Reviews for Le Mas du Lac
Review 1:A lack of air conditioning made for an uncomfortably sticky sleep. Lack of mosquito nets resulted in our first bites as we were leaving France. We left early but no coffee or breakfast available. Overall this could be the most amazing place with just a bit more effort.
Review 2:What a wonderful place , so different and historical. Our greeting was fantastic with the most cheery and energetic Bulgarian man and his wife treating us to a variety of different nectars. Rooms were beautiful and individual - a mix of modern and exquisite antiques. Tennis court and swimming pool were also available. The lady owner is a superb little lady with a passion for collecting - in fat the whole place looks as if you are in a film set.
Review 3:It was quite a distance from Uzes, and nothing open locally for dinner. Quite difficult to find. Unable to check in when we arrived and no signs showing you where to go to check in.
Review 4:Beautiful rustic environment, with friendly staff. Not what we had expected, but we really loved this hotel. Lovely grounds and swimming pool. Rooms are very unique and you feel like you are in an old castle.
Review 5:Charming as le Mas du Lac is, it is not easy to find.
Review 6:The building is fascinating, the staff extremely pleasant and the breakfast delicious. Uzes itself is a wonderful destination.
Review 7:Upon approach it looked awful due to the horrible parking area
Review 8:The property and gardens were beautiful. Such a lovely relaxed atmosphere. A inspired and magical place.
Review 9:Door handles tricky and wasps!
Review 10:Helpful friendly staff and unique historic building. Good safety precautions for pool. Breakfast in the garden under the trees with delicious jams and honeys.
Review 11:We parked behind the Mas in a lot that was overgrown and had rubbish from the house. The entrance was hard to find and then you walk in to a courtyard where there is no sign of anybody (we were meant to stand in the street and ring the bell instead of push the blue door open). The garden beds and entrance are very untidy, full of weeds and dusty old things (although interesting). No bedroom fans in the heatwave. I think check in at 5 pm is to allow for a long siesta but then everyone arrives at 5 pm so the host is rushed off her feet. It would also be convenient to have the option to pay by card.
Review 12:The buildings are charming and full of history; the bedroom suite is spacious with thick walls and outlook over the olive grove; the garden is colourful and breakfast under the trees in the morning is very pleasant with delicious home made jam. The host is very friendly and she and her one staff member work very hard when everyone arrives. I think if you knew what to expect, it wouldn't be so surprising when there is no one to greet you and you don't know where reception is. Certainly it was full so many people do like it.
Review 13:Breakfast from 8.30 too late in hot weather. No explanation of facilities on arrival No fan or A/C. No Wifi in room,in loung only.
Review 14:Pretty rural setting. Quiet. Friendly staff. Little kitchen provided for guests.
Review 15:We expected rustic instead the place is just rusty and dusty. The property was built in the 16th century and apparently was not dusted since then. The bedding smelled horrible and the furniture pretends to be antique but really they are just a touch away from getting tetanus. The garden needs work. Breakfast was bad, with homemade jam that was too hard. No toilettries and the owner was rude to us.
Review 16:Nothing
Review 17:nothing
Review 18:the whole environment. The welcome, couldn't have been nicer. Privacy when wanted, help when needed. The size of the rooms. the situation
Review 19:Not a thing.
Review 20:What a find. Wonderful old property, full of character. We were offered the apartment, gorgeous high ceilings, lovely terrace with views. Beautiful bed linen and lots of hot water. Overall a great place to stay for a few days, relaxing and homely.Delicious conserves.Owner is a delight, full of life.
Review 21:First of all, floor in our rooms (we stayed in apartment for 136 Euro per night) had not been swept for a long time. Very dusty. Bathroom was simply dirty: sink, bath and especially WC. It was was smelling terribly. And we could not find any shampoo as well. We could understand such bad service if guests came suddenly, but we booked our hotel 4 Month (minimum) in Advance.
Review 22:funny location)
Review 23:The outskirts was not so nice and it was countryside.
Review 24:Inside the entrance we found a wonderful yard and garden and a Lovely and very helpful hostess. The room was different in a very positive way. Breakfastroom was very familiar and nice. Homemade jams were lovely
Review 25:Breakfast was quite light (croissants & bread with jam/honey and juice/coffee/tea/hot chocolate).
Review 26:Ease of getting to le Pont du Gard Interesting décor (many antiques) Use of small kitchen to make meals Breakfast in the garden Very helpful staff
Review 27:breakfast with homemade jam artistic style and antiques very friendly hosts great nights sleep fantastic surroundings 15th Century farmhouse rooms refreshing swim in pool
Review 28:The Mas du Lac is really characterful - full of beautiful antique furniture, with lovely garden in which you eat breakfast. Corinne and Martine are fantastic hostesses - really kind and full of information about local activities. A really great place! Paul and Adline London August 2014
Review 29:The cat smell was very strong in the living room, making it impossible to sit in certain areas; a large spider had made it's way into our room; the sheets seemed to have sand on them; the shower did not function properly and there was no bathtub. Breakfast could have included an egg; rather than just rolls, juice, and coffee. The price was a little high for the location and the accomodations considering there were no toiletries in the bathroom like most hotels or B & Bs. There was no AC, and didn't feel safe enough to open antique windows.
Review 30:We enjoyed the rustic charm, the gardens, the antiques, the hostesses, and all of the books and information in the living room. We would like to stay there again.
Review 31:A bit dusty (it's the South after all).
Review 32:The "Le Mas du Lac" is hidden off the main road. It is more "rustic" than other B&Bs we've been to. Some of the dust outside makes its way inside with no remedy visible. Yet, the accommodations were very generous for us.We had an entire apartment at our disposal (kitchen included). The hosts were welcoming and provided us with information about the surrounding area, a tour of the property ... A large Carefour is just across the road - very convenient. Breakfast was good - typical for other B&Bs. Great location to drive to Avignon and Nimes etc. Uzes is worth an evening visit - great atmosphere.
Review 33:4 kms outside town. Distinctly rural location. Brekafast entirely bread, would have liked fruit, yogurts, and/or meat.
Review 34:Quirky. Attentive host. Clean. Family friendly. Great get away/chill location.
Review 35:The hostess was wonderful as was the room and the midevil buildings that formed the 15th century compound.
Review 36:Wonderful welcome from Sava, lovely old surroundings, so relaxing.
Review 37:Lovely people
Review 38:The whole experience was good - lovely place, & lovely owner & staff.
Review 39:Not even a fan in sight in the room. Imagine in high summer! And the Mosquitos....
Review 40:Small kitchen was good. Balcony over-looking trees.
Review 41:Very poor external condition and look of property
Review 42:The Hostess was very nice and breakfast was good
Review 43:Old buildings and quiet.
Review 44:Lovely place and sorroundings. This is the place to stay if you would like to be in peace and very well treaded. Go here!
Review 45:Nothing to dislike
Review 46:Huge rooms with interesting furnishings. Helpful hostess
Review 47:Everything
Review 48:Garden could have been tidier and the breakfast was average.
Review 49:Beautiful relaxed atmosphere and lovely quirky but comfortable rooms. Very friendly people.
Review 50:Not much. the grounds could do with a little extra attention but otherwise enjoyable.
Review 51:A different and relaxed experience. Plenty of art and homely comforts.
Review 52:Nothing - we loved everything.
Review 53:Spacious and well presented family suite with private terrace; Large grounds with olive trees, jasmine and other beautiful plants - great for the kids to explore; Charming house with a perfect combination of period and modern interiors; Swimming pool; Delicious, simple breakfast in the lovely garden; Great hosts, friendly and laid back.
Review 54:It didn't bother me but my boyfriend did miss a radio or tv in the room- I didn't!! Breakfast is continental and didn't have any hot food, this was fine for us, although some people may have wanted cereal or some toast. The homemade jams were beautiful though and everything was very French and welcomingz
Review 55:It was a fantastic quaint b&b with a lovely friendly host. About a 40mins walk outside of town which is a lovely town. The room had loads of space and was very peaceful.
Review 56:Loved the atmosphere, the garden, the breakfast, our room and the general vibe of the place!!The minute we arrived, we started planning to come back:)
Review 57:I liked everything, but you should be aware of what you are booking. Definitely not a typical hotel ;-)
Review 58:Very authentic Provence like mansion, less a hôtel. Got upgrade to family suite since it was free - very nice staff! I would have booked even longer if we could have. Definitely noted for another stay
Review 59:Beautiful country house dated XVI century just a short drive away from the small town of Uzes. Large rooms and bathroom decorated with style, large common area where guest can relax and enjoy an amazing breakfast made of local products such as jam, croissants and fresh bread, tea, coffee and juices There's a nice garden surrounding the property and a swimming pool available in the warm season. The staff is very friendly, welcoming and helpful. I would definitely reccomend this place for your stay in that area of South of France.
Review 60:Difficult the only thing was that our room neighbours made a lot of noise all night long .... ?
Review 61:We liked everything specially the kindness of the staff and the lovely restaurated mas.
Review 62:That we could not stay at least a couple more days
Review 63:It is as authentic a property as you will find in Languedoc. Like theMas, Corinne, who manages the property, is totally without pretension.Despite the fact that it dates back to the 16th century, it iscompletely comfortable for today without destroying its unique charm(E.G. wifi, massive bathrooms, etc.) If you're looking for a placethat could be anywhere, Mas du Lac is not for you. It could only be inthe South of France, overlooking the olive groves. As a bonus it isliterally a 5 minute drive from Uzes, which is one of our favorite townsin all of France. If you're looking for a real French oasis, Mas duLac is it!PS The homemade apricot and fig preserves served at breakfast are a-m-a-z-i-n-g...
Review 64:Rustic charm is what I sought and I found it here within the walledenclosure of this old farmhouse. The room and bathroom was lovely but itwas the grounds that created such a peaceful and romantic atmosphere. There is a very comfortable communal room with a large table ideal fortaking in a bottle of wine and joining other guests. All the otherguests were French and their welcome led to a memorable and entertainingevening. Re local restaurants don't hesitate to seek the advice ofthe hosts.
Review 65:Le Mas du Lac is a charming renovation of the original farmhouse withcomfortable rooms and suitably sympathetic furnishings. The breakfastwas a nice selection of breads, pastries, local honeys and homemadejams, all served in a very pleasant room. The staff were very friendlyand helpful and coped readily with our limited French. If we were in theUzes area again we would happily stay here again.
Review 66:The whole experience was great.
Review 67:We spent one night in this gorgeous spot in the country and it was fabulous, we arrived late to be greeted very warmly and given all the info we needed about the local area and planning for our trip. The hotel is beautifully decorated and in a peacful rural area. Breakfast was simple and delicous in a lovely setting. We left feeling relaxed and happy. This is a great experience of a small French hotel with a very personal experience.
Review 68:It is a fabulous location, quiet, quaint, a little paradise which I would be very happy to visit again. A perfect place to resource yourself
Review 69:leaving
Review 70:Not a thing
Review 71:corinne was great! Rustic ambiance. staff! breakfast!
