Reviews for The Meadowsweet Hotel

Review 1:Confusion over whether breakfast was offered on a Sunday Morning. Central Heating poor, replaced with an electric fan heater which was adequate.

Review 2:Friendly staff. Excellent food in the Restaurant.

Review 3:It was excellent. The staff were very polite and nothing was to much. The Hotel had gone to a lot of effort for Halloween and everyone appeared to enjoy themselves. Have booked for next year.

Review 4:This was a very overpriced hotel given it was between a 2 and 3 star. Stayed in much better 4 star accommodation for half the price. Rooms were average and the whole place had a damp smell. No wifi.

Review 5:Friendly reasonable location comfortable and clean. Nice views

Review 6:We booked this Hotel through the hotels agent booking.com in May, well in advance of our stay. As this was a special anniversary we upgraded our room to superior with a view across the meadow albeit there is a busy road in between. On arrival we looked at the menu and only to be told that food was not available to residents as a private 21st party had fully booked the restaurant. When I asked the manager why we had we not been advised his response was extremely rude and arrogant and said he was not apologising for having a full restaurant. He suggested other places to eat one of which was a mile walk across fields! The room was cold as the heating was turned off. We were told to use the small electric fan heater. Next morning breakfast took 30mins to arrive ( freshly prepared) but was only warm and served on a stone cold plate. A replacement was requested but this time the baked beans were solid in the bowl. Other guests were also far from happy with the hotel. In our view this hotel only provided a B&B facility. This was the most expensive of the hotels that we had booked for our trip to North Wales and overpriced.

Review 7:Our room was perfect with small television, settee and a large bed with drapes with windows on both sides. A welcoming glass of sherry was also provided which was a thoughtful touch.

Review 8:The room itself was superb, and very clean. Bathroom could do with a refresh but very clean.

Review 9:Fabulous and characterful bar and restaurant with great beer / wine selection and quality of ingredients used. Location very good and only takes 2 minutes to walk into Llanwrst

Review 10:From the moment we arrived we really felt that the owners and all staff wanted to have a good time, excellant. Hoping to return before the end of the year.

Review 11:Very friendly; good food; friendly staff who seemed to have got the balance right between over and under attentiveness; clean, comfortable; nice atmosphere; interesting decoration

Review 12:Woken early by someone on scaffolding outside window. Found the flies buzzing around the uncovered breakfast pastries rather off-putting.

Review 13:Convenient but unscenic location. Comfortable family room. Ample breakfast.

Review 14:Decor in our room was shabby, bathroom small and out dated.

Review 15:A super value for money break, the room was clean but needed some tlc as the decor was tired and tatty. The bathroom shower curtain served only to leak water on the floor but it all worked. Staff were friendly, hotel offered charm and warmth.

Review 16:Lack of response from emails. Message re change in booking was not acknowledged even though I had emailed and telephoned. although this was not really a problem to them whne we arrived. The pet issue. I booked because the hotel booking website said it was pet friendly. I checked it by phone to be told it was not. The room directory said it was!!!! My two dogs would have loved a walk up snowdon!

Review 17:Ambience and service was nice.

Review 18:Superb visit. Everything that could have been required was in place. Staff were so very welcoming including the owners. Food Superb. Will definitely return.

Review 19:Two flights of stairs were a bit tough for the eldest member of our party.

Review 20:Wonderful view over the valley. The rooms are stylishly furnished with antiques. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 21:A family run piece of paradise. Rooms are stunning and food is exceptional. Staff were friendly and interesting, and went out of their way to accommodate our every request.

Review 22:Wish we had stayed for the weekend, and not only one night. Everything and everyone were fantastic. Food was amazing, breakfast in bed was just perfect. We were spoilt.

Review 23:Little touches such as chocolate eclair sweets coffee/tea and plenty of toiletries. Loved the quirky restaurant and dressing up corner which our ten year old enjoyed. The food was excellent, especially the lamb roast dinner.

Review 24:The ensuite was badly decorated and a bit grubby and the windows had cobwebs in them. The breakfast could of being bigger and the pancakes were more like omelettes.

Review 25:A nice spot and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was plenty big enough for a family of four

Review 26:The mattress could use a replacement and the bed is quite short. A bathtub would make this place excellent for after a day of hiking. Slightly limited on hot water, but managed no problem.

Review 27:Location was good, restaurant was great.

Review 28:Breakfast could be better. Building needs some maintenance (patchy paint work, dripping faucets, squeaky doors). Friendly suggestion: get rid of the fake flowers, they don't add anything to the room

Review 29:Extremely helpful staff and great value for money at a great location. Would recommend.

Review 30:Radiator was barely on, so room was cold, but the electric heater helped a great deal. We had specified the need for early breakfast at check-in, but the message didn't get passed on.

Review 31:The restaurant in the hotel serves really good food and very reasonable prices.

Review 32:Lovely big room with beautiful views, with nice little touches - sherry for two and a little toiletry gift. Food in the restaurant at dinner was absolutely lovely. Breakfast great, and staff helpful and friendly. Could not fault it.

Review 33:real coffee not on automatic offer at breakfast. Other guests didn't seem to mind. Day 2 (or 3) waitress said I could have a cafetiere if I wanted. Day 3 they had run out of real coffee grounds, so not sure what they put in the 'fresh-brew' pot that was delivered... Towels were minuscule; when I asked for a larger one the manager said they didn't have any: 'what would you have done?' I said I'd have given one of my own ('I use these,' he said) or sent a staff-member off to buy a few larger ones. 'We like feedback' he said but when I gave it (politely but firmly) he clearly wanted to reason it away. Not impressed.

Review 34:Very comfortable & elegant room with excellent bed and good amenities/equipment. Nice omelettes available at breakfast (good freshly-made alternative to scrambled eggs which tend to go rubbery).

Review 35:Nothing overt bad to mention bar a few cosmetic issues in our room.

Review 36:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room and hotel itself were very well presented and cosey.

Review 37:The hotel was clean, friendly atmosphere & a comfortable bed, everything you need for a weekend break, friendly staff, good choice of breakfast, easy to find, and a fantastic location.

Review 38:Can see where investment required. Rooms fine however ensuite tired, on balance, things that really matter had been dealt with so shower had decent pressure with ample hot running water.

Review 39:Decor in bar and lounge exceeded expectation. Bar menu food quality was beyond above standard expected for the price.

Review 40:Plumbing was a bit noisy at night.

Review 41:Loved our stay, room was great with a lovely bed. Staff were very friendly and we had a great meal in the hotel restaurant. Breakfast was also good.

Review 42:5 star hotel. The room was excellent, clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was was amazing I can still taste it now. I will be returning soon.

Review 43:Breakfast could have been better. Better quality of ingredients would be welcome, everything very bland right down to slices of white plastic bread and instant coffee. Total contrast to the amazing food in the restaurant!

Review 44:The hotel was lovely, all decked out for Halloween! Room was lovely and spacious overlooking the Conway valley. Nelson was ever helpful as we're all the staff! Dinner in Lle Hari was exceptional! Superb food presented in a inspired way.

Review 45:Only instant coffee for breakfast that we had to make for ourselves.

Review 46:Old fashioned decor done tastefully. Food good and unpretentious. Generally efficient

Review 47:no one around when we arrived , even after pressing the bell a few times . decided to have walk round and come back later, dont know if there is a shortage of staff

Review 48:we were attending a wedding and we were in walking distance to the church and reception ,room was very comfortable and the beds were also. slept well . breakfast was very good too

Review 49:Booking.com described the room as a triple but it was a double and single, which to me is a family room. This caused a problem as it was 3 men sharing. Surely a triple room should by definition have 3 beds in it?

Review 50:The hotel bar serves a very good local beer, but the beer would be even better if it was served cold!

Review 51:This is a lovely and very comfortable hotel, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant has outstanding food and great atmosphere. The hotel is just at the edge of the charming town of Llanrwst and is a great base for exploring the Snowdonia area.

Review 52:I have never seen a 1 egg omelette before and will not be returning to see one again.

Review 53:It's a bed and breakfast establishment that does what it says but room needed repairs / redecorating.

Review 54:Room had been sloppily repainted. TV sat upon an unsteady dresser.

Review 55:Young man at desk was wonderful Breakfast very nice Price was perfect Room size fit our needs Great location

Review 56:Not really a dislike - personally we did not think that admitting to have won 'The Four in a Bed' TV show did them any favours!! Some of the contestants??

Review 57:We received a warm welcome on arrival. The room was as described and very clean. The food was excellent and the staff were all most pleasant.

Review 58:the landlord did not talk to us or any body, never seen mary, she stayed in the kitchen. we had dinner in the medowsweet on 2 nd. night of our 4 night stay my wife and i ordered fish cakes the cook gave us one and a half fish cakes each, yes ,they cut one in half and they were not that big to start with. i got the feeling the landlord was not there to stay and did not want us or any body else to return again.

Review 59:everything was just fine except for what we did not like

Review 60:Should have double glazing as traffic noise almost constant through the night. Instant coffee at breakfast - not good.

Review 61:Bed was so comfortable. Great selection of toiletries and teas/coffee. Nice touch having bottles of water in the room.

Review 62:Decor in the room look dated and the breakfast only had brown toast and some items over cooked

Review 63:The service excellent, quiet ,we stayed over last minute as the weather was turning and camping wasn't that appealing the young lad serving on our stay was extremely efficient and polite a credit to the hotel

Review 64:owners waited up when we weren't arriving until late and were very welcoming. Also offered us an early breakfast as we were climbing snowdon the next day. Nice room and good breakfast.

Review 65:friendly and helpful staff

Review 66:Friendliness of staff; beautiful view from room; really comfy bed in a well decorated room.

Review 67:great bed

Review 68:The room service for cleaning the rooms could be better.

Review 69:The staff were friendly and accommodating.

Review 70:the price, i did not think it was value for money. The room is not maintained up to a standard

Review 81:Staff friendly.

Review 82:Nothing

Review 83:Value for money clean & friendly

Review 84:Definitely quirky!!!

Review 85:Hotel had character

Review 86:Comfortable clean bedrooms and flexible friendly staff

Review 87:Breakfast: Bacon wasn't cooked! Only one egg in very small Omelette. Bar: Part of restaurant, closed when restaurant not in use.

Review 88:There wasn't anything I could fault and I do tend to be a bit critical if things aren't right.

Review 89:Staff, room, food, beer, location, price.

Review 90:Our omelettes were not up to scratch, first time wrong fillings, second one was tasteless.

Review 108:Noisy road at front Beds not 100% comfortable

Review 109:V friendly & efficient staff & service. Great restaurant & bar

Review 110:The staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms were spacious, food excellent.

Review 111:Upon arriving, the toilet was unflushed and soiled. The mattresses onthe beds were such poor quality that all three of us could feel thesprings. At breakfast time, they were tremendously understaffed. Oneyoung man was trying to take care of the buffet line in addition to allof the guests. It would have been a challenge for an experienced stafferbut was too much to ask of this young man. Therefore, it also meant thatbreakfast took a very long time and caused us to get a late start on ourday of travel.

Review 112:The location was ideal. The decor in the bedroom was nice.

Review 113:Just a slight niggle . the bar wasn't open for very long of an evening .

Review 114:We were upgraded to a Deluxe Room which was very comfortable & spacious . The breakfasts & evening meals were excellent & the staff were very friendly . Altogether an excellent hotel & highly recommended !
