Reviews for Stars Bordeaux Gare

Review 1:Room was scruffy and unkempt. Part of the 'desk' was broken, corridors were smelly. Lift had graffiti, Probably one of the worst 'hotels' I've stayed in.

Review 2:Location is okay.

Review 3:The hotel is shabby, the rooms are not soundproof. It's near the station and next to a tram stop but it's not a very nice part of Bordeaux. WiFi doesn't work in the rooms. The TV didn't work in my room. Bed was not very comfortable. There is little to recommend this hotel.

Review 4:Nothing much.

Review 5:Wi-fi is only available in the lobby

Review 6:Location (close to both train station and downtown, in front of a tramway station), Staff, HD TV ( & Canal +), Cleanliness, Comfy bed

Review 7:Peeling wallpaper, confusion over whether we had paid the hotel tax (we did), some tram noise.

Review 8:Location close to the rail station, on tram line C and close to bus line #1 from airport. Good value.

Review 9:bathroom facilities disappointing (shower runs off sink taps, so impossible to close shower curtain)

Review 10:Convenient to the mainline station Excellent breakfast

Review 11:Wifi only in lobby. Small cramped bathroom. Very dated.

Review 12:Close to st jean gare for late night check in. Good tram link or 20min walk to centre. Wasnt expecting much due to prev reviews but it wasny awful. 1 or 2 night max stay.

Review 13:Room was old. Didn't feel overly clean. Had overpoweringly strong air freshener smell. Bed was uncomfortable. Moved mattress to find that slats were missing from the bed. Expensive for what is offered - previously been staying in backpacker hostels and they look like 5 star hotels compared to this place.

Review 14:Short walk from the train station.

Review 15:Very small room in need of some refurbishment. No WiFi in room, only in lobby.Tram runs frequently from 4.30 till midnight, very noisy if you want to sleep with an open window.

Review 16:Central location, steps from train/bus station (bus #1 from airport), tram C directly outside hotel. Overall friendly, English speaking staff. We booked early and got a good rate, the walk-up rate is too high for what you get.

Review 17:We did have the cheapest room, which was our choice, but it smelt of cigarette smoke in the fixtures and we had to have the window open which let in the music of the nearby clubs from the early hours until 7am

Review 18:The staff, the hotel and the breakfast were all brilliant

Review 19:The front was not manned and if you rung the bell the staff made you feel like you were disrupting them

Review 20:Very close to the train station, also with good access to the tram and even walking is an option for sightseeing

Review 21:The reception staff is very kind and helpful. Rooms are clean even if the furnitures are a bit old fashioned. Good location : 10 min walk from the railway station, a tram stop Line C in front of the Hotel.

Review 22:Even though I appreciared the fact that the rate was quite cheap I still thought even if the facilities were not there it would have a reasonable level of cleanliness, not so, felt quite uncomfortable. Also, the bathroom which was a cubicle in the bedroom was missing. Door. Quite embarrassing if you are sharing the room.

Review 23:Close to railway station

Review 24:The rooms are claustrophobic and there was smelly mouldy carpeting in the room. Housekeeping is minimal, the carpeting does not get vacuumed. The bathrooms are strange contraptions. The lobby is singularly ugly and they are stingy with giving out ice cubes.

Review 25:Everything else wAs very poor. Hotel was very run down . Horrible rooms. We paid 90 euro for a terrible room with 3 single beds . They didn't have a double bed as requested . Bathroom small and waster leaked everywhere . Carpets were stained .

Review 26:Breakfast was pretty good

Review 27:Bathroom - very very small - reminded us of been on a boat . Almost impossible to not en. Up with water on the floor . Place in need of freshening up .

Review 28:Location

Review 29:Room wasnt the biggest and diffo needs decorated. But it was value for what I paid.

Review 30:Staff where friendly and location is great. Close to st jean train station and a tram stop right outside.

Review 31:Small room and bathroom which were ok but in need of need of total redecoration. Noisy at night with tram station outside. Could have been a bit more choice at breakfast.

Review 32:Good location near to Rail Station. English speaking. Clean towels daily and (needed to take care as) very hot water.

Review 33:The room isnt worth the money. The wall paper in the room was falling of, the toilet and shower were dirty. We were in the first floor and our window view was a bunch of beer cans scattered around. Also the wifi only works in the lobby. There's a phone in the room but it doesn't work.

Review 34:The tram is right in front of the hotel which makes transportation really easy.

Review 35:The bed was terrible, the room was small, there was no wifi in the room, the sheets weren't properely clean, the shower wasn't attached to the wall and just attached to the taps in the bathroom, there was no kettle in the room, there was one plug, how it had gotten a second star was beyond me.

Review 36:it was close to the train station

Review 37:all bad

Review 38:This location can not be classified as a hotel. The rooms are are poor without adequate ventilation, damaged furniture, damaged walls, horrible bathroom. Bad tempered and rude staff. They would not accept my payment in cash with notes of hundred euros. I think it should be excluded from the Booking. I classify this place as the worst accommodation I have ever stayed in my life. zero Note

Review 39:The rooms were super small, the little flimsy slat beds collapsed repeatedly, the neighborhood was shady and right next to the red light district. I definitely won't be staying here again.

Review 40:It was relatively cheap.

Review 41:It is a budget hotel, if you don't like noise ( tram stop in front of the hotel ) don't stay here or maybe ask for a quiet. Very small rooms, but if you are not fussy and you only sleep there it is fit for purpose.

Review 42:Close to the station, the tram line is in front of the hotel!

Review 43:It was a little noisy but this was only from the tram which passes the hotel.

Review 44:A clean and basic hotel near the train station. Very close to the tram too so you can travel easily around Bordeaux.

Review 45:the staff when we first arrived after a long trip didnt even greet us on arrival,it was 20 minutes before they spoke to us as they were busy talking. our room was right above the automatic steel gates for the under ground parking and was loud opening and closing throughout the night. no flush handle on toilet.

Review 46:cleaners and dining room staff very pleasant . tram stop right out side

Review 47:The bathroom was tiny, the shower was connected to the bathroom's sink; never seen anything like that before. The room needs more power outlets, they only had 1, but it was broken. Wifi being only available in the lobby is a joke, it is not a hostel!

Review 48:Great location 5 mins from the central strain station, helpful staff, fairly clean rooms.

Review 49:We arrived really late and there staff there no problem. Not the fanciest hotel ever but close the the station and clean. Bed day comfortable. Good all in all.

Review 50:Hotel was in a good location a basic hotel good value for money. Tram stop at doorstep. Bus and train are a block away. Not far from the main attractions.

Review 51:Even though it was cheap rates a bit of TLC wouldn't go a miss as our room had wall paper peeling off and to flush the toilet you had to use the workings of the systern

Review 52:Secure parking

Review 53:# No hot water and no change of room offered. We were told if you want a shower you will need to go across the hall. # Room like an oven, however there was a fan. # very rough area of bordeaux, awoken by fighting outside # wall paper hanging off wall

Review 54:The price! It worked out about £27 per night. But you get what you pay for

Review 55:Room is really small. Bathroom is like a prefab and small. And the shower is extremly unconfortable. The water comes from lavatory, shower curtain is dirty and shower area is really small. Wifi is available only in the entrance, no wifi in rooms. No aircondition, only a vane. Only one plug in room; you may use it for the vane or you can die cause of the heat to charge your phone/laptop/camera...

Review 56:Tram station just a few meters away. The male and old receptionist is really kind and helpful, but he don't have enough possibilities...

Review 57:Horrible mattress and no air con. Tiny rooms and bathrooms. Too close to the tram so noise was an issue.

Review 58:Location in good if your need to take the train to go somewhere. Just 5 min walking to the train station and 20min walking from city center.

Review 59:Basic room, wifi only in lobby

Review 60:Directly by the tram station (less than 10 minutes to the city centre), 5 minutes on foot from the railway station, helpful staff, fair price

Review 61:It's very run down and in urgent need of refurbishment. Bed was brick hard and we both had a very uncomfortable night. The toilet is a plastic self contained unit like the hotel in need of updating. The area is a bit unpleasant but handy for the station which had some good restaurants but a bit far from the town centre. The walk to the town centre took you to very run down areas which should be avoided use the tram!!

Review 62:Breakfast was good and underground parking.

Review 63:Bedroom a little bit down at heel (wallpaper was peeling), though entirely adequate for my purposes.

Review 64:This made a handy place to spend a night after arriving late in Bordeaux and before travelling on early the following morning. 5mins walk from the main station and next to a tram stop.

Review 65:Bad bathroom and the WiFi is only available at the lobby. Far from the city centre.

Review 66:Nice budget room, good for short stays. Close to the train station.

Review 67:My floor didn't have lights on, so pretty eerie! The bed was a rock. And Internet makes it seem like there's wifi in the whole hotel, but it's only in the lobby! Sucks.

Review 68:The lady at the front desk was helpful and pleasant!m

Review 69:No outside telephone connection in room.

Review 70:This is basic but value for money. Three minutes walk to train station, next to tramway for easy access to town centre. Good breakfast.

Review 71:It was not possible to open the window... The street was a bit noisy during the night.

Review 72:Very welcoming and English speaking reception. It is near the train station - very comfortable when you travel by train. Everything was clean.

Review 73:Way overpriced.Hotel full- I obviously got the last room. Noisy, poky; smelled of cigarette smoke.Limited hotel facilities. Broken lock on door meant getting staff to unlock -which took forever and many keys-each time to enter room ! I was made to feel by the older owner as if I was at fault "You just have to be gentle with it, jiggle it" ! The poor staff member who repeatedly had to help was embarrassed at the lock disrepair, advised me to wait for management, who never came. I wasn't sure if I was to move rooms;after quite a wait, asked if I could at least use the room to shower. More embarrassment.Decided not to go out as was over the hassle of having to ask to be let in each time.Found a much nicer, cheaper hotel around the corner the next day!

Review 74:near station one staff member quite helpful. newish bathroom.

Review 75:very small room with very small bed and not comfortable at all. very small shower! and not comfortable. not so good location/

Review 76:nice staff. book only I you cant pay more for batter hotel.

Review 77:Bed pretty tough. No wifi but on the ground floor. No possibility to charge your phone/computer in the room (I did deconnect the TV very high up the ceiling - to find a charging possibility.). WC without water!

Review 78:5 min from TGV terminal. Rooms to the back pretty quiet. Cheap.

Review 79:The first time I stayed here, the flush on my loo was broken, and the second time, one of the lights in my room didn't work. The staff were really helpful both times though, and I think the important thing in a cheap hotel is that it's warm, comfy and clean- which this one definitely is!

Review 80:I've stayed here twice, and both times, the staff were really friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable, with a TV, towels and shampoo, which I hadn't expected for the price. 5 mins walk from the station, right opposite a tram stop, free wifi on the ground floor- I really can't recommend it enough!! As long as you don't expect to get anything more than a no-frills budget hotel, this does the job brilliantly.

Review 81:There was no wifi in the room olny accessable on the grond floor. The room is small. 屋里没有无线网,只有一层才有。房间比较小。

Review 82:Loacation and price are Ok. The room is clean.

Review 83:Slow, bored receptionist. WiFi not available in room. Room was cold. Damage to walls and doors. Apparently no manager.

Review 84:Breakfast. Availability of parking Clean linen. Hot water.

Review 85:Quick,efficient reception, room could have been larger but so tired we did"nt care.Breakfast really good value. Hotel entrance is one tram stop from the station so if you have a lot of luggage its really handy

Review 86:I had a large amount of money disappear from my locked suitcase. It appeared to me to be a very clean neat job, with combination lock undamaged/restored. Management were disinterested in my plight which was extraordinarily disappointing. I had already booked/paid for further nights so had no choice but to continue in a place where I felt most uncomfortable.

Review 87:Bed and bedding basic shoddy Bathroom super small incl loo Shower fitting plumbed to sink shower so curtain didn't fit recess but hung over the shower fitting so waterlogged bathroom Carpet dirty and stained

Review 88:The location The lift

Review 89:Filthy Cold Noise Poor breakfeast No Wi-Fi in the rooms The room was very small The bathroom was awfull No view

Review 90:Close to the train station Close to the Tram

Review 91:Internet connection supposed to ve in the lobby, but there was none. The receptionist was not helpful, she blamed it on my iPad. I went to the apple store and my iPad joined automaticaly and immediately the network. Next day instead of calling the Internet provider, the receptionist doubted my word when I said that my iPad worked just fine at the apple store.

Review 92:Good location

Review 93:1 hour of free wifi but my room not really covered unsatisfying breakfast sanitary in poor conditions (WC leaking)

Review 94:tram stop just in front of the hotel (direct connection to train station and downtown)

Review 95:my internet good price was impossible to have the room for the same price for an additional night. I had no chance to book on internet again.

Review 96:tgv arrives at 1pm with 3 hours delay. I called before and the receptionist said frendly: Pas de probleme monsieur...

Review 97:Old property not recently renovated. Free wifi, but really only in lobby and some rooms near ground floor.

Review 98:Location. Has underground parking for €7/day. No-nonsense. Price is right. Clean in general.

Review 99:Cramped rooms General "tiredness" of decor No door on toilet in one room No hot drinks available at bar or reception, despite it being advertised.

Review 100:Convenient position with parking and tram stop outside hotel. Friendly staff on Reception.

Review 101:Lighting in reception area could be brighter.

Review 102:I like everything about this hotel. It is extremely convenient for the station for my forward journey to Arcachon. (Mother and son). Last year when I arrived at the wrong Star Hotel at 11pm. they kindly let me stay free of charge.....hence I will always recommend this hotel.

Review 103:Quirky shower hose connects to wash hand basin? No Kettle available and clean in the room so took my own travel kettle.

Review 104:Brilliantly close to Gare St Jean Main Railway Station. Inexpensive via booking.com. (NB: Order breakfast when booking or pay more at hotel) Clean bedding and towels every day. Close to trams. Frequent easy to use and inexpensive tram system on the door step, Quiet rooms are at the back away from road. English speaking.

Review 105:Very dirty, cold and noisy. Hotel is situated next to tramway, windows aren't seald! Electric heating was down! Breakfast is not worth the price.

Review 106:3km to the old town.

Review 107:Outdated and badly stained decor... This is a very basic and bare bones hotel... You certainly get what you pay for (by Bordeaux standards)... It is adequate for a couple nights stay but don't be expecting much...

Review 108:Location, Price (cheap by Bordeaux standards but Bordeaux is overpriced)

Review 109:The bedding consisted of 1 thin blanket on the bed and no extra's in the cupboard. Needless to say for November it was a cold night! Everything about the place was below standard. I've stayed in backpacker accommodation (supposedly cheap accom) that leaves this place for dead. I'm not a "princess" but this place was below standard - well below.

Review 110:The staff were friendly and helpful. No complaints on the efforts of the staff. Thank you.

Review 111:Very tiny rooms, no space to just chill out, cheap furniture (if any) and pretty old decor.

Review 112:Awesome location for transport – Tauzia tram stops right outside the front door, the main train station is 2 mins down the road.

Review 113:Twice I requested a wake up call to catch a train the first time and to catch a plane the second time. Neither they were able to fulfil. The manager wrote it in a huge diary. The guy on reception next morning could only look at me with vacant eyes. Also, twice I was addressed as 'heh or hoy '.

Review 114:A woman staff was not friendly asking euro for hot water . Hotel charge two euros for a bottle of water which is only 23 cents in shop . Wifi is only in lounge

Review 115:It is quiet

Review 116:No wifi connection at all, i had to pay to print my boarding pass, really thin walls

Review 117:No wireless in the room. Has wireless only in the comman area reception floor.

Review 118:Great location. Close to train station and tram going to the city center.

Review 119:My room overlooked the street. I got used to the noise of the trams but the late night partiers and the early morning workers etc were exceedingly noisy. I woke up often. A room at the back might have been bettern however, I recommend bringing earplugs.

Review 120:The area is not the best but I did not feel unsafe. The hotel is handy to the train station and to the centre of town. It is older and a little worn but clean. The staff members were nice.

Review 121:The showerhead does not stay up, you must hold it to take a shower. The room quite hot makes sleeping difficult.

Review 122:Has an elevator. Close to train station and tram station.

Review 123:Cheapest rate near the train station through booking.com.

Review 124:I felt that this hotel needs refurbishment. Internet should be in the rooms. The shower facility was shocking.

Review 125:The location is not wow but it is just short walk from the train station and in front of the hotel is the tram stop.

Review 126:Wi-fi for only one hour then it was necessary to pay. These days a necessity like this, if it's offered, should be available all the time and included in the price of the room

Review 127:Reasonably comfortable. AC nice especially to cover noise outside at night. Good value for the money. Staff was willing to offer a reduced price breakfast since we only wanted coffee and croissant.

Review 128:Ghetto. Men whistling constantly in this end of the city. The staff didn't even help with bags even tho they were two metres away from us struggling up the stairs. Bathroom is a pod so everything is wet whilst showering. Wallpaper ripped and a strange smell in the halls

Review 129:It was very close to the train station and 15 minute walk to city centre

Review 130:The poor décor of the room. Wallpaper was peeling and the carpet was stained. The shower was plumbed into the sink taps which meant you couldn't pull the curtain fully across. Result - soaking wet bathroom floor. I gave up in the end and just had a strip wash. (not easy as there was no sink plug).

Review 131:The location was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 132:This hotel should not have any stars. It was equivalent to a dormitory. The room was so small that you would have to go out in the (dark) hallway to take a deep breath. It's OK if you get in very late to the train station and are leaving very early the next morning and just need a soft spot to pass out, but beyond that bare minimum, it offers nothing.

Review 133:The room was very clean when I arrived and was cleaned everyday. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke English. The room was very small but fine for a solo traveller. The lift was modern and there were only a few steps at the front entrance if you have heavy luggage.

Review 134:The bedroom smelled of smoke even though it was described as a non smoker room, the remote control didn't work if not in very close range of the TV and the wall paper was falling off in some places as well as looking dirty.

Review 135:Great location for a one night-stop over, friendly staff, good value for money.

Review 136:the fact that i left a plastic shopping bag at the counter containing a pair of men pants and 2 scarfs. phoned 1 day later and was told that it was considered as "unknown luggage" and put in the bin . !!!!!

Review 137:the politeness of the staff, the distance from the train station and the tram stop just in front of the hotel.

Review 138:Twin room (no. 203) a real let down, especially as booked for a birthday visit. Dirty room. Stained walls and carpet, no air conditioner but had a fan plugged into the only socket available. Cigarette burns in shower/toilet room. Shower hose attached to washbasin taps so you have to reach through dirty shower curtain to switch water on and adjust temperature. Shower head leaks, spraying floor. No bar on toilet roll holder, so toilet rolls on shelf behind. Little things like this should be replaced or repaired. View outside window of first floor roof, covered in weeds and broken bottles and rubbish. This is not up to usual Ibis standard, not good for their reputation.

Review 139:Location of hotel close to Centre Ville and tram line outside. Underground Parking available. Helpful, friendly staff at reception.
