Reviews for Restover Lodge Hotel

Review 1:Fire alarm went off in night which was unfortunate. Ok for one night needs must but wouldn't stay again. Felt a bit vulnerable as only female n child there. Best suited to single males who want a pint n stop over

Review 2:Nice staff. Chef in restaurant particularly lovely

Review 3:Staff were reluctant to cook breakfast and evening meals even though it was booked as a dinner bed and breakfast rate, ended up eating out as felt uncomfortable asking for meals. also a fist sized hole in the headboard!

Review 4:There was no heating and the staff did not come out to sort it out! on complaining I was effectively told it was my fault! Its cheap and you get what you pay for and in this case, no staff and a rude manager.

Review 5:Slightly odd location on an industrial estate, but at £35 per room for a one night stay who cares?!

Review 6:Cheap hotel, very close to the M1. Room small, but clean. Comfortable twin beds, room warm. Great shower with lots of hot water. Free parking right outside the room. Someone had clearly been smoking in the room. When I told the young man on reception he dealt with it very well.

Review 7:The food price the drink now the bottle of coke with the drink this is disgrace it means having to pay for full bottle of Coke at separate prices the Coke should come with the vodka as part of the price never in my life have I ever paid 4.20 for vodka Coke and also 7.50 for breakfast well such a big price we did not take it robbery price we noticed the boss elooking at the till receipt we cud see he was motivated by what is spent at the hotel they were discussing what was being spent at the bar

Review 8:The room was compact

Review 9:The facilities were fit for purpose e.g. an overnight stay only. Staff were pleasant, helpful and the lady receptionist was bright, funny and helpful.

Review 10:Maybe the location wasn't perfect with lodge being hidden in industral estate. But at the same time there was something good about the location. So its just a positive feeling I had been left with

Review 11:Lady on reception were absoputely amazing and very helpful. I had a problems with my card needing to make extra phone call and since I had no charge left she kindly offered me to call. The problem then were quickly solved. Being offered complimentary cup of tea. Very very pleased with service. Also the location is quiet, room were clean. Absolutely happy and will recommend

Review 12:Convenient location to motorway, restaurant and bar on site. Comfy bed, great shower, everything you need for a short business stay. This was my second visit.

Review 13:It felt unsafe, especially if your a female travelling on your own. The rooms opened out in a car park. The reception building was around the corner. You had to walk out side to get to it. Towels were not changed each day. Room was very cold, spiders crawling on the bathroom ceiling. I booked ibis 5mins away for same price, alot nicer. Will never stay here again.

Review 14:I personally did not like anything about the rest over lodge. Facilities were not sufficient, no sockets to plug mobiles, laptop near the bed.

Review 15:You could hear a lot of noise from the car park. The windows were not double glazed so there was a lot of outside noise in the middle of the night. It also made the room a lot colder.

Review 16:The locality of the hotel was close to where I needed to go. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Review 17:Everything the bathroom was dirty with mould around the bath. There were hairs on the floor, bin was rusty and facilities were non existent. Really horrible location (industrial estate) and the pillows were flat and uncomfortable . Very horrible overnight stay.

Review 18:The breakfast was nice

Review 19:Room was dreary, old and the TV had picture problems, furniture is out dated and grotty. All things considered the room was expensive at £69 I feel I didn't get value for money. Won't be going back.

Review 20:Service with a smile and a warm welcome

Review 21:Wasn't made aware that breakfast was only available before 10 am, also when booking my room i was forced to believe i was going to get a double bed not two sinlges.

Review 22:Being woken at 3.50am to loud dance music and people next door talking till 7.30am (group of lads). Beds need replacing as they creak like hell can understand why after people jumping on them!

Review 23:Location and Staff helpfulness

Review 24:Rooms weren't massive but had everything you would need for your stay. A lot of the other rooms were empty and we were on the 1st floor with a baby and no lift after requesting a ground floor room.

Review 25:The staff were brilliant. Couldn't help too much. Breakfast was lovely. Clean, tidy and simple accomodation. Rooms were in separate apartment block rather than hotel.

Review 26:I have been working in this area for quite a while now - have just found this place and wish I had found it at the start of my contract as it is the best place for value for money I have found. The food is yummy too.

Review 27:Restaurant area is very outdated and looked gloomy however was only there for 15minutes during breakfast

Review 28:Good bedroom at minimal cost. Room has everything you need.

Review 29:The welcome mat was weeds growing across threshold. Reception area small, dark, diismal and gloomy. The decor in the lounge / restaurant area was drab and dreary. Stale smell in rooms, facilities in rooms basic. Bar facilities poor, provided our own wine (with permission) because none in stock. Forfeited the breakfast. Sadly there was nothing appealing, attractive or welcoming about Restover Lodge Hotel. The hotel is in deperate need of refuerbishment. We should have gone else where. Will not recommend this hotel.

Review 30:There was nothing to like.

Review 31:the bed dipped into the middle, and squeaked for every small movement. We were not told about the extra charge for our dog, ( £17.50), also the sink had a large crack in it, ( staff were informed ).Could do with a loo brush .

Review 32:staff were very helpful and friendly.

Review 33:A more comfortable bed and pillow, and a bed that didn't creak each time I turned over, would have made for a more comfortable nights sleep.

Review 34:We have never stayed in a motel before, and I enjoyed opening the room door and stepping onto the balcony, then sitting in a chair in the sunshine with a cup of tea and a book, instead of having to walk along a hotel corridor, then use the lift, then walk through the reception area, just to get a breath of fresh air.

Review 35:Everything, the staff were not nice, the rooms were dirty and verynoisy. The restaurant was disgusting, food not fit for a rat

Review 36:Nothing, we were ripped off with this hotel

Review 37:Beds not as comfy as could be and very small rooms for families with us tripping over pull out bed to go to loo

Review 38:Good location, quiet and generally clean and well kept, nice staff and decent standard food - no frills but good value

Review 39:The rooms don't seem to have double glazing so you hear people coming in and out all night long.

Review 40:The staff guided over the phone to the property as it was a bit out of the way. The breakfast was very well prepared.

Review 41:Poor checkin, awful shabby rooms but beds were clean. Bar very poor, two stale half bottles of wine only on premises Dirty surroundings to hotel Didn't even want to eat breakfast there

Review 42:Nothing!

Review 43:Although the bedrooms were satisfactory for the price paid, the outside of the hotel isn't shown in any photos (just the reception block) therefore I wasn't aware that this would have a 'motel feel' with a window looking out onto the car park. Didn't feel too comfortable with the safety of the location, wouldn't take young children or stop for longer than one night.

Review 44:Problem with booking, tried charging full rate not rate given through Booking.com. Only resolved when showing email confirmation. Given double room not family as booked. Walls are paper thin in rooms. Most uncomfortable bed ever

Review 45:Rooms were clean if tired looking

Review 46:The Cook was good but the breakfast was a full English only, no choices of bread or number of sausages etc. We went to a pub near the motorway 5 mins away and the food, staff were lovely. Definitely get food there.

Review 47:Location

Review 48:It has an "out of the way" location on an industrial estate which would probably not suit everyone, but it means its very quiet. The staff are friendly, and the price is excellent value for money

Review 49:Left do not disturb in key slot but housekeeping came in and woke me!

Review 50:Cheap and cheerful clean place to stay. Reception staff great and on bar later. Basic but comfortable great location easy to get to.

Review 51:On arrival in the room the TV wouldn't respond, the phone wasn't working and I had to walk back to reception, it was responded to immediately and the TV rectified however there was no response to the telephone problem as a lone female It could have been disturbing, at 1 am a family arrived, the adults were shouting banging doors children screaming for about 45 minutes I had a dog with me and didn't want her to start barking and become distressed. I got up and turned on the bathroom light, sparks come from the switch fussing all the lights leaving me in the dark with no lights, no phone and feeling a little vulnerable

Review 52:Following a family function my grandson wanted to stay with me, I had booked as a single however this didn't cause a problem to the hotel. The day staff were very friendly and accommodating

Review 53:I like more pillows but im sure if I asked you would of gave us some.

Review 54:It was lovely I liked that you could open you door andpark ourside room was lovley price excellent

Review 55:Honestly, stayed there 2 nights, hardly slept - the bed was so uncomfortable and creaked like a thunder clap at every tiny movement. Ours wasn't the only bed like this as we could clearly hear another couple 'enjoying themselves' clearly due to the thundering creaking of the bed so had to turn up the TV volume so our 10 year old daughter couldn't hear it! Room too small for family. Didn't get a wink of sleep in 2 nights.

Review 56:Cheap cost, liked that we could park next to room (rooms chalet like).

Review 57:price of breakfast for the quantity you get, we had a cooked breakfast of 2 eggs, 2 rashers of bacon, one sausage, a portion of beans, 2 slices of toast and a glass of fruit juice, plus coffee, there was cereal available as well, but we didn't have any, you get more at a Wetherspoons for less money, so we only had one breakfast there, though the quality was good and quick. Needs updating and minor repairs like hook in bathroom loose in wall and handbasin badly cracked.

Review 58:value for money, close to the M18, quiet as it was in the middle of an industrial estate. Chalet style rooms, reception and restaurant in separate building, room was comfortable. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Review 59:Would have liked the carpet to be hoovered, especially under the beds. Dust caused hayfever.

Review 60:Enjoyed our stay. Quiet and comfortable. Warm water for bath/shower. Thank you.

Review 61:Some parts of the bathroom were dusty in room 48 and there was no main light in the bedroom. In room 44 the room had a smokey odour.

Review 62:The staff were very helpful and happy.

Review 63:Very good value for money. Typical room. Light bulb in bed light missing and kettle not working but didn't complain ... Didn't need them and just told reception the following day. Good location. VERY freindly staff. Good experience all round.

Review 64:Easy to find. Clean. Good bath and shower. How do they do it for the money? We both wish we'd booked a second night instead of .... ?

Review 65:Slow wifi, so spent the whole evening listening to teenage daughter moaning but at least it was free

Review 66:Cheap, cheerful and clean. Pleasantly surprised to find toiletries supplied. I would definitely stay here again if I needed an overnight stop around the area.

Review 67:2 lovely large mirrors but no electric plug point nearby for hair dryer

Review 68:Accommodation was comfortable and clean the Bath was a bonus and Breakfast was excellent cooked fresh for us.

Review 69:Everything cozy room plenty of plugs extra bed for granddaughter. Both staff we spoke to were brilliant. Had messaged about mobility problems within minutes Catherine messaged to say I was in a downstairs room rooms open directly on to the car park like a chalet

Review 70:Room 19 has an adjoining door which isn't always locked. Just be careful

Review 71:Was second time we'd stopped here. This time in room 10. The room was quiet and secluded. Very clean and no noise or adjoining doors!!

Review 72:Nothing bad to say at all

Review 73:Lovely cosy chalet - i loved the fact i was given a ground floor chalet and to make it better it was the first one on the row and i could see my car :)

Review 74:The breakfast was too expensive for what it was and what we did get was too greasy. We also had problems getting the free WiFi to work in reception.

Review 75:The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 76:Only thing was bathroom was clean but did find hair in the sink, carpet under the bed was very dusty plus edges of carpets found builders crayon on floor near top of bed, , mattress very thin gave us a sore back, very small bath towels no good if your a big build, room just wasn't clean enough, drinks in the bar very expensive

Review 77:Good rate what we paid for the two nights

Review 78:Nothing for the price we paid.

Review 79:The price for a family room over the weekend was brilliant. The room was a little tight and facilities are basic. Being pet friendly and close to my family I will stay again. This is perfect for staying the night or two if out and about during the day.

Review 80:Watch out for adjoining doors. Being woken up at 3am by the visitors inthe next room drunkenly walking through the unlocked adjoining door isunacceptable. The staff at the facilities were not interested when acomplaint was made. Made a sleepless second half of the night andspoilt the stay.

Review 81:Basic rooms, but clean and tidy. Great for a stopover when needed andall facilities worked as needed.

Review 82:Cracked sink, no way of locking door once inside room, being able to hear guests in their rooms above, by the side and behind our room

Review 83:Lots of parking and near to M18

Review 84:The hotel is basically a workmans hotel, cheap and cheerful. Breakfast was good, freshly cooked and of a decent quality. Now, the bed, shocking, could feel every spring in the poor mattress, every time you move in bed you could hear a spring!!!

Review 85:The location was great, as a business traveller, not far from the m18 but far enough away not to get any noise from it.

Review 86:Wasn't asked what we wanted for the cooked breakfast, and no black pudding or mushrooms. Continental breakfast was minimal, just cereal juice and toast.

Review 87:Staff couldn't do enough for us.

Review 88:The weather was cold. Our room door opened on to the car park. A gap under the door let the cold breeze in. The duvet was only just wide enough for the bed, not overhanging it. If it had been wider we would have been protected better from the cold.

Review 89:Friendly helpful staff.

Review 90:I emailed the hotel a few days before our arrival to notify them that my partners son would be celebrating his seventh birthday the day we were checking in and would they be able to decorate our room with some banners and balloons. Upon arrival the member of staff on the desk knew who we were without having to give names and arriving at the room noticed that birthday banners had been put on the windows and doors. His bed had been decorated with balloons and confetti and a birthday card had also been left which was a lovely touch. Little things like this made our overnight stay that little better and my step son thought it was a brilliant idea. Staff were friendly and although our room was near the motorway it was quiet apart from a few late night guests returning to their room above us. The room itself was pretty basic and a little small but as we were only staying the one night and leaving early the next morning we weren't too bothered by this. All round a pretty reasonably priced place to stay.

Review 91:It did smell a bit, heater as much use as a chocolate fire guard and a big gap under door letting in a right draft! Had to use floor towel as a draft excluder

Review 92:It was under £30 Good shower, tea and coffee facilities

Review 93:Could do with a bit of updating however you get a decent place at a decent price

Review 94:The location of this hotel is very strange it been in the middle of a industrial estate. However right next to the M18 the road link is fab.It is a motel style and for one or two nights it's very good

Review 95:I stayed here two months ago and was charged £5 per night for my dogs, this time I was charged £19 for the same! I felt they used the dog fee to make up for me getting a discounted room rate on line. I queried it at the time as I booked in. But to no avail!

Review 96:Good parking, staff friendly, room comfortable

Review 97:Didn't like that all electrics were under table so needed to crawl around to plug stuff in. Kettle wires were bare but they did replace this when asked. Walls & skirting could have been cleaner & beds were very uncomfortable. Location was a bit too far out of the way. But I did like that it was relatively cheap & they didn't charge extras unless you used them.

Review 98:Very basic. More out of the way & further from Rotherham than expected. Beds very uncomfortable, needed to ask them to hoover as floor was dirty on arrival but they did & everything else was fine cleanliness wise. There was no wifi as was no O2 signal. Staff were friendly & helpful.

Review 99:The Hotel is ok for a one night stay, very basic. It was mostly clean but the shower curtain had mould on and the bathroom doors was covered in toothpaste and didn’t look like it had been wiped down for a least a year. I could not believe the cheek of the hotel, the booking confirmation said we could check in up to 10pm on a Sunday. At 7.45 I got a phone call from the hotel asking if I was close by as they wanted me to check in so they could go home early. The receptionist then decided she would charge my card and leave my keys in a black box for when I arrived. At that time she wasn’t even aware we had two rooms booked. When we did arrive the Reception, Bar and Restaurant were all closed before 930pm, I found a black post box with sellotape on and inside were are key cards and visa receipts anyone could of got hold of this. We had trouble with one of the rooms keys, but thankfully after several attempts we got it open, good job too with no staff around we would have had to go find another hotel after paying for this one.

Review 100:room was very dirty, carpet badly stained and looks like it wasnt changed in 50 years.. Bathroom full of big spiders, and very bad strong smell from cigarets through out the room and bathroom.. no sockets in room apart from one for tv which is behind heavy table and almost unreachable, unless you move the table..., so if you want to charge a phone, you can not watch tv or plug anything else.... Reception and bar have only one worker so, if the que in bar , then you have to wait to check in on first come first served basis... The carpet on entrance to reception wants to be not stepped on as it so old and looks terrible and dirty

Review 101:Good location and good place but needs new management!

Review 102:I will definitely stay when working up there again I found it nice and pleasantly peaceful Please make sure that no payment went off my card as I paid with cash

Review 103:The electric heater was a bit past its sell-by date, but it did work once one persevered to guess correctly how to adjust it! Outside noise from other guests was nearly a problem but luckily they went to bed.

Review 104:Friendly and accommodating staff. Good clean modern room with good facilities and large enough. Particularly liked having a bath rather than a shower. Very comfortable beds. No frills but spot on for the price.

Review 105:I stayed in room 12 , the walls leading to the bathroom had drink stains all over and the , the carpet was lacking a good clean and the bathroom was in need of repair .....my first night because I was so tired I didn't notice but as I stayed longer , you did , my last 2 nights wasn't good due to the noise from other guests but was too tired to be bothered, don't think I will be staying again. Sorry

Review 106:Ease of coming and going very handy for motorways etc

Review 107:The most recent room smelled of cigarrete smoke and every time I have stayed there there has been a problem with the internet.

Review 108:It is convenient to break the motorway trip and rooms are fine.

Review 109:I couldn't get the tv to work. No hairdryer but for the price I'm not complaining - I managed without.

Review 110:Ladies on reception were fantastic and managed to change my room at my request (lone lady and coming in late so I asked to be in a room at the front close to reception instead up upstairs at the back). They understood and change it with no fuss at all which I very much appreciated.

Review 111:After an hour of sleep the people upstairs flushed their loo and all of the pipes rattled and woke me up. So I had a disturbed night's sleep, which was sad because it was all OK until then.

Review 112:Pleasant staff who were ready to help. As long as you recognise the limitations of the place you'll have realistic expectations. It's very cheap, don't expect the Ritz. Having read other people's reviews I took basic cleaning materials, but it was quite clean, just very down at heel. The heating didn't work, but I had a hot water bottle so it was fine. Piping hit shower and good TV in room.

Review 113:Bloody tissue found in a drawer on arrival and the room was not cleaned in the four days we were there. This reduced the overall impression.

Review 114:Friendliness and lack of formality of staff, peace and quiet even though it was close to a busy motorway and a haulage company

Review 115:Cigarette ash on floor by bed , puddle of water on bathroom before we had been in and cleaner came in at 9.45 am. She did knock but with two doors she couldn't hear

Review 116:The room was freezing no heating and the radiator had broke! The toilet was dirty even when we first walked in and wouldn't flush! They was a bug in the shower!

Review 117:Can't think they was anything actually!

Review 118:Only one bath towel in the bathroom And there were 2 of us - and the shower was a little fierce

Review 119:Nice lady on reception and the room was lovely and warm when we arrived - it was like a butlins chalet room.

Review 120:This hotel was useful as a last minute deal. However is wasn't very comfortable and wasn't very clean either. The heating was broken but the staff were very helpful and friendly. Would be a cheap option if staying for business but would not recommend for leisure.

Review 121:Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Review 122:Strange location on an industrial estate but just minutes from the motorway. Clean, friendly and great value - just about to book again! 10 out of 10!

Review 123:only thing letting this stay down is not enough coffee / sugar & milk in the room ..

Review 124:the price was great & bed very comfy .room was very basic but plenty of towels for the shower & bath ..

Review 125:The poor quality of the room fittings and fixtures. The discomfort of the bed and the noise made by the toilet flushing - very loud and prolonged.

Review 126:Cooked breakfast - vgvfm

Review 127:It was tired. I would guess that it used to be successful, but since the industrial estate has been built around it, it has slowly been winding down. The bed was hard, OK for the husband but not for me and there could've been another bedcover

Review 128:It was clean, tidy, the staff were friendly. The food was freshly cooked

Review 129:Motel style rooms, room door opens straight onto car park. No bar as no licence. Depressing in winter. Women on their own should not stay here if they are nervous as could feel vulnerable.

Review 130:Room Really Cold Bed uncomfortable Was put in a room next to the boiler room very loud

Review 131:The Price The Staff are Lovely lots of tea and coffee in room

Review 132:Being on a industrial site was not nice. The room was quite cold. The key cards were difficult to work and it took a long time to get into the room.

Review 133:The staff were lovely and very helpful, the room was clean.

Review 134:Uncomfy bed, tiny bath, ripped chair left in room, small, didn't look like pictures on advertisement page, worn out, heater didn't work and was freezing in the room, not good enough for the price. Have stayed in better for cheaper.
