Reviews for Best Western Tillington Hall Hotel
Review 1:Restaurant food was awful and expensive had fish and chips which the fish tasted off. Was charged £140 for 2 nights with no bed and breakfast friend staying same nights £119 with bed and breakfast. Wouldn't use booking.com again that's for sure
Review 2:Staff on the whole friendly and nice comfortable bed
Review 3:I say yes have but by bad tap cold and hot water was a not than clear.
Review 4:Oh well am fine but let not know what u matter l understand say word l know that way.
Review 5:There was a party in the hotel on the night i booked. I had payed for a delux double room which to my dis-pleasure the room was located directly over the bar area and was not to the standard of the delux rooms booked in the passsed. I was woken constantly until 04.45 by the noise being created in the bar area. As i was on buisiness and in need of sleep. In the morning i made comment to the receptionist about my displeasure, she said no more then oh. I have stayed at this hotel a number of times due to work commitments in the area with no problems, i hope this was a one off but i will be looking at alternitive options in the future.
Review 6:The car park was very dark, when I walked into my room I thought the window was open, as the windows were so old and drafty, the bed and pillows were very hard
Review 7:Staff were pleasant, had sky and wifi
Review 8:Room temperature is a matter of taste. There is no way to adjust it to your liking
Review 9:A very friendly staff who got out of their shoes to answer questions raised by foreign guests on any kind of subject.
Review 10:Charging an extra £2 for a fried poached or boiled egg is disgracefull, considering the scrambled egg is tasteless and not edible.
Review 11:Very comfortable, everything clean staff cannot be faulted very helpfull.
Review 12:Only thing was a defective light in bedroom. General lighting setup not very condusive for reading comfortably.
Review 13:Good location. Nice decor. Good facilities.
Review 14:The relaxed comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff. Despite being situated in the town, the outside seating area and large grassed area to the front was beautiful and tranquil.
Review 15:Sewage flooding outside bedro window and management attitude to problem Inadequate standard of dinner food Noise through bedroom walls
Review 16:Local dog walking Proximity to motorway
Review 17:Young man behind bar, cleaners, breakfast staff were all very pleasant. Convience for M6. Special mention to Adi on reception who was very pleasant, efficient, and helpful. Thank you.
Review 18:This hotel is very close to the M6 (our reason for choosing it). It is surrounded by green space and the staff were particularly helpful to us after a long and frustrating drive from Scotland. A good hotel for a one night stop.
Review 19:Local yobs leaving glass bottles on the driveway. Taxi ordered by hotel cost 30% more than one we booked ourselves.
Review 20:Friendly staff. Free parking. Ok restaurant.
Review 21:The room was so hot it was a good job they provided a fan! Breakfast was a bit disappointing
Review 22:Comfortable bed Sky tv The room was clean There was an iron and ironing board provided in the room There was a decent fan provided in the room Friendly and helpful reception staff Room service food was really nice Free WIFI
Review 23:One of our rooms was located over the function room we were there for 3 nights and Fri and Sat had functions, very noisy, no sleep and working all weekend. Duty Manager brilliant and sorted it out on checkout.
Review 24:Friendly staff
Review 25:The only thing I could say which is picky is the windows didn't open far enough as it was very warm and the hot tap was extremely hot as soon as it was turned on.
Review 26:Good sized rooms, very comfy beds which we didn't want to get out of. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 27:In the restaurant there were ants crawling around our table , there were people allowed in to eat in restaurant in barefoot and vests and shorts , not very good considering the amount of money paid. Also when checking in the receptionist took swipe of card assuring nothing would be taken out , and on checkout just pay the difference , when checked out I asked again are you sure I'm not going get charged twice as you have already swiped card , no sir that will be cancelled , no such luck 2 deductions of 340 pound taken out not very good and will not be staying again , and will not recommend to any one else
Review 28:Rooms were ok
Review 29:£9.95 extra per person for breakfast was expensive as the choice was quite poor and no one came to the table to offer alternative eggs, additions etc as the menu offered
Review 30:Great location just off J14 M6, easy to find. Friendly staff, early check in at no extra cost. Clean spaccious rooms
Review 31:Beautiful location, public transport accessible (bus stop right outside and Stafford station about a mile away), room service menu great, reasonably priced and portions generous. Best monster handcut chips!
Review 32:Confused as to why it costs more to book at the hotel then it does on line , surely the prices should be the same ?
Review 33:Freindly and helpful staff, food excellent location excellent
Review 34:Smokers right outside the main doors. Staff disappear / can't find them when you need them. Don't put customer first.
Review 35:Location, facilities and free wifi. Food is good. Would prefer better coffee (in a plunger) rather then from a machine.
Review 36:I know they are easy to do and ideal for the 'gobble and go' brigade but I don't really like buffet breakfasts.
Review 37:For one night on a business trip it was fine. Staying any longer I would look for a gym. The reception staff were very helpful The room was clean and comfortable. Lots of parking on site. Excellent location with easy access from M6
Review 38:No staff at bar, waited for service. Pillows need renewing Asked for taxi, reception forgot to call one. When they did get me one, a dirty old minibus with a cracked window arrived to take me all dressed up to a party
Review 39:Hotel looked lovely Staff were nice, when you found them, but not exactly communicative
Review 40:Breakfast not a good quality as we have had there previously.
Review 41:The rooms were nicely presented and had been decorated relatively recently. Good comfortable bed and very quiet through the night making for a good nights sleep. Good value.
Review 42:The room windows could do with updating. The locks arent that secure. We didn't like the fact that there was now draught beer.
Review 43:As usual we enjoyed everything about the Tillington. The reception staff were lovely And helpful. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious.
Review 44:The bed moved around, so that when hubby was restless I woke up !!
Review 45:The staff were happy, helpful and on hand. The room was a good size with everything you could need.
Review 46:Nothing to complain about at all.
Review 47:Ideal situation for town & country. Plenty of parking space. Clean & spacious modern bedroom with all the essentials. Pleasant bar with drinks at fair prices. Excellent dinner & breakfast served in a delightful, modern restaurant. Staff cheerful, efficient, & helpful, for whom nothing was too much trouble.
Review 48:Brought back memories of 50 years ago, when I used to go there as a teenage telegram boy, for upmarket weddings. A nice drive down avenue of trees, no noisy traffic.
Review 49:Wifi not great, didn't offer an option to pay for more bandwidth. My wife didn't find the bed very comfortable, although I did.
Review 50:As a previous visitor, I know the location is good for us, handy for M6. On a winter night, our room was wonderfully cozy on arrival. Buffet breakfast is generally the same but a very good choice. Other meals good quality. Sky TV, hot water 24 hours, very little noise from other occupiers, free wifi. I found the bed comfy (my wife didn't). Rooms also contained 3 chairs and adequate drinks facilities.
Review 51:Some of the bar and waiting staff were young and inexperienced and although polite, need better training and management.Poorly finished and furnished bedroom and bathroom. Old, tired and out of date but with all the necessary facilities. Restaurant and reception/bar areas quite chilly.
Review 52:Easy to find from the motorway, easy free parking, good free internet and a good buffet style hot breakfast. Bar on site and restaurant.
Review 53:The continental breakfast offering is not the most imaginative - but quite adequate.
Review 54:We have taken to breaking a long journey from home to Cumbria at Tillington Hall Hotel. It is very conveniently located near the M6 exit 14 and is perfectly satisfactory for an overnight stop.
Review 55:Room 623 very disappointing. First time we have been allocated room in older part of hotel. Hopefully not again.
Review 56:Close to M6. Easy access to relatives living in Stafford. Ample parking. Breakfasts always acceptable.
Review 57:Unable to turn on TV, had to get receptionist to show us the 5 button process to enable us to turn TV on. Surely this can be fixed. Friends in other bedroom had the same problem.
Review 58:Location and peaceful nights sleep. Friendly staff.
Review 59:All the builders coming in for breakfast....a table of loud workmen in building clothes coming in for breakfast was a mild annoyance
Review 60:Nice cheerful place fish supper was excellent,
Review 61:Draughty bedroom door and window, old metal window frame gap in lower corner would not shut fully, not double glazed. Room was noisy sounded like fans or air con, shower was useless not enough water pressure to wash your hair. Electronic access card had to be reset every evening on return from work annoying having walked up five flights of stairs. Badly in need of a refurbishment.
Review 62:Helpful friendly staff
Review 63:Drafty rooms, single glazed windows with metal frames. Huge gap between door and door frame. Draft from old style windows. Shower not working properly - could not get hot water of it - it was on the top floor. Breakfast limited to full English only + some yoghurts and fruits.
Review 64:location - nice and quiet.
Review 65:Could not see to read whilst sitting in the easy chairs. There needed to be a standard lamp in the corner by the TV. Breakfast - nothing for the person who does not want a cooked breakfast but would like continental. Only toast available. There needs to be pastries etc. The scrambled egg looked disgusting and there was no alternative.
Review 66:Two easy chairs in the bedroom
Review 67:Extremely noisy, had very little sleep. Food was so tough we couldn't eat our meals. Excellent hotels just up the road which we wish we had booked instead.
Review 68:reasonably low cost room but would have paid more for a hotel with less rowdy occupants
Review 69:Twin room (which is what was requested) but each bed had a double size douve making it very hot, heavy and uncomfortable during the night.
Review 70:Convenient place to stop on route to final destination. Good, clean and comfortable.
Review 71:Night disturbance due to inconsiderate guests. Found fault with shower and we were immediately upgraded to another room.
Review 72:Good location. Clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would go back again
Review 73:Nothing
Review 74:Lovely Hotel, smart, clean room. Staff very friendly, particularily Robert who was on late at night on the bar/reception. Hotel in good position close to the town. The breakfast was excellent.
Review 75:PUBIC HAIRS FOUND INSIDE BED COVERS Poor staff attendance to detail Non or poor working wi-fi Road traffic noise very high Could not sleep, walls paper-thin, could hear even normal chatting in rooms next door. Missed room service card left at 7PM, had to call down at 7:25am to see where the breakfast was as card still handing on door – when breakfast arrived, half the food was missing. Stay was just dreadful from start to finish. Was going to sign up for their rewards program, but goes without saying, did not. If you need a quiet place to stay, good service, hygienic clean bedding and rooms, and WiFi then avoid at all cost. Wish I paid double elsewhere for a good night’s sleep.
Review 76:Close to area needed
Review 77:Very friendly and helpful staff. We had dinners in the hotel restaurant 2 nights in a row, because the food was so tasty with very good value! Room is big enough and has Sky TV. We will definitely go back and stay again.
Review 78:This hotel is the best break point for us I have a brother in North Devon but live in Ireland so we have to catch ferries. This worked out the perfect timing & so close to the motorway, great place for a decent meal & good nights sleep.
Review 79:We booked room only as we were attending a wedding in Stafford. Reception staff were friendly and booked taxi for us. Room was clean and had all facilities we required. Would have liked more biscuits!
Review 80:The shower had very low pressure and I found it difficult to get the right temperature. Also the height adjuster was offset at an awkward angle and the fixed point wasn't high enough.
Review 81:The room was adequate for what I needed, close to where I needed to be and handy having the gym at the end of the road
Review 82:The bread at breakfast is the only thing we did not like and having to put it through the toaster twice in order to brown it.
Review 83:The location. Out of town but close by
Review 84:Dinners a little pricy (although a good choice) so I only ate in once.
Review 85:Comfortable bed in spotlessly clean room. Appreciated large bath as well as shower. Lined curtains so properly dark at night. Appreciated free wi-fi. Quiet room with pleasant outlook. Enjoyed flat screen tv with Sky.
Review 86:we were put on the top floor with a large dog which wasnt ideal.
Review 87:great location, good facilities, clean and tidy, beautiful breakfast, ample parking. Great park if travelling with a dog
Review 88:Nothing.
Review 89:This is a really nice dog friendly hotel, with a big grassy area to walk them. We have stayed here 3 times this year. It is quiet being set right back from the road. We had a really good meal at a very good price.
Review 90:What's not to like, location just right. Struggled with remote on the TV, but Emily receptionist talked us through the buttons, should have rung her sooner!
Review 91:Pretty good hotel at a reasonable price. Everything available, even iron and ironing board in cupboard. Clean room.Comfy bed. Staff very helpful, food good. Had room service food arrived after 10 minutes. Breakfast was fine and help yourself as usual. Have stayed in many more expensive hotels which were only marginally better. Quite impressed actually. Would stay there again.
Review 92:This hotel is obviously in a state of transition and it seems to be being up-dated in the main areas such asd reception, dining room and bar. It looked a bit bare in these areas with lack of seating in the bar and lack of furnishings in the restaurant. Hopefully, this problems will be rectified in time.
Review 93:Good location and very convenient for Stafford where we were attending an event. We asked for a quiet room and this was provided at the rear of the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, plenty of towels and the bathroom was spotless. The staff were friendly, pleasant and efficient.
Review 94:Nothing apart from room overlooking the rear of the building with all the pipes and extractor fan buzzing.Did'nt really interfere from a good nights sleep
Review 95:Staff very friendly ordered room service which incurs a premium of £2.50 but delivered within 20 mins and was good
Review 96:My bedroom window would not shut - luckily I was on 2nd floor so no problem there and I like a cool room, again lucky there.
Review 97:Good location and bed comfy
Review 98:NO LIFTS, carpet edges on staircase getting worn & tatty, very hot and stuffy room despite open window, noisy bathroom extractor fan (our room as well as adjoining room) ordered and charged for newspaper but not supplied!
Review 99:Location, cleanliness & breakfast
Review 100:Fantastic spacious room with large TV, tea and coffee etc etc. Comfortable bar area, lovely restaurant. We were only there for two nights and were quite satisfied with the dinners and breakfasts that we had. The hotel was easy to find and its location suited us perfectly.
Review 101:Food was cold and took forever to come over 20 mins wtg for a drink then the wrong drink was brought, Took my wine order only to come back with a dfferent one. Was told to eat somewhere else as they are quite busy. Wouldn't stay in anonther Best Western
Review 102:Bed hard and lumpy Reception talking 'socially' on phone whilst customers waiting at desk Restaurant waiter service was very slow Food was not very nice worst chilli I've ever had and breakfast (well eat better in a roadside cafe)
Review 103:The whole Hotel was a bit warm, no air conditioning. The room was a bit stuffy but on opening the window, was better.
Review 104:The room was clean bright and airy. Bed was comfortable and the room was quiet.
Review 105:Breakfast so so. English breakfast cooked in too much fat for our taste. Choice not great (more fruit and selection of pastries please) and not many staff around at breakfast time. Choice of porridge as an alternative to cereal would have been good.
Review 106:Staff friendly. Rooms fine, comfortable beds. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening but room service/bar menu was good and food OK. Location ideal for M6.
Review 107:Receptionest taking money from my account x2 times stating only to book room not take it I went to get food and the money was taken from my account I was not impressed also the Receptionest denied taking it and could not find the receipt for the transaction NOT IMPRESSED The money got put back as I spoke to the fraud team at my bank ... Thanks
Review 108:The hotel was nice and clean and staff friendly
Review 109:Decor little 'tired' in places
Review 110:Quiet location just a short drive from the town - ideal for short stay accommodaton and very good quality hotel. Lovely restaurant and breakfast was delicious.
Review 111:We had to ask for staff every time we needed a drink from the bar. Even had to get them from the kitchen and it seemed a bother to them. There was only one person on the restaurant in the evening and they were late for our reservation time by 15 minutes. Noisy fan or motor going all night in room 117. Very hot.
Review 112:Location good.
Review 113:The option of a continental breakfast was toast and cereal -just the side orders of the full English. Unappetising and poor value.
Review 114:On this occasion we booked two rooms. One was modern and updated on the ground floor, the other in the attic accessed via very steep steps and worn carpet - in need of an update. But the accommodation was clean and comfortable and good value.
Review 115:This was not an enjoyable stay. In fairness, the duty manager did significantly discount the final bill but, of course, we would have much preferred to have had an enjoyable stay! The evening meal was a disaster. I have stayed at many Best Westerns. There is a pretty consistent standard. Not here. DO NOT STAY HERE WHEN THE HEAD CHEF IS NOT ON DUTY! After numerous complaints about the food - our mains were returned to the kitchen more than once and we ended up choosing to change to chilli on the basis that surely that could not be over cooked! (Not that I would recommend the chilli here!) - we were told the head chef was not working as an explanation for the appalling food. The staff were friendly but the food was awful. The service was equally awful - when we did get our replacement meals there was no cutlery and it appeared that asking for cutlery was a bit of an unusual request!! Later, a simple order for a lager and a coffee resulted in a lager and, after repeating the order which had been put through the system, three quarters of an hour later, a coffee!! So not a good evening. But worse was to come - waking up to a shower with no hot water! Arghh. When we checked out, the manager reassuringly said that maintenance had been informed about the broken boiler and that it should be repaired in a couple of days and there was nothing she could do!! As I said earlier, the manager did reduce the bill but we did not leave as happy customers! Friendly staff but dreadful service and awful food.
Review 116:Very little.
Review 117:Minor niggles only, but perhaps woth mentioning: A degree in electronics needed to operate the television. Never did figure out how to work the liquid soap dispenser.
Review 118:Situated in a leafy area of Stafford. Staff cheerful, efficient & friendly. Modern comfortable dining room. Bedroom up to the usual Best Western high standard. Would be our first choice for our next visit to the town.
Review 119:The showers were a bit weak but temperature was easy to control.
Review 120:It was easy to find. In a very pretty location not too close to the main road. The bar is small but cosy. Breakfast was good quality and the dining area is very well light from natural light. All around comfortable
Review 121:Since Tillington Hall was taken over by Great Western the prices have gone up considerably. I wouldn't say it was good value for the money spent.
Review 122:Location Friendly staff
Review 123:This was just a place to sleep while attending a wedding in Stafford so no negatives
Review 124:Quiet location, easy access to Stafford centre good breakfast easy checkout
Review 125:Room too warm, but most hotel rooms are. Bed very comfortable but duvet too heavy for hot room. Could have done with a sheet and blanket, I think that would have been not so warm.
Review 126:Clean comfortable, spacious, with good food. Receptionist helpful with bus timetable.
Review 127:Breakfast is served from 7 - 9.30am weekdays - 8 - 10am on weekends. On our outbound stay we went down at about 8.30 [on a weekday] Breakfast is "self service" with everything laid out under lights. Consequently, everything was tepid rather than piping hot and I just couldn't get my knife through the sausage skin so gave up! Fried eggs were none existent, so I had to put up with scrambled. On the return visit, we made it down just before they opened the dining area, so there was an improvement. However, even though I was able to get a fried egg and get my knife through the sausage, my chosen platter was still tepid. It's a shame that due to staffing costs [I assume] you can't get an on demand piping hot - just cooked breakfast, which sadly lets an otherwise tip top establishment down I'm afraid. I'd still recommend a stay though - not all people are as finicky as me when it comes to the "most important meal of the day"!
Review 128:Easy to find from M6, modern spacious rooms, well presented, very clean with all the facilities you'd expect and plenty of storage space. Room service was excellent, staff polite friendly and very professional. This was our first experience of "best western" and I would thoroughly recommend it to people looking for a decent Hotel / B&B on a tight budget whilst traveling through the midlands. Value for money - 4 star. Why not 5 you may ask?! Just make sure you get down to breakfast early or you may be disappointed!
Review 129:Bed uncomfortable due to collapse on one side. Room lighting very poor. Iron with broken flex covering. Hot breakfast horrible.
Review 130:Location close to the motorway.
Review 131:The hotel was situated a couple of hundred meters off the road, which made the surroundings nice and peaceful. The building exterior was appealing, with a nice glass roof over the attached restaurant. The room I stayed in was lovely, spacious, clean and comfortable. The en suite was very stylish. The staff were brilliant and very informative. A special thanks to Meghan and Lauren's friendly and professional service. The town centre is lovely, and Stafford Castle and the nature reserve was wonderful to see.
Review 132:room 117 , very dark room , needed updating , breakfast not as fresh and varied as expected , dining area a bit sparse , bar area had no cosy area to relax in , hence 1 drink and we left .
Review 133:closeness to m6
Review 134:Everything met my expectations
Review 135:This hotel has gone through a refurbishment which has really improved the facilities including the quality of food in the resturant
Review 136:Really can't think of anything bad to say!!!!
Review 137:Free wifi is always a bonus Food was great (i had the burger) All staff were very friendly, this includes the domestic staff who always had a smile and said hello/good morning. Location is great as very close to motorway and easy walk to Stafford Centre (easy for me anyway!) but still quiet as set back from the main road. Lots of free parking. Room was very nice and comfy. Overall I would definately stay here again :)
