Reviews for Schiehallion Hotel

Review 1:Friendly staff in a great location in the centre of Aberfeldy. Modern rooms - we had a deluxe room with a huge bath and remote control candles which was a nice touch. Thank you.

Review 2:The rooms have been re modeled to a very high standard. The town is central for the Highlands. The staff are very friendly and the bar meals are excellent value.

Review 3:Other half didn't like sport being on /in the bar but I did :@)

Review 4:The room was clean, spacious and quiet at night. Breakfast was very good. The bar and beers / whisky selection was good (we didn't eat there but the food looked good) Football and Rugby in the bar / multiple screens.

Review 5:None

Review 6:the hotel has taken the best aspects of other hotels and incorporated them. Electric security, bathrooms/showers 0plenty of power) heating - tea/coffe with plenty of items etc. You sense the management has actually stayed in the rooms themselves and been critical of everything so it can be excellent for guests. clearly

Review 7:Nothing to dislike

Review 8:Excellent modern spacious bedroom and bathroom with a king size top quality bed. The evening meal and breakfast were also excellent. On top of this, all the staff were very friendly and very efficient.

Review 9:Great place to stay. We stayed in the deluxe room which is very comfortable and spacious. The en-suite bathroom was also very spacious with separate shower and oversized bathtub big enough for two. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. We also had dinner at the hotel, the table service was excellent and the food was good too. I would definitely recommend the Schiehallion Hotel to anyone wanting to stay in or around Aberfeldy.

Review 10:First of all the staff were not friendly or helpful at all. We decided to have dinner at the hotel but wish we hadn't. We ordered steak and lasagne. The steak was supposed to be rare was overdone. The lasagne was basically a round lump of mince covered in cheese, with no layers of pasta through it at all. The white sauce was congealed & actually looked like instant mash. When the waitress asked how the meal was I told her it wasn't great at all, I explained about the lasagne and she only said oh I'll pass that on to the chef. I then repeated this on checking out the next day to a different member of staff and again I was met with 'Oh'. The barman James (the name he gave) was very rude. I asked for ice in my drink & was told there is no ice, that's why there is none in your drink! As the staff were clearing up for closing we were told to drink up as he was going home in 5 minutes, he was a rather unpleasant member of staff. The entertainment for the evening had also been cancelled, this was out of the hotels control I appreciate that but it just added to the disappointment we felt. Breakfast was a bit chaotic, no one seemed to know what they were doing and the food was again very substandard. If you stay here then I would advise you to eat elsewhere as you will be wasting your money otherwise. And make sure you leave the bar well before shutting time so as not to annoy the bar staff and prevent them from getting away early!

Review 11:Nice modern and clean room. I requested a late check out which was agreed to.

Review 12:The Hotel has had a recent make over and the amenities are right up to date. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. There was a wide choice of good food which was well presented.

Review 13:The room was directly above the bar area so was a little noisy to start with but then live music ran from 9-12 with speakers directly below our bed. I complained but no other rooms were available so we just had to live with it and were given a £20 discount off the rate.

Review 14:Lovely clean and newly refurbished, the deluxe room was very spacious and well appointed. HUGE bathroom! Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 15:See above about food

Review 16:Refurbished to a high standard. Rooms lovely friendly staff recommend on this but be aware they have no car park, free parking in public car park not cctv monitored. Also food in hotel bar was shockingly bad, raw veg poor quality steak not cooked or over cooked.... On plus side the lady that served us was lovely staff helpful and apologetic and didn't charge us for one of the meals but would not bother to eat there.

Review 17:Bedroom a bit small but otherwise excellent.

Review 18:Nice bar, friendly and helpful staff. Bathroom and shower were top notch. Aberfeldy is very picturesque with a number of bars and restaurants and the Schiehallion is ideally located on the main street.

Review 19:The hotel is in the midst of the town and I should not be surprised about loud people on the streets (at least at Saturday evening).

Review 20:It is a lovely little hotel, Aberfeldy is a beautiful place, the countryside is wonderful, the food was very good and the whisky is delicious (-: And the shower is very comfortable!

Review 21:Only one problem we only could stay one night!!!!!!!

Review 22:The welcome and the bedroom was amazing!!!!atmosphere in the bar was good!!! The manager & staff were friendly...

Review 23:Lovely upto date hotel, very clean, friendly staff, good breakfasts, parked right outside, had a fabulous walk around Aberfeldy, with friends that live there

Review 24:Comfortable beds and great shower with hot water at all times Also very quiet considering it has a pub facility on ground floor Breakfast included fresh berries which were excellent Really enjoyable stay!

Review 25:The water pipes were pretty noisy and the wifi didn't work in the bedroom (this may have been because I was on the top floor)

Review 26:Very friendly staff and great location

Review 27:Difficult winding staircase to top floor…No assistance with luggage. Room was sparsely decorated

Review 28:Friendly staff.. reasonable prices.. willing to spend time giving driving directions. Nice town

Review 29:Double bed was comfy but we're used to a king size so would have like a bigger bed

Review 30:Hotel very nice, room and bathroom very big and clean. Bar and restaurant downstairs was lovely, didn't eat there but food looked excellent and lots of people eating so must have been good. Excellent location, near shops and eating places.

Review 31:ENTERTAINMENT WAS GOOD THE HOTEL STAFF WERE ALL VERY HELPFULL AND FRIENDLY AND THE ROOMS WERE VERY COMFORTABLE IN ALL WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL

Review 32:Nothing

Review 33:The location was great, hotel was spotless, food was excellent. And the beds were so comfortable it was hard getting up for the delicious breakfast.

Review 34:No air-con. Had to open the windows and hear the street noise.

Review 35:Grand building, recently renovated. Bright and airy. Excellent staff. Excellent breakfast.

Review 36:Not so keen on the rather dark bar where we had evening meal. But food good and staff friendly and helpful.

Review 37:Comfortable, well furnished bedroom. Good bathroom. Lots of hot water and a good shower.

Review 38:Wifi signal was very poor and needs improvement. Would have been better off not advertising for wifi until it gets sorted. There was an apology from the staff about this, and they are looking into sorting it out.

Review 39:Loved the way we were greeted and the cleanliness of the hotel. The room was superb. The bed was comfy and the amenities were good. Dinner was great, and breakfast was as expected.

Review 40:On arrival we were greeted warmly by the staff who made us feel very welcome. They couldn't do enough for us. Our bedroom and bathroom had been newly refurbished to a really high standard. Would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends, no problem at all.

Review 41:Our bedroom window overlooked an outside staircase where people stood on the stairs for a smoke but could see right in to our room.( Room 4)

Review 42:Hotel beautifully furnished

Review 43:Trying to have a nap late Friday afternoon in room 4 when the noisy extract in the kitchen below was switched on spoke to the manager and it was switched off. Got my 40 winks!

Review 44:It was convenient for the wedding we attended, close to the Three Lemons for a Friday night get together of the Scots ans Danes attending the wedding a Castle Menzies on Saturday. About a dozen of us stayed here.

Review 45:Great shower (really), but a bath would have been welcome too. I couldn't get the Wifi to work in my room, but the bar made an attractive base for internet access.

Review 46:Very bright, clean and well appointed rooms.

Review 47:If I was being picky, I'd say not having an on-site car park, but to be honest, the public car park is seconds away and is free.

Review 48:The service was fantastic, rooms were clean, fresh and well cared for. The food was presented well and tasted wonderful.

Review 49:The staff were very welcoming and helpful - to the point of laying on a really early breakfast for those of us cycling in the Etape Caledonia. The rooms are a good size, good value, decorated to a high standard and very clean. This is an excellent place to stay - highly recommended.

Review 50:WiFi worked only in the pub downstairs, not in the rooms.

Review 51:A very cozy place, spacious room and a luxurious bathroom. Excellent location for an active weekend (hiking, cycling, mountain biking)

Review 52:think maybe they could include dinner in their price or maybe a free drink on arrival. As alot of other hotels offering this as part of the deal.

Review 53:friendly staff, breakfast lovely.

Review 54:although Ive scored everything very high I did experience a very poor evening meal which made me feel quite ill. My husbands meal was good.

Review 55:the upgrade of the hotel is really well done. We stayed in The hotel before was closed and upgraded so huge difference. Keep up the good work.

Review 56:Extractor fan outside room 4 very noisy and spoiled our 2 day . Had to wait 1 hour for breakfast first morning. Were not informed that food was not available on sunday nights.

Review 57:Very clean b&b and nice staff.

Review 58:There were some people staying on sat night in hotel who were a bit noisy and did bang doors a few times. It did stop eventually or we would have complained, but sunday was bliss.

Review 59:Hotel staff were friendly, room was clean and comfortable and warm when we arrived only thing we didnt have was a great view. Meals served in bar area were excellent. Breakfast was a treat. Indian restaurant was ideally situated across road for an alternative quiseen. Aberfeldy has definitely changed for the better since the last time we visited.

Review 60:Painfully long wait for Sunday breakfast, which would have Been more acceptable if service staff had explained the reason and given an indication of how long we would have to wait.

Review 61:Value for money and cleanliness of room.

Review 62:Not a bad experience as such. We had dinner there which was great value. My husbands meal was perfect but my chicken was so hard at the edges I couldn't cut it. I had to leave approx a third. Pointed out to waitress who said she would mention it to the chef. Never came back to me which was a bit disappointing. Won't stop me going back as everything else was first class.

Review 63:Beautifully maintained hotel. We booked a deluxe double which was very spacious, bathroom was huge, modern and immaculate. Candles by the bath! Bed was comfy and room looked recently refurbished. Lovely large windows so made room nice and light. Staff were all friendly and breakfast was lovely. Will def go back.

Review 64:If I could pick an option better than excellent I would, this hotel is fabulous in evey way and was well worth the money. Only problem was not with hotel, could not get a signal anywhere in the town to connect to wi fi.

Review 65:The receptionist upon arrival could've had better customer service but the service in the morning with another member of staff was great. The kitchen had to close when we arrived so dinner wasn't available, however there were other places close by to eat so that was fine!

Review 66:The room was lovely, comfortable and modern. It was a nice and peaceful place to relax. Free car park across the road and right next to a shop and petrol garage which was handy. Plenty of options for breakfast.

Review 67:Being old we like a bath to soak in but there wasn't one. The shower was very, very nice, however, so we can't really say we didn't like the bathroom.

Review 68:The location was brilliant. The room was big as was the bathroom. The heating worked great. Breakfast was really delicious and a great range on offer. We will stay there again - soon I hope.

Review 69:Very little!! There wasn't a car park at hotel but it was only five mins walk to the free town car park.

Review 70:Where to start! The beds were so comfy. The bathroom was a great size. The staff were friendly, chatty and helpful. There were chocolates in the room! The location wonderful, right in the centre of town.

Review 71:Nothing to dislike.

Review 72:Everything This was a fantastic choice and I will have no hesitation in recommending and re booking at this hotel again. Perfect. Regards Robert Houseman services ☺

Review 73:All staff we encountered very helpful & friendly. And very patient with elderly members of the party. Good sized, very clean rooms. Perfect location for surrounding attractions.

Review 74:Nothing.

Review 75:Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely fresh bedroom with excellent large bathroom which had the best walk-in shower ever! Being older and having some mobility issues this was very much appreciated, as was parking near-by. Good evening meal was enjoyed by us and four extra relatives, breakfast was good too. A visit from the local fire brigade, for a false alarm, provided extra entertainment, better safe than sorry. Would go back again to room 5.

Review 76:we had a great stay in aberfeldy, the hotel was really good value for money, hotel staff very friendly and helpful the locals were friendly and welcoming definitely book here again.

Review 77:The only thing was when we went for dinner we waited for over an hour for food, we had young children with us, their was people came in after us and had their good before us.

Review 78:I thought the family room was beautiful it had everything we needed ivei definetly be back.

Review 79:Wifi reception in the room was poor and not very responsive. Wifi in the bar area was OK though.

Review 80:The location of the hotel was excellent for exploring the surrounding areas. The double room was large, the bathroom was well decorated, and the bed was really comfy. Everything you'd need was right on the hotels doorstep - petrol station, supermarket, restaurants, bakery, shops. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

Review 81:Bar a bit noisy ( but it was Friday evening !) and dinner menu not very appetising - usual pub grub. Car parking could be a problem - I was lucky in the street outside.

Review 82:Friendly, helpful staff. Very good, attentive service. Excellent room - quiet, comfortable, modern fittings, and very clean. Good value for money. I am returning to the area and I will book again

Review 83:The kitchen fan rumbled and whined next to our room. Fortunately, it only ran when the kitchen / restaurant was open.

Review 84:Large comfortable room - clean and modern.

Review 85:Nothing to report

Review 86:stayed at this hotel September weekend ,great food ,great staff , great hotel a bit noisy as the rooms are above a busy sports bar but bearing in mind it was the September weekend which was very busy I would request a room above the 1st floor my partner and I had a deluxe room which was beautifully decorated ,fresh, modern and huge bathroom excellent shower and a bath u could do the front crawl in, the staff couldn't do enuf for u breakfast was excellent and was even allowed to take breakfast in bed up to my partner who was feeling a bit under the weather so thanx v much for a very pleasant experience will be back ,Michaella and dave xx

Review 87:Car parking is an issue as the public Car park near to the hotel is full of contractors vehicles who are working on the new supermarket opposite. Could the management consider coat hooks within the door of the room for outdoor gear? This is Scotland! Like wise could do with hooks and shelves in the bathroom.

Review 88:Brilliant staff, especially Peter and Monty, two of the most helpful, welcoming staff you could wish for. Bedroom was spotless as was the bathroom. WiFi was easily accessed. Breakfast was good and plentiful, served efficiently and pleasantly. The two dinners we ate were of excellent quality and served by cheerful, efficient staff. Check out was very efficient. Great three day break.

Review 89:Being in a family room that was above the lounge bar and being wakened at 06.00hrs by a council street sweeping lorry and site working traffic!

Review 90:Friendly staff, good food, clean!

Review 91:Breakfast staff appeared to be learners.

Review 92:Good room. Friendly efficient staff in bar/dining area in evening. Dinner service was very slow due apparently to kitchen size (their explanation) but this did not worry us in the evening.

Review 93:Wifi was not a strong point

Review 94:Staff were very friendly and hotel was spotlessly clean the area was very attractive and there was a wide choice if things to do and places to eat rooms were larger than average and to a very high standard

Review 95:Wi-fi was not available in rooms or even on our floor. Street parking only, which would have been a problem during business hours.

Review 96:Very modern & tastefully renovated. Spacious room. Good breakfast. Central location.

Review 97:Clean. Modern. Solid. Quiet. We spent two weeks cycling through Scotland, staying in about 10 different hotels. Schiehallion was probably the best out of those ten. The shower is great. The room was very quiet. It was clean. The staff was very nice. The location was good. The pub was great too. We wished we had planned a longer stay. Very nice hotel.

Review 98:Wifi did not work in the room No air con in room - very warm and with window open, noise from outside was too loud Food in restaurant wasn't great quality
