Reviews for Hôtel La Résidence des Artistes

Review 1:We have stayed at this hotel three or four times, each time it has been excellent. Very welcoming, extremely clean and very central for restaurants and bars. Breakfast is excellent, eat as much as you like of a variety of food. Will definitely stay again when in Roscoff.

Review 2:Nothing

Review 3:The hotel is really lovely, the artistic theme follows through all the decor making it quirky but very stylish. Brilliant breakfast and superbly clean. Owners very friendly not a single complaint to make. Thanks.

Review 4:Parking isn't private but no problem either on street or large free town car park almost adjacent to property.

Review 5:Lovely little hotel. Great location for restaurants and town. Capsule coffee machine in room. Great wifi. Superb for a stopover or longer stay.

Review 6:When I booked I thought the price per night was 79 euro. We were charged 86 per night and 92 for the two nights at weekend. I was surprised and if I had known I would have booked another hotel.

Review 7:Very nice location. Lovely breakfast.

Review 8:nothing

Review 9:The room was clean and tidy with comfortable bed and a bath as well as a shower. Staff were helpful and friendly. Didn't experience breakfast as we had a ferry to catch but it looked and smelt lovely.

Review 10:Suggestion: would be nice to have a sink in the toilet (it is a bit French old fashion way).

Review 11:Nice atmosphere, very pleasant family ran hotel. Best breakfast we had in France (specially for the teenage children)

Review 12:Nothing. All perfect.

Review 13:Marvellous hotel. Touring Roscoff on bicycles with two young daughters. Lovely owners of hotel. Very friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfasts fabulous. Secure bike storage in garage. We shall visit again if we can. Couldn't have been better apart from the weather!

Review 14:Very good clean hotel in an excellent central location.Roscoff is a lovely town but prices are somewhat higher than other less popular areas in Brittany

Review 15:Street outside was fairly noisy (it was Friday evening!)

Review 16:Central location, in the centre of town. Lovely decoration throughout. Breakfast looked lovely although we had to leave early so we missed it.

Review 17:Question about room rates, booked through Booking.Com last year and costs confirmed. However, on paying on evening before next day departure informed rates had increased and needed to pay additional cost. After a little stand off, hotel agreed to honour old room rates. This aspect was a little disappointing.

Review 18:Nice hotel and location with free parking nearby excellent

Review 19:We booked this hotel because it had a cancellation policy phoned three times left a message the first time got no answer on the next two occasions, a costly expieriance

Review 20:Parking not too easy -its on a one way street. Rooms are small but perfectly ok for 1 or 2 night stay.

Review 21:Fantastic helpful reception staff. Excellent location

Review 22:Overly pretentious. Room did not have tea & coffee making facilities and this was not made obvious when the booking was made. Exterior windows were scruffy and VERY, VERY noisy on the Sunday night as they collect the bins!

Review 23:Clean & tidy with a good shower

Review 24:We needed a bed for the night before catching the Roscoff ferry, we have used this hotel before, excellent value for money, easy parking nearby, lovely staff. Perfect stop-over.

Review 25:I would have liked tea and coffee making facilities. At least one English TV channel would be appreciated and possibly English radio.

Review 26:Decor and ambiance.

Review 27:Wifi connection not very good. It kept cutting out and I gave up.

Review 28:The bedroom and bathroom were well designed and very clean. The large bed was very comfortable.

Review 29:Automatic lights in toilet meant you did it in the dark or waved you hands around every few minutes. No kettle in room, only one TV channel in English.

Review 30:Central location, freshly decorated hotel, clean and comfortable.

Review 31:Stayed in a family room - very comfortable - loved the children's books in the children's room - great touch! Great hotel. Had a wonderful stay.

Review 32:Although centrally located it is next to a car park and most rooms face the road entering the car park and a block of flats, but the funky arty breakfast room makes up for everything. I thought it a bit stuffy and needs a good airing

Review 33:Loved the owners, the arty books the style and good location

Review 34:Nothing at all.

Review 35:A clean, comfortable and friendly hotel offering excellent value for money. Just a short walk from the attractive seafront and many good restaurants with plenty of free parking nearby.

Review 36:Could hear next door bathroom being used (shower running, toilet flushing etc)

Review 37:Location in centre of roscoff, was ideal for easy access to ferry port, hotel was was very welcoming and excellently decorated throughout, was a very comfortable hotel for overnight stay.

Review 38:Nothing.

Review 39:Delightful staff / owners who have the highest standards. It's an elegantly, imaginatively decorated hotel and very very comfortable. We just had our second visit and were even happier than last time.

Review 40:Some English speaking channels would have been great, though we only wanted music

Review 41:Position of the hotel is superb, room was light and airy, modern décor, beautiful bathroom.

Review 42:We loved the room which was very quiet and beautifully furnished. The modern bathroom with lovely shower was super. We had a very good night’s sleep. Have stayed at the hotel before and will do so again.

Review 43:What a gorgeous little hotel, we loved everything about it from the table of beautiful teapots in the dining room to the real fire burning in the hearth at breakfast. Lovely decor throughout and spotlessly clean. Excellent shower and very comfortable bed. Top notch!

Review 44:Perfect location to visit Roscoff, no sea views but only one road back from the harbour in a quiet setting. There's a large free public car park next to the hotel. We were greeted and taken to our room. The family room consisted of 2 adjoining rooms and was perfect for a famy of 4. The children's room had their own TV and French children's books. Good modern bathroom and nice shower. The buffet breakfast was very nice. There is a boulangerie in the corner of the street that sells breakfast for €6.50, rather than the hotel price of €11. Breakfast is half price for children under 10 and they enjoyed it. Overall a very comfortable stay.

Review 45:Short break away with my boyfriend (both early 20's) and I would definitely recommend this hotel: we've both said we'd happily stay there again. The staff looked after our case after an early ferry crossing so we could explore Roscoff unencumbered, and then prioritised preparing our room which enabled us to check in slightly early. Both staff spoke very good English and we're very helpful, the breakfast had a selection of food choices and the lounge area was lovely in the evening with the log fire going as a quiet place to sit and play games with a drink.

Review 46:What a lovely welcome very clean hotel nicely quirky, but modern. Comfy bead, wonderful bathroom. Best location convenient parking nearby. Will always stay here now when we Are in Roscoff

Review 47:When we came down to breakfast we were told that there was no space, so we'd have to wait 20 minutes. Several other couples were in the same position. Eventually we were given a table to share with two strangers. It was no great hardship, but I've never experienced that before at a hotel. It might have been helpful to have been advised the night before to avoid peak times. Breakfast, when we finally had it, was very nice.

Review 48:Friendly staff. Spacious, stylish room considering the price. A small bar (drinks cabinet), but with a great choice of whisky. Staff made a real effort to accommodate our baby, with a travel cot ready in the room, and high chair and toys at breakfast. Peaceful location on a side street, but just a few minutes' walk to the harbour - perfect for a morning stroll to explore the town.

Review 49:Apart from being woken by rubbish collection at 5:30am on Saturday, and some unusual noises in water pipes on Sunday morning (the owners had not heard this before), there's nothing to dislike.

Review 50:The hotel is situated right next to the centre of old Roscoff and very convenient for the shops and restaurants. Interesting decor and comfortable rooms. The owners are very helpful. Breakfast is good quality and it was lovely to have it by the open log fire in the dining room.

Review 51:Quilt on bed was really heavy and it was quite late in evening by the time we realised and we didn't know if any alternative was available.

Review 52:We liked the location and the really interesting decor. The lady who welcomed us was lovely and a warm log fire was going in the evening.

Review 53:Everything was fine - no problems

Review 54:This hotel is just off the main drag in the small port of Roscoff (and therefore very quiet), but within easy walking distance of restaurants etc. It is also very near the ferry terminal, handy for an early morning getaway.

Review 55:one's head bounced off the pillows. Décor a little unusual and garish in the communal areas.

Review 56:good amount of space in the bedrooms and bathroom. Clean and up to date bathroom and bedroom. Excellent swivel lights for reading by.

Review 57:Normally we sleep well but this time we found that the bed in our room this time was very hard otherwise no problems

Review 58:As usual it was an overnight stay which was very comfortable

Review 59:friendly welcome. clean, modern quiet room. up to date shower room. free parking virtually opposite. 2 mins flat walk to shops, restaurants and harbour

Review 60:No tea-or coffee-making facilities in the room. Wifi a bit haphazard.

Review 61:Location close to ferry and restaurants, shops etc. Real open fire in the sitting/dining room. Friendly and helpful staff. Large bed and good-sized bathroom. Free parking nearby.

Review 62:From reception to departure the proprietors made me feel important as their guest and most welcome. The decor is very original with some nice artifacts. It is a well run 'calm place' to stay, within two minutes walk of a choice of bars and good restaurants. High quality fresh continental breakfast served with a 'bonjour' and a nice smile. Super coffee!

Review 63:Nothing to dislike though tea and coffee making facilities in room would be icing on the cake.

Review 64:Clean and very comfortable hotel with attractive decor. Very good breakfast with lots of choice. Really good location and in easy reach of ferry.

Review 65:Room was warm,no aircon.

Review 66:Hotel easy to find, plenty of free nearby parking.Hotel is interesting and quirky, room was clean, excellent bathroom with separate w.c..Free Wifi helped me catch up after a tech.free holiday.Hotel is situated on a quiet street.

Review 67:Wifi tricky to use.

Review 68:Welcoming and friendly staff, interesting interiors, clean and decent size room, good breakfast, location close to harbour and local restaurants.

Review 69:Not enough protein items for breakfast (not a problem for most people).

Review 70:Extremely clean and modern, nice linen, nice bathroom, friendly staff, plenty of space for clothes etc..

Review 71:Breakfast. We only like bread, full size croissants and good tea. Croissants were tiny, the French have no idea how the English like their tea. Bread was good. At 11 euros each we thought it was expensive for what we actually had. Non tea and coffee making facilities in rooms. No restaurant. When you added the cost of the breakfast to the room rate it was over 120 euros a night, much more expensive than our, better Hotel in La Rochelle.

Review 72:King size bed, bathroom, shutters. Location was excellent. Free car parking nearby

Review 73:We had a family room. Our 6 year old loved her own bedroom. Great decor and very comfortable. Lovely breakfast with plenty of variety of food in quirky surroundings. Very helpful staff.

Review 74:Our room was rather small. This, and the feeling to be in a familiar environment more than in a three stars hotel, could be an issue for some guests.

Review 75:It is just in the center of Roscoff on a side street. The building has been renovated with nice ideas. Everything in the lobby-dining room shows the care that the owner took in decorating the place. Pictures, books, flowers, old furniture, a fireplace, an old portmanteau (which, opened, contains a choice of fine liquors), a piano and, finally, a table with a colorful collection of tea pots. The breakfast shows the same care in the choice of good products.

Review 76:Nothing specific. The only "complaint" was that the bathroom washbasin didn't drain very efficiently.

Review 77:A great deal of thought has been put into the general appearance and ambience of the hotel which, we think, clearly reflects the personalities of the owners. We thought both the public areas and our room had a very contemporary feel and we liked the decor. We would certainly consider returning if visiting Roskoff again and recommend you. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, varied and imaginative. Conveniently located for town centre and all facilities.

Review 78:Thought the dining room was on the small side and compact with tables close together. I also felf that the breakfast at 11 euros was to expensive.

Review 79:It was a very pleasant medium size hotel, clean and very comfortable.

Review 80:We hear easily the noise of doors closing & opening from other rooms.

Review 81:We like the location, decoration, breakfast and the hospitality of the owner.

Review 82:The receptionist was friendly and helpful. She pointed out the convenient free public car parking a 100 metres away. We stayed one night after arrival on ferry and a week later the night before we caught the ferry. The hotel is convenient to a wide selection of restaurants. It really worked for us. The breakfast was good too.

Review 83:Street noise and street lights late into the night, unfriendly owners, no amenities in room or bathroom (very bare bones), paltry breakfast - skip and head to nearby bakery or bistro

Review 84:Location to urban center

Review 85:The owners are very welcoming and speak good English. Our room was very comfortable and spotless. The hotel is very central so, although it lacks any views, it is very close to restaurants, bars and the harbour. The buffet style breakfast has a good selection of high-quality food and drink.

Review 86:Very nice welcome after long drive, very clean and comfortable rooms, good breakfast, free 24 hr parking across the road and a minute walk from centre of roscoff

Review 87:The street outside was noisy with loud passers-by late on one of the nights we stayed. There had been a fete in the town that day and this may have contributed to that. For us, the provision of tea and coffee making facilities in our room would have been very welcome. In our travels around Brittany we were delighted to find that other hotels are now increasingly providing this facility.

Review 88:Well appointed hotel, centrally located, carefully maintained, clean and comfortable. We were made to feel very welcome and our room was comfortable, clean and well furnished.

Review 89:Hotel staff greeted us with a warm welcome after our 50 mile cycle and showed us the secure garage where we could leave our bikes overnite with no fuss. Our room was perfect, comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. We really enjoyed a delicious breakfast the next day before a 10 minute bike ride to Roscof Port to board the ferry. We plan to return to the Hotel for a longer stay.

Review 90:Wifi could of been more than the 4hrs once Logging in

Review 91:The Host was superb, helpful, friendly and willing to speak English in response to our poor French

Review 92:A little on the pricey side, but for the knowledge that the bike was safe, worth it!

Review 93:Great staff, lovely rooms, motorcycle was as secure as it gets. Will most certainly use it again.

Review 94:Charming hotel. Easy, relaxed atmosphere, but at the same time run very efficiently by the very friendly staff. Situated on the flat, it is very conveniently positioned for the lovely old town just 2 minutes walk away, for the harbour just beyond, and for the ferry port - just 5 minutes drive away. The 15 minute boat trip over to the lovely Ile de Batz was a good experience. I am a 'walking disabled' person, i.e. not in a wheelchair, and I found Roscoff and this hotel ideal as a short break destination (3 nights). I hope to return there next year.

Review 95:The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we had a lovely room. The self-service breakfast was one of the best that we have had, with lots of choice of the local and bio produce.

Review 96:There was no restaurant where you could have had a meal or snack only drinks.

Review 97:We enjoyed the choice of breakfast and the colour scheme of the outside table and chairs. Comfortable bed but would have preferred a bath as well as a shower.

Review 98:Breakfast content. No restaurant facilities

Review 99:location

Review 100:Everything was perfect. Lovely Hotel. Staff lovely. And 3 minutes from the ferry port.

Review 101:Fantastic location and the hotel has been done to a fantastic modern standard

Review 102:The location was very good, centrally in Roscoff. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 103:spotlessly clean

Review 104:No tea/coffee makings in room

Review 105:Cleanliness, breakfast, log fire, lovely staff

Review 106:Comfortable room with separate loo and bathroom. Good shower. Convenient for ferry. Parking adjacent

Review 107:N/a

Review 108:Perfect hotel and hosts

Review 109:Friendly and relaxed.

Review 110:The room was very clean and nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed. Short walk to sea and cafes. Had a great stay

Review 111:we have stayed at this hotel before. it is perfect your stay in roscoff 5mins from ferry 1min from shops sea etc

Review 112:lovely place. Good location, comfortable

Review 113:Ideal place to stay for ferry nearby free parking. Did not use catering service so unable to comment. Early breakfast offerd

Review 114:Location excellent - close to town but very quiet. Quality of bedding and furnishings top class.

Review 115:Just a little bit of a walk to the centre

Review 116:Everything - great place to stay !

Review 117:Would be nice to have facilities in room to make a cup of tea or coffee

Review 118:Great location and lovely room in a very convenient location for the ferry.

Review 119:lovely central position, easy parking; fabulous room and care taken to meet mobility requirements. friendly staff and superb breakfast.
