Reviews for Chesford Grange - QHotels
Review 1:Bar area was cold. First night log fire was lite, on the second night it wasn't and felt chilly in hallways, and bar area.
Review 2:Reception staff and bar staff were amazing
Review 3:Too many children in small pool. not enough staff at breakfast, so service for tea &coffee very slow. Food average. Found soiled underpants in wardrobe.
Review 4:comfortable rooms, friendly staff at reception, quick booking in /out.
Review 5:Only slight pain was size of changing room.. Only one cubicle to change in.
Review 6:Twin room had two double beds which was a great surprise. All clean. Nice pool and steam room. Great service in hotel at evening dinner.
Review 7:The hotel was very busy. The rooms are not very sound proof, there were a lot of doors slamming frequently and we could hear next door in their bathroom. Food and drink was expensive for what is was - 2 small glasses of wine and 2 salads £38. Breakfast was ok we had it delivered to our room, our fruit was missed off the order and we had no condiments or sugars for our drinks. I had to call to request these. When they arrived they came on the most atrocious tray. It was absolutely filthy it looked like it had been used for decorating, it was covered in paint and had remnants of old food squashed on it, needless to say we didn't have an appetite after food being delivered on that. We probably wouldn't stay at this chain again.
Review 8:The hotel itself was nice, the rooms were well equipped and clean for the price paid. Location was nice and easy to find.
Review 9:The worlds worst carpets, horrible ambience and interior design, car parking a challenge, large sprawling and uninspiring, putting money on my card for phone calls rather than normal billing, smelt awful kind of damp (perhaps they had steam cleaned those carpets. didn't live up to its website. Good perhaps for conventions.pricey.
Review 10:It had a pool I didnt use, Breakfast was OK and rooms good size and clean
Review 11:The room allocated had a smell of sewage and to get another room I had to pay an upgrade fee On my second night the bar was full of a convention where the behaviour and language was disgraceful. Staff seemed unable to deal with to the dismay of other residents
Review 12:Staff were courteous
Review 13:The wardrobe in Room 112 is a joke. It doesn't go from left to right it goes from the back of the wardrobe to the front angling down. So that if you want to get something out from the back of the wardrobe you have to take everything out. It's a ludicrous design and needs changing.
Review 14:Staff very attentive, and extremely helpful. Meals very good. Facilities good.
Review 15:Couldn't get back into the bar area when we went and sat outside had to end up knocking on the door
Review 16:We loved our room and it was very clean, bar area was great, we would definitely visit again next year.
Review 17:Very poor staff in the bar, did not understand what they were serving. Bar food poor quality (curry) sent back because it was cold, naan bread not fresh, very little meat £12 ?? Not good.
Review 18:Very clean, nice room, good location
Review 19:Rooms were very warm and very hard to cools down. A few cobwebs around.
Review 20:Have used this hotel before and would defo use it again. I love the location and all te facilities. Plus the food is very good too.
Review 21:They seemed to have trouble keeping food warm, both evening meals and breakfasts were luke warm.
Review 22:Location was nice, great surroundings. Staff were very helpful.
Review 23:The tall lamp in my room was full of dead flies, one of the curtains was hanging off the curtain rail due to lost hooks, carpet in the event room was dirty/full of hairs. Breakfast could do with a little more thought for healthy options.
Review 24:Great location, plenty of hotel facilities and great for single travellers
Review 25:Walls a bit on the thin side, could hear the TV in the next room.
Review 26:Nicely decorated room which was spacious and clean. Excellent well equipped bathroom. Good value for money.
Review 27:It took 5 hours and three requests to get towels in the room, took 20mins to get coffee at breakfast, ran out of hot food in one go and didn't stock up immediately, got wrong sauce with our steak at dinner. Oops. Should have been a lot better for the money
Review 28:Reception staff were very welcoming and polite, and resolved our problems as best as they could. Bed very comfortable and room location meant it was very peaceful
Review 29:room not ready until 45 minutes after guaranteed check in time, carpet in room stained and broken laminate floor, no coffee in room, staff not caring about room not being ready, bath very high and wide very difficult to access also not enough car parking for amount of guests
Review 30:nice breakfast
Review 31:Outside of town so restaurant has monopoly - expensive small portions - asked for salad with chicken breast received couple of slices of Bernard Matthews sliced chicken - complained and was changed immediately without debate but the fact they would try such a thing put me off place completely
Review 32:Good facilities
Review 33:Shower head fell off whilst I was having a shower!
Review 34:Quick check in and receptionist was smiley. Lovely room (347) which was exceptionally clean. Lots of tea bags - an essential for me!
Review 35:Another one of those hotels with pretension of grandeur that under-perform compared to (say) mass market budget brands which tend to target consistency and enabling a Good Night's Sleep. I accept that using an old building has its drawbacks, but there is little excuse for some of the compromises in this case: for instance how difficult would it have been to provide or bedside light? Or put the light switches where they are in 99.99% of all buildings -- by the door -- rather than in the diametrically opposite corners?
Review 36:Nothing I can think of
Review 37:The bed was hard and on simple rollers. I would expect much more for the nightly rate.
Review 38:Gorgeous property. I wish I could have stayed another night. The staff was top notch!
Review 39:All staff we encounted were very helpful. Jenny on reception was extremely helpful, giving us a map and directions to the bowls tournament in Leamington.
Review 40:Staff were extremely indifferent at check-in. In fact the first thing that was said was to ask me for a credit card - not a great welcome.
Review 41:Rooms were well equipped. Gym was ok but compact. Staff at breakfast were friendly.
Review 42:When checking in at reception we were given a 'standard room' instead of the 'superior room' that had been reserved and paid for months in advance. After complaining, this was soon rectified. The windows in this room were filthy on the exterior. The 'standard room' was in need of some refurbishment.
Review 43:Very expensive alcohol prices, particularly wine. £10 for a pint of beer & a large wine (which was only 175 cl), was ridiculous.
Review 44:Great breakfast, comfy bed, overall, a well-decorated hotel. Very pleasant staff.
Review 45:Breakfast not very hot but in all fairness they said the air conditioning had just broken, so the air was quite cool. Excellent choices though & all well displayed
Review 46:Friendly welcoming staff. Cleanliness of room & hotel in general
Review 47:Light in the room had no off switch so only way to turn off was via the mains switch which meant none of the lights including next the bed worked! Bath very high to get into would be no good for elderly or disabled.
Review 48:Good location beautiful grounds big room.
Review 49:The room was very warm, could have done with air conditioning or a fan, which to be fair we did not ask for.
Review 50:A very good breakfast with plenty of choice to suit all tastes and friendly helpful staff in the bar and restaurant.
Review 51:Nothing I didnt like
Review 52:It was a great place to stay. Clean with great facilities. The food was lovely. I am lactose and wheat intolerant this was catered for with no fuss.
Review 53:Its not a bad comment just an observation Breakfast on the Saturday morning was very good. Sunday morning was a different experience rather busy although there were lots of free tables we had to wait for more hot food it seemed to be a bit chaotic.
Review 54:We were visiting relatives the location was excellant. The hotel was very good in lovely grounds all rooms well kept, clean and modern
Review 55:Poor food choice.very expensive sent back meal tough as leather given a nother meal which was raw at £27 it should be perfect .breakfast was only warm .i think your chefs need take note.
Review 56:All good!
Review 57:Our room was quiet, clean and comfortable, nice big bathroom, quality tea and coffee, view from our window overlooked fields - lovely! Staff were very efficient and friendly, we couldn't have asked for more.. thank you!
Review 58:If you want to book a spa treatment do it in advance as they get booked up quickly.
Review 59:The bed was huge. The location was perfect for visiting kenilworth castle. The staff were very helpful and polite.
Review 60:The bed was hard, room stuffy and if you used air con it was really loud. Staff on reception were unfriendly and bordering on rude
Review 61:location to Warwick University and plenty of parking
Review 62:The reception area is somewhat austere, and the receptionist could have been more outgoing. the public areas needed a good fresh air blow through. There was a prevalent food smell around the bar area.
Review 63:We enjoyed the peaceful location and for us, its convenient location. Service and dinner and breakfast in the restaurant was excellent, and our room was very comfortable.
Review 64:room service meal was very poor fish not cooked cold in the middle barley undercooked like eating pebbles, wine ordered did not come with the meal arrived 10 mins later and the waiter had spilt 10% of the wine on the tray wine dripping everywhere
Review 65:Large, business hotel, not really suited for independent guests The level of lighting throughout was poor - someone is trying to save energy, but making life difficult for residents.
Review 66:Staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Review 67:Breakfast selection - no muesli. Fruit - a bit limited. No bananas or grapes. Prepared fruit - not much variety ie no prunes and dried fruit. Milk not labelled ie semi skimmed, full fat etc. jugs would have been useful here.
Review 68:Great linen. Staff pleasant
Review 69:Food was awful and have complained many times in the past when I have stayed. This time the Salmon was not the freshest and the Saffron wheat contained far too much saffron - it was inedible. Staff agreed to allow me my gin and tonic free but when I came to sign of my restaurant bill they had the wrong name on this and wrong room number. I refused to sign but the amount on that bill was correct. I was encouraged to sign it and was told they couldn't put things right at that moment but would do later. Signed the bill and made sure I had put crosses on there to identify the mistake. On check out found I had drinks added to my hotel bill and beverages that I hadn't had. (Thought that might happen). Inquest at hotel reception as young man couldn't authorise taking these incorrect amounts off. Supervisor could but I was asked to sign a blank piece of paper obviously to compare signatures - which made me feel pretty cross. I had not had these items!!! I knew that the mistake made in the restaurant would cause me further problems - which it did. I was given a new amended account. Toilet in my room needed a good clean around the rim as filthy. Breakfast was poor as staff had decided to start clearing away breads and such like when I arrived which was after 9am. The selection on the menu is not available on their buffet. I had to ask for some proper bread and was told that I could have gluten free which I didn't want. Just didn't want thin sliced processed bread - all they had !! I eventually had to complain and a loaf of bread appeared as if by magic!
Review 70:Convenience and location
Review 71:WAS TOLD SPA HAD SAUNA WHEN BOOKED, DID NOT. WAS TOLD I COULD ORDER ROOM SERVICE BUT IT WOULD £3.50 FOR THEM TO CARRY THE FOOD TO MY ROOM. RIDICULOUS OVERCHARGING WHEN ITS ALREADY £8 FOR ONE SANDWICH. BREAKFAST WAS TERRIBLE, RAW SAUSAGES, OFF MILK AND MOODY STAFF.
Review 72:Room hot but a/c very noisy. Breakfast a bit of a shambles - Dirty tables etc Unable to take newspaper subscription voucher for paper (first ever!) Confused room layout. Expensive.
Review 73:Comfortable bed. Decent rooms
Review 74:The breakfast was only luke warm and the scrambled eggs were not proper eggs and tasted like mashed up egg custard. We had booked a superior room, but this turned out to be exactly the same as the standard room that we had last year, only more expensive.
Review 75:The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The room was clean.
Review 76:breakfast - sausages and bacon swimming in grease, only one fried egg ready. Only worth the value if included in the room. The £15 charge would be extortionate for what you receive if not included.
Review 77:great terrace to catch the early evening sun and enjoy a drink or two. Polite and courteous staff, asked to have the camp bed removed which which duly taken care of.
Review 78:At breakfast time from 3 tables found 5 very dirty cups not washed properly. Put us off breakfast - waiter found others that had not been washed properly. Dirty teaspoons too. Asked for hot water and lemon to drink. Water was brought in stained metal teapot so it came out looking brown and disgusting. Lukewarm hot chocolate served very slowly - about 20 minutes to arrive. No labels on milk churns in restaurant so no idea which full fat or semi skimmed. One shower in swimming pool area not able to be turned off so ran for long time. In room 428 large flush button on WC not worked.
Review 79:Staff very good - Andrea and Rachel - chambermaids - very efficient and helpful. Lauren in the restaurant and Steve Mansell too both extremely polite and welcoming and good ambassadors for the hotel. Bedroom comfortable and excellent air con. Meeting with assistant manager positive in regard to complaints.
Review 80:Room temperature was unbearably hot and does not adjust. This led to "no" sleep and ruined the experience
Review 81:Good relaxed hotel with great facilities on site
Review 82:Room was rather dark only one small window that looked out onto a tree. This made privacy good but very dark in my room. The shower was not very powerful and water only warm even though I turned the temperature disk right round to 50!
Review 83:Staff friendly and helpful especially waiting staff at breakfast, nothing too much trouble. Bed very comfortable. Location good for local facilities of Kenilworth and Warwick.
Review 84:If there rooms with patios had proper tables and chairs on them, instead of nothing at all.
Review 85:That Liam on reception was so lovely and helpful, valuable member of the team i would think.
Review 86:With COPD I had to request that the uplighters were cleaned as the heat from the lamps made the excessive dust float into the air affecting my breathing difficult. I was surprised to sea halogen lamps in the room due to the QHotel eco-policy!
Review 87:The hotel was spacious and the room comfortable. The hotel staff were very approachable and attentive - great customer service skills, especially Kelly on reception.
Review 88:Staff unhelpful and bar staff unable to use correct glasses for beer Also large glass of wine is in fact only a medium measure of 175ml
Review 89:Clean comfortable accommodation
Review 90:The breakfast was excellent and the hotel position good for our conference at Stoneleigh. Room very clean and although there were two weddings over the weekend we were there we were not disturbed by any noise (not the case in some places we have stayed)!
Review 91:Breakfast not the best. Toilet flush not working properly and something was not right in our room which meant we had a constant humming noise coming from somewhere. Staff all good but gym changing room was dirty.
Review 92:Good spot for Warwick Stratford and Leamington out of town and comfortable
Review 93:Room was a bit in small side and faced a brick wall we couldn't open the window hardly at all and got no air into room needs air con ! The steam room in the leisure facilities needs turning up it was hardly hot enough In fact we should have slept in there and Steamed in the room ! :-)
Review 94:Staff were friendly and very helpful enjoyed the swimming pool and breakfast was good
Review 95:Wine too expensive for the quality at the bar. The carpet in the corridors if you walked too quickly it was Luke having a seizure
Review 96:Easy to check in and out reception staff very helpful
Review 97:Bedroom too dark even with all the lights on. TV Channels very limited. Not what I would expect from a hotel of this standard. Load noises after 11:00 from groups outside kept me awake one night.
Review 98:Air con in room. Very clean and comfortable. Staff are particularly helpful and friendly.
Review 99:We call up twice in advance to find out if we needed to book afternoon tea and was told by reception no we could just turn up. Again when we checked in we asked reception again and they told us to just order it at the bar, so we went to the bar and was told we had to pre order afternoon tea as chef needs to order in some of the cakes, this was disppointing as this was a birthday treat. Breakfast the next day was not as good as we were expecting. The breakfast items were not replenished untill guests asked it to be then we had to wait. We wanted butter with our toast rather than Flora and was told the hotel doesnt have butter!!!! We also felt the yoghurts & sauces were watered down.
Review 100:Reception were helpfull in advising where the places to eat were for an evening meal and phone the restaurant and booked us a table. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable.
Review 101:Breakfast was disorganised. We had to queue for a table and then had to wait for fresh food to be brought out. I had to make my own toast!! I hate that!!
Review 102:Beautiful hotel, in a lovely location. Staff were very nice.
Review 103:The dinner menu is expensive for mediocre food. The hotel feels tired and the swimming pool is ok but changing rooms are too small. Also, very long queues to get a table for breakfast.
Review 104:It is one of the most reasonably priced Q hotels. It's in a great location close to Leamington Spa, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon. The staff are all very friendly.
Review 105:As a single traveler on business, the facility has very poor Wifi and no Sky TV in the lounge area.
Review 106:Good facility, with pool and fitness area, good restaurant and excellent staff.
Review 107:More should have been made of the lively hall and fireplace seemed a bit dated. Breakfast was made out of the cheapest ingredients scrambled eggs vile
Review 108:Location good nice setting
Review 109:Location, terrible bus connection to Warwick University; Funny smell in the whole building; Place looked a bit worn out; Food was just OK; When checking out the receptionist made bill in euro's despite my explicit question to bill in pounds. That cost me an extra 25 EUR because of unfavourable exchange rate compared to my own bank.
Review 110:Large bathroom; Free cookies in room; Comfortable bed; Lovely garden; Staff in breakfast area were nice;
Review 111:staff too busy dealing with company conferences to pay any real attention to paying guests. would it hurt to smile occasionally
Review 112:the rooms were excellent but we did have a superior one and would expect non less.
Review 113:Nothing
Review 114:Fab stay, friendly and helpful staff, good pool/steam room, very near Warwick and places to visit. Hotel bar food tastey and reasonable priced. Amazing breakfast. Can't beat it for £26 each per night. Would definitely come back again
Review 115:First room shown dark and very small. Next room very dusty and dirty and sheets very creased , this was shown to reception staff who moved us straight away to another room which was excellent.
Review 116:Excellent breakfasts Peaceful surroundings
Review 117:THE RESTAURANT IS NOT WELL ORGANIZED. QUALITY OF THE FOOD IS GOOD BUT THE SERVICE AND ORGANIZATION ARE MUCH IMPROVABLE.
Review 118:NICE ROOM, SMALL BUT GOOD WELLNESS CENTER.
Review 119:Bed was more like two mattresses on a camp bed. Really uncomfortable and hardly slept. Wifi connection very slow. Restaurant service very slow (given free drinks as compensation) Air con didn't work in room. Children running along corridors kept me awake (half term holiday) Staff very helpful when I complained
Review 120:Staff very helpful. Food in restaurant very nice. Spacious room. Convenient location for Stoneleigh. Usually a great hotel
Review 121:Fed up of being single person paying for a double room and getting two single beds pushed together! Bar food not good Ordered newspaper wasn't delivered either day.
Review 122:Location and grounds. Pool and steam room good Staff friendly Breakfast reasonable Good cleanliness
Review 123:little info in rooms re facilities; Too warm and couldnt work out how to turn radiator down.
Review 124:Conference facilities ; availability of Tean and Coffee, Food was excellent. Lovely full size bath.
Review 125:Poor wifi and as a single traveller it's good to have SKY sports, but the Chesford has recently decided to cancel this.
Review 126:Staff and comfort excellent
Review 127:The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful, particularly at reception and in the restaurant. The room we were allocated was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The hotel itself was very well maintained and we made good use of the pool and steam room. The warm loungers in the pool area were very relaxing. I personally would have liked the pool a little warmer particularly after the warm loungers! Our evening meal was delicious and of high standard. Overall this hotel is definitely worth a visit.
Review 128:The swimming pool and spa area were very disappointing. The changing and shower facilities were tired and grubby and not particularly conveniently set out. The pool was too crowded to swim in with more than 3 people in it. This was part of the weekend event for me but was a big let down.
Review 129:A very comfortable stay could have been spoiled by the sheer numbers of people being catered for on the premises for corporate Christmas parties. But it wasn't affected at all. We were treated very well and had a very nice meal in there bar. Staff were attentive and the hotel was very nice and there was no stray noise from the parties going on.
Review 130:The reception staff need to be a bit more friendly, no one asked us if we had enjoyed our stay when we left, and there was confusion when I went to pay.
Review 131:The location is great, and the rooms are lovely
Review 132:The only, very minor, comments I would relate to the size of the pool (as it is quite small) and the Wi-Fi speed. However, for the pool, I appreciated the useful sign letting you know how many lengths you needed to swim to reach a certain distance. A nice touch. Sadly, the Wi-Fi was not able to cope with FaceTime which I use frequently to communicate with my family when I am away.
Review 133:The check in staff, on the reception desk, were very friendly and efficient telling us everything we needed to know to have a great stay. The facilities were good and the rooms and bed very comfortable. I did not use the business centre so cannot comment on this.
Review 134:The bed the wifi signal in our room.
Review 135:The hotel was clean, tidy, and we'll run with a team of staff that worked together. Staff who provided a service. Thanks to housekeeping for returning my coat xx
Review 136:The air conditioning in my room was faulty and therefore the room was far too hot. When I asked about it being reset to cool the room down, I was told 'absolutely no problem'. All that it needed was a reset which could be done from reception apparently and it would be fixed within minutes. Well, this never happened as we were forgotten about. Also my television would not switch off and the signal for it was awful making it hard to bear as a background noise.
Review 137:Beautiful surroundings and gorgeous hotel.
Review 138:Service whether at the bar or restaurant was excellent. In fact could not fault anything about the hotel . Will definatly stay again and reccomend to anyone ..
Review 139:The arrangements and lay out for breakfast made it a bun fight. They need a complete overall. The prices for meals were extortionate. We ate there on first night and it was good but certainly not value for money.
Review 140:The location was fine and grounds nice.
Review 141:broken air conditioning/heating in the room, being told to turn it off and on again to fix it was not really satisfactory especially when five minutes alter it is broken again. I don't mind big hotels, but the signage telling you where things like breakfast are (or even the trek to lifts) are non existent car park is not big enough and you are directed to what I would imagine is a less secure car park 300 yards down the road.
Review 142:friendly and helpful staff
