Reviews for Link House

Review 1:Having to leave!

Review 2:Welcoming host, excellent breakfasts, comfy bed, clean room, beautiful view across fields. Local maps and guide books to borrow, as well as a wide selection of paperback books and Countryfile magazines. Fresh milk available for tea/coffee in our room and option to have a drink from the bar.

Review 3:Good location for exploring the northern lakes. Very comfortable room and superb breakfasts. Rowan is a very attentive host - he printed off an itinerary and travel directions for a scenic tour which gave us a lovely day's excursion.

Review 4:A bigger tv would help.

Review 5:The property was ultra clean, breakfast was great and hot and filled you up for the day. The property was relaxing quite and plenty of room to park. Bed was comfy and gave a good nights sleep.

Review 6:Wifi was very poor.

Review 7:Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice. Friendly owners who welcomed us with freshly brewed tea in the lounge. Very clean and beautifully maintained accommodation.

Review 8:Everything! It was a truly wonderful stay, the owner was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The room was incredibly clean (and I loved the bathtub!), also great breakfast and fantastic location to explore the National Park.

Review 9:Just a great place to stay in all respects, location, food excellent, spotless, friendly helpful staff, lovely view from room 2. Will go again, John & Ruth

Review 10:Only one thing - the shower in our room needs upgrading.

Review 11:A very clean, well-fitted room with the most comfortable bed. First class breakfast cooked to order. Charming and attentive host.

Review 12:Couldn't link to the WiFi but it wasn't the end of the world. Forced me to switch off from work, sure that if we asked it would have been sorted.

Review 13:A much needed break, link house offered everything, on arrival Rowan provided a tour of the house and a lovely pot of tea.location was ideal, rooms were clean, comfortable and had great views, breakfast was fantastic.

Review 14:The only downside was a set power-cut to the property at 8.30am. We wasn't made aware of this until we checked in. A bit more communication and awareness might be suggested when this arises again.

Review 15:Excellent location, lovely room and bed, very quiet and overall fantastic.

Review 16:We were late arriving so the host, Rowan, sorted an evening meal for us - time and place, which was very enjoyable. The guest lounge was very relaxing and comfortable.

Review 17:Excellent and welcoming staff/owners. Breakfast is superb and would definitely recommend. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud and little touches made the stay all the more better. We will be back here.

Review 18:Excelent reception upon arrival by Rowan. Quick tour around and explanation about the house followed by fresh coffee/tea in the lounge. Rowan has good knowledge about the Lake District and can make good suggestions where to go for walking or have a great dinner. The single room I had was well equiped, clean and has a great bed. Breakfast ingredients come from local farmers and markets: taste is fantastic and many choices. Certainly a plcae to return to!

Review 19:Water pressure in the shower was a little weak, but the gorgeous bath made up for it.

Review 20:The room was immaculate, and had the most comfortable B&B bed I've ever slept in (no sagging here!). Ample tea and coffee in the room. The owner made up a last-minute packed lunch for one of our party, which was much appreciated. Great lakeside location and easily accessible from the A66. Good base for a walking holiday or visiting local attractions.

Review 21:My pillow although my fiancée really liked the bed so maybe it's just me. I prefer a synthetic pilow to a feather one.

Review 22:I thought the Manager was very nice, the facilities were fine and the little lounge was very good. I thought breakfast was truely excellent. The room was good and of a decent size. I'd happily stay there again.

Review 23:The double bed in room 4 has a very hard mattrress and also the shower room (no bath) is extremely small. Realistically, a larger person may have difficulty squeezing into the space where the loo is! Some mould on ceiling above the shower, and bathroom door doesn't shut easily.

Review 24:Lovely setting with great views from our room(Room 4). Room was nice and warm.Well cooked breakfast with very good choice. Fresh milk for bedroom drinks a nice touch

Review 25:Perfect location for our activities. Appreciated the little touches;yoghourt products and butter kept cool on ice. Option or real milk as opposed to those inadequate UHT cartons.

Review 26:Nothing really except perhaps that I would have liked the opportunity of a downstairs bedroom, as I suffer from arthritis and am 85 years old.

Review 27:In my brief stay at Link House I wished I could have been staying longer as it was so comfortable and the service was both efficient and friendly. I rarely eat cooked breakfast, but in this case I had most items and found it most enjoyable.

Review 28:Did not have fault with anything, was truly excellent stay and would return there again when in area!

Review 29:Welcomed upon arrival and shown around guest house, wonderful cosy room perfect for solo traveller (superior single, everything you need and excellent value for money), immaculately clean bathroom, entire guest house very clean, well decorated and had fantastic comfy lounge for use by guests where I caught up with work emails at the end of my day. Parking on site. Not far to drive to nearest town or few pubs nearby for food in evening, the info in the room is comprehensive to help you get around. The inn owner was very helpful and friendly. Cracking eggs benedict breakfast in the morning and homemade granola kept me going the next day! Great views from the inn. Powerful shower, crisp clean bedsheets, warm room, tea/coffee making facilities and biscuits!

Review 30:could not find fault with anything

Review 31:View from our window was fantastic, room was spotless, very comfortable, food was gorgeous large selection and piping hot, owner Rowan very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, local area is beautiful would recommend the walk along Bassenthwaite Lake.

Review 32:Absolutely nothing. Would love to stay there again.

Review 33:Lovely welcome. Beautiful room with a great view. Well cooked breakfast served in a conservatory with panoramic views. There was a local pub you could walk to serving excellent evening meals. A bus stop outside the B&B meant that you had the option of ditching the car.

Review 34:The owner was a Marmite-phobe, so I had to make do with marmalade, jam or honey for breakfast. Next time, I'll sneak in my own little pot - so there!

Review 35:The owner was really helpful even though I was a bit of a pest knocking on his door asking questions later on in the evening and asking to use his private phone the next day. The room, which was not ensuite for the price I paid, was still very comfortable and I had a great bathroom down the hall, all to myself too. Breakfast was also very nice, with free range eggs too.

Review 36:We couldn't complain about anything but if you were staying longer than one night you want want a room with a slightly bigger bathroom as the toilet and shower were very close together. But fine for a night stopover.

Review 37:We arrived at Link House in the evening as we had been travelling for some time and arrived later than we had wanted. We were greeted by the owner and quickly shown our lovely comfortable room. The bed was a pleasure to sleep in and the room very clean. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast the next morning and a beautiful view surrounds the house on all sides. A lovely place to stay for longer if you had the time.

Review 38:Nothing.

Review 39:Made to feel extremely welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Room was comfortable and the food was lovely. One of the best B & B's we have stayed in.

Review 40:A little difficult to find when driving by yourself, directions need to be a little clearer. Towles very rough, need to be tumble dried not on line.

Review 41:Room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was first class.

Review 42:One small thing. In room 2 the smoke/carbon monoxide detector is directly above the bed. If you are on your back with your eyes closed trying to sleep you can see it flashing, even through closed eyes. As i say, i'm being ultra picky but it did irk me a little.

Review 43:Clean Quiet Wonderful views Great breakfast Friendly staff

Review 44:I had booked two nights at Link House however I was involved in a car accident on my way there and didn't make it. Unfortunately I still had to pay in full ...

Review 45:Nothing - only wish dinner was possible, but it is a guest house and not a full-service hotel. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 46:Very clean and comfortable room, tranquil surroundings, and wonderful breakfast (hot things cooked to order, nothing congealed, fresh eggs). We arrived very late and received a great welcome. Will return on next visit to the Lakes.

Review 47:Good choice for breakfast, plenty of fruit. Option to take small jug of normal milk to room when making tea or coffee, rather than using long life.

Review 48:Good sized clean room with excellent view and good shower. Breakfast good but could have been abit more generous with bacon/sausage on the full cumbrian. would stay again if re-visiting the area.

Review 49:Having to use bathroom some distance away from bedroom. Also would have preferred bath to shower.

Review 50:Extremely clean and functional bedroom; delicious breakfast.

Review 63:did not know wash basin was in the bedroom and not in the bathroom.

Review 76:Idyllic location. Welcoming management. Attractive room, very clean a1nd comfortable. Great breakfast. Easy to find.

Review 77:B&B has liquor licence, but price of brandy at £8 a shot is extortionate.

Review 97:Room comfortable and clean, excellent breakfast with pleasant owners

Review 98:Good food, no hassle and very clean.

Review 99:Excellent breakfasts

Review 100:Some main road noise but was to be expected

Review 101:Owners were very helpfull Breakfast was excellent with many choices

Review 102:Would have been perfect if it had a bath, but we knew this at the time of booking and the shower and toilet were really nice. Wi fi could be temperamental, but it was great to have.

Review 103:A hidden gem, friendly staff, excellent breakfasts, lovely rooms and excellent value compared to other options available at the time we travelled.

Review 104:The facilities were first class and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. On the occasion of our visit the other guests were really friendly as well.

Review 105:In spite of the other reviews, I found the host slightly cold and distant. He did provide us with all the information but only on a need to know basis. At one time we felt he actually undermined the fact that we are willing to walk the fells, something which surprised us a lot. We have been to plenty of bed and breakfasts and boutique guesthouses as a part of our extensive fell walking. Certainly this stay was a bit more uncomfortable compared to the rest, as we found a definite lack of effusive enthusiasm which is generally associated with family owned guest houses. Perhaps it was the 'stiff upper lip' taken a bit too far, or simply he was having a bad brooding day!

Review 106:Good location, within easy distance of plenty of walks. Beds were very comfortable. Availability of fresh milk for coffee was a plus point. Breakfast was good, but not the best.

Review 107:The entrance to Link House coming from Cockermouth side, a stone was placed in rather an awkward position and one had to be careful when turning into the drive.

Review 108:The view from the bedroom window was breath taking, and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was very satisfactory with a wide choice of items.

Review 109:Nothing to dislike about this guest house.

Review 110:Beautiful location, great breakfast and great service from Rowan. Room was immaculate with plenty of tea, coffee etc and complimentary toiletries.

Review 111:Only small gripes: 1. Check in is from 4pm. We had to wait until about 430pm before Rowan arrived (no one else was in the house). Rowan explained that traffic had delayed him, fair enough, but perhaps he should allow for that possibility; we were tired after a longish journey. 2. 'Full Cumberland Breakfast' was OK rather than outstanding; we enjoyed other Full Cumbrian Breakfasts elsewhere which were considerably more generous.

Review 112:Link House is pleasantly situated just off the A66, near enough fro convenience but far enough for the traffic noise not to be intrusive. It was easier to find than I thought from some comments available elsewhere. The accommodation was very spick and span, and comfortable. The owner, Rowan, was helpful and friendly.

Review 113:Great location, very relaxing and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was great too!! Would definitely stay there again and would recommend others to
