Reviews for Hotel de Ville
Review 1:Quick and easy to sign in, the staff very friendly in the bar as were the locals. I came down to surprise my mother during christmas and new year, as she was down in ramsgate staying with relatives. Picked this hotel as it was very close to where my mum was staying (10 min walk) and was very cheap. The room was very clean and the beds were clean and freshly made and the towels in the bathroom were also clean and very soft. Plenty of complimentary tea and coffee and also shower gel/shampoo. for the price i paid staying here for 2 nights it was a bargain and i wont hesitate to stay here again when visiting relatives.
Review 2:It's was in a good location to were I needed to be place was clean and welcoming you got decent pillows and they filled the tea and coffe up I would stay there again and tell others as well good for your money
Review 3:The children's beds in the family room wouldn't suit anyone over about 6yrs as they are light camp style ones
Review 4:Staff were friendly and very quick to help. Clean and very quiet.
Review 5:Rooms needed improvements, family room should come with double instead of singles and needs to be cleaned better than what it was,
Review 6:The staff and the bar area
Review 7:Didnt change towels, we had to try and dry them in the room. By the end of the five days we were there they were filthy.
Review 8:Location Friendly staff Nice room Nice view of the sea Good tele
Review 9:Very clean room.bathroom facilities pretty new with excellent power shower.only 10 min walk to harbour front. Very good cafe across the road for breakfast
Review 10:Took money before we saw the room. Access without going through the bar was out of order - door handle/lock broken. Milk sachets had gone off. Toilet seat broken. No staff available on check-out. Uncomfortable atmosphere for my mother-in-law to stay in.
Review 11:Easy to book on line
Review 12:No breakfast or any food served at all and the beds were slightly dated and uncomfortable
Review 13:The location was brilliant 5mins walk to the pier 10mins from harbour , also located within a pub so was nice to be allowed to bring drinks back to room
Review 14:Door we were shown to get in after hours (11:10pm) was broken. It was only after we found what we think were off duty staff that we got in through another door - leading us in through the kitchen - otherwise we may well have spent the night on the street.
Review 15:Quiet location.
Review 16:Comfort very low on list of priorities. Bed quite hard, very hot no ac or fan so u had to open windows wide, heavy curtains in midsummer
Review 17:Friendly staff, close to town
Review 18:It would have been good to have info about wifi?? and if there was availability for b/fast, it could gave been a simple help yourself thing. The girl who showed us the room was friendly but had only just started so didn't have any details.
Review 19:The room and facilities in the room were good.
Review 20:Just avoid the family room - which is just under the pub and a pool table (no chance for the kids to fall asleep before 11 p.m.). In general the room was paper-thin so we have not slept a wink (so do not forget your earplugs unless you want to know the sexlife of your neighbours) and unfortunately not very clean. We have had a nightmare stay but the rooms on the higher floors might be different. No breakfast.
Review 21:Nothing straight in the room.Bed linen- we had doubts, if that been changed after guests before us. I think, white bed linen would be much better.
Review 22:Views from the window.
Review 23:Hotel is very noisy. You can hear a lots from other rooms.Room was clean but mattress was awful. There was big hole like if there was elephant sleeping before us.And it was soft and any move was making noise.Wondering why owner doesn't care about such a basic thing.
Review 24:Only good thing was the good price.
Review 25:There were no reception facilites in the early morning - however not surprising since this was a pub with rooms above it.
Review 26:Hotel is only short walk from Station and central Ramsgate. Staff were helpful - room clean and tidy Keys provided so that you could enter by a side door. Very good value for money
Review 27:I know you get what you pay for, but surely they could try and fix the damp smell in the corridors and stairs. It reminded me of a damp flat I used to live in as a student. The woman who showed me the room was a bit brisk and matter of fact in her manner.
Review 28:It was in a good location and was reasonably priced.
Review 29:I did not know what to expect staying above a pub in Ramsgate. We were nicely surprised. The room was very nice with sea view and the pub below was very friendly. Ideally situated between the train station and the sea front.
Review 30:listening to the racking cough that my neighbour had. Room squeezed in 2 beds, there was no floor space. I needed a table to work at, but nothing there or anywhere else. Asking about breakfast, I was directed to cafe along the road, making the cost equal to competing hotels.
Review 31:It was a pub.
Review 32:Shower and toilet were a little bit cramped.
Review 33:10 minute walk from rail station and about 5 from town centre. Comfortable and friendly place to stay. Very good value. Clean room and bathroom.
Review 34:The stuff was very nice and we felt very welcome. We had a twin room on second floor, clean, decent size with a bath. The pub below didn't bother us.
Review 35:Probably the bed, but not really a blocker In the morning no option for breakfast
Review 36:The price was good as I didn't want to spend too much. It's a pub hotel.
Review 37:only thing that was a bit of a let down was the shower (had to run around to get wet ) could also do with a mirror in room as well as bathroom and a hairdryer
Review 38:staff comfort location
Review 39:My phone signal did not work in my room for anything but texts, and even that was not consistent.
Review 40:A very comfortable, functional room ten minutes walk from the harbour front. Pleasant and helpful staff, a little noisy in the evenings but reasonable considering there was a nice and social pub above the room. Fantastic shower, water pressure and temperature just right.
Review 41:- We should have been informed of the big noise to come, even if it was late to inform us (we still could have cancelled). - 4 bed room: both added beds were much than basic, like a camp-bed. - It was not so easy to connect at wifi but we got it randomly.
Review 42:- On a saturday, because it was very noisy at the back room of the hotel (party) until midnight, the boss purposed giving us back 20£ on 60£ (and a beer). Because we had already all our stuff in the room, we did not want to move so we accepted the deal. - A 4 bed room. - Not so far from the sea by foot. - Nice place. - Free parking spaces just on the road, we could have a view on the car.
Review 43:Bathroom light and extractor fan did not work. Slightly musty smell. Didn't like the bar scene not for my friend and I.
Review 44:In Ramsgate for a family "do" needed a bed for the night. Hotel De Ville fitted the bill and location for us was good. The room was fine, did the job. Tea and coffee welcome. Did not take breakfast so can't comment on food. Would not have wanted to eat in the bar though. Staff friendly and helpful
Review 45:No breakfast, which I knew when booking & WiFi was fine in the bar & outside but in my room on third floor it didn't work at all.
Review 46:Very basic but welcoming.....
Review 47:Did not like the mix up over the booking (this was sorted out quickly), or the lack of a lift. This lack should be mentioned in the details.
Review 48:Liked the location and the price. Beds were clean and comfortable.
Review 49:Downstair rooms have noise from pub bar overhead. However the noise stopped by eleven o'clock and was silent from then on.
Review 50:Price, convenience to town and roadside parking. Rooms are a little old fashioned and basic but spotlessly clean. Good bathroom with plenty of hot water and shower over the bath.
Review 51:Cleanliness was not the best point. We had to move the beds and found disgusting things below. Also marks over the furniture of cups, which is not too bad but you know... The shower was really small and it needs a good clean of the dampness stains. If that was sorted out, the hotel would be quite good. Wifi coverage too low in the rooms.
Review 52:The room was ok, comfortable beds and bathroom ok though small. Not too much noise so we could sleep well. The location is not bad, you can get to the shore line in 10-15 minutes. Good if you are in a budget.
Review 53:We stayed 2 nights, Friday and Saturday. The Friday we got there andwere in a family room, 2 single beds and 2 creaky old camp beds. We werewoken up several times by people shouting above us, there is a bar/pub upstairs that shuts at around 1am. Walls are paper thin! Saturdaynight they had a live band on until 12 am that might aswell have been inthe room with us! Needless to say we didn't sleep until after thistime. This isn't just one of those reviews from a complainer!I'm 25 and like a party as much as the next person but this was ajoke. Do not book here!!!!!!
Review 54:Very noisy late at night. Moving furniture accross the floors above our room when you have small children is not good. Very difficult to sleep with so much noise.
Review 55:The room was very clean and presentable. Shower was lovely and powerful. Tea and coffee facilities in room was good. Easy access to our room via back entrance was also very good.
Review 56:This is a community pub not a hotel and this should be made clear. I have no problem staying in these places when I am working but my wife's face was a picture when we walked into the bar to check in.
Review 57:Clean room with Wi-fi and decent beds and shower. Ideal for a function we were attending at the Churchill Tavern.
Review 58:Unfriendly welcome. The first thing the landlord said to me was £60 quid. Only access to get out of the hotel in the morning was via a fire exit and a tight squeeze with our bags along an alley.
Review 59:Difficulty in locating my booking! This is a pub (noisy with band) rather second rate.
Review 60:Gave me their 'best' room! Not too far from seafront and o bus route from station. Seemed quite clean but very much in need of refurbishment
Review 61:Work in progress on exterior of building at that time. A bit noisy in the morning.
Review 62:Good value for money. Comfortable room. Bus stop near by. Not far from railway station and beach front
Review 63:Could do with a full length mirror as there's only one in the bathroom but only a small concern. Slamming doors a bit annoying but normal for most hotels, just take ear plugs!
Review 64:Central location, basic but all you need when you're on a budget. A cheap, clean and comfortable hotel. A bit noisy with doors slamming but this happens in most hotels with the fire doors.
Review 65:The building was under construction at the time we visited which we was unaware of. Being woken up at 7:30 every morning by some guy doing the roofing was not pleasant!
Review 66:Greeted by really friendly staff when we got there, who kindly showed us to our room and informed us of any events happening at the pub downstairs through the week
Review 67:Asked to pay before seeing room. Black mould in the bathroom and shower head was filthy. Clearly no staff in the hotel at night so if a problem had arisen there would have been no resolution
Review 68:Beds comfortable and clean.quiet at night. The hotel is undergoing a refurbishment on the exterior so perhaps my negative comments should be taken with that in mind
Review 69:Noise from other rooms' extractor fans kept me awake because of thin walls/floors between rooms. They go on whirring away for a long time even if someone has just used the toilet or gone out and left the toilet light on. They can be turned off by a switch over the door but I myself discovered that. I know that they need to work when a shower's been used but should not be running for so long at any other time. I guess that most people wouldn't care or know how to switch the fan off as I did. Also, there was a lot of noise one morning before 7am when the adjoining pub was throwing empty beer barrels up from the cellar onto the street. On arrival & being shown to my room by a bar staff girl, she failed to show me how to get out of the building. However, overall good value.
Review 70:Shower/ toilet was excellent, room clean & access easy.
Review 71:Old rooms and dirty outside the windows. Room was hot (but it was summer)
Review 72:Location and friendliness of the staffs. Good quality bed and great view looking at the seaside from the top floor
Review 73:No breakfast, access to rooms through pub bar, window view blocked by old mattress propped up outside (they were having building work done, but still not v good).
Review 74:Helpfulness of staff, early booking in allowed, excellent value for money
Review 75:Very basic. No hair dryer, room not properly cleaned every day and towels not changed. I hadn't realised when I booked that it was a pub, I had thought it was an hotel from the name. It is a sports pub and we had a room in the basement. It was no problem, just a surprise!
Review 76:Not far from beach, a short walk to town centre, several small cafés near. Price very good. Room clean.
Review 77:Our room was up 5 flights of stairs which got narrower at the top (or seemed to). The pool table (one of the reasons for booking there) was put to one side and covered up as there was a function in the evening. There were two single beds rather than a double.
Review 78:It had a good shower. The TV worked OK. Parking was OK. It was not noisy.
Review 79:Privacy, comfortable, warm, very clean, good TV good amenities.
Review 80:The family room was big and clean.
Review 81:N/a
Review 82:If was suprisingly quiet
Review 83:The location is great very quiet but near town staff are lovely room was great and really good value for money definitely will recommend.
Review 84:The distance from the nearest available parking space. Very few parking space on the nearby streets, they were nearly all taken throughout my stay.
Review 85:Beds were awful - uncomfortable and one was broken . Staff appeared indifferent to our complaint won't return
Review 86:Location only
Review 87:Small room. Tired decor. No mirror in bedroom.
Review 88:Reasonable price.
Review 89:Dusty and carpet not hovered.
Review 90:The worst hotel I have ever stayed at
Review 91:The door out of it
Review 92:No breakfast
Review 93:The location and late night entrance.
Review 94:Staff is kind and position is great and well connected with transportation.
Review 95:Staff were friendly but facilities were very basic.
Review 96:Need to leave room by 10.30. Would have prefered 11am.
Review 97:Very helpful staff
Review 98:Loved staying here and will do again - great value for money and exactly what I needed for my stay
Review 99:Very dated.

Review 104:Nice staff Clean
Review 105:little bit noisy up above us but it was a bar
Review 106:It was a nice big room bathroom clean plenty of towels, tea coffee and sugar over all very nice.
Review 107:All good
Review 108:Nice staff
Review 109:no full length mirror in room
Review 110:comfortable beds clean white sheets clean white towels good quality and plenty of them
Review 111:Cleanliness of room was poor. Very dusty and only 1 tv channel
Review 112:Advertised with food, bar staff have said chef got sacked and there is no replacement.
Review 113:Comfortable room, no problems during our 5 night stay. Recommend if you want good value and basic accommodation near the centre of Ramsgate.
Review 114:Everything was great! Friendly people, nice breakfast and nice room!
Review 115:too many stairs to rooms small rooms very basic facilities

Review 118:It was clean
Review 119:Was the ideal location for me as I only had a 5 minute walk to we're i needed to go
Review 120:No breakfasts (were told @ time of booking) 2 rooms were on different levels.
Review 121:Comfortable & clean room. Helpful staff.
Review 122:Shabby and much too small. Not even a chair in the room or a hanger for your clothes.
Review 123:Nothing
Review 124:Excellent value, Top Hotel.

Review 126:Location Friendly staff
