not available. Ordered paper not delivered. Duty manager in morning very brusque.
Review 6:All of it
Review 7:My room had not been cleaned ordered food but did not have what we wanted even the staff was leaving because of the mess curtains ripped window sill black
Review 8:My fiancees van was broken into in the car park in the night and £700 worth of tools stolen! It would have been nice if the hotel had contacted us to acknowledge it (after the Police spoke to them about the CCTV). It wasn't the hotels fault but we will never stay there again! The lighting in the car park is practically non existent! Disgusting! I bet it wasn't the first time thieves have visited the Honiley Court hotel & I dare say it wont be the last either! Easy pickings!
Review 9:Looking a bit tired in room needs a lick of paint. Very very hot and couldn't open windows because lock was broken. Didn't book breakfast at time of booking booked when arrived but charged £13 instead of £6.50 big difference.
Review 10:A great price good location to Coventry and N E C Birmingham. Very helpful staff.
Review 11:Food served on cold plates, so didn't stay hot for long Room we stayed in good and spacious, bed comfortable, but lighting dim - not helped by one main light being out
Review 12:Good choice of meals for dinner in the evening, well presented Pleasant, helpful staff
Review 13:rooms need refreshing both rooms had ceiling damage and paper peeling of the wall. one had gafer tape on the tiles by the bath and bulbs missing from the bedside lights. not worth £128 a night
Review 14:food not bad
Review 15:I read the reviews and thought give it a go what a mistake On arrival we were allocated room 54 when we finally got to the room after climbing two flights of stairs because the lift was out of order we were greeted with wallpaper peeling of the wall the bath had what looked like rust around the plug hole and the room was to hot. We then ordered room Service only for my guests to cut her fish open to be greeted by cling film, we decided not to make a fuss but mentioned it to reception. After a poor nights sleep we came to check out only for me to be told my card had declined the reason for this was the staff member had tried to take the payment again instead of completing the previous authorisation I know this due to working in the industry.
Review 16:The location
Review 17:Although the actual breakfast was good. There didn't seem to be a lot of organisation. Staff on duty didn't speak exceptionally good English and did not immediately welcome us into the dining room. When we asked about seating we were directed to a very bland conference room when there was, seemed to be, room to eat in the dining room which is what we chose to do! The room was hot but opening the window meant road noise which together made it difficult to settle down to sleep.
Review 18:On arrival our room was set up as a double room when I had asked for a twin; this was quickly rectified. Reception staff were helpful, offering advice on places to eat when we said we didn't want to eat in the restaurant that evening.
Review 19:The reception booked me a taxi where the driver was quite an angry man which wasn't ideal. Both mornings it was hard to get a taxi that arrives on time and if you want to be dropped at Berkswell train station you may miss the train.
Review 20:The room was very comfortable and relaxing. The location would be amazing for a holiday with a car or peaceful short getaway. Breakfast was good - delicious mushrooms and a variety of cereals. But no pastries and the coffee was awful.
Review 21:Down side, the waiting staff a little inexperienced. When I asked for a malt whisky the waitress did not know what that was. As it transpired, the bar did not have any malt whiskey! 2nd choice of Port, only enough Port for one measure! So third choice of gin and tonic was had. Need to replenish the bar and do a stock check!
Review 22:Lovely location, fantastic value for money and the main thing for us, it was spotlessly clean. Ate in the restaurant and food very good!
Review 23:Window in room was not double glazed, didn't close properly and the glass was cracked - traffic noise could be heard all night.
Review 24:Big Car Park Large Comfortable Room Fabulous Breakfast
Review 25:Old dated rooms, low powered shower (I also had the bonus of having had the previous guest's damp used towels left in the bathroom...). Poor quality over priced food (both dinner and breakfast). I (stupidly) locked my key in my room, but unbelievably, no spare was available, so had to wait for housekeeping to start their shift to let me back in, this waiting made me late for work. Also, while waiting at reception for a key solution, I watched lots of people check out and it seemed everyone had a query on the bill as it appeared that people were either being charged for things they didn't have or were being charged twice for things (e.g breakfast etc.). The same happened to me when I checked in and they said it was room only but I had booked and paid for B&B.
Review 26:Not a lot.
Review 27:Loud music until midnight did offer to change room but was too late. Apart from reception areas and bar, hotel is in dire need of refurbishment.
Review 28:Bed was comfortable.
Review 29:Toilet never worked in one of our rooms (we booked two) so all had to us on toilet despite maintenance comkng and saying did not have tools to mend it ! Not enough staff on .
Review 30:Not a lot really staff ok but so few of them .
Review 31:had evening meal, main course well below average and expensive. Dessert (Apple crumble) was good. Room was very noisy, situated by lift and stairwell. Slowest lift in England.
Review 32:Large bed Good bathroom
Review 33:Looks a bit overgrown and daunting on first arrival. View from my room over the air-conditioning units is a bit depressing and the dogs that bark, bark, bark all the time.
Review 34:Great location and nice staff
Review 35:The room ad not been cleaned when we arrived. This was pointed out to staff who took the keys and promised to clean it while we went off for a meeting. When we returned there had been an attempt to clean it however, this was not to a particularly high standard. The floor in the bar area was very sticky as was the bar itself. The tables were also very sticky. All remained that way for the duration of our stay. This hotel is beautifully characteristic and has the potential to be a great place to stay. However, the cleanliness left a lot to be desired which was disappointing.
Review 36:The staff were friendly and the beds were comfortable.
Review 37:I did not like the french-style chairs and mirrors in the public rooms....they did not suit the style of the hotel and did not create an atmosphere conducive to relaxing in the evening. It was a disadvantage that you had to walk through the dining area to reach the bar.
Review 38:The location was convenient for visiting stately homes and touring in Warwickshire. Bedroom spacious. Large car park.
Review 39:The room I was originally offered was terrible, dark, broken door and windows, wall paper coming off wall, smelt of smoke. I asked to be moved and the next room was much better, brighter and more secure. The room was cold at night as I couldnt put the heating on in my room. There was no safe in the room . Proximity to road made it noisy each morning.
Review 40:Staff were nice and breakfast was not bad.
Review 41:Too cold yet they expect you to pay 168 for two nights and freeze Radiators are switched off both in the corridors and the rooms but surprise surprise the reception area is warm Food is nothing to write home about fact is you could probably cook better yourself
Review 42:Fairly clean and rooms are a good size good car parking facilities
Review 43:We had the poorest breakfast I have every had - all prepared cooked under keep warm dishes - everything was dried up and looked like it had been sitting there for ages - yuk!
Review 44:Room was ok that was about it and we could park for free
Review 45:windows rattled in the wind, bed was too hard for me but my husband said it was ok, curtains didn't close properly, pool table was pretty worn, there was a big party on but not quite enough staff to cover the restaurant and bar as well, too many mirrors, uncomfortable sofas.
Review 46:Staff were very friendly and helpful once you got passed the initial impression, which was that they were under staffed and guests wanting drinks and meals was a bit of a nuisance. Large bed, plenty of tea and coffee in the room Food was ok but nothing special.
Review 47:New self service tea and coffee at breakfast and where did the Danish pastries go? :( Hair in the bath! Never had this issue here before.
Review 48:Friendly welcome Large well appointed rooms Helpfulness of staff Location
Review 49:Prior to staying I visited the hotel to book a table as staying half board. Staff were rude and unhelpful. Restaurant doesn't open until 6.30pm until 9.30pm which was no good as attending a wedding. Wrote to the manager complaining but still no response. Shower was awful and breakfast had very little options. Wouldn't stay again even if it were free to be honest.
Review 50:Prior to staying I visited the hotel to book a table as staying half board. Staff were rude and unhelpful. Restaurant doesn't open until 6.30pm until 9.30pm which was no good as attending a wedding. Wrote to the manager complaining but still no response. When we actually stayed though the waitress/ receptionist we dealt with was a credit to the company. She really did look after us. Bed was huge!
Review 51:It needs decorating. Furniture in bar needs upholstering. Our room was ready but could not check in until the time. Breakfast was bad cold food and no food until you asked for it. Tea was cold
Review 52:It was convenient to where we wanted to get to
Review 53:Whole place needs a refurb. Shabby carpets. Poor windows in rooms - single glaze? Noisy. No kettle in the room, then when we asked for one to be brought up it didn't arrive til next day! Corridors extremely hot!!
Review 54:The room was nice and big with adequate facilities. Plentiful breakfast. Big car park.
Review 55:Room cold on arrival. Lack of staff for bar and restaurant in the evening. Really hard on the young staff there who coped well given the circumstances.
Review 56:Good location. On a main road but the road was not busy and was it therefore quiet.
Review 57:Wifi a bit unreliable and slow One member of staff was very off hand - more staff training needed Poorly lit entrance from the road
Review 58:Location central to what we wanted to see. Good food Huge bed and comfortable room
Review 59:With shortage of basic supplies in the bar, no effort was made to rectify the problems. Attitude was it will be ok tomorrow morning. Only staying one night this is no use, will think twice before booking here again.
Review 60:Had to ask for another room as the window wouldn't shut properly and it was noisy. This was done without fuss though.
Review 61:Clean and comfortable with polite staff and good breakfast.
Review 62:Room 16 has single glazed windows so you can hear all of the traffic. The Wifi is extremely poor in the rooms. The old lady taking my breakfast order couldn't even remember my order of scrambled eggs, they turned up with bacon (im a vege). The conference suit projector was extremely poor and the bulb needs replacing.
Review 63:Friendly staff, big room, evening meal was good. Great cookies during our presentation!
Review 64:Arrived at bar at 10.50pm after long exhausting drive to be told by lass who was serving we would have to wait 10 minutes for the night porter to come on shift as she had to clear up as she finished at 11.00. Breakfast was almost cold as burners were not lit.
Review 65:Reaction of manager when issue was pointed out to her. Very professional and turned our initial thoughts about the hotel around.
Review 66:Overall, interior and exterior paintwork very scruffy....needs a good lick of paint.
Review 67:Receptionist excellent. Offered free room upgrade without us even asking when told it was partner`s birthday.
Review 68:pass
Review 69:Clean well looked after hotel, staff were busy but pleasant. The room was great, lots of storage room, comfortable bed and clean. ps sorry I left with the room key!... I've dispatched it back to you :)
Review 70:Nothing-can't complain about a thing!!!
Review 71:Great staff, good food and beautiful setting. Was a random spare of the moment booking and I'm so glad we chose this place. The staff are so nice and the food we ordered to our room was soooo nice especially considering how reasonably priced it was. Definatly will be going back there!
Review 72:dining and bar area very cold very little heating, must be because there was no guests around
Review 73:great value for money, excellent food the staff did every thing they could for us
Review 74:Only minor issue was wifi signal was not that great. Otherwise no issues
Review 75:Room was a good size, clean, not too warm and a good bed. Breakfast in the morning was good quality.
Review 76:Nothing
Review 77:Staff who were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful especially the girl on reception the night we arrived. Good location... Close to Winchester, Stratford etc and Birmingham airport. Excellent evening meal with good choice in half board option.
Review 78:It took several hours to get onto the hotel wi-fi system, and then it had to be paid for, so by then weI just didnt bother.
Review 79:The location was very convenient for us, only 2 miles away from the event we were attending. The staff were pleasant and the breakfast was good. Overall, it was good value for money
Review 80:Breakfast - disappointing compared to other hotels we've stayed in & service was slow considering there were only 3 people in the dining room. Bath rim had hairs and dust on. Struggled to find the hotel in the dark!
Review 81:Very pleasant location and parking available. Décor downstairs in bar and restaurant is very nice.
Review 82:Nothing to dislike
Review 83:Location Friendly helpful staff Superbly clean and well decorated bathroom. The large room I had Superb well heated rooms Excellent buffet breakfast
Review 84:Parts of hotel and bits of rooms very tired, ie needs decorating or updating. Had booked 3 rooms and had problems with one (heating stuck on, kettle broken, etc) so had to be moved. Booked restaurant first night but they'd lost our booking. Luckily was empty but they had big do on in conference centre which meant service was poor and at one point they ran out of cutlery! Had to eat custard with a fork. Enjoyed our stay but in all needs to be looked at - problems are all very obvious. Needs updating and more staff training.
Review 85:Good sized room with lovely big comfortable bed. Located in countryside but on main road so convenient for visiting Warwick, etc. Free car park Decent breakfast
Review 86:The waiting time in the restaurant was too long. Took about 25minutes to come out, and as soon as I had finished my started my main was being placed on the table. The wait for drinks was even longer. At breakfast the wait for coffee was also very long, I had almost finished breakfast before I got my coffee, it would be better to have the coffee available for people to help themselves
Review 87:Room was very small and dated. It was very warm even with windows open and no heating Limited menu
Review 88:Quality of food was excellent Change my room quickly when there was problem
Review 89:Dated bedroom and bathroom and unhelpful receptionist.Hotel is more a business than leisure facility.
Review 90:The hotel food was nice and the location was good.
Review 91:See above....bizarre furniture in public spaces! Breakfast should have been included in the room-rate at this not-very-busy time of year. There was not too much variety of for example, jams etc. Scrambled eggs only and not very appealing ones at that!
Review 92:The rooms are spacious and reasonably well-equipped although twin-beds narrow. Efficient shower/hot-water/heating in the rooms.
Review 93:What a wonderful stay, we booked one night with an evening meal and breakfast to celebrate our anniversary . On arrival we were greeted by a very pleasant young lady on reception she checked us in and gave us our key. The room was lovely it was big and spotlessly clean, we had only been there a few minutes when the lady from reception knocked on the door to bring us a bottle of sparking wine on ice and wished us happy anniversary and said that this was with complements of Honiley Court . We went down for evening meal at about 7ish and was met by another lovely lady (Haley) who showed us to our table and took our order in a very pleasant way. The food was all excellent, so must also thank the chef. Haley offered to bring us breakfast in bed if we would like it,but we declined the offer, but thanked her very much. In the morning Haley met us again and looked after us in a cheerful way. All the staff were very pleasant and would like to thank them for taking some photo's of us. We will be back
Review 94:Uncomfortable mattress. Dirty table cover. Tired décor. Impersonal welcome at reception (as if they were reading from a script). Disorganised at the bar - no pen to write down tab info, no wine bottle opener
Review 95:Murder mystery evening. Tea and coffee in the room. Breakfast. Free internet available
Review 96:bathroom window not secure. 3 light bulbs out in bathroom. Noise from main road disturbed sleep. Tired decor and carpet in the bedroom.
Review 97:new looking reception with lovely furniture. tidy bar area and restaurant. tasty and reasonable priced bar food. Staff were very friendly and efficient.
Review 98:I thought the room was tired looking. I was in room 625 and there was no Wi-Fi available. I arrived late and the welcome was ok. The Kenilworth address is rather misleading as it is 6 miles away.
Review 99:The bed was comfortable and the room clean and warm. I liked the quiet location.
Review 100:The wifi was terrible, could pick it up but was so little bandwidth I couldn't even carry out a speed test. Using it for the internet, or anything was impossible. I didn't see any wireless routers around the hotel, so maybe it was the distance between our room and the router that caused the issue. Great if you want to switch off from life, but not good if you're there on business and internet access is vital. If wifi is advertised, it should be available! Only other gripe was the bride next door cuffing away on her cancer sticks in her bathroom which we could smell easily in ours, luckily we didn't have any clothes etc in the bathroom overnight, not really the hotel's fault though and they said they'd tackle the bride asap.
Review 101:The hotel had loads of parking, easy to get to and the staff were welcoming. The hotel in general looked ok but several areas, especially woodwork (door frames, window sills etc) could do with some attention. They do have a lift but it must be the world's smallest, but hey, it worked fine and was useful when you've got the associated baggage of having kids with you. Breakfast was good, friendly staff again too. If I as travelling through, or having a few days away I'd use this place again. If I was on a 2 week holiday I'm not sure I would, but the price was great and for a cheap few days away I couldn't really grumble too much.
Review 102:we stayed there because I bought my husband a pro drive day very close to the venue the hotal was very clean we had a nice meal in the evening breakfast was fab the only thing that put me off was my cup had a chip in it but all in all if that is all I can complain about I would defo stay there again
Review 103:I had the room next to the stairs and was kept awake most of the night with doors banging, feet echoing in the stairwell and early morning deliveries. Food was distinctly average. Dirty marks in bathroom and on bed covers. No atmsophere at all.
Review 104:Good amounts of free parking
Review 105:It was in a poor state of repair and is lacking a good impetus of cash to resolve what could be a lovely hotel.
Review 106:The food at the Honiley was the best about the hotel.
Review 107:The interior of the hotel was outdated and looked very sorry for itself, and the lift only carried a single person with luggage. The bathroom tap in my room dripped all the time and the room was very cold at night, the quilt barely reached the side of the bed.
Review 108:The outside of the hotel was very pretty, and the rooms were a good size. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the choice of selection for breakfast was excellent and good value for money.
Review 109:The general surroundings of the hotel could have done with a tidy up, and it gave a slightly shaby impression.
Review 110:The general location suited our purpose and the hotel was quite roomy, generous rooms.
Review 111:Staff (Steven) who think it is ok to swear and not mildly to his customers who have with them children! Disgusting!
Review 112:Staff who are helpful, polite and accommodating to their customers those other than Steven! Also massive beds and clean rooms.
Review 113:There was an Indian wedding happening and the music was very loud and repetitive with the bass. The staff said it will Be over by 9pm it went on till midnight and got even louder. There were no mention of the wedding happening as we wouldn't have stayed if we knew. The staff didn't apologise until the morning.
Review 114:The room was spacious.
Review 115:The early morning receptionist was very accommodating with me wanting an early start (before the official breakfast start time). Great view over the country side watching the sunset through large patio door/window, very relaxing, loved it!
Review 116:Slightly out of date PAT labels on electrical equipment. Staff member on the desk didn't know what PAT was and didn't seem that bothered about doing something about it.
Review 117:Quiet room despite a function going on during the evening we were there
Review 118:Wifi a bit hit and miss. Room clean but looking tired
Review 119:Staff couldn't do enough. Clean towels every day. Crisp white linen. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. Large room and ensuite. Substantial breakfast and good choice.
Review 120:right on road - looks small compared to pictures - room a bit shabby/tired especially bathroom. sink badley cracked mish mash of colours made it drab one half of bed had a big sunken hollow area. ironing board needed new cover as old one torn and very stained. garden not as expected from booking site pictures- very small. breakfast ok but staff seemed overstretched .one or two reception staff not very welcoming. didn't feel "at home"
Review 121:Breakfast could have been better, the food was ok but the dining staff didnt seem to comunicate with each other, we got up to get our cooked breakfast and by the time we got back our table had been cleared, with other people just about to be seated!!!!!
Review 122:The rooms were clean and well presented. The reception and cleaners were very friendly and approachable, nothing seemed to much trouble.
Review 123:Some of the corridors were in need of refurbishment and also some of the flooring but on the whole it was ok
Review 124:Nice Hotel lovely room very clean. Good breakfast and service. We only stayed one night but we really enjoyed it.
Review 125:The restaurant could have done with a clean up (dirty walls). The windows in our room weren't secure.
Review 126:The location, staff, and general feel was friendly and nice. We had an enjoyable stay.
Review 127:At times, there was a lack of staff particularly at meal times so you had a wait between courses, however, those that were on duty were very helpful. The hotel could do with general refurbishment throughout even if its just some painting and decorating. Also when it rained in the recent bad weather the guttering outside our bedroom was leaking, so it was quite distracting in the night listening to it dripping
Review 128:Generally it is good value for money The food on offer was really very nice and of good quality and was different each evening during the weekend. Staff were very helpful when available. The train station is a short car ride away and you can travel directly into Birmingham town centre where there are a vast array of shops
Review 129:the rooms and hallways were shabby. in desperate need of decoration. Some damp around the doors. grubby walls and peeling paintwork. no iron or ironing board in the room.
Review 130:The staff were absolutely excellent - accomodating, friendly and attentive. beautiful surroundings and plenty of parking space. Really good food, including a lovely vegetarian option
Review 131:The staff were just naturally friendly and extremely helpful. The first night I was on my own, which I hate. However, the restaurant staff were really intuitive and found me a quiet corner where I could eat my dinner without feeling self conscious. The food was very good. We stayed in 2 different rooms. The rooms are large and well sound proofed and not overlooked at the back. The beds were very comfortable. Despite no air conditioning they were blissfully cool despite the heatwave! We had a dog with us, but were made to feel just as welcome. Our dog even got sausage for breakfast! The location is excellent for dog owners because there is a quiet laneway opposite the hotel with a walk to Kenilworth Castle off to the left - perfect for dog walking. It must be good for business travellers too as it is accessible to Birmingham, Coventry M6, M40. Breakfast was a buffet. It was a relaxed atmosphere and a good choice of options cooked and fresh.
Review 132:There was nothing to dislike.
Review 133:The venue is good but the staff were excellent. Attentive without being fussy, always friendly and helpful, even when we arrived late.
Review 134:We were given a room directly above a disco party that went on till midnight. We were not informed there would be a party at the hotel when we made the booking nor when checked in. At 1.15am we were woken by partitions being drawn in the suite below us, I thought the hotel was being bombed. It went on for some time. When we complained in the morning we were offered £20 off the bill.
Review 135:It was a little out of the way of any pubs/restaurants but still beautiful
Review 136:Free Wifi, Large and clean rooms, lovely bathroom with complimentary shower items and a lovely setting.
Review 137:There was only one thing that was a bit of a downer and that was the lift. You could only have two people or one person with luggage. We got stuck going up to the room when we arrived, but soon found the stairs were not as bad/steep as we thought, so we used them for the rest of our trip. other than that, everything was great
Review 138:There was a wedding party going on and you could not here a thing even when you were right by the room. you only hard the loud disco when the door was opened. So we had no interruption when trying to sleep. The food for breakfast was top quality with lots to choose from. And plenty of fruit and yogurts to. It was also well organised. The room was nice with a nice bathroom, with a massive roof window which low on the one side of the room so you could look out. The hotel was well laid out with plenty of parking even with the wedding going on. Staff were really nice and very quick to help when we got stuck in the lift. Cant wait to go again soon.
Review 139:Water sound in room very loud all night Waiter in restruant at the dinner service was very poor. Not even seated for 15 mins, then got where do you wanna sit. Not what you expect. Second waiter in the morning was much better younge guy very polite. Older man needs a lesson on customer service. As he was the same with everyone.
Review 140:Location Free wifi Food was great Good breakfast selection
