Reviews for Loch Fyne Restaurant And Milsoms Hotel
Review 1:Finding the place in driving rain was difficult, finding parking was even more so - I was given bad directions both times I phoned from my car. I waited / wasted 20-25 minutes to get the attention of the manager to check me in despite asking 2 of the restaurant staff, pressing the bell at receptions, and eventually going to find and fetch the manager! Very poor show. And no apology, just a curt explanation that he was busy with another customer (in the restaurant!) The bathroom is set up like a cheap hotel in Europe where the lights switch off after five minutes and you have to wave your arms to get them back on again - a trick when showering or using the facilities. A TV the size of a PC laptop screen on the other side of the room added up to an unusual stay. Breakfast was mediocre. I hope the restaurant side of the business makes enough money as that is where their attention is The view from my window was a brick wall about 4 feet away.
Review 2:Shame the en-suite in the bedroom had an automatic light and fan switch which could not be overridden. The light shone over the bed waking the other person up when the facilities were used during the night
Review 3:Excellent breakfast
Review 4:The hotel room was clean and well appointed. We stayed in room 2 which is on the ground floor under the stairs so it was quite dark and noisy when people came home at night. Overall a good hotel with lots of parking. To access the car park , if you pass the hotel on your left. Turn left. You will pass the exit to the car park then next left and it takes you to the car park at the back.
Review 5:Loch fyne restaurant was excellent for seafood. Try the scallops pears and haggis. The kitchen is open and very well organised. All the seafood looked excellent. The service was attentive but not over the top.
Review 6:Hallways can be a bit noisy if someone arrives late at night, as in any older building.
Review 7:Cozy and enjoyable place. Nice breakfast provided and the seafood restaurant is reliable so there's no need to go out.
Review 8:nothing, disappointed I didnt book for two nights so we could have had a look around Kenilworth but will do next time
Review 9:Everything about this hotel was perfect, we came new years eve had a meal in the restaurant which was delicious, the bedroom was spotless and the bed was really comfortable and to top it off the breakfast was great too. A really great hotel. Thank you.
Review 10:Nice, albeit small, room. Very clean, high end facility and furnishings. Very charming and indicative of actual history to 1600's yet mostly modern and comfortable. The restaurant is very good, and the free breakfast on our package was truly delicious, a level beyond the ordinary freebie.
Review 11:Bedroom scatter cushions were stained. Bathroom tiles had areas of mildew, ceiling was stained from a water leak. Bedroom window had a large area of mildew in the corner. Only regular tea provided in the room, no herbal or green.
Review 12:Good breakfast selection and very well cooked. Really nice staff. Bar/restaurant/lounge areas well furnished. Parking.
Review 13:toilet seat was loose and kept moving when sat on.
Review 14:being able to have the family we were visiting to be able to join us for breakfast which was a very relaxed event due to the excellent staff
Review 15:Room was behind Reception and people could be heard talking until 12.30. Woken again at 3.30 by a man talking.
Review 16:Comfortable bed and excellent breakfast.
Review 17:Bar surfaces sticky to the touch as was our table in the restaurant at breakfast. No cappuccino available due to shortage of milk.
Review 18:Location & price good. Nice property & all facilities in the rooms.
Review 19:walking through a group of kitchen staff smoking at entrance to hotel can't somewhere else be found
Review 20:staff most caring kenilworth is a beautiful place
Review 21:Bar don't open late we came in at 11.00 had close went over the road
Review 22:Great place for Kenilworth centre and restaurants. Set in the old part of Kenilworth and friends had not been to Kenilworth before Good place to view castle Friends loved the breakfast
Review 23:night porter locked doors at 10.45 so we had to walk in rain to front of hotel from carpark
Review 24:breakfast was very good and well presented very helpful staff
Review 25:Beautifully presented hotel that seems to have been renovated recently. Great location for visiting sights in Kenilworth, and quite good for visits to Coventry, Leamington and Warwick too.
Review 26:the service in the restaurant was slow the staff were not very attentive, luckily we were not in a rush.... they also didn't seem to know the area so for the hotel this was a negative as we were wanting to book taxi's for the evening and ended up finding out for ourselves
Review 27:room was a good size the location was great.
Review 28:Breakfast. Tomato missed off my wife's breakfast, which was luke warm, I had a piece of bacon delivered later as this had been missed off, was not able to swap chorizo for a tomato!!! Staff in restaurant abrupt, serving us appeared to be a chore.
Review 29:Room was immaculate, bed comfortable and quiet location.
Review 30:We were sorry that we were refused a drink from the bar at 23.02, despite discovering later from the info in the room that the bar would be open to us until midnight.
Review 31:Disabled access is impossible without someone to help assist. It is not possible for a wheelchair user to get to the reception without someone to help them get up the steps. Even the disabled "accessible" room was not easily accessible as steps needed to be navigated.
Review 32:Staff were fantastic. Location was amazing.
Review 33:Breakfast was poor; incorrect order brought. Only one rasher of bacon. Coffee limited to if waiter nearby
Review 34:Fish restaurant good Larger towels than usual get
Review 35:Only for the restaurant. They ran out of crab and seabass ! Apart from this absolutely nothing !
Review 36:Staff excellent. Rooms Lovely and clean. Breakfast Fab. Perfect. Would definately stay again.
Review 37:Staff were not attentive (might be due to us staying on a Sunday). Kettle in the room was a little old and smelly!
Review 38:Very comfy bed with great breakfast in the morning.
Review 39:Room in the annexe access off car park. Only one window opened unfortunately near where some staff go outside to smoke with loud conversation.
Review 40:Pleasant staff. Excellent food. Good sized room.
Review 41:Kenilworth,high street was very pretty lovely to walk up and down lots of great cottages to look at.Also great castle to walk around, and a fantastic tea shop for homemade cake's and coffee.
Review 42:Room a bit small, but was adequate
Review 43:Warm, clean, nicely decorated, very friendly staff, very quiet, easy parking, easy to find. Best of all was fantastic breakfast!
Review 44:N/a
Review 45:Absolutely beautiful little place. Rooms perfect... Cosy manager very helpful and accommodating. And dinner in restaurant superb and the lovely French waiter was ?? very good service and would recommend and go again.
Review 46:if anything pricey on the drinks so went to ghe pub opposite
Review 47:hotel was lovely friendly staff nice room food was great my husbands first lobster thermador and got his oysters free because they were his first ones he tried location was brill 10mins from coventry warwick and lemington spa
Review 48:Breakfast was very slow, it stood under the heated lamps for ages and although initially warm it had started to dry out. Service at Breakfast was not what I would call friendly.
Review 49:Almost all. Had a good nights sleep. Friendly staff in the hotel.
Review 50:Nothing
Review 51:Huge comfortable bed; good quality bed linen; quiet room; fantastic breakfasts which you see being cooked. Location is in the heart of old Kenilworth near to the Abbey Fields and Kenilworth Castle
Review 52:We would have liked to have been notified during booking that the rooms were being renovated and would have stayed after completion our windows were boarded up due them being painted but this was not a problem as the room was well lit up scaffold was set up around the hotel but no work was done during unsociable hours so this too was not really an issue or caused our stay any less delightful
Review 53:The location is in the heart of the town making ease for travel to local facilities bars and resteraunts very friendly staff.
Review 54:Front of hotel faces busy junction and you do get quite a bit of noise from it. Not keen on the idea of being 'sent round again' after arriving at 2.45pm and being told to come back later as the room was being 'deep cleaned'.
Review 55:The room was quite 'period' with beams and plasterwork. Room faced the road so we got fresh air, bed was comfortable.
Review 56:Not enough parking space when busy, my friend had to park down the road and had to get his car moved by 8am.
Review 57:All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar area also had a nice atmosphere and did seem to have plenty of choice.
Review 58:Portion size of the Pork Belly main was rather poor, leaving me still hungry after my main.
Review 59:Room was comfortable and very good value. Breakfast was particularly good in the Loch Fyne restuarant.
Review 60:Would have liked a bath in room but only had small shower. Breakfast disappointing.
Review 61:A good basic hotel with clean facilities. Nothing fancy but good for an overnight stay. Nice to be next to Restaurant. I would use again.
Review 62:When we arrived it took some time for staff to find our booking and it seemed that someone else had been booked into the room allocated to us. In the event we were given the room below the stairs and whilst this was large and clean it was very noisy, the TV signal was poor and the automatic light/fan in the bathroom very irritating.
Review 63:It was near to the location we wanted to visit and in the historical part of Kenilworth. The room was large and the bar staff very helpful. There was a great choice of breakfast and it was very good quality food.
Review 64:There was no remote control for the tv and the shower curtain was inadequate and water was too warm for cleaning teeth. Service in the restaurant was poor.
Review 65:The hotel is lovely
Review 66:My room was at the end of what seemed a rabbit warren! And although clean, pipe in bathroom dripped all night and fan was so loud you couldn't enjoy a relaxing bath. Staff friendy though but it wasn't worth £85!
Review 67:It seems that all the bedrooms are on the small side - quite claustrophobic. Bathroom came with a selection of different hairs none of which belonged to us.
Review 68:Fantastic location on the Old High Street
Review 69:Hotel decor dated and carpets worn, corridor doors dirty. Kettle in room ancient and limescaley. Only de caf coffee in the room. Bed tilting downhill so sleeping head down, we turned the pillows the other end for the second night. TINY room. Only just enough room to walk around the bed. Paper thin walls. Such a dissapointment for a supposedly 4* establishment.
Review 70:Friendly staff. Good food. Private car park.
Review 71:A great place for a stopover, great food and especially nice breakfast at Loch Fyne (as ever), though they did struggle to provide Gluten free bread rolls. Good location for exploring Kenilworth Castle and Kenilworth High Street if you don't mind a 10-15 minute walk across the park. Lovely patisserie a few doors up the high street and a characterful pub over the road.
Review 72:I can not go back there as I live in Australia
Review 73:The accommodation was brilliant, the staff were friendly, the food was excellent. One of the best hotels I have stayed in. The breakfast was to die for.
Review 74:Our room had an extractor fan in the ceiling space which we could not turn off and ran constantly. It was extremely annoying, my husband slept with a cushion over his head!
Review 75:The hotel was ideally placed, the staff were all very helpful and pleasant.
Review 76:The room was very small and we felt for the money it should have been bigger also there was no milk or sugar in the room, and had to ask each day for some from the restaurant.
Review 77:The staff were lovely and the food in the restaurant and service was fantastic.
Review 78:On arrival given room 6 facing directly onto main high street with pub directly opposite .The girl at reception who I understood was actually a member of the management team was very helpful when I explained I would prefer a quieter located room and happily changed my room for no 25. After soaking in a lovely hot bath I settled into bed ...... HOWEVER almost straight away I realised from the noise heard this room was actually situated directly above restaurant and of course every movement below could be heard from tables chairs being dragged about music playing and constant voices heard. Not for anyone seeking a peaceful room! There was also traffic noise from the main road running along the side of hotel. Finally In the am two members of staff stood directly outside my door chatting as cleaning / laudery cupboard opposite. I strongly suggest the particular member of the management team spends a night herself in room 25.
Review 79:Clean comfortable room Good location to explore surrounding area
Review 80:That is the worst sea food restaurant I have eaten in. Sat by the kitchen watched them microwave the sauces and it wasn't busy, it does the Loch Fyne name no credit
Review 81:Breakfast was great, and the location was perfect
Review 82:Unfortuately smell in bathroom of mould/sweat upset an otherwise enjoyable stay. This was a return visit on the basis of a previous good experience here.
Review 83:Breakfast was poor, two items missing from loch fyne breakfast. Staff not telling us first so couldn't change mind. Cutlery and milk not available at buffet table.
Review 84:Location and evening meal
Review 85:The automatic light and fan in the bathroom is a pain. If two people in the room the other will get disturbed by it. Also could do with thicker curtains to blank out the street lights.
Review 86:Excellent food. Make sure your try the oysters!! Room compact but comfortable
Review 87:Comfortable bed, charming staff and the most amazing breakfast EVER! Milsom's Loch Fyne breakfast menu is one of the best I've ever seen, and will bring me back again. Superb smoked haddock, delicious kippers - and PERFECT bread for toast. What a magical way to start a Sunday!!!!!
Review 88:Great value for money - comfortable room, superb choice at breakfast in the Loch Fyne restaurant area and the location is superb...surrounded by lots of great pubs and near the Castle
Review 89:Room was small - hairs in shower / bath - not our own yuk! Room 6 at top of stairs quite noisy. Restaurant very disappointing - Lobster Spaghetti with no lobster in it! Over-cooked prawns swimming in pond of oil and butter no! Breakfasts should have been good but COLD! Porridge was nice. Nowhere to park due to staff cars taking many parking spaces. Could be very good but too random at present. Shame because great location and character.
Review 90:Lovely location in old part of Kenilworth - almost like a village high street. Lots of old buildings and full of character. Short walk from newer part of town. Most staff were friendly, young and enthusiastic.
Review 91:Sadly our room was very noisy. stairs above with early morning disturbance. Too close to reception and with in adequate sound insulation we could hear every word.
Review 92:Location excellent and staff were helpful and professional.
Review 93:Would be good to have a front door key to the hotel so as not to have to page the manager from outside. Minor thing.
Review 94:Pretty much everything. Great rooms - clean, modern but with character, very helpful staff, FANTASTIC breakfast!
Review 95:Nitpicking - 'dark' bath because bulb had blown /not been replaced but everything else was
Review 96:Everything was fine - not outstanding but good across the board. Lovely food /choice at breakfast
Review 97:too many groups of steps for less firm a little confusion at breakfast
Review 98:Helpful, cheerfulness of staff accommodating to allow us all to stay in the lounge after check out to wait for some to get trains etc good costumer service lovely restaurant
Review 99:Everything was excellent
Review 100:Excellent value for money with comfortable rooms and a superb restaurant. The breakfast was second to none and all the staff were friendly and very helpful. I would recommend the Loch Fyne and Milson Hotel to anyone.
Review 101:doors closed at 11.00 and the rooms keys didn't provide access, the only bell at the front actually states don't press, - perhaps more clarity about how to get in after 11.00. (I went round the back and through the Kitchen door to look for someone)!! be aware that the main parking area is behind the hotel through the lights and first left, and left again.
Review 102:good Location in the old heart of Kenilworth, easy walk to castle and park - 10 minutes walk to town centre. hotel staff are friendly the restaurant good/OK. The room was clean and functional one or two stains on the carpets which if removed could better the overall perception. the bed was comfortable and the wifi very functional. Parking can present an issue if you arrive later in the evening. however the walk outside and to the right up the hill is a story of historic change.
Review 103:Only issue was the bed being a little hard, but that is a personal preference.
Review 104:Lovely location in the old town, excellent restaurant, part of the reason for our choice. Staff very helpful, and Loch Fyne breakfast ensured a very tasty start to the day.
Review 105:There isn´t anything I didn´t like.
Review 106:The room is clean and everything functions well. The staff is very polite and helpfull. the restaurant has good food and the staff very kind service minded.
Review 107:Not a bad experience but not offered the walk-in shower we hoped for. perhaps all rooms have bath? A grab rail over bath for seniors would therefore help.
Review 108:excellent menu and restaurant in general. Friendly relaxed feel
Review 109:Some rooms very close to road and very warm. Need to keep windows open to keep cool as fans too noisy. Noise on Friday night was intolerable in rooms adjacent side road. We think it was A level results celebrations into the small hours, youngsters staggering noisily home.
Review 110:Excellent décor, good food, helpful staff. We complained about street noise on first night and they were able to move us to an annex. away from street and much cooler.
Review 111:TV was tiny! Whilst It's no great issue it's a little outdated by today's standard.
Review 112:Pleasant and professional staff, superb seafood all in a nice relaxing set up. Highly recommended.
Review 113:Small but very clean, bedroom but we could hear noises outside very late on such as people who appeared to be locked out ( they were knocking , knocking, knocking the door and shouting ). The bathroom floor squeeked and groaned at every step but we recognise that this is an old building so understand this - just annoying.
Review 114:Breakfast was lovely and the restaurant very attractive. My husband had so much choice for his cooked breakfast and everything was fresh!
Review 115:The staff are so friendly and really can't do enough to make sure you're stay is as perfect as possible. The accomodation itself has real atmosphere and so much nicer than a sterile large hotel.
Review 116:The mattress was too soft and gave little support and, apparently, theyare all the same throughout the hotel. The night porter was also thebreakfast host and did not know about catering for coeliacs, so nogluten free bread was made available and the breakfast was boring (nogluten free cereal, yoghurt or knowledge of gluten free foods!). Thebedroom had a feedback postcard but no pen! The bedroom was very warmwith a fan which was noisy. The manageress stated that I should havetold Booking.Com about my coeliac; I said I did and she said Booking.comdoes not pass on messages such as this - so not impressed!
Review 117:The ambience and cleanliness
Review 118:Room and the bath tub was a bit tiny but looks clean and tidy.
Review 119:The almosphere was lovely. Comfortable bed. Love the breakfast and the receptionist was very nice xxx will stay again :)
Review 120:We were 15 minutes late for our dinner reservation due to traffic delays (the Coventry Road was shut which involved a lengthy diversion) We booked in, quickly changed and went to the restaurant where we were told off for being late. The head of the floor was RUDE. Although the food was excellent her attitude soured our experience and the meal. There was no need for that as the restaurant was not overly busy that night.
Review 121:Location.
Review 122:Very warm in the room. Knew I was in trouble when a fan was on when I got in. I know it sounds silly, but the hot water was extremely hot!
Review 123:Lovely bed in the room, clean and well appointed. Great breakfast in the morning.
Review 124:My room was very small, but saying that the hotel is very nice, and i stayed 2 nights in separate rooms, and the 2nd room was much better
Review 125:The service was very good, the food was excellent, nice bar area, and good location.
Review 126:We booked for friends as well - due to unforeseen maintenance their room was moved but it was a much inferior room. They chose to be accommodated at a different hotel instead of staying at Milsoms which spoiled our experience. Parking was also really tricky - no space in car park at back as we went at a busy weekend.
Review 127:The breakfast (poached fish) was delicious.
Review 128:Nothing really, but if I were being picky, he room was a little warm, but a fan was supplied, which made it very comfortable.
Review 129:We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Milsoms Hotel, Kenilworth. Our room wasn't large, but very comfortable, nice bathroom with good supply of toiletries and large bath towels. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was an excellent choice for breakfast. Would certainly stay again when visiting relatives in the area. The lady at reception was extremely helpful.
Review 130:Our waiter at dinner was a bit inattentive, especially as the evening progressed. Unfortunately I see this trend happening quite often that more emphasis gets put on the cleaning regime than the guests towards the end of service.
Review 131:we really liked this little place. Very friendly check-in and all the staff were vey friendly. A very good restaurant and a good wine list. It was good to be offered more for breakfast than the traditional fry up.
Review 132:There was no finness in the dinning room. It was like eating in an army barracks. We unfortunately left a suit carrier in our room, didn't notice it until we were on our way home and we then went back. The day manager denyied, several times, that it had been found. On insisting that we speak to the General Manager, our suit carrier mysteriously appeared. Bad communication or what? It spoilt our stay and we are unlikely to come again. Customers should be made aware of the rear car park, when they book. Luckily our son-in-law driver was a local.
Review 133:The staff were helpful on the whole and cheerful. The meals were good for those who liked cooked food. I would have prefered larger, thinner bread. I had to put bread through twice. Grapefruit would have been nice.
Review 134:The lack of service on hotel side...had to ask three times for a sheet as well as duvet...and when I did finally get it, cleaners kept taking it off my bed each day so I'd have to come in and remake bed.was there 7 nights.
Review 135:The food, especially breakfast , casual bar area was comfortable as woman on my own, nice to have an outdoor area to sit .
Review 136:Room 3. Banged heads on low door with dangerous overhead door lever. Stiff tap in basin you needed a plumber with a pair of stilsons to move and consequently wouldn't change for cold water
Review 137:Breakfast!
Review 138:The service. Very nice young lady booked us in and then greeted us in the restaurant. Excellent service throughout the meal all the staff were attentive and really made an effort.
The Fine Print
The Loch Fyne Restaurant is extremely popular, so advance dinner reservations are strongly advised. Please advise the hotel if you plan to check-in between 18:00 and 21:00.Late check-in after 21:00, and early check-out should be arranged with the hotel. Please note that full payment is taken at the time of booking.
