Review 2：Pralognan is a lovely town that just happens to be a ski resort-- it hasits own historic character, along with the necessary amenities to makinga good base for summer as well as winter activities. It's very mucha French tourist destination; we ran across few English-speakingtourists which was refreshing. Our stay at Chalet La Piat was quitecomfortable. It's actually more like a bed-and-breakfast than ahotel. Just a couple of rooms, and a host who lives on the premises. Thefacilities were fine, and we felt well-taken-care-of by the host. Themost popular day-hike is to the Refuge de la Vanoise, a gorgeous as wellas historic walk. One thing worth knowing is that the chairlift to thetop of La Fontanette runs during the summer, which can considerablyshorten the less-interesting part of the hike and also deposits you at aconvenient bar/restaurant from which to begin the actual hike.
