Reviews for Breadalbane Arms Hotel
Review 1:Arrived an found the hotel was freezing Asked Manager if they had extra rooms availble he said no went to web site and booked two rooms not very a helpful Manager We went to our room well it was like ice station zebra Fire alarms going off all night bathroom stank of dampness towels were dirty Sorry but this hotel needs some work I left a day early to defrost
Review 2:Arrived and wish I had left not one thing did I like
Review 3:The programmed on offer was never available. Not even the manager when I showed him the inspired's web page. The poor man new nothing.Very bad management from Inspire Scotland. They should be sued.
Review 4:The Staff. Max the manager on what he had to cope with.
Review 5:The hotel is very tired the access to the rooms is by a dingy staircase with painted roughcast walls this puts you of right away when you get to your room the furniture is in need of replacing but the room was clean nice clean bed linen and facilities were tea and coffee and a good size flat screen TV the bathroom had just been upgraded and was first class with good quality toiletries
Review 6:The hotel is conveniently located and you can access the local amenities with ease value for Money is unbeatable but the hotel is tired
Review 7:Public areas cold and shabby, moved from first room as tv not working, No menu available for dinner, for which I was thankful in the morning as Breakfast was inedible.
Review 8:It was so cold, even with the storage heater on, there was only a bath, tv didn't work properly and there was a horrible icy draft coming through the window as there was a wide gap around window frame. There was no staff to run the bar and no indication of whether there was food available for tea so went across the road to the fountain for food and a heat, returned to hotel just after 10pm for bed. Didn't sleep well as room was freezing. Didn't feel like a hotel, felt more like a bed and breakfast.
Review 9:Liked the location, breakfast was tasty
Review 10:Great location in centre of village, pleasant staff, spotlessly clean and breakfast was fab, hotel may be dated in some parts but be realistic we paid £29 for an overnight stay with breakfast for 2, room was clean bed was comfy we had tv and tea making facilities, what more could you ask for, defo return again.
Review 11:A blackout curtain would be nice.
Review 12:It was a bargain and the hotel is nice. It needs some work though, the floor is uneven and the hall is cold, but the room and bed was decent and the bathroom was new and nice. The breakfast was good, you even had a choice of French toast, full Scottish etc.
Review 13:Was a little difficult to control air ventilation in room due to stiff window . Also creaking floors and privacy limited due to thin walls.
Review 14:The staff were courteous and helpful
Review 15:All of the below were a problem;cleanliness, decor poor, maintenance issues, tv not working, poor breakfast, thin towels, thin curtains, bad noise levels.
Review 16:location
Review 17:The room was very cold all night even though we had the heater on since we arrived! The bath room/cupboard was tiny, we had to turn the cold tap off to get any hot water which was a trickle.we ended up leaving and just going home in the small hrs.
Review 18:Tired and faded décor, crying out to be loved and restored.
Review 19:A cheap and cheerful room. Starched white table covers in the dining room overlooking the square in a beautiful highland town.
Review 20:The access to bedrooms was steep and in need of refurbishment. The rooms were cold - single glazed and heaters did not appear to work. The windows failed to keep out street sounds.
Review 21:The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was lovely and the beds were comfortable. The hotel was being refurbished. Hopefully this should correct some of the other issues.
Review 22:The breakfast was appalling and not what was described on menu. The bedroom was very simple, the shower did not reach an acceptable temperature to call warm and everything looked like it needed cleaned. Very simple & basic but pay for what you get.
Review 23:Location ideal
Review 24:The manager/man in charge was doing a fantastic job with very little help. He looks exhausted but was always pleasant and helpful. Value for money was exceptional (we stayed right at the end of October.) The room, though small and rather tired looking, was extremely clean , as were all other areas and the breakfast very good with lots of choice for cooked.
Review 25:We were under no illusions about the hotel due to the cost of the rooms, however, we would have expected slightly more attentive staff who looked frustrated and under pressure. This could have been down to a lack of staff or just a lack of care.
Review 26:Great location with visible efforts being made to update the décor and furniture in some of the rooms.
Review 27:noise at night from chip shop crowds across from hotel went on for a very long time.
Review 28:value for money, nice room and a very good breakfast ,and car park ,easy to find.
Review 29:In the family room there was nowhere other than the floor to boil the kettle. Mushrooms for breakfast resulted in a max of 2. Only a 4 slice toaster. Only muesli, no other cereals.
Review 30:Friendly and helpful welcome. Nice room. Comfortable single bed. Quiet. Breakfast was good.
Review 31:The first room they sent us to the main light and the light in the bathroom were both out of order. They immediately changed our room. In the next room there was only a bath and not a shower and the kettle was faulty.
Review 32:It was clean, wifi in our room but not in all of them, staff accommodated an extra hour in the morning to check out.
Review 33:Surprisingly there was no dewars in the evening bar :)
Review 34:Central location with parking on site next to walk to birks of Aberfeldy, staff helpful and friendly, hotel need some new carpets but it's fine in general for that price... No complaints
Review 35:The price of £10/night!!!! The location next to restaurants and amenities. The very clean adequate double room with tea/coffee and toiletries.
Review 36:We were situated above the entrance to the hotel there was a lot noise at the entrance very resting nights sleep . Breakfast could have been better .
Review 37:Location and value for money !
Review 38:No hot water in the morning; hotel has seen better days, but for this price I'm not complaining at all. Hope to be back!
Review 39:Excellent value, in the centre of Aberfeldy.
Review 40:I have stayed at the breadalbane before many years ago. The only thing I did not like is the sloping floors in some rooms.
Review 41:The staff were very good and took time out to talk to you. I also noticed how well they received people when they arrived.
Review 42:The en-suite door opened inwards not allowing much room within.
Review 43:The staff were outstanding, the food was outstanding, the room was clean and the bed very comfortable
Review 44:I left my jacket in the room I was in ... In the hotel.... On Sunday 20 th september ... But can't get a reply on phone or email ... Now have to travel back to Aberfeldy at the weekend. I hope my jacket is still there !!!!
Review 45:Friendly helpful staff ... Location ... Food and value for money
Review 46:Could not contact hotel no one answers phone very little English spoken one man on duty.or goto the desk unable to do bar food check people in booked table for food but served very late most of menu not available .no bed side lights 42 steps to our room my husband is 84 thin curtains noisy on front woken by traffic 6.00am I could go on and on !!a
Review 47:Nothing left after one night no refund for the 2 nights we had paid for no heater in room broken !
Review 48:Seemed to be no facility to contact this hotel by phone during the day - concerning as I was arriving quite late. Evening meal & breakfast were both of a very poor quality, especially the porridge, which was inedible. There seemed to be a acute shortage of staff. Only one person front of house in the evening & in the morning, one different person serving a busy breakfast room & trying to attend to front desk, as people were keen to check out.
Review 49:Easy to find in town centre.
Review 50:The room was the worst I have ever stayed in . Old and scabby beyond belief .
Review 51:The staff were European with no customer skills but had obviously been left to run this run down hotel single handily and tried there best .
Review 52:The room was grubby. Bed very uncomfortable, old mattress. Bathroom only had a net curtain for privacy, clear glass in the window! Room far to small to be considered a double. Front of drawer literally hanging of. Could not open the bathroom door properly as it bashed into the bed. No shower or attachment to wash my hair. No mirror in the bedroom. Breakfast was a huge let down. Stayed here often and it has really gone down hill. Room 25. While waiting to check out, 2 people were sitting through the back on a computer. Ignored me. I dumped key on the desk and left. Wont be back here again. Not worth the money I paid.
Review 53:Leaving
Review 54:everything, no key for our room, we were itching in the morning, think there were fleas or bed buds, very dated and grubby
Review 55:there was a lot of hot water
Review 56:Staff extremely grumpy over our late booking, unacceptable behaviour. Asked for porridge for breakfast, it was inedible. Other guests also complaining.
Review 57:Good location
Review 58:T.v in the window..cldnt close curtains properly and we faced into main road. bed lopsided..bedside cabinet broken. Shower did not drain away. Had to wait 20mins for hubby to use shower or wld overflow. Plug socket broken. I understand is under renovation but £70 shld not have been asked for..
Review 59:Staff very nice & friendly. Breakfast was prompt was plenty and fresh.
Review 60:More help needed at breakfast. Range of wifi very bad. Reception staff on arrival and departure could have been more warm and friendly.
Review 61:Breakfast was nice and the male waiter at breakfast friendly and helpful. Provisions in room very nice.
Review 62:Hotel needs upgrading.beds terrible.breakfast very poor quality.bar only open at 5 pm closed at 11 pm ,poor,no wi fit in rooms.all in all a very badly run hotel.outdated hotel run by armatures.
Review 63:The hotel bedrooms and corridors were badly in need of some TLC. Old and tatty although sheets were clean and bathroom spotless.
Review 64:The staff were really friendly and helpful. The hotel was cheap and breakfast was good.
Review 65:It said shower but my room only had a bath. The windows were single glazed and the music from the pub kept me awake. And every boy racer who drove past wanted to rev their way through Aberfeldy. The walls were paper thin so noisy neighbours didn't help.
Review 66:They looked after us as much as we required. Was up for the Etape and was adequate indoors.
Review 67:Decor was in need of a good bit of TLC. Curtains were frayed at edges for instance. Front door was closed at 11 pm and we were not warned about this. Came back from theatre in Pitlochry at 11:15 pm and were locked out! No hairdryer in room.
Review 68:Staff were friendly. Bedding was clean. Food was good.
Review 69:room very small, bar and reception staff not very friendly, very noise at night.
Review 70:the hotel was clean, and a good breakfast the breakfast staff was very good.
Review 71:We arrived late on Saturday and were concerned about the very loud music and merry-making coming from the bar. However the noise was barely audible in our room and stopped before very long. I suppose this is to be expected on a Saturday night and didn't spoil our stay
Review 72:Very friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast for us all. Our planned late arrival was managed by the staff without problem.
Review 73:Outside needing an inviting uplifting view. Would take nothing to look really great and gorgeous ! Owner / manager /smile please ! Would make all the difference
Review 74:Next to all facilities ie shops, pubs and eateries. New management / owner wants to bring back Scottish hospitality (I imagine? )
Review 75:Room very small and very close to next door walls so paper thin could hear their snoring.
Review 76:Travelling with small dog who was very welcome great location across from lovely park and breakfast nice full scottish recommended.
Review 77:new bathrooms are great, but the room decor still looks grubby.
Review 78:Stayed here several times in the past year. Bathrooms all seem to be new. Beds are comfy too. Brilliant value for money, works out around £30 a night each for bed and breakfast, and the breakfasts are lovely. Staff were all lovely.
Review 79:TV signal went off at 11pm and was still off in the morning. Room was facing the street which was noisy especially as there was a car rally in town. Other guests decided to have a party in the hallway until 11.30pm, then went to their rooms and continued to shout and scream until around 1am. The lounge is small and open to the bar so can be very noisy - not suitable for a quiet meal. The furniture in the rooms was dated, distressed and broken/marked. The bathroom has been refurbished but some fixtures were broken.
Review 80:Great breakfast, freshly prepared, hot and tasty, and included a vegetation option. Despite the other noisy guests we got a good nights sleep on a comfy bed.
Review 81:Carpets are not the cleanest and the hotel has a feel of being tired. Decoration and ambience is minimal. Sleep disturbed frequently by guests moving in corridors (floors creaking and doors banging) as well as noise of deliveries about 6am to shops across the street - I was in front of hotel. Reception and corridors smell of smoke.
Review 82:Hotel is located in town centre and easy reach of major road networks in all directions. Room was cheap and adequate for my purpose as I only wanted somewhere to sleep and shower. Bed was comfortable, albeit one thin duvet, and bathroom was clean. Breakfast was plentiful - haggis included in full breakfast.
Review 83:Room was very small. Shower wasn't great.
Review 84:Really good location. Plenty parking at back of Hotel. Rooms were clean and well equipped. Staff were nice. Breakfast was fine and service was good.
Review 85:no shower in the bathroom, TV made a buzzing noise when trying to watch, room small, had breakfast on the second day tock the full breakfast could not eat it as micro special. In all I would not return and would not say to my friends . Not a straight wall in the hotel.
Review 86:Bed was clean.
Review 87:Was called at 745 to ask where we were ,check in up to 10 pm .owner checked us in while eating.not professional we were at each end off the hotel and was told if i had requested to be togther on the booking i said it was both under my name but it didnt state we wanted to be close.Fire escape door held back by fire extinguishers totally useless incase of fire . .My friend had to use tradesman entrance to get to her room.Stairs and carpets are a health and saftey issuse. The cleaner was also cooking breakfast. my friend got a discount but it tottaly spoilt my weekend away aswell.wont be going back there. Shower wouldn't drain away could only shower at different times. my friend had a party going on next room when they and her 8 yr old was trying to sleep .water tank ran all night. breakfast staff trying to book us out as well as trying to serve breakfast 20 min wait to leave hotel.
Review 88:staff and breakfast .
Review 89:- Rooms were a little too small but bathroom was spacious - Room could have done with a lick of paint but this is reflected in price
Review 90:- Rooms were clean - Reasonably priced - Has a bar with pool table - Friendly staff - Good location - Nice breakfast
Review 91:Dated decor with a very old smell throughout , management very unhelpful , slow service in restaurant . Chicken bone in leek and potato soup , wrong order taking to table . Supposedly family-friendly but no facilities for an 11yr old in "family room " . All in all biggest waste of £103 ever , sadly never to be seen again .
Review 92:Checking out !
Review 93:rooms tiny - poor quality food at breakfast - unmanned reception waited ages for service.
Review 94:Tracy the breakfast waitress fabulous friendly person - would be far better at the front of house location of hotel was good shame about everything else
Review 95:the room was tiny, the woman who seated us at breakfast was the rudest, most unpleasant woman we have ever encountered in the service industry
Review 96:Aberfeldy and the multi-tasking waitress, the lady on reception
Review 97:The hotel is quite rundown & very dirty. I had to go out & buy bleach before my mother or I would use the bathroom in our room. Our carpet was not hoovered on arrival & not done the days we were there either. Everything seems grubby.
Review 98:Our beds were clean & very comfy. breakfast was ok. 1 poor girl seems to do everything, she was very nice. Other staff have no clue about customer service. Hotel was near some lovely walks.
Review 99:Rooms were tiny. Shower head attached, to small to manoeuvre . Windowsdidn't open, unless jammed open..ie book . Beer terrible. Tvdidn't work.no radio! Payment card facility not working.
Review 100:The location of the hotel was central and good. Breakfast was okay.
Review 101:This was the smallest double room I've ever had , don't know about swinging a cat but you couldn't get one in. The TV was ancient and hard to work. this room is not fit for purpose.
Review 102:The location.
Review 103:The Reception was never manned and the reception area and the public facilities were quite grimey and a bit smelly. The place needs some serious refubishment and redecoration, and new carpets. The room was absolutely tiny. It was difficult to get into the room in the first palce with my luggage. Luckily I was travelling alone, because the double room did not have enough room for two to easily share the space.
Review 104:The location of the Hotel was great and I needed somewhere in Aberfeldy which was easily accessible. The Shower room seemed very new and the shower was powerful.
Review 105:The price
Review 106:very clean and very freindly staff
Review 107:Amazing and historical building. Great relation quality / price. Wonderful village.
Review 108:Room size, decor,overall ambiance.

Review 112:Staff were lovely
Review 113:the hall and stair carpets are a bit ancient looking.
Review 114:good value for money, friendly welcome, recent shower room, central location, wifi.
Review 115:bed not so comfy. no shower in our room
Review 116:location, no problems, price
Review 117:EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY
Review 118:value for money
Review 119:central and location ideal.hotel priced well and food good
Review 120:No Bar and short opening hours for restaurant.
Review 121:Price and friendliness
Review 122:Room cleanliness,breakfast
Review 123:Facilities are basic, a bit old-fashioned, but clean and cheap.
Review 124:Old hotel, falling apart, no shower, wallpaper falling off walls, dirty.
