Reviews for Monarch Hotel
Review 1:Unfortunately the wifi doesn’t reach the upper floors.
Review 2:Very pleasant stay the staff was friendly and helpful. Nice to relax in a bath after a long days walking.
Review 3:The only slight disadvantage is the very limited onsite parking.
Review 4:Location is great. I was there during a gale, and restaurants, coffee shops, and convenience stores were very close.
Review 5:The shower curtain rail was very clumsily attached to the wall. It just missed falling on my head as I was washing my hands in the sink! It did look strangely non-horizontal when I first saw it but I did not expect this.
Review 6:Nice staff. Quiet room.
Review 7:Nothing to dislike
Review 8:The room was great really comfy bed very friendly staff all round couldnt find a fault but then again i werent looking for any will deffinatly come again many thanks well done

Review 13:The welcome and the warmth of the staff in the hotel. Especially at breakfast, what lovely staff and a beautiful breakfast not swimming in grease, one of the best.
Review 14:NOT WHAT WE WAS EXPECTING FROM PHOTOS ON LINE TOTALY UNHAPPY EXPERIENCE GOT BREAKFAST WITHIN 30 SEONDS OF SITTING DOWN MOST OF IT INEDIBLE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK
Review 15:Food was not available in the evening if not pre-booked, there were no bar meals possibly because there was a coach party in, this was not a big problem.
Review 16:Comfortable, warm welcoming hotel at a very good price.
Review 17:One of the most uncomfortable beds we have ever slept in, anywhere in the world and there was an unpleasant odour on the bed linen.
Review 18:A convenient location and very pleasant staff
Review 19:Would have liked a nice sea view which I understand if hotel had not been fully booked we would have had. However our room did have a side view of the sea but thought windows could do with a bit of a clean. However this is the only negative.
Review 20:We found the staff very friendly and helpful. Also excellent location.
Review 21:The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help us during our stay (we have a 3yr old and a new baby). Breakfast was great also - Excellent value for money
Review 22:Fire alarm went off at 4.30am due to the steam from someone's shower.
Review 23:Friendly staff, good food. Very good entertainment in the evening. Comfy room.
Review 24:the location near the sea is just what i was looking for and will definitively be staying again ,a member of staff you was on around 5pm on the bar was very friendly and really helpful he was on the bar on the friday .its a pity my stay couldnt have been longer .
Review 25:Sort walk to beach and Town parking could be a problem as tragic wardens out at early am to slap a ticket on your car.all day parking £5.50 hence wardens out early wile u still in bed
Review 26:As advised by other guests it needs updating and better parking facilities. some people can or do not park correctly and because the hotel do not take reg when checking in it can cause issues when trying to exit / enter
Review 27:location perfect, room view was amazing and staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 28:the hotel needs an injection of style to bring it up to date.
Review 29:the central position of the hotel for all the facilities in Bridlington and access to the quieter parts.
Review 30:The hotel has a very dated feel about it and could do with updating. The beds were very old and not comfortable.
Review 31:Conveniant location for where I needed to be.
Review 32:Evening meal not very good paid £15 per head and was a microwave meal, never again
Review 33:Good staff comfy beds lots of hot water. Waiters' very pleasant and good Yorkshire accent nice to hear when in Yorkshire.
Review 34:Very noisy after 7am, with old doors !. A keycard system would be better. Also car parking very limited.
Review 35:Location. Friendly staff. Sea view. Breakfast great. Price.
Review 36:The bed was too hard for me and it creaked when you turned over. There were too much noise on a night, it sounded like there were a tap constantly running.
Review 37:The staff were very friendly, The hotel was clean and the service was very good
Review 38:The room was quite small and facilities were a little dated.
Review 39:The manageress was very welcoming and helpful during arrival. Fantastic sea view and a great location.
Review 40:Nothing was wrong.
Review 41:We were made very welcome from the start. Staff were brilliant, the room was very nice and clean and tidy, a bonus was tea and coffee maker in the room.
Review 42:En suite was very dated and in need of some repairs to tiling etc. Sink was dirty. Coffee was cold at breakfast and the toast had been cremated.
Review 43:Seafront location
Review 44:Bedrooms could do with re decorating and up dating, bit stuck in the 90's. Breakfast was good that it was not a buffet but wasn't very hot
Review 45:Very friendly and well located
Review 46:The lift! I was on the third floor and noticed people were using the stairs from that floor.
Review 47:I was born in Bridlington and remember the hotel opening. It is solidly built and quiet at night. Nicely old fashioned.
Review 48:Room 27, which was not the room booked, was very dowdy and needed a lot of cleaning and sorting out.
Review 49:Room 33 very nice clean room with beautiful sea view.
Review 50:Bathrooms could do with refurbishing , big crack in the sink and cracked tile in the shower. Windows would benefit from a bit more TLC
Review 51:lovely friendly reception staff, good sized room nice breakfast. Option available to leave bags at hotel for safe keeping after checkout
Review 52:Would have liked shampoo, shower gel in bathroom. Lift very old, but did work well.
Review 53:Friendly staff, position by the sea.. Quiet hotel, good value for money.Good bathroom plenty of hot water.
Review 54:The breakfast was the worst ever.poor quality products used . Certainly not proper weatabix tasted like cardboard and cooked breakfast was horrible. Sausage not seen a pig! They had bought cheap bacon etc
Review 55:lift antiquated, hotel rooms shabby need a facelift. silver fish in daughters bathroom
Review 56:hotel staff friendly and amenable, food good, location reasonably near city centre, disabled parking facility.
Review 57:As above
Review 58:The location is very good and parking a bonus the hotel is tired and needs a refurb especially the bathrooms there are 90 steps to floor 5 although there is a lift if somewhat ancient this could be a goldmine if someone took the refurb on as they fet regular bus loads of seniors
Review 59:the telephone in the room was not connected throughout
Review 60:we are returning customers ;we requested a seaview and got it! the staff are very helpful and do go out of their way to respond to your needs e.g. replacement hairdrier and putting my icepack for injury in the freezer over our stay.
Review 61:Toilet made a terrible noise when flushed
Review 62:Location and parking. Had to leave early due to sons work commitments got some money back despite late notice
Review 63:Wifi didn't work, but to be honest we didn't care about that as we loved the hotel and surrounding area. Didn't need to use the wifi as was busy doing other things.
Review 64:Everything! Friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Absolutely fantastic room with a brilliant seaview!
Review 65:shower only cold water worked the toilet made a noise while filling witch took about 5mins after we flushed it and there was a notice about smoking to smoke away from the doors and to the 2 bins there yet the manger on shift was smoking there
Review 66:good hotel and size of the room was really good not to big but to to small and the location was in a good spot
Review 67:Poor breakfast. Probably one of the worst in any hotel I have stayed at. No mushrooms, one bacon rasher, one sausage (poor quality)
Review 68:Staff and general appearance of hotel.
Review 69:Staff were very friendly, accommodating and helpful,, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Breakfast although not massive was well prepared and hot.
Review 70:Breakfast sausages and bacon not the finest. Latest breakfast and room vacation times (9 and 10am) a bit early
Review 71:Central location near Spa and harbour with great sea view
Review 72:terribley tight parking , would love to see wi fi in all rooms,
Review 73:great central location , amazingly friendley staff, comfy room , great food , great seaview to die for , one of best nights sleep ive ever had
Review 74:Nothing
Review 75:Stayed here overnight while visiting family, perfect location and very friendly helpful staff.the view from our room was priceless, couldn't of asked for a better place considering the price we paid was very low
Review 76:Fried breakfast was a bit on the cool hard side, gather it's pre cooked as it only took minutes to come to the table and we were first in?
Review 77:Value for money (was an offer). Wonderful location, great sea view, clean and comfy enough. Quiet. Friendly staff.
Review 78:breakfast been cooked for a while and kept just warm.no water in toilet.two small chairs bit warn.no little extras.
Review 79:excellent location. staff good. bed ok.
Review 80:Good location, clean room with a nice view. The staff were more than helpful and always happy and cheerful nothing to much for them Breakfast was lovely.Definitely stay here again
Review 81:The small old fashioned lift. Also the wifi did not work.
Review 82:The location of the hotel and the facilities in the room. The facilities in the room were excellent and cleanliness too was good
Review 83:Nothing to let us know that we would not be able to get a bar meal as menu being changed, were not told about having to book an evening meal before 5pm,not good, as late travellers we had to then set of to find a place to eat. Shower not to be desired, electric one would have been better. Couple of comfy chairs in room would have been nice, so we could have watched TV without having to use beds. I feel that the we did not actually get value for the £144. that we paid.
Review 84:We had the sea view we requested, and comfy beds.
Review 85:Our first taste of a welcome was from CORRIE at time of booking. This continued when we met her at last on arrival. All staff were most pleasant and helpful.
Review 86:Nothing at all.
Review 87:I liked everything, especially the staff they couldn't do enough for you the room was spotless and the food was spot on. I will be going back next year. 10/10. I can't thank you all enough.
Review 88:the only "bad" experience was the old lift got stuck while I was in it alone - soon rescued at the press of a button from staff
Review 89:The friendly and very helpful staff at hotel, the nearness to the sea front, and the spacious, clean facilities at the hotel. The room was excellent with lots of space and very comfortable/. It was good to relax in the ample bar (with entertainment) in the evening, games room and lounge areas very good. We loved it at the Monarch and would certainly return and recommend to friends.
Review 90:ooh the mattress could have been alot better
Review 91:We went to the Spa for a concert, was so glad hotel was is staggering distance, feet killing me. Lovely staff really welcoming. Has a very good vibe all be it a bit old.
Review 92:Although the hotel is very 'British seaside resort', don't let it put you off as that's not intended as a critisism - it's just not in the same vein as a Premier Inn or their ilk with their generic 'modern' facilities. Can't say I actually 'disliked' anything...
Review 93:Friendly, helpful staff, good facilities. Really good with the boys (both 12yrs old). Late evening barstaff excellent (for a Leeds-ish fan)! Would recommend.
Review 94:Hotel was very tired, good location on seafront and lots of money being spent developing the resort but this hotel also need some TLC.
Review 95:Staff, staff and staff, couldn't do enough for you.
Review 96:Only problem was room was to warm even with the heating turned off.. But that is all not a bad negative just personal.
Review 97:Staff excelled themselves . Very relaxing stay.
Review 98:The fish and chips we had were terrible. On the Saturday evening no bar meals available, not very good for those who didn't want a three course meal. Bonus was we were reccomended YIP'S chinese excellent
Review 99:Friendliness of Mark the barman.
Review 100:Everywhere clean and presentable, staff willing and polite, nothing too much trouble for them, breakfast was good quality and ample to see you through the day.Considering I was the only guest in the Hotel for a couple of days I was made to feel welcome, I will stay again, B+Bs in the area were more expensive and in my experience of lesser quality.
Review 101:WiFi wasn't working and doesn't reach upstairs.
Review 102:Staff are friendly, location was good, sunrise over the sea is beautiful, room was clean and comfortable.
Review 103:My son was disappointed at the lack of shower gel etc. but he travels a lot on business and is used to staying in 4*+ accommodation paid for by his employers.
Review 104:My family reported that they were comfortable and well fed. One daughter was thrilled to find towels were provided. All slept well and car parking was much appreciated.
Review 105:The location was great, all staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Great value for money. Highly recommended.
Review 106:The room we had was warm and comfortable and had a lovely sea view. The staff couldn't do enough for us, really warm and friendly. The food was excellent. Would definitely go again next year. Thankyou so much for a lovely time.
Review 107:Having to hand in the key ebery time we left was a bit annoying
Review 108:Rooms lovely and clean and really warm as the weekend was so cold, staffreally helpful and polite
Review 109:not being able to stop longer
Review 110:exceptional customer service didn't know it was turkey and tinsel but was invited to join in by steve. thank you hope to see you soon
Review 111:No parking Very dated rooms, rusty rails in bathroom Not very clean One very old slow lift Television tiny Dirty kettle Mould in room under wallpaper
Review 112:The staff were lovely very friendly and very helpful Beds were clean and comfy although no protectors on them As close to the sea as is possible
Review 113:Limited off street car parking. Bar meals not available evenings.
Review 114:Efficient and friendly staff willing to help when required. Room well serviced and drinks sachets replenished daily.
Review 115:The hotel is a little tired. I like a softer bed than the one in my room. Booking.com did not make it clear I would pay on arrival.
Review 116:Watching the sunrise out of the sea from my window. The staff went further than most staff to ensure my stay was enjoyable.
Review 117:Whats not to like? Great little hotel.
Review 118:The room - glorious view with balcony, lots of room. Parking onsite. Great location. Staff friendly and helpful. Incredibly good value.
Review 119:Only thing we didn't like was the shower it had a mind of its own other than that no problems
Review 120:Great location, take away up abit from it is beaut, staff are all friendly and bubbly, room was great and spacious
Review 121:I or none of party of 11 had any problems with this hotel when I'm back in Bridlington I will be booking again
Review 122:The staff couldn't do enough if you asked they were only too pleased to help very friendly very helpful
Review 123:The location is fab if you are going to Bridlington spa, it's literally across the road. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean, the bed was comfy and we had a amazing view of the sea. I don't usually write reviews but I can not fault this hotel. We didn't eat there so I can't comment on the food but if ever I was going to Bridlington again I will most definitely stop the again
Review 124:Arrived and met with very friendly staff and went to our room. Wow what a stunning view!! Would definitely stay here again as long as I got the stunning view.
Review 125:The room is rather basic and still stuck in about 1970! We don't mind so long as the price is reasonable but at £70 booked well in advance with no breakfast it is overpriced.
Review 126:The view across to the harbour.
Review 127:The breakfast was fair but not great quality. you can see where they are trying to make savings. Our room was cramped and not so clean. Staff were very helpful but the hotel was fully booked for a dance event which meant we couldn't get moved. For the money it was okay but I wouldn't recommend in case I got the same room.
Review 128:The staff were really helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel was nice, but the inside really needs an upgrade with attention to cleanliness in the room. Staff were the best thing about this hotel.
Review 129:The water from the tap for making tea or coffee. The beds are really past their sell by date although we slept well in our twin beds they dipped in the middle .Glad we chose the twin beds.
Review 130:Views from our room. Cleanliness Friendly and extremely helpful staff. Great breakfast.
Review 131:No lamps in children's room to help them feel more secure. Other than that we had no complaints.
Review 132:We were looking for a bedroom attached to our bedroom for our girls. It was perfect.
Review 133:Lack of parking, not even a reasonably priced car park or long term street parking nearby (maybe something the Council needs to address?). Sunday breakfast period (ends 9.30am) and checkout time (10am) maybe a little too early.
Review 134:Good location, convenient for town, harbour and beach, and especially handy for the lovely Spa Theatre. We received a very warm and friendly welcome and the staff we encountered were very helpful too. Free WiFi appreciated but not available except in reception/bar areas.
