Reviews for Premier Inn Solihull Town Centre
Review 1:Allocated a room 417 which hadn't been cleaned - I.e. Dirty linen and, towels.Very poor and carefree. Was transferred to room 415 after complaining that the room hadn't been done.
Review 2:Staff not as welcoming as other Premier Inns and hovered over us when we checked in in the machines which was unsettling. Staff in bar not very friendly. Breakfast manager was very nice but coffee machine did not work.
Review 3:Location and wifi
Review 4:Christmas Day & Boxing Day (2/5 days of our stay) no cleaning or replenishing service.. But more distressing - The exhaust fan didn't switch off (sounds like an air raid siren) unless you open the circuit box and disconnected your room each time you switched the bathroom light on!!
Review 5:My only criticism was that the hotel was understaffed but that is not really surprising, given that it was Christmas Day. The staff who were there were working really hard and trying their best to make it a good experience for everyone. It did mean however that there was a little bit of a wait for certain breakfast items. Also, there weren't a few of the advertised items for the continental breakfast such as bananas, pains aux chocolats which was a shame.
Review 6:I thought the premier inn in Solihull was clean, convenient and delivered what was promised. It was a comfy bed, sparkling clean bathroom, the t.v. worked, there were fluffy white towels and free wifi. I just needed a comfy bed and good washing facilities close to where my Solihull family live as there wasn't room to sleep there at Christmas and that is exactly what I got so very satisfied.
Review 7:It was nearly impossible to get a staff member to answer the phone. Most of the time there was no one available to assist one. Several unpleasant experiences w/staff and incompetence.
Review 8:and room confort. The location, cleanliness
Review 9:There was no hotel guest parking so had to use a public parking bay and had a parking ticket in the morning. Also, I had my daughter and a friend with me and we found the room too hot to sleep in comfortably.
Review 10:Close proximity to NEC
Review 11:My colleague warned me that the dinner will take ages to come out so order quickly (as I was 30 minutes later arriving). She was right! It took its time and was cold on arrival. This is not what I have usually experienced from a Premier Inn. Also the way the building is designed meant that you can access the stairs to the rooms from the outside without walking through reception. This meant that a prostitute could proposition me which made me feel uncomfortable.
Review 12:As usual with a Premier Inn the rooms are comfortable The receptionist was nice and helpful.
Review 13:One complaint we were in a room suitable for disabled which didn't bother us but the two mornings having a shower the water was running out the bathroom door after that you couldn't really access the bathroom lucky we were out all Saturday and left early sunday morning.
Review 14:its location easy drive to nec and close to shops and restaurants.
Review 15:The bathroom extract fan hums constantly. I have very sensitive hearing, so I appreciate it might not bother most people, but I could hear it all night long-even with ear plugs in?
Review 16:Very close to shops and restaurants. Very comfortable bed.
Review 17:The Staff were brilliant, cheerful, friendly and nothing too much trouble. I mentioned that I found the bed too hard, and was told should have contacted reception and they would have put a topper on it for me.
Review 18:No hotel parking and the parking next to the hotel was really expensive during the day.
Review 19:It was clean and the staff were very helpful! The bed was extremely comfortable.
Review 20:the air freshener or whatever it is in the room was very overpowering and the windows do not open. the bedroom was dusty but the bathroom was spotless. there was some traffic noise with it being on the main road
Review 21:good location for what I needed and the staff were helpfull
Review 22:Parking is limited and I've now had 2 parking tickets in the Lode Lane carpark because you can only book to 10.00am the next day.
Review 23:Excellent location, handy to check in and lovely staff.
Review 24:The staff in the restaurant were useless. They clearly saw that juice had been spilled on the floor and did nothing about it, happy to watch customers stepping in it. Also the parking facilities were poor.
Review 25:The rooms were comfortable and quiet
Review 26:Woken at 3am by family walking past, children very loud!
Review 27:Very accommodating staff, bed soon comfortable. Clean, tidy, everything you need after a journey full of delays and diversions. Well done!
Review 28:Perfect for a short stay. Within walking distance of Touchwood and restaurants. Excellent choice and quality of food for breakfast. Quick and easy check-in at machine. Family room big enough for 2 extra beds. Comfy pillows and mattresses.
Review 29:The parking arrangement at the nearby garage causes problems. Dont think the tariff unreasonable but one has to be vigilant not to let your ticket expire which is a nuisance when it expires at 10am for overnight parking. Many people getting to their cars even slightly later were fined.
Review 30:The good night guarantee really does work, Had a night disturbed by other guests which was no fault of the hotel but management were brilliant in their attitude towards us and we were compensated without any problem.
Review 31:I was dissapointed with the breakfast, in particular the fried eggs. Unedible, obviously too long on the hotplate
Review 32:The staff were all very friendly and helpful
Review 33:Nothing
Review 34:Lovely! Restaurant in the hotel was really nice! Good value for money too! The room was immaculate! The beds are so comfy! I need those pillows!! Booking.com had messed my booking up, but the staff were more than happy to help! They sorted it for me and it didn't effect our stay!
Review 35:My partner and I booked a triple room although it was just the two of us occupying the room. I do however feel that the spare single bed would have been awfully uncomfortable for anyone to sleep on had we had a third person joining us. The lack of parking offered by the hotel was a real inconvenience. Hotel guests are advised to park in the multi-story car park next door at a small fee. However, even though it's approx £1.30 for overnight parking, tickets expire at 10am which means that if you're not checking out early, you must remember to pay for extended parking time to avoid being fined. There are a handful of free parking spaces along the outside of the multi-story car park, but it's a matter of luck if you get one.
Review 36:The hotel at large, and our room were spotless! Our room was nice and spacious. We booked a triple room although it was just my partner and I occupying the room. The bathroom was clean and tidy. The cleaners knocked respectfully on our door just a few hours before our departure to see if anyone was in, so that they could clean. I mention this because we have had numerous encounters in other hotels where cleaners just invite themselves in, or knock once and allow themselves in without waiting for a response. Staff were lovely
Review 37:As we live in room with 2 children but there was only 1 small bed for children and even was no dovet stuff fr children bed apart from that it was good
Review 38:Iwiukd have preferred parking that I didn't need to pay for however very central so understood not enough land for own carpark
Review 39:Good location, quiet , easy access to overnight parking which I had to pay for but was very reasonable .staff friendly and helpful
Review 40:Bathroom was very basic and had an extremely loud extractor fan that went on every time the light was on. Bit annoying if anyone was up during the night. Wifi we had to pay forv24 which again is annoying should be free to guests.
Review 41:Breakfast was amazing. Good selection for everyone. Bed were extremely comfy.
Review 42:The staff in the restaurant were so warm and outgoing. Really lovely, really went the extra mile, great service. The lady at reception recommended a local Indian restaurant, it was fantastic. Free shots for the parents and mocktails for the kids. Best Indian curry I've ever had.
Review 43:Only thing would be that we didn't know where to park but once we found it, the £1.50 over night (until 10am) charge for parking was fine compared to £5 over night charge (until 7am) in the previous place that we had stayed. Much better rates here!
Review 44:One of the best we have stayed in very clean, very friendly and very comfy beds! and the air con is a massive bonus! Would definitely recommend for a family stay!
Review 45:I am using this Hotel for my House Guests while some building work is taking place at home. Last month I used it for Mrs & Mr. Benjamin and it is likely that I will use it again in September. However, the lack of Parking is a great problem and I may have to re-consider.
Review 46:Worse thing is to have a hotel with no car park. Two night I pay but I had to wake up early to avoid having parking Fine. First day I was tired as slept 3am and woke up to find parking ticket on my car.
Review 47:Breakfast was good
Review 48:Good location everything we expected and top marks to Roy working in the restaurant who was most helpful and dealt with a very difficult group of customers sitting opposite us admirably.
Review 49:Only given one hand towel for two people (this changed when asked), very noisy fan in bathroom, telephone only for internal use, no inside bathmat, wakeup calls were not given when asked for two mornings
Review 50:Very convenient location, good price, very clean, wonderful beds and shower, good room-darkening curtains.
Review 51:The dinner was the worst meal I have ever had in a restaurant. from wrong food, late food cold food and small tasteless portion. Even the drinks were forgotten and when reordered came out as meal was almost over. Overpriced parking in nearest car park.
Review 52:comfortable bed
Review 53:automatic booking in did not function correctly (even with reception assisting me) outdated, no supply for shaver in bathroom, tv remote did not work, looked out over student housing. no car park facilities, nearest i found for 24hr parking was 1/2 mile away
Review 54:1) is quite expensive for the value offered 2) bathroom with tube is not modern anymore; you must climb inside for a shower(!)...I cannot understand why hotel is not having shower place in stead of a bath tube.
Review 55:1) location is close to Solihull city center 2) room is spacious enough with good mattress and sleeping facility 3) room is quiet and wifi free is just ok
Review 56:The beds!!! I didnt find the new beds comfortable at all... Requested mattress topper to be told they didnt do them!! Also last time we stayed breakfast was served no a buffet not as good
Review 57:Close to Solihull, clean, no fuss, quiet
Review 58:A buffet cooked breakfast works better in other Prem inns although nice to have it all freshly cooked as ordered.
Review 59:Very clean, comfortable and friendly staff.
Review 60:the last few times i have stayed breakfast has been cold and sat on not very hot plates for a while even though I was one of the first there.
Review 61:I was impressed with the special care I was given as i was traveling alone
Review 62:This hotel doesn't have a carpark so you have to park nearby.
Review 63:This hotel is really ideal if you are going out in Solihull town centre, staff are friendly and rooms are nice and clean.
Review 64:Absolutely nothing
Review 65:I cannot praise the staff enough, all of the staff were so helpful my husband was so unwell they catered a extra chair in the room , anything i needed they tryed their best to help. And all my family was over from ireland with children so we took over the bar room but the staff was still very helpful and patient . So delighted with premier inn.
Review 66:We went down for breakfast, at 10.55 and it was finished, all the literature said breakfast was on till 11.30. We were told there was nothing left. Luckily we had not pre booked, and paid, however we would expect it to still be on until the time stated.
Review 67:I booked two triple rooms but one only had a double bed made up, the single bed wasn't. Three had to share a bed. When complained a sheet was put on the bed.
Review 68:The location was perfect and the hotel was very quiet
Review 69:The only small negative was the view from our room 318, but not much you can do about that.
Review 70:Staff friendly, accommodation excellent. Myself, my Daughter & Granddaughter really enjoyed our stay. We felt safe and well looked after. The facilities & breakfast could not be faulted. Car park was right next to hotel, so no worries and was very reasonable at £8.00 for 24 hours.
Review 71:Staff were fantastic. Helped us book in and order taxis. The hotel is very close to pubs and restaurants too. Would definitely stay here again if visiting the genting arena in the future
Review 72:There is no parking which is most unusual for a premier inn. We had to park in a close by overnight car park and have to race to the car for 10am to buy another ticket.
Review 73:It was very quiet for a city centre location, felt fresh, clean and newly re-fitted
Review 74:wifi not completely free as inducated at the moment of booking
Review 75:A warm welcome from the staff, always polite and at disposal. very good breakfast. the room are clean and extremely comfortable. the quiet zone is an addition benefit.
Review 76:Air con was a little too strong and couldn't figure out how to turn it down.
Review 77:Great location if you need to be in Solihull - close to train station and town center. Comfortable, very clean, great staff, no non-sense.
Review 78:I should have read up more before I booked this hotel in Solihull. My son playing in a golf comp and others stayed in a much better and cheaper hotel closer to the course. The lack of onsite parking I didn't like especially parking in the multi sorry opposite when we had to carry clubs etchinghill in every night.
Review 79:Lovely hotel in a lovely location. Parking fantastic right next to hotel. Really clean and new inside. Great night sleep. Really lovely staff very helpful. Fit bar man ;)
Review 80:Ah we loved our stay we were getting married the next day i had my family over from ireland . We were able to keep our room an extra hour after checkout at no extra charge, they opened the bar for us when we came back , Very helpful. And the rooms ... so much space was very surprised and the bed was so so comfortable. Cleanliness spotless. We will def be back.
Review 81:Pay for car parking. Reception staff very unhelpful however all other personnel were very friendly. Fire alarm went off around 6am for a few seconds which woke an frightened my 2children.
Review 82:Good location to arenas, airport etc..shopping centre jus outside hotel with plenty of places to eat.
Review 83:Totallyunprepared for the high volume of guests at breakfast. Long queus and ran out of everything.
Review 84:room was immaculate and very comfortable. Staff were very helpful and friendly
Review 85:Wifi 30 minutes free why only 30 minutes? Why not free for your stay
Review 86:The lady who served us breakfast was lovely, there was a man on the other table and he was very rude... We didn't understand as she done her up most BEST to cater his and our needs waitress gets 1000%!
Review 87:Trying to contact the hotel to confirm an early check in of 12:30 so we could change and go straight to the wedding. An email and 12 unanswered calls to try and confirm our request! In the end I took the option of booking more than 10 rooms via the expensive central phone number as I thought someone will answer the phone for that.. They did and all was taken care off. So if they only answered the phone at the hotel all would have been perfect!
Review 88:Everything was reasonable not outstatanding but as we were only after a room to sleep in and a good breakfast while attending a wedding this was excellent value.
Review 89:I wanted to pay by cash but was told I needed photo id,, this was a problem for me,, I had to go back to the room to get my cards,, this was not what I planned,,
Review 90:Very clean and warm nice freindly staff
Review 91:shower curtain :/ no in room safe described online as been located over the road from shopping centre / cinema / restaurants ... not exactly true!
Review 92:the food was amazing, the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 93:Car park arrangement and having to renew the ticket at 7am every morning. Noise from the floor upstairs (floors are too thin), badly cooked food
Review 94:Location, friendly and helpful staff
Review 95:Wifi kept throwing you out, repeat log ins annoying!
Review 96:Spotless hotel, good food and drinks menu, very comfy bed and pillows...cldnt get this price in london for sure
Review 97:As there is no parking the best place to park is just over the way at Lode Lane parking which overnight from 6pm until 10am is about £1.30 do not park in station road unless you are prepared to leave by 8am I should have done my research on the parking before booking, but as long as you know this it's still a great place to stay.
Review 98:Great illuminated mirror to do makeup & hair, great dryer supplied. Wonderful bathroom comfy bed, peaceful & very clean I will definately return
Review 99:very rude and uncooperative staff at the restaurant, looking at her watch three four times when we wanted to book a table at around 9-30 on our arrival date very uncooperative and unfriendly
Review 100:the location
Review 101:There were insufficient staff at breakfast. We were well-treated, but the person had too much to do and difficulty in seating some people.
Review 102:The room was spacious and very clean, well-provided with drinks.
Review 103:Had children in next room continually screaming and shouting and running up and down the corridors slightly put me off staying again
Review 104:Cleanliness of room, location
Review 105:For the amount paid (£186 for two nights) I feel ripped off. It's cheaper to stay in London with more included.I could hear other guests from in my room and the WiFi was very slow even to browse the net for Wikipedia. The heating in the room wasn't great either as set it to 24℃ but it didn't get warmer. If I hadn't paid so much I wouldnt feel so let down.
Review 106:The staff were very helpful. Close to train station and town.
Review 107:Choice of pillows all seemed the same! We had to book another room last minute and it was very expensive. There are no single rooms available, only doubles.
Review 108:Breakfast! Very helpful staff.
Review 109:ditched abt parking. When we checked in the staff told us that we can park in hotel basement. However during check out we came to know that the basement was not hotel car park.
Review 110:comfort was too good
Review 111:Location is great, very close to the main car park, also short walk to all the shops, restaurants etc in Solihull, quite a new hotel still has that new feel about it.
Review 112:I was not happy that I was asked to pay for the internet and was no free park for customers. Also leaving early at 11.00
Review 113:I loved the comfort bed and the warmth in the room. Also the toilet was very nice. It was very clean.
Review 114:There was ONE member of staff on duty covering reception and the bar at most times and even at breakfast only one person front of house. And although they did an epic job it felt understaffed
Review 115:the staff were so friendly and approachable. I had freinds with a baby visiting for coffee and they were made welcome and we were looked after. i was offered help with my luggage ( which rarely happens these days in large hotel chains) The hotel is spotlessly clean and the decor warm and inviting
Review 116:In particular the staff at this Premier Inn were a step above the already expected standard of service of Premier Inn - friendly, informative and attention to detail in every way possible. Full credit and thank you for making every effort to provide excellent customer service.
Review 117:We were given a family room fir just 2 of us, there was a dirty nappy outside our door for the whole evening, car parking out side restricted to 1/2hr and bed was really stiff!
Review 118:Location and staff were very nice!
Review 119:Heating in room not working on arrival at midnight but friendly staff member put it right by remote control late at night. Car parking entrance hard to find but exit easy as that is near hotel.
Review 120:Friendly efficient and polite staff. Comfortable beds. Good showers. Breakfast excellent. Super city centre position. Quiet room and level of security to reach rooms was good. Will be happy to go there again.
Review 121:Nothing - very happy with our stay
Review 122:We stayed for two nights as a family of three and this them couldn't do enough for us. Check in was excellent with a very friendly receptionist who made is feel very much at home. Breakfast was really good with a variety of choice - again the restaurant staff couldn't do enough for us. Very well located for Solihull, good sized clean rooms and comfy beds! Value for money too.
Review 123:Car Parking but very very close to the hotel. Only a couple of minutes walk
Review 124:Bar and restaurant area was lovely. Staff were so friendly and kind. Location and value was good
Review 125:Fire alarm went off at 6.00am and we all had to get up and evacuate....what a pain that was. The alarm was awful.
Review 126:Lovely shower and comfy bed. TV a little small but ok for just 1 night
Review 127:No car park so had to park in multi-storey near hotel and refill meter which was a bit of an inconvenience. Was 21 mins late on the last day and got a ticket!!!
Review 128:Friendly staff, clean rooms, very comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast!
Review 129:.bath room shower head and floor wasnt clean enough. .the heating in room wasn't warm enough. . A few times I call reception and no one answered, when I need something done.
Review 130:The size of the room..... The staff was friendly and asked if I needed anything, and answered my questions when asked face to face.
Review 131:The room above occupants jumping around and generally making loads of noise from 10:30pm to 1:30am. Tried calling reception twice with no answer got through at 3rd attempt. WiFi not great, limited number of devices allowed and dropped out a lot, doubt it was worth the additional cost of £3.00 per day
Review 132:Location to the Tudor Grove sports centre as my children were competition there. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good value with the children eating free option. Security was good - lift operation and door access via swipe card bad family feel safe.
Review 133:Not enough staff on Saturday morning for breakfast/checkout times. Waited 10mins for staff to appear before I could check out and she was a bit snitty when she arrived. Tea/coffee facilities in room VERY light on. Half hour free wifi also a bit miserly. Overall it was a good stay but just got the impression they were trying to run the place as cheaply as possible and not in a good way.
Review 134:Good location, some staff excellent, secure and clean hotel
