Reviews for Greystones B&B
Review 1:The atmosphere is familiar and you feel immediatly at home, the rooms are comfy and there is everything you could need. The location is central and close to the paths.
Review 2:Nothing really, - apart from the resident cockerel deciding that 6am (in midwinter, in the Highlands) represented sunrise and was therefore time to start crowing...
Review 3:Location; characterful old Highland house in great position at top of the village; friendliness of hosts; open fire in residents lounge
Review 4:The attention to detail is impeccable from the decor to the furniture, my bed had been hand crafted by the proprietor Mark! Fresh eggs from their chickens poached to perfection for breakfast...Delightful.
Review 5:No complaints.
Review 6:The atmosphere of the place was amazing. Money can't buy such an atmosphere. The location was also very good. Overall, can't fault anything about the place.
Review 7:No walk in shower on the ground floor.
Review 8:Everything our friends with mobility issues needed was on the ground floor. Great common room for mingling with the other guests.
Review 9:Due to the fact that I was not driving the walk from the village centre was all up hill. However it was good exercise.
Review 10:Wonderful hostess/owner Pleasant quiet location Amazing community /common room Great selection for breakfast at a reasonable cost
Review 11:Breakfast was lovely but I would have expected telling if it wasn't going to be a full English (it was salmon and scrambled eggs). I also had to ask for coffee rather than it being offered. For £80 I expect things to be spot on.
Review 12:The bed was comfy and the lady was relaxed about the dog being around. The view was lovely and the red squirrels and hens were a lovely sight.
Review 13:Four poster bed; excellent breakfast... siskins and red squirrels in the garden; excellent quiet location for travelling around and hiking in the north Cairngorms area.
Review 14:Wifi not so good in my room but good in the lounge. No sink in the room. i.e. shared bathroom facilities
Review 15:Comfy bed, free wifi, Fresh milk for coffee in the lounge. Very good price. Lovely fresh eggs with breakfast.
Review 16:Breakfast was expensive for what it was and was an extra payment .Shared bathroom .Fewer ornaments and memorabilia would make it feel fresher.
Review 17:Friendly & welcoming hosts. House of character
Review 18:We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Greystanes, even more so when we realised that it had been featured in an episode of Monarch of the Glen. The room was spacious & comfortable, and the house is beautifully decorated & maintained. The hosts were charming & helpful to 2 Aussie tourists visiting the area for the first time. Would love to visit again.
Review 19:The house has so much character, with lots of interesting books, pieces of furniture, ceramics etc. it feels really cosy and it's really comfortable
Review 20:No mention that rooms are NOT en-suite on the website or that it is a 20 minute steep uphill walk or more from town centre
Review 21:Bedrooms, cleanliness & breakfast excellent
Review 22:Beautiful Location, lots of extra treats and comforts in the lounging room. selection of teas, fresh fruit, milk, fire place, countless local history and sightseeing library. Good starting point for many good hikes.
Review 23:Noisy rooster outside window, towels rough as sandpaper, bed linen well used, bed way too noisy for snuggling (the owner is a furniture maker - so really shouldn't be an issue). Breakfast too expensive, no clue as to content before booking. Will try somewhere else next time. Too many auto emails from establishment asking for feedback, surveys, arrival time... they only have four rooms!
Review 24:No complaints, was an acceptable stay.
Review 25:We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Greystones B&B. We were made to feel extremely comfortable by our hosts, the bedroom was lovely and clean and the living room with an open fire was very welcome on the cold autumnal nights. We have already booked our return!
Review 26:Personally I like en suite bathrooms (which would be absolutely impossible to do there) but, the bathrooms were very nice and large and I never actually had a problem with these ones not being en suite.
Review 27:I have not slept better in such a long time (a sentiment shared by a couple of other guests staying there). I found it fairly easy to get to on foot from the train station (despite being a bit nervous about it before I got there - ie apple maps misled me to the difficulty). The owners, Anne and Mark, were incredibly kind and warm people and really made the atmosphere itself just that much more comfortable, cozy, and relaxing. I don't think I am adequately explaining how much I loved this place or its great aspects but, it was absolutely one of my trip's highlights.
Review 28:Nothing really to dislike, shower a little small.
Review 29:The hotel is in a very peaceful location, room was a good size and spotless. Friendly staff and a great breakfast. An easy walk to the village.
Review 30:We had the room by the toilets which was beautiful and very comfy but on our particular night I think every other resident must have got up once if not twice to pay a visit. Unfortunately this woke us every time.
Review 31:Everything except noise
Review 32:Seemed quite dated Not my style, I enjoy a more modern, clean-lines design
Review 33:Location was lovely, nice view and lots of nature Easy walk into town Clean
Review 34:The operation of the downstairs tub/shower. Mr. Johnstone's going off, late the second night, on a tirade on power, banks, Americans, the referendum, and education.
Review 35:Mrs. Johnstone was very helpful in settling us in and giving us good recommendations for dinner. Mr. Johnstone was very informative about the place itself and his family history. The house had wonderful watercolors and maps on the walls and was full of interesting knick-knacks. Delightfully eclectic!
Review 36:Guest facilities were very close to those of the owners including sharing a bathroom.
Review 37:Owners were very helpful - provided a taxi service for us to the local pub as taxis were no longer operating in the area. Very authentic feel about the whole experience.
Review 38:An en suite would have been nice , though the bathrooms were perfectly adequate.
Review 39:Residents lounge with open fire Pleasant and helpful hosts Comfy bed, duvet and pillows !
