Reviews for Eastwell Manor Hotel, Spa & Golf

Review 1:I booked to stay inside the manor and not on a court yard that is about 800 yard from the main house and was very dark and the signage was non existent. i got there at the end helped by a waiter who was taking some drinks to other rooms.

Review 2:Big Room, Good quiet night sleep

Review 3:- No english beer on the tap - Room booked via booking.com (was not in main building which was not stated), but immediate upgrade given. - no wifi in the room

Review 4:- staff very helpful - breakfast fantastic - location beautiful - complimentary sherry drink in the room - well worth coming back to

Review 5:Very, very poor internet connection - virtually unuseable. Also, very poor mobile phone connection.

Review 6:Location, rooms, gardens all good - restaurant also not bad. The cottage provided was spacious and comfortable. Spa was quite good with a big pool.

Review 7:The place was very tired, with gaffer tape holding bits up in the breakfast room. We had to queue up for breakfast for half an hour. Most staff were very miserable and unfriendly apart from zac , the guy who picked us up in buggy , he was lovely and made up for rest of staff. Unbeknown to us we were put in shared cottage on our anniversary, my husband was not happy at all, no privacy and not even told

Review 8:The spa was very nice and relaxing.

Review 9:Although we had a suite, the shower was very difficult to adjust.

Review 10:Breakfast was the best ever. We have stayed once before, but on this occassion we were upgraded at no extra charge.

Review 11:The only point I didn't like, and it isn't anything to do with the staff and hotel, was that in the swimming pool, there was a huge group of women who weren't swimming but just standing about chatting. They got in the way of anyone who was actually trying to swim. Not sure what the point of using a pool if you are not going to swim is!!

Review 12:We stayed here on our wedding night and phoned the day before to ask if we could have late check out. Not only did they let us check out at 2pm, but we got a free room upgrade. The entire stay was amazing. Breakfast was incredible and cooking to order. Every staff member was friendly and said hello when they saw you. The spa facilities were wonderful. The entire stay was a delight and we didn't want to leave.

Review 13:Check style of accommodation with hotel first, third party website descriptions are inaccurate. Make sure the dinner menu cost options are explained to you properly, it was poorly explained to us

Review 14:Good location and general experience

Review 15:The little touches that they failed on were only having one robe and not the two, the sherry glasses were dirty when they should have been filled with complimentary liquid. The wifi was very hit and miss at gaining a ignal

Review 16:The spa facility was very good and relaxing. The view from our room was excellent over the extensive grounds. The Pavilion restaurant food was very good quality at a reasonable price. The king size poster bed was very comfortable.

Review 17:As we had a dog with us we wouldmos liked to know if we was able to walk the grounds with the dog, as we wasn't sure

Review 18:It was just perfect we went away for a break away after a sad time, and it was the perfect boost we needed, nothing to fault

Review 19:We stayed in the mews house and it was not very clean - dead flies on window sills and carpets

Review 20:Great location , beautiful Gardens and friendly staff . Breakfast was very good .

Review 21:They do not have a sign on the "back gate" which is where sat nav takes you, re-directing you to the entrance. We were lost, late at night in lanes for half an hour. The rooms and decoration of the whole hotel is tired, faded and in places grubby. Not worth £300 a night for sad room with lousy 1950s bathroom.

Review 22:The building & parklands are beautiful.

Review 23:The bowl of fruit was not fresh. The milk for the tea was rancid . The shower was a pathetic size in such a large bathroom.u

Review 24:Service &food was excellent

Review 25:Pavilion most tables at 2.30pm not cleared and this includes the outside seating area, The outside seating area at the manor the same poor to little service and no clearing of glasses etc.

Review 26:The Spa was good.

Review 27:The stay was spoilt by being woken up at 0600 by very noisy people above, who seemed to be stamping around on very creaky floor boards for the next 2 hours. We later found out that it was from the staff quarters. So, there was no excuse at all. There was no hot water at 0800 but it was fine after 10 minutes

Review 28:Stunning location and well trained, attentive staff.

Review 29:Not a conventional hotel as the Mews houses are the hotel rooms and a few minutes walk from the main building for breakfast, etc - not great when it's raining! Everything except the hotel rooms exudes luxury.

Review 30:The staff are exceptional and provide quality service. The main building and gardens are simply stunning, a real treat. Fabulous indoor and outdoor facilities including the spa

Review 31:Everything about this hotel was great. I was on business at Ashford and the countryside location with its proximity to the town was brilliant, Being able to swim in the pool or walk in the lovely gardens in the evening was great. Food in restaurant was good too.

Review 32:Nothing. Perfect.

Review 33:The accommodation was amazing. We thought we had booked a double room but it was a beautiful converted old stable. 2 bathrooms, couple of bedrooms, kitchen dinning room, living room.... Staff were lush, facilities were top notch, food was perfect, there was milk in the fridge and sherry on the table. They literally had everything covered. We'll be back.

Review 34:Breakfast was late delivered due to a large conference being in, which did pop us a little behind schedule preparing for our morning meeting.

Review 35:The staff and the venue were lovely. It would be really worthwhile spending more than 1 night at the property and using all the spa facilities.

Review 36:Did not appreciate the group of rude drunk people that greeted us rather than hotel staff. Had to wait in reception about 10 minutes waiting for someone.

Review 37:The room was lovely, comfortable bed. Room service late at night was helpful as we were bride and groom therefore arrived late.

Review 38:From the moment we arrived it was bliss, everything was made to feel as if we were special, nothing was too much trouble, it felt like we were on a two week break! not just a weekend. absolutely wonderful..

Review 39:Drinks in bar/restaurant very expensive.

Review 40:The welcoming touches such as open fires and sherry, fruit and water in the room. Lovely atmosphere genteel yet not too stuffy. Great breakfast in a beautiful setting.

Review 41:A great place to stay. Luxurious, with great thought going into making ones stay as comfortable as possible. Only sorry that my stay was just overnight. A wealth of facilities here and well worth the extra if you are able to make a proper stay of it.

Review 42:The bed was heavenly and did wonders for my aching back. The room was lovely and full of character ,as was the hotel itself. The staff were attentive and friendly.

Review 43:For such high calibre surroundings and facilities the food in therestaurant and pavillion was mediocre. I'd hire top chefs forpromotion evenings. The room was dusty - window sills and frames andcurtain poles. The pool side near jaccuzi had a bad smell, some tileswere lifted.

Review 44:The Manor building is fantastic -drenched in history, lit open fires, beautiful grounds and gardens, picturesque countryside and modern spafacilities.

Review 45:My only complaint is as a smoker it would have been nice to have a covered area but the staff were very helpful and procured a brolly for a table outside

Review 46:Minor points but cold water pressure to bath very poor so took a long time to run it to right temperature. Also there were only 4 tea bags in the room and only 4 milk sachets. The complimentary sherry fruit and water compensated for this though!

Review 47:Beautiful big room with four poster bed and view over the gorgeous gardens. Staff all friendly and helpful.Great cooked breakfast.

Review 48:Both my dinner companion thought the dinner menu was very limited and the food very average for the price. Tuesday morning at breakfast I found some of the staff rather intrusive I suppose they thought they were doing their job !!! I also would have liked an itemised bill so I could check all the expenses.

Review 49:I thought the situation of the hotel was magnificent, on the Monday evening the staff were excellent and I enjoyed some great wine.

Review 50:Beautifully appointed manor house with all the fairytale extras of Christmas i.e. trees festooned both inside and outside with coloured lights, baubles, etc. Open roaring log fires. The ride in a buggy from the Manor House to the Pavilion Restaurant where we ate and where we were entertained by Lisa who sang and played on the saxaphone.

Review 51:Pavilion restaurant food not that good, Salad with my mind course was past its sell by date. Comment from the waiter chef said sorry about that, not the sort of quality you would expect!! Rooms need to be updated.

Review 52:Hotel staff were pleasant spa facilities were good. Grounds are lovely.

Review 53:Only one negative experience and that was the fine dining. I was expecting the food to be excellent and I found it average at best, awful at worst. Would not do the fine dining again. I think the Pavilion restaurant would have been better.

Review 54:Excellent hotel. Loved the room, the grounds and the spa. The staff were really nice and we had an excellent time.

Review 55:The pool complex was a little tired. Also somewhat tired was the decor in our cottage - one armchair was worn through to it's stuffing.

Review 56:Cosy mews cottage in spacious grounds and gardens of country manor. Comfortable bed, good room service and breakfast, quiet and self contained accomodation.

Review 57:Initial bedroom (Nottingham), though furnished well, was noisy and stuffy due to Kitchen ventilators and noise. Problem was dealt with very well. Lift out of action.

Review 58:Polite and efficient staff. Superb furnishing and comfort. Good food, especially the breakfast. A fantastic Hotel

Review 59:Bedroom and Bathroom were not cleaned at all during the day, we had to keep asking but we had to get ready for the evening without the bed made and with no clean towels. Eventually the room was cleaned while we were out but it was disappointing. The soft furnishings in the cottage were rather worn and shabby looking

Review 60:Surroundings, easy location which made you feel you were cocooned and a lot further away from home or main road, no traffic noise, meals and service at meals and most of the facilities. Quiet and peaceful

Review 61:Stained carpet and peeling wallpaper in the entrance to the Bluebell cottage, not what I would expect for a "boutique hotel". Many loose stones along the paths, not ideal for wheelchair movement.

Review 62:Mature helpful staff, beautiful gardens, peaceful surroundings

Review 63:The only downside was to do with the spa... there were only a few lounge chairs around the pool and every time we went they were all covered in towels but we never saw them occupied, so we never had an opportunity to sit and read round the pool. Perhaps the management should consider a policy regarding this?

Review 64:We came to Eastwell to escape an ongoing building project at home that has left us without a bathroom for a few weeks and wanted somewhere easy to get to from South London with a pool and jacuzzi so we could soak ourselves till we turned all pruney. Job done! Beautiful house and grounds, impeccable staff, first class food- we felt that Manor restaurant was a bit pricey at approx £27 for a main dish, so we had a lovely supper in the Pavilion restaurant, and the breakfast was excellent, all local produce and freshly squeezed juices. The pool and spa area was lovely and peaceful, even on a rainy bank holiday weekend. Our room was in one of the mews cottages, which was delightful, and kept us out of the way of the wedding party in the main house. Brollies are provided for going to and from the house. We played croquet and had tea on the terrace - we now have our go-to weekend escape.

Review 65:I felt like there was space for improvement in the suite - little touch ups which were needed. Nothing that will put you off or even ruin the stay - just enough to affect the overall score of the most attentive ones.

Review 66:You can't go wrong with the natural beauty of the Manor, its fields, swimming pools and spa - these definitely score a solid 9 out of 10. It's all you can wish for a relaxed countryside escape. Extremely attentive staff.

Review 67:If a property cannot provide items (e.g. kippers) listed on its breakfast menu, then it should not list list them. Second, it should not have servers state that the item will be available next day and then be forced to make another excuse that the item "has not yet been delivered'. Third, the property should not provide as a substitute slices of smoked salmon with scrambled eggs on the first day and then a form of scrambled egg/salmon hash the second day (the guest will think the stock of salmon is close to being exhausted as well). Fourth, the coffee was uniformly bad --- brown coloured hot water. The bathroom of "Sir Richard Hale" needs prompt attention (and this was brought to the notice of a staff member); the wallpaper is peeling both at a corner join and at the top and bottom of the wall where the entrance is located. The corner join looks as if an enthusiastic, inexpert do-it-yourselfer did the wallpapering. Waiting three to four minutes for the water in the shower to achieve normal hot shower temperature is wasteful of both a natural resource (water) and a guest's time. There is evidence of deferred maintenance (e.g. fraying upholstery on chairs; noticeable chips on chairs - possibly through stacking; uneven/broken paving).

Review 68:The accommodation (Sir Richard Hale room , next to Queen Victoria) was well furnished and the bed very comfortable. The delivery and quality of food at the wedding we attended was of a very high standard. The room brochure makes it quite clear that the current property dates from the early 20th century - there is no misrepresentation on that score.

Review 69:A couple of small things. There were 2 doors in the room which were not locked, which could have given anyone access. - Someone tried to gain access via the front door, as we were getting ready to go out we were unable to open the door and see who this was.

Review 70:The staff, facilities and room all exceeded expectations.

Review 71:Our room was much more basic than I thought it would be, considering it cost £185 for one night. There were complimentary bottles of water, a bowl of fruit, small decanters of wine and sherry, but the room was very basic. The cleanliness of the room wasn't great and neither was the shower. All in all though, the only negatives were to do with the room which we spent very little time in!

Review 72:Loved the manor and the grounds; was so peaceful. Liked the use of the facilities at The Pavilion, especially after checking out of the room. The dinner in the Manor Restaurant was absolutely exquisite and breakfast was just as good! Majority of staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 73:I didn't like the rooms in the outbuildings so much.... Carpets were rather worn and dirty and carpet needed hoovering . I found the staff not overly polite or that helpful !

Review 74:The spa was very good and the grounds .. The food was expensive but very good.

Review 75:Our room was in the mews, which came as a surprise; maybe I did not readthe booking.com presentation well; but room, with separateliving/dining room, wa excellent (luckily nobody in the secondbedroom...)

Review 76:Great, quickly after Eurotunnel, at the start of a trip through ukwonderful property, with nice golf, huge piscine, atmospheric cocktailand dining halls

Review 77:Although the staff were very friendly on arriving at the hotel we had booked afternoon tea and after checking in they suggested having the afternoon tea before we were shown to our room and around which was nice. But then we were left and forgotten about and waited half an hour for the menus to arrive as they said they would so we finally got the attention of the only waiter who was very apologetic and our menus came promptly. In our package breakfast was included which you could have between 7-10am we arrived for 9am and again we were shown to our table but then they seemed to forget we were there after 20minutes we had to ask for teas and coffees then once that was brought over we were able to order and there wasn't much left what so ever not even bowls on the buffet table for cereal so again we had to ask. Apart from that we had a very enjoyable stay at eastwell manor and next time we know to arrive earlier for the breakfast.

Review 78:We had a lovely relaxing break staying in the mews cottages which were lovely. It Beautiful grounds here and we were lucky with the weather on our stay so we were able to fully enjoy the outside.we had a pins afternoon tea which was very yummy in a nice sitting room style setting the staff were very friendly and attentive on arrival. The pool was amazing it was very large had A jacuzzi pool and a smaller round pool that also had a bubble button so was like a large jacuzzi and there were steam rooms too, we had it to ourselves so we were very lucky! Would definitely visit again! The location is Very near the Ashford outlet which was nice for something to do during the day :) we left feeling refreshed!
