Reviews for Wayford Bridge Inn Hotel
Review 1:The rooms are tired but the new owners are refurbishing them through 2016.
Review 2:The hotel is in an excellent location. Its staff is friendly, accommodating and professional and the food is very good. The new owners have only been in situ for a couple of months but are already having a positive impact.
Review 3:WE HAVE USED THIS HOTEL FOR SHORT STAYS AND FOR EVENING DINING FOR SEVERAL YEARS. WE HAVE TAKEN FRIENDS THERE AND IT HAS BEEN GREAT. BUT THIS VISIT WAS DISSAPOINTING THE FOOD IS POOR AND OVERPRICED FOR WHAT IT IS AND THE OVERALL CHARM HAS VANISHED
Review 4:THE BREAKFAST WAS GOOD AND WAS SERVED BY SALLY WHO WAS THE FRIENDLIEST AND MOST ATTENTIVE PERSON THAT YOU COULD WISH FOR. SHE ALWAYS HAD A SMILE AND GAVE THAT PERSONAL SERVICE.
Review 5:Nothing. New owners are in the process of redoing all the rooms as of now. They have already done all the public areas and that looks great.
Review 6:Excellent staff, bar, restaurant and parking. Lovely ambience throughout. Very nice lounge area. Good value and quality of "pub grub" with fantastic service. Breakfast very good. Everyone very helpful and friendly.
Review 7:pictures made it seem bit better than actually was, how ever wasn't too bad and cant complain to much.
Review 8:the morning staff where all friendly and nice to be greeted by when having breakfast.
Review 9:sometimes dinner service rather slow
Review 10:nothing was too much trouble for the staff. It was delightful to be served at b'fast rather than the american buffet style. Good menus
Review 11:New owners finding their way and about to start renovation of very tired rooms, bathrooms and hallways. Everything was very clean but needed renovation but the price did not reflect this.
Review 12:Very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast beautifully cooked and presented. Bar staff were very welcoming and Sally was cheerful and helpful at breakfast. Excellent position for visiting the Norfolk Broads.
Review 13:Excellent location, lovely staff and the feel of the hotel was really lovely - the downstairs areas were wonderful, with ample parking, right on the river - wonderful areas to sit in comfort with an open fire - wonderful
Review 14:The friendly and helpful staff. We needed to book a taxi to take us to and from a party, the staff tried to book for us but they were fully booked. The owner offered her husband to pick us up later!
Review 15:Access not good for elderly and disabled but at the time of stay was informed that work was in progress.(Sept 2015).
Review 16:Good location and friendly and helpful staff.
Review 17:The hotel has very recently changed hands and although the new owners have lots of plans the hotel is very tired and the bathroom in our room was very scruffy and not very pleasant.
Review 18:The breakfast was good quality.
Review 19:Staff very welcoming. We stayed here before a few years ago.One of the staff told us that they had new owners and the rooms were going to be refurbished.Still a relaxing place to stay.
Review 20:Accomodation looking dated and tired. Shower was in need of replacement.
Review 21:Great staff and food/drink was excellent. They couldn't have been more professional and helpful.
Review 22:The rooms are looking dated, the bathroom especially. Desperately in need of modernising. The carpet going up to the rooms not very welcoming.
Review 23:The staff and food excellent, the bar area very nicely done. We had a room with a nice view over the river.
Review 24:When we phoned they lied saying they were full. I'd seen on line rooms available. So I booked on line. I booked a double I thought but given a twin. Hotel was 2/3rd empty. Weird bill at end had other name on it.
Review 25:Not the hotel fault but be aware that mobile / wifi is intermittent to say the least. The room and bathroom needed some TLC and the food presentation needs attention (albeit a good meal)
Review 26:Public rooms were nicely furnished and the staff were very pleasant and helpful
Review 27:the fact that they allowed dogs,if i had known i would not have stayed there,i am on holiday and i object to being woken up by a barking dog at 7am,i also object to them being allowed in the room where breakfast was being served, dogs in hotel rooms are unhygienic and unhealthy for anyone who uses the rooms after them, the other point is ,no one seemed to be in charge.
Review 28:location fine and the staff were good although at evening meal times it tended to be a bit chaotic
Review 29:We understood from the staff that they were waiting for the new owners to take up residence . Those staff that were there were doing their best but at times that was a bit lacking . They need some more training.
Review 30:The hotel is well situated for touring the Broads and surrounding area . Our rooms were adequate but could do with some smartening up. One bedside light didn't work and the mattress was a bit lumpy . The shower mat had seen better days .
Review 31:No wifi. Dowdy rooms. Did not try the evening meals. VERY noisy traffic at night, so could not leave the window open. Some of the bar staff had very little experience. Uncomfortable bed
Review 32:Location. Car parking. Spacious bedroom with a view over the river. Good breakfasts.
Review 33:When we came to pay our bill the card machine did not work, so, we had to make a trip into Stallum yo the Post Office to get the necessary money to pay the bill. Bar prices were a little high.
Review 34:I found the room to be a bit noisy. That was down to being able to hear people in the room upstairs and people going up and down the stairs. Also the road seems to be a pretty busy road - obviously they cannot do anything about that.
Review 35:The breakfast was very good and the staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 36:On arrival the room had damp in a corner and the wallpaper was flaking. The shower was dirty with mould. We got another room. This was better but the bed was very unconfortable and the room was noisy. Wifi did not work at all. Staff was slow. I would not come back here nor recommend it.
Review 37:From the photo it looks like the hotel is on a quiet little river, it actually is right beside a very busy main road. Very tired interior and lots of new staff who didn't know what to do. One chap had to pull his own pint!
Review 38:The food was really good.
Review 39:I booked through booking.com and when we arrived they had not got our reservation. They had a room free for 2 nights and offered to book us in somewhere else on 3rd night. The staff were very apologetic and helpful but in fact it was not there fault and I am now taking this up with booking.com.
Review 40:Very friendly staff and excellent food.
Review 41:Bed was so uncomfortable we hardly slept, my daughter was im room number 1 it smelt damp also bed uncomfortable, bedrooms need updating,in our room number 5 in one corner the wall was damp paint was peeling off.
Review 42:Friendliness of staff location was good. Parking excellent
Review 43:First room allocated, was filthy dirty, cracked, damp walls, bathroom tiles and grouting black, gunk all over the shower nozzle, bed squeaky and uncomfortable, dark and very depressing. Asked to be moved. Second room on first floor marginally better, but bed still uncomfortable, bathroom slightly cleaner but still very grim. Staff seemed disorganised, uninterested, not smiling, when we asked for salt and pepper with our meal, we were brought two paper salt and pepper sachets. Given wrong times for Sunday breakfast, in the end we didn't even bother having it and left at 7.30am. Credit card machine wasn't working so had to leave my details written down, which is a breach of my security, no receipt given. Overall, probably one of the most depressing places I've ever stayed at and will certainly not go back, nor will I recommend. Not worth the money we spent.
Review 44:Rose wine was about all I liked.
Review 45:Extractor fan in bathroom didn't work. I told three different people but it wasn't remedied. This wouldn't stop me coming back.
Review 46:Almost everything
Review 47:We were given room 4. Complained about the disgusting state of the shower cubicle. Cleaned the next morning but no better, no other rooms available and unable to get B & B elsewhere for 5 days, we were very disappointed.
Review 48:Very friendly staff, good food, location.
Review 49:The hotel is in need of some upgrade to the carpets which have had a lot of traffic, The bill was incorrect-we had stayed 3 nights but the computer recorded 2. A revised bill was produced for 3 nights upon my request. The computer system may need an upgrade because we were expected the night earlier than we had booked but we had a written confirmation before our arrival of the correct dates.
Review 50:Location was very good. The younger staff were very helpful and finding the best reception for the WIFI. Breakfast was extensive and quickly served by cheerful staff.
Review 51:We expected the hotel to be in Stalham, and was further out than we thought. It is on a very busy main road, although the traffic did not disturb sleep. The photographer was very good, made it seem it was remote by the river. The room overall was basic and clean, but the bed was terrible, it wanted replacing.
Review 52:The staff we met very friendly and helpful. They seemed very overworked due to staff shortage. Breakfast was excellent, apart from the baked beans which had been re-heated. There was lots of space to sit and have a drink or read.
Review 53:Poor WiFi - no access in bedroom, only in lounge area.
Review 54:Excellent breakfast with wonderful service. Central location for the Broads. Good value for money.
Review 55:Nothing else around. Drinks expensive food expensive as no competition. Bar closed at 10pm, no form of background music.taxi cost £15 each way to get to nearest town. Room toilet in need of bleaching
Review 56:Very plesent views
Review 57:Limited Access to WiFi, we also had to drive everywhere as it wasn't in walking distance to any nearby location except the Dayboat hire place
Review 58:Very Friendly, helpful Staff. Food was good
Review 59:Photos on website made to believe that you could walk near the river and that the hotel had extensive grounds. Not the case. Noisy road and very uncomfortable bed. Food overpriced with not much variety. Some staff not very helpful and miserable!
Review 60:Enjoyed breakfast and the staff serving were pleasant.
Review 61:Bed uncomfortable (Springs covering poor) TV remote would not switch on/off and Wifi very intermittent. Dining room furniture, esp metal frame, wooden slatted chairs, uncomfortable and decor dark/depressing; not inspiring!
Review 62:Great location, friendly and welcoming staff, (esp. breakfast). Dining staff good, with food very appetizing.
Review 63:A little more attention is needed to the cleanliness of the surface of the skirting in the bathroom. Also window bottoms in general.
Review 64:This hotel is very handy to explore The Broads.Nice garden at side if weather good.
Review 65:Unable to receive wifi in room
Review 66:Friendly staff, nicely decorated room with quality furniture. Good food in bar and also a restaurant. I enjoyed my stay.
Review 67:Wi fi wasn't available except in one small area in the bar. Despite being given a password it would not come up in the room. Hotel really needs a snack menu as people don't necessarily need a restaurant meal. That said we requested sandwiches and they obliged happily enough.
Review 68:Nice English breakfast with some choice of cereals.
Review 69:The beds are very uncomfable and need replacing This is my only complaint as I have stayed here many times due to family nearby
Review 70:My second visit in two weeks Stayed in a different room , great size and the staff are always really helpful .
Review 71:Getting charged for bar food I thought my son had had but he said he didn't have anything it was only 5 25 had it been more I would have said something sooner
Review 72:Very nice place and staff
Review 73:General cleanliness of hotel was extremely poor, carpet by stairs was black with ingrained dirt. Traffic noise was unacceptable even with windows closed. Food at dinner inedible so we had to go out to find alternative eating place.
Review 74:Appalling evening meals ---nothing fresh, and appeared to be straight out of the freezer into the microwave, overpriced accommodation for the area and facilities ----predecessors did a much better job all roundComfor
Review 75:Friendly staff
Review 76:Not enough staff, had to wait 30mins to check in and was over an hour late being shown to table for dinner. Shower was dirty so didn't want to use
Review 77:Friendly staff, great location and lovely pub. Room was lovely, bed very comfortable
Review 78:The decor in the main public room/bar is "unusual". The bedroom is very tired and needs a complete revamp. The hotel is situated on a very busy main road and there are no facilities nearby to walk your dog in safety.
Review 79:Friendly staff. Very good food in restaurant. Very dog friendly. Exterior of building is very good and display of flowers and small garden are a credit to the owners.
Review 80:The room needed updating and was a 'river view room' was told it had best view by a staff member well yes you could see the river but only a tiny section so was like looking at a pond rather than a long flowing river! The food was terribly over priced, I asked for new potatoes instead of chips and was told ' that's fine but you will be charged for an additional side' my reply was I don't think so, at these prices I expect a choise of potatoes' I wasn't charged! The tables in restaurant were fine shame chairs resembled garden chairs with cushions on and the waitress took out order whilst leaning on the table with her elbows! Cobwebs around skirting boards in bar lounge!
Review 81:Close to family who live in North Walsham
Review 82:Needed more staff, only had two staff on in the evening, they worked really hard all evening and deservEd a huge pat on the back
Review 83:Breakfast was good, nice location, value for money was about right.
Review 84:Beds in comftable and need up dating ,
Review 85:I have stayed here several times over the years. They have made many decor changes to the downstairs bar, dining and lounge areas which are very nice . The staff are always very nice and helpful and good value for money
Review 86:Could have been a daily change of 'specials'.
Review 87:Our 2 night stay was very comfortable we were a little surprised that the hotel was close to the main road but it was quiet through the night so didn't affect us. The staff were all very pleasant.
Review 88:The dining tables are somewhat restricted on knee space, and the menu could perhaps be a little more varied. Wifi is unavailable in many parts of the hotel, in particular the bedrooms.
Review 89:The room was spacious and well equipped, with pleasant views to the river. Parking was plentiful, and the hotel is conveniently located for the nearby attractions.
Review 90:The damp in the corner of room 5 needs attention with pieces of the wall plaster on the floor.Could do with more staff also leaving on a Sunday at 0700hrs there was nowhere to leave our room key as all the doors were locked so left the key in the room
Review 91:Location also the staff were friendly especially Avis at the breakfast
Review 92:Room very hot electric fan issued was insufficient too cool room. Windows could not be opened very wide. Lots of children running about as there is a big play area.
Review 93:Nice food reasonably priced good menu selection. Bar and seating area very pleasant
Review 94:the mattress was unbearable uncomfortable. i had to sleep on the duvet to get a modicum of comfort. the springs were painfully evident to say the least.
Review 95:For some obscure reason they have turned a fabulous pub area into whatlooks like public toilets - all white tiled. They have taken away theheart and soul away.
Review 96:Staff - very good indeed
Review 97:One of our rooms (no 14) had a unpleasant strong smell which we couldn't get rid off. Staff seemed a little overwhelmed at times on a busy Saturday night.
Review 98:The food was good and staff were friendly.
Review 99:as before not enough staff but the two girls on duty all three evenings were exellent.
Review 100:verall we enjoyed or stay but got the impression that something was amiss
Review 101:We had nothing to complain about
Review 102:Welcoming hotel staff ensured we had a ground floor room as we took our pet spaniel Copa. Restaurant menu excellent choice and we were able to eat in the bar are adjacent to the restaurant and the dog allowed to be with us. Breakfast was exceptional value and also included a sausage for Copa - thanks Tony.
Review 103:The bed !!! Plus all the advertising even the signs outside still show this property as one of Marco Pierre Whites but he hasn't been involved for months.
Review 104:Location
Review 105:Next to a main road and nowhere to walk, despite being near a river, disappointing breakfast (though fishwas very good), Wifi barely worked at all, no GSM signal inside the hotel
Review 106:Unusual interior layout, plenty of comfortable lounges to relax and chat, excellent food for an evening meal, helpful friendly staff,
Review 107:The bed was not very comfortable. The free wifi did not work.
Review 108:The food for dinner and breakfast was fabulous. We were especially impressed with the breakfast service. Stayed 1 night travelling from Liverpool before our boating holiday the next day, excellent location.
Review 109:Small double bed despite a good sized room. Dark bar and lounges with no natural light or windows
Review 110:Good proximity and road access to the Broads, Norwich and the Norfolk coast.Excellent food and breakfast and really good staff. Plenty of parking space.Good sized rooms for several day's stay
Review 111:WiFi accessible only in one place in one of the lounges, and very slow. narrow stairways to rooms. Hotel is part of Marco Pierre White emporium & thus in receivership, & for sale, so is in need of some refurbishment. Evening meals below standard expected. No relevant information in room re meal times, use of TV, phone etc. No EE mobile reception in the north & east of Norfolk
Review 112:Friendly helpful staff. Attractive outside planting. pleasant views from bedroom window
Review 113:Our initial room booking was not suitable but the Manager was extremely helpful in resolving the matter. The Hotel is obviously undergoing refurbishment but there is a long way to go I am afraid. It appears very tired.
Review 114:The quality of the food which was very good indeed. The friendliness and helpfulness of all the Staff from the Manager through to the Chef
Review 115:rooms bit sad need decorating but recently been taken over - floorboards need nailing down as corridor noisey!
Review 116:location, food is excellent - staff friendly & helpful & ideal if you have a dog to bring..once they deal with being taken over this hotel will be ideal base for broads
Review 117:Bed springs poor think mattress past it
Review 118:The food was excellent and the staff we're all very attentive and hard working especially the lady at breakfast, very busy but fantastic . Very nice stay would definitely return
Review 119:poor wifi and phone reception. My phone only worked outside. Wifi worked in just one of the 4 lounge areas. It made keeping in touch difficult. However to be fair coverage in North East Norfolk is not easy
Review 120:Quite imaginitive food
Review 121:The location is pretty remote from the town or other facilities such as shops. All were further than reasonable walking distance, a car was necessary.
Review 122:Hospitality and food.
Review 123:The restaurant area was great- modern and stylish and very relaxing, it was a shame that the bedrooms didn't match this standard- could have done with a facelift!
Review 124:The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The location was good if you have access to a car to get about to the sights as the actual hotel is quite isolated. The food was great- well worth waking up in time for breakfast!!
Review 125:Been woken up through the night with banging above and getting s shock of my life when I turned the light on and it went bang and there was a burning smell apart from that it was nice
Review 126:It was very friendly and clean hotel and food was nice
Review 127:The bathroom was tired and in need of some TLC
Review 128:The staff were lovely and the food was very good, one of the best cooked breakfasts we've had at a hotel
Review 129:Very limited wifi.
Review 130:staff very welcoming. Food very good. Room clean and comfortable. Location good - nice views good access to broad lands via main road.
Review 131:bed was ok, but too soft for my taste. comfortable enough though, slept well. very poor wifi in rooms and poor phone signal due to location.
Review 132:location is excellent. staff are really nice and very helpful. room was clean and well equiped. food is exceptionally good, those chips mmmmm. relaxing in front of the log fire after a day out with tea and cake.
Review 133:no real butter 4 your toast at breakfast and could have done with more staff at breakfast service
Review 134:good food good beer the room was comfortable and clean
Review 135:I had asked for a quiet room as we had a long trip. Noise: was a significant problem. Hotel is immediately adjacent to a very busy road - if you don't get woken up by the HGVs and other traffic hurtling past from 05:30, you will be woken up by other guests stamping about on the floor above. There seems to be little in the way of soundproofing internally or externally. Cleanliness: not the best, sink plughole surround was grubby and there was mould in the corner of the bath tiling. Room size: room was so small ('classic double') that you could either use the chair or the suitcase stand, but not both at teh same time.
Review 136:Staff were pleasant, parking was easy, the included breakfast was very good. Evening meal was also OK.
Review 137:Peeling paint in the bathroom and mould in the shower cubicle - it doesn't take much to keep things up to spec.
Review 138:Staff were welcoming, service was good and breakfast was exceptional.
Review 139:The staff especially Maria where excellent. Lovely helpful girl. Everything was worth the money. Breakfast was yummy. Quite a nice position overlooking the river.
Review 140:Giving that the Hotel is in administration, the staff are trying their very best to accommodate the guests considering there is not a manager there all the time , and leaving them to sort out any problems there may be. Food was very good but a limited choice in Restaurant, breakfast was excellent. Our room was good but bathroom needed a good clean. .especially shower head (which we cleaned our self ) but considering they are short staffed the room was clean. We enjoyed our stay and hope they find a new owner soon.
