Against the stunning backdrop of Skiddaw and the Uldale Fells, this 18th-century country house is set within 18 acres of beautiful gardens and woodland. The restaurant boasts 2 AA rosettes, and guests can spot resident red squirrels, deer, and rabbits in the extensive grounds.
Double-ended baths and separate showers fill each en suite bathroom in Overwater’s elegant rooms, along with fluffy bathrobes and designer toiletries. You can relax with fresh fruit and flowers, free mineral water, and free Wi-Fi access.
Full English breakfasts are served each morning in the restaurant. Guests can also enjoy morning coffee and award-winning evening cuisine in a formal setting.
Bassenthwaite Lake and Trotters World of Animals are both only a 5-minute drive away and scenic walks amongst the fells can be had in the lush, surrounding Lakeland. Nearby Keswick has a range of independent shops and a theatre by the lake.

Reviews for Overwater Hall

Review 1:Absolutely nothing.

Review 2:Went away for my girlfriends 20th. Couldn't have asked for a better place to get away from the world for a couple of days. As a couple of 'foodies' everything prepared from the kitchen was faultless.

Review 3:Wonderful food, friendly and professional staff and impeccable service. A very high standard and quality of accommodation, comfort and customer service - A REAL GEM!

Review 7:All aspects were excellent, wish we could have stayed longer. Our hosts and staff were fantastic. Excellent food. Nice and peacefull location - great for relaxing.

Review 8:Only that the WiFi had poor reception, and this is a very minor point considering where you are. We will definitely go again.

Review 9:Location, staff, food and room. All the things you consider when you book. The staff where lovely and very helpful when we came back from a muddy, wet short walk. Evening meal was very good and the room was stunning.

Review 10:The shower in the room could have been a bit warmer. The fresh fruit was not fresh. The menu could have been more varied, due to non fish eaters.

Review 11:Being greeted outside was nice. Great hospitality! The food was amazing. The sloe gin, fresh flowers and the shortbread was a very nice personal touch.

Review 12:Outstanding dinner and breakfast, very comfortable room, attentive and friendly staff, superb location away from the tourist haunts.

Review 13:Nothing

Review 14:Staff helpful and friendly. Restaurant food was excellent, high quality chef

Review 15:Service was outstanding, red squirrels included

Review 16:The setting is beautiful and it is so peaceful. Best of all no mobile signal!

Review 17:The unfussy attention to detail was very welcome. Hospitality at its best

Review 18:That the hot water repeatedly became cold veryquickly. Especially in the morning. The showers did not have this problem.

Review 19:The quality of the food

Review 20:There is nothing remotely negative to say about this place, every detail is attended to and the food is exquisite.

Review 21:Everything - it is a hidden gem

Review 22:Too quiet in restaurant, needed soft back ground music so didn't need to whisper.

Review 23:The peaceful beauty.

Review 24:Luxury in a relaxed atmosphere. Just the little touches like filter coffee in your room and a night cap available for free in your room

Review 32:Nothing!

Review 33:Beautifully cooked and presented dinner.

Review 34:There are no words to describe this hotel and staff, speechless every time!!

Review 35:The attention to detail: homemade shortbread, liqueur, dog treats for our puppy! Lovely room and fabulous bath. Breakfast and the beautiful grounds, perfect for dog walking.

Review 36:We enjoyed our two nights stay immensely and would happily return. We stayed in Room 7 which I believe is the smallest double room in the hotel but it was very spacious and comfortable for us - with a large separate bathroom and separate dressing area. We were extremely happy with our room, the hotel, the food and the views. The hotel itself is very tastefully decorated and the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating.

Review 37:perhaps a bit pricey

Review 38:staff very friendly and attentive, rooms very comfortable and well equipped, lovely location, loved the red squirrels and wildlife just outside the window.

Review 39:Exterior of hotel in need of fresh paint. Carpets heavy with overbearing pattern and a mismatch with wallpaper. Single room sold as double room exceedingly small for two people and a dog and overpriced. Definition of room was garden view but overlooked kitchen and unpleasant smell from extractor fan was continually present when in operation Kettle unusable but was kindly replaced by Stephen with a new one. Disappointing value for money. Fruit in bedroom apricot and peach mouldy. Breakfast--adequate but portion control very much in evidence.

Review 40:Dog friendly and Stephen amiable and helpful.

Review 41:Nothing. It was all good. But, question 2 does not appear properly on an iPhone and so I cannot apply ratings.

Review 42:The friendly staff and atmosphere and food.

Review 43:Could find no faults at all.

Review 44:Everything. Friendly/helpful/attentive staff, but not invasive. Restaurant service and meals delicious, with world class presentation and menu. Area picturesque, and lots of places to go for photos etc.

Review 45:None.

Review 46:Everything was perfect. Great friendly and attentive service. Great chef with fantastic breakfast and dinners as well. Beautiful settings and away from the crowds. A perfect get away. I can't wait to visit again.

Review 47:Nothing.

Review 48:Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Food was outstanding and rivals and exceeds Michelin starred restaurants. Delightful views. Restful public rooms. Great attention to detail fully warrants the many accolades it has received.

Review 49:Nothing to improve

Review 50:Superb welcome and service Food was wonderful and plentiful Surrounding land well designed and interesting for wildlife Rooms very comfortable and relaxing

Review 51:Nothing I didn't like

Review 52:Wonderful hospitality. Very comfortable and the evening meal and breakfast were outstanding . Fantastic that this immaculate hotel accepts pets and was great to explore the wonderful gardens and see red squirrels galore.
