Reviews for The Regency Corus Hotel
Review 1:Staying at the peak Christmas party season led to some delays in dinner being served, but front of houese staff did well
Review 2:The staff were amazing - especially in the restaurant
Review 3:Changing rooms and the gym is not suitable for anyone doing Yoga. There isn't even one mat mat, as I found out as I had forgotten mine. Nevertheless, the staff were good.
Review 4:Helpful staff
Review 5:Bathroom covered in mould, very damp smell. For how much I paid for 3 Nights you don't expect mould and damp and a bad smell in room, windows wide open when arrived! Trying to get into the grounds of the hotel is a nightmare with such a busy road and a tight turn.
Review 6:Close to motorway.
Review 7:The room was dirty, furniture was broken, I had to pay a extra £50 when I arrived however I never got told I had to on any emails when I booked it online on booking.com wasn't worth £119 for one night
Review 8:Nothing
Review 9:The state of the first room we were given it was appalling, the bath hadbrown stains, the decoration was very poor, the room had a nasty stalesmell about it. The corridors had empty wine Bottles left outside therooms, not just one or two - I counted 10 plus. We asked for food at thebar and were told " not to bother as they had a wedding on",stock levels of soft drinks (Diet Coke) at the the bar ran out and wewere told there were no more in stock. We asked the F&B Manager tocheck he came back with the Diet Coke and said can we put that down tostaff lazyness... The staff couldn't cope or were just not trained, really disappointing. Will not be staying at Corus Hotels again.
Review 10:Checking out
Review 11:My friend had a wedding and everything they did went rong reduced her to tears and not one sorry
Review 12:The room was nice but we did pay slot for it the executive
Review 13:Changing rooms were a little cramped.
Review 14:We arrived early but were treated very well and made to feel welcome. Rooms were very good, as were the facilities (especially leisure centre)
Review 15:The Regency is overdue a refit. Our bathroom was new but not quite finished. The bedroom had badly repaired damp patches and screws in the walls where the ironing board or trouser press had been. Both the barman and receptionist seemed to be on their first day. Very nice but brand new without much support. The bar ran out of glasses even though there were only 7 or 8 people using it. The restaurant ran out of plates, milk, juices and pretty much everything at breakfast.
Review 16:Helpful, if inexperienced, staff. Convenient for the M42 and M40.
Review 17:Looking dated, quite hard to find in the dark ! Signage is very small , bar ran out of most things on the sat night .
Review 18:Friendly staff , breakfast was good
Review 19:No information in the room. Dirty bathroom.
Review 20:Comfortable bed. Nice room size. Fab swimming pool. Staff friendly. Very quiet! Great location. Good cheap restaurant next door. Good value for money. Really fast internet.
Review 21:There was an 18th birthday happening. The music was SO loud. I'm not someone to complain about this but it was late we were two floors above it and the bass from the DJ was ripping through us, we could litterly sing along. To make it worse the girls screams for every new song made it even worse ! I hit my peak and was litterly getting changed to go down to reception when it appeared to stop. Got into bed and got to sleep but an hour later we have the sounds of all the drunk party members coming back to their rooms .. Oh my.
Review 22:Nice hotel, nice bar, really friendly staff!
Review 23:The decor/atmosphere in the main restaurant is very bland and quite depressing to dine in the evening. The food was good but a little over priced. The meals/atmosphere from the lounge bar looked much better.
Review 24:The staff were friendly and helpful, clean room with comfortable bed and good sized television.Really convienient location. Excellent breakfast.
Review 25:Stained wall and lampshade (not acceptable and cheap and easy to fix). Strange fixture in bathroom with tissue stuffed in holes, unpainted exposed wood on one side. Nowhere to put hand towel or toilet bag by sink. 2 damp seats (ugh) in bar.
Review 26:Friendly and helpful staff
Review 27:We went to get into bed and we had dried blood stains all on the sheets. Then we had to re make the bed ourselves . We didnt even get offered Some money knocked off.
Review 28:Staff were friendly, room was cosy
Review 29:There was a wedding on and I was in the room right above where the wedding was taking place and the music was extremely loud. My suggestion would be that any wedding guests staying the night should be put in that room as they probably won't be in it until the wedding is over. When asking about the noise at reception all I got was a sympathetic expression. Breakfast staff not very attentive
Review 30:Leisure centre
Review 31:Room was a long walk away through many doors to open on route. The cold tap in the room was not functioning correctly. The toilet seat was put on at an angle which proves interesting. Number of towels was very limited and the bathroom mirror light did not work. The doors and walls had marks and cracks in them. definitely not worth the money. Wifi was Free put poor.
Review 32:Location was fine for the purpose of this visit
Review 33:The bathroom in the room I stayed in could do with a referb. The bath was stained and scratched, I also had a problem with dirty water that came out of the tap and shower. It was yellow and had black bits coming out. I reported this to reception and we had to change rooms in the morning to get washed.
Review 34:The breakfast in the morning was nice, fresh and a variety of choices. The staff were also polite and helpful. The beds in our room were comfy and the tv was good too.
Review 35:There was a lot of noise- which is probably understandable with a wedding party staying. But the room above - very noticeable noise when someone was walking around and dropping something on the floor.
Review 36:We had afternoon tea in the coffee lounge on arrival which was very nice. The room was very comfortable and there was a large television.
Review 37:Unfortunately I left my kindle in our room and it took 4 phone calls and finally talking to the manager 3 weeks later to have them return it. Apparently it was locked in the safe and forgotten
Review 38:Staff were very friendly and made us and our dogs welcome
Review 39:The room was clean and tidy but the bathroom was dirty. After a long day on my feet covering an event in the NEC I wanted nothing more than a bath when I got back to my room. Unfortunately I had to clean the bath before I used it myself, there was a lot of grit in the bath which became apparent when I started to fill it with water. My second issue with the hotel was over room service - on the same night I took on cleaning duties, I ordered something to eat and I was told it would take 25 minutes. With a wedding taking place the same evening I figured this might end up taking a little longer and was happy to wait but it took nearly an hour and a half for food to arrive and when it did it was cold, to the point the rice was like pellets, and there were items missing from our order (bacardi and coke... without the coke?). On check out I explained that there was food and drink missing but it was still on our bill and they wouldn't/couldn't remove it which was disappointing!
Review 40:Staff were friendly and polite. It was close to the NEC and we were able to check in early.
Review 41:Call to bar in evening after dinner, bar was unoccupied and we waited 10+ minutes for our group to get a drink. There was plenty of customers in bar at this time and would have been better to minimise the time the bar would be unattended
Review 42:Pleasant atmosphere. Staff were really good and helpful and breakfast. Plenty of staff to manage all the Customers.
Review 43:Mildew and dirty bathroom, cigarette ash on the window ledge, very noisy, not good value for money.
Review 44:Only the location I'm afraid, there's a reason why this had rooms free whilst the Premier Inn was fully booked up weeks before!
Review 45:Hotel is quite old-fashioned. No even fridge, seif and air conditioning in the room. On my check-out receptionist forget to order a taxi for me, and I was in real risk to miss my train to London and then to miss my flight from London Heathrow. Hotel staff did nothing to help me.Even taxi driver was more helpful. Still waiting for the correct invoice.
Review 46:Did not like the 0430am wake up alarm call of the fire alarm going off for a brief moment, but meant i could not get back to sleep!
Review 47:The room was lovely and area was quiet considering there was wedding/party going on!
Review 48:We were moved rooms three times in two days due to poor maintenance The hotel is generally filthy not just a bit dirty. I used a fire escape to quickly access the car park and it was partially blocked by cardboard boxes and packaging. The pool and spa are a health hazard.
Review 49:The staff were friendly and when they were not restricted by the infrastructure accommodating
Review 50:My husband were disturbed by a group of kids running around the corridors and knocking doors. this we reported to recepetion but needed to speak to the duty manager in order to get it stopped. We would have expected at least an apology which we did not get and there is a definite problem with your security for this to happen.
Review 51:Bathroom is very outdated and dreary.
Review 52:I arrived close to midnight. The staff was very helpful and efficient. One gentleman got me drinks and ice for the room. I missed breakfast and had the most amazing meal delivered to my room afterwards. The staff was flexible and friendly. Bed was very comfi. Room is modern but bathroom not. Wifi excellent. Close to highway. .fifteen min from airport.
Review 53:Single room was fine but our double room smelt of spilled alcohol, the bath was stained and worn out. The basin required a clean and de-scale. Carpet at toilet door frayed.
Review 54:I'm told the swimming pool is just fine.
Review 55:Needed an early breakfast and reception told me to leave request form ondoor handle. No breakfast, and staff made no attempt to refund the cost.My 5th and last visit
Review 56:Fire alarm kept going off at random times of the morning and evening and were told it is faulty. Room service trays in corridors were there from 10:15 in the morning until 8:00 in the evening, including glass bottles which could easily have been tripped over. Also requested more teabags up to the room in the evening and the porter took over an hour and a half to bring them up to my room - had to ring down twice to chase them.
Review 57:Staff could not be more helpful.
Review 58:Noisy room....Warm night required the window to be open, andconsequently suffered a great deal of road noise. Only decaff coffeeavailable in room; requested "normal" coffee from Receptionbut none delivered to room. Also, £100 was charged and taken from mycard before my stay even though the room was "only" £71.10.This was explained by the receptionist as "covering any other costsI may incur" and the difference will be refunded within 10 workingdays!! This is creative accounting at best and a total mistrust of thecustomer at worst!
Review 59:Not a lot
Review 60:Had to have a refund as not able to eat breakfast due to unavailable table. Seriously disappointing for someone who likes their breakfast
Review 61:Dinner was excellent.
Review 62:Location perfect for easy access to Midlands attractions. Room was quiet, comfortable and well equipped. Food and service in the restaurant was fantastic. I cannot find anything bad to say and would definitely stay here again.
Review 63:The gym was very disappointing, tiny with minimal features and very much feels like a converted storage area rather than purpose built. also the lift is old and scared my girlfriend as it creakily shook on our way up, we are young and so took the stairs the rest of the trip, might not be so easy for other couples.
Review 64:Room was great, and clean and spacious. great value for the money we paid.
Review 65:The phone in my room wasn't working so when I wanted to order room service I had to go to reception. Also upstairs bedrooms were really hot
Review 66:Great comfy bed!
Review 67:Checkout took a while, that's about it really. Everything was as expected and enjoyable.
Review 68:Very good value for money, modern and pleasing standard of decor and plenty of friendly staff. We were there for a wedding and they handled the whole evening very well. Although I didn't stay for the breakfast I was told it was nice.
Review 69:TV broken in initial room. Took over an hour to get somebody to look at and required 2 phone calls and visit to reception to sort. However, once seen, upgraded to suite straight away
Review 70:Great hotel with attentative staff. Good location and facilities
Review 71:Choice of food at night was better on the room service menu than the restaurant menu. Apart from outside, there was nowhere to eat if we had the dog with us. We had to leave her in the room. Pet friendly....not. One complaint about the breakfast was the scrambled eggs were JUST warm. We asked for a ground floor room due to mobility problems(arthritis) and were given second floor with an extended walk along corridors to our room. Not easy getting the dog out in the morning either due to this. Staff had to be reminded about any deals concerning the food and drink.
Review 72:Location was excellent for getting on and off the M42 although a bit confusing finding the hotel having to go past on one side of the road and coming back down the other side. Breakfast buffet was one of the best we've seen in a hotel and was topped up often.
Review 73:My friend Mr Graham in room 128 could not get to sleep until 1:00 am due to a party taking place in 129. At 1:00 am someone knocked on their door about the noise but we expected a good night's sleep after travelling up from the south coast. Not very happy about this at all.
Review 74:Hotel is beautiful and receptionist was sympathetic but that dud not compensate for our disappointment.
Review 75:Scrambled egg was green! It looked as if new scrambled egg had been mixed in with left-overs in the heating tray. Very unpleasant.
Review 76:Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 77:too hot - radiator was on in bedroom! Patio door was unlocked, which if hadn't have checked could have been a security risk
Review 78:convenient hotel and good price. good leisure facilities
Review 79:Friday night noise. Small window with some roof just behind. No window or working fan in the bathroom. Uncomfortable chair but it is just my opinion
Review 80:Car park
Review 81:We really enjoyed the pool, location of the hotel was good and near a few attractions. Staff where friendly, helpful and courteous. food was also good.
Review 82:Rude staff Booked a room with a cot and didn't get one Booked a room for two adults and child and had 1 towel Cold breakfast Burnt Dirty plates and bowls
Review 83:Room are not cleaned to a good enough standard doors on ground floor are broken or hard to open leaks are not fixed bathroom flooded when used the bath moved to another room bath did the same again!! Bar staff not always there have to ask reception for someone to come to bar
Review 84:The staff are friendly and helpful
Review 85:The lighting in the room wasn't really great for putting on make up! Bit dull. Also the flex on the hairdryer was so short it didn't reach any mirror. Shower was very weak and had I been staying more than one night I would have complained
Review 86:Easy to find. Plenty of parking
Review 87:Dirty sink in bathroom. Lack of staff and those who were there weren't interested in helping, some even quite offhand. The great big pile of dirty glasses and crockery left in the corridor by the cleaners which weren't even removed when we informed the reception staff about it. Basically not enough staff on duty.
Review 88:The big spacious room Great big, comfortable bed Value for money
Review 89:The bathroom had a damp smell, we had to ask a member of staff to put a cot in our room 3 times. The bed was very uncomfortable and very humid in the room didn't sleep well at all
Review 90:Friendly staff, nice location
Review 91:Room was large and airy, bed very comfortable, loads of pillows, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer. Very nice bathroom. Good bar area, excellent conference facilities.
Review 92:Dusty room, shower curtain smelt lighting dull in the bathroom can't see it's more like candle lit. I wouldn't stay here again
Review 93:The location and free wifi
Review 94:Bumped out of my room the day before, a lucky escape as the put me in the Premer Inn Just blamed their booking system I'd never had a Booking dot com go wrong before
Review 95:On leaving the hotel, there was confusion about payment. The receptionist on the reception desk was unable to explain about a 'holding fee', and unable to explain & tell me what 'refund' I was getting. After booking on line, this was odd. Am awaiting to hear from the manager.
Review 96:Most staff very helpful and couldn't do enough for us..
Review 97:Room (222) was tatty, curtains not hung properly, bed too springy, pillows cheap, decor outdated. The back of the bathroom door was dirty. Bathroom tiles grubby, a really horrible room - single traveller - second best as usual. Take a look at Premier Inn a budget hotel chain with good service, cleanliness, comfort and choice. Next time that's where I will choose.
Review 98:Free WiFi and onsite parking
Review 99:We initially went to the old front door or bar entrance, this is clearly where the smokers gather, the ash container was filled to over flowing, literally, and stank. Walking around to the new front door, this was marred by another smoker, scattering ash and blowing out smoke as we walked in. We found this to be totally unacceptable. Hotel needs to move these ash gathering devices.
Review 100:We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite which was really very nice, comfortable and well equipped, in the old part of the hotel overlooking the front. We were there to attend a function which was held there, also a nice room, reasonable quality food for a large group.
Review 101:Call were not put through to our room, be cause "staff were not on duty". Toilet paper not replaced and soap that disappeared down the basin was not replaced
Review 102:Location to the NEC
Review 103:The hotel room was very out dated. All needed a lick of paint. I paid 100 for a room for myself and didn't understand why was so expensive. Nothing was luxury. I then paid extra for breakfast. The breakfast is what let it down the most. I think is what made me leave unhappy. When I sat down for breakfast they asked if I wanted toast. I said yes. When they brought it over it wasnt fresh toast was cold toast. So i left the toast. I then went up to the food. Took me a few attempts to find where the plates we're as no one explained what the situation was. Then horrified all the spoons which you use to get thenfood out are kept on one plate. So baked bean juice was over the egg spoon :-/ and hash brown rings and basically baked bean juice was every where. So I missed that station. The bacon n sausage looked nice so i got some of that. When actually eating it the sosage wasn't beeakfeast sosage was herby and not really what you want for beeakfeast. The juice situation was a quiz too. 6 juices out and not one labled. After two attempts of trying to find Apple and pouring other juices I gsbe up. So I decided to gsve crossiants. Unfortunately they we're mini ones and only had a few out so I had all of them n they wernt replaced. So I paidnan extra ten pound for 3 mini crossiants. I would not recommend beeakfeast to anyone.
Review 104:The rooms were big. Lots of storage and comfy beds quiet stay. Room service quick and probably best burger ever. Shame not more choice and a more modern menu.
Review 105:No atmosphere and decor dated. Refreshments in room 'mean'. Access onto main dual carriage way road so that every time into Shirley was time consuming to access.
Review 106:Managed to book at short notice for the weekend.
Review 107:pool was cold, spa area dirty and tired, room was very disappointing, bed rubbish, couple at desk complaining that someone had been able to get in their room with a duplicate key card, at the same time another guy was complaint his room stank of smoke
Review 108:reception area and bar looked good
Review 109:The hotel rooms are in need a considerable refresh. Much peeling/damaged paintwork, chipped bath suites and windows that were so rotten you can't close them properly. Breakfast was OK, but for the price and standard should be more than stuff being kept warm on the side.
Review 110:Staff were friendly and helpful, check-in process was smooth. Good sized family room.
Review 111:The room, especially the bathroom, which was very tatty, the bedroom was scruffy and cold with the window being left open and the noise from the room next door was constant all night, ending someone being sick.
Review 112:Location and general areas
Review 113:room outdated compared to local competition, room was cramped. Mattress was awful bathroom worn and outdated. Gym had equipment that was old and rusting, looked like it came out of a skip. Couldn't wait to leave.
Review 114:nothing
Review 115:not much of meal choice in the evening. no service at breakfast offered a luke warm coffee, no toast or top up coffee. food was good and choice suited perfectly.
Review 116:comfortable and clean single room ensuite spacious. didnt use the pool etc but great perk to have.
Review 117:the receptionist lady was awful gave me one of the farest room she could, she tried turning me away and said bookings Arnt till 2 but I had reserved a room for 11 she felt quite embarrassed .
Review 118:There was a party in the bar and the music was very loud. Even with closed window I could hear each song like having a radio next to my bed. As the phone was not working I had to get up and go downstairs to complain. Which did not help much ….
Review 119:cheap ….
Review 120:The hotel's inability to stop the noise from the residents in our room above, requiring our family to move to a tiny room with only 1 bed (after being shown to a room that was already occupied!). My daughter was competing in a national biathlon event the next day and needed sleep. She was in tears at her inability to get the rest she needed.
Review 121:Staff ordered taxi which turned up 45 mins late we were then late for a show we had paid good money for breakfast was awful and one particular staff member eas rude and disorganised would not stay again
Review 122:Bedroom and bathroom could do with a nice bit of white gloss paint but fine.
Review 123:Looks like a refurb is going on.staff very good ,Tomas the bar man very pleasant great hotel
Review 124:The bed was extremely soft and felt like a trampoline. I did manage to sleep well on it though.
Review 125:Comfortable room with very high standard of cleanliness. The pool, sauna, steam and gym were nice facilities to have on site.
Review 126:The bars ran out of drinks, we were there for a party, there were also 2 other functions on. So you would think the bars would have been well stocked!!
Review 127:Bed was very comfortably, the room as warm and clean.
Review 128:the staff seemed to struggle with listening and delivering what was asked of them there appeared to be a shortage of staff as breakfast trays outside rooms were left there all day and rooms refreshed late in the day
Review 129:the management dealt with complaints well the grounds were very good and the rooms were of a high standard
Review 130:Hotel is rundown, very little has been spent on it on the past 10+ years. Whilst the staff are generally pleasant you get the feeling they are there under duress rather than option. The food was very poor.
Review 131:Only one pillow not enough towels, no soap or equivalent, no extra bed as requested. They did not have the two rooms ready. Very disappointing
Review 132:Facilities of swimming pool
Review 133:Hotel not easy to find - as it was on the wrong side of a dual carriageway (coming from NEC) and the signage was poor.
Review 134:The room was a good size Beds were comfortable No traffic noise
Review 135:Minor negatives No hairdryer in room Towels not replaced for second night Tea/coffee in short supply
Review 136:Cleanliness Friendly staff Good breakfast
Review 137:Bar area was not atmospheric. The bathroom was tiny and very tired and dated. The bath had enamel coming off and mould was beginning to show around all the sealant. The price was more than the Marriott and Holiday Inn which I would rate as much better hotels. Breakfast was pretty good value but when I asked where to sit etc. the waitress seemed to expect me to know where to go, where everything was and what to do. She did not meet me but spoke to me from 20 yards away! The fire alarm seemed to be tested at 07.20 hrs in the morning. Someone complained that it had gone off at the same time the day before too.
Review 138:Nice large, airy, comfortable Bedroom that was fresh and clean. Pool Location Free WIFI
