Reviews for Victoria Lodge
Review 1:I found the bed a little uncomfortable.
Review 2:Staff very nice and friendly and so helpful. Location very good for walking into the town. Breakfast excellent.
Review 3:Clean tidy rooms, excellent refurbished bathroom (shower only). Pleasant staff Good choice of breakfast (B& B only). Quiet room at the back. Short walk to town centre and a variety of restaurants offering discounts to guests. Mostly Indian or Chinese/Malay restaurants, but very good freehouse pub almost next door. Visit was only one night, but would definitely stay again.
Review 4:Comfortable, clean and with very thoughtful touches, like the provision of a fridge with fresh milk and bottled water on a landing. Discount arrangements with a number of Kenilworth eateries a good idea too. Very friendly staff.
Review 5:Everything - the location was good - the management and staff were very polite - the bedroom was nice and warm - the breakfast was brilliant and overall it suited all of our needs for the three day stay. Well done and many thanks for an enjoyable stay.
Review 6:Nothing to dislike
Review 7:We loved the size of the room, it was unexpectedly large. Bed was comfortable, we both got a great nights sleep. The receptionist (probably owner) was really lovely, helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of options
Review 8:The location was great right in the main street and having a pub next door was fantastic. The staff were very friendly, breakfast was delicious and the facilities were comfortable and inviting.
Review 9:Not a bad experience, just a little (personal) feedback - I am not fond of the smell of perfumed washing powders and fabric conditioners - the bed linen had quite a strong perfume. So I would prefer neutral - clean - no smell at all.
Review 10:Very warm welcome, easy parking, free wifi, clean and pleasant room, with comfortable bed. The breakfast was lovely. Even though on the main road it was quiet on a Saturday night on a horse fair weekend!
Review 11:No complaints apart from squeaky floorboards in bedroom and bathroom.
Review 12:Lovely large room. Extremely comfy bed. Very clean. Excellent breakfast. Great location, not far from Kenilworth Castle and walking distance to numerous eating and drinking places.Friendly staff. Free bottled water available. Would recommend to family and friends.

Review 18:Very friendly reception, Good size room which was very clean, very nice breakfast good facilities and useful local information about Restaurants etc. I will definitely use again as I will be visiting the area again on business.
Review 19:Tin fruit for breakfast and no coca pops, though advertised.
Review 20:Fresh milk for tea and coffee and bottle water provided free of charge in a separate fridge on landing. Location is close to local pubs and restaurants.
Review 21:Very comfortable bed, good size bathroom, very good shower and the breakfast was superb. Great suggestions for places to eat in the evening and impressed that discounts had been negotiated with local restaurants. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into making this such a good place to stay: thank you Marilyn.
Review 22:none

Review 24:Really lovely b & b in Kenilworth. Great value for the money. Thecharming hostess, Marilyn is welcoming, helpful, and professional. Ourroom was spotless, very comfortable and quiet and we had a large well-appointed ensuite bath. Much appreciated fresh milk and bottled waterare provided free of charge from a fridge on the landing. We were serveda very tasty and generous breakfast each morning. Off-street parking isavailable along with free wi-fi. The attention to detail is impressive, such as the china teapot in our room and fresh flowers on each table inthe dining room. We had to leave early on the day of departure &Marilyn was extremely accommodating to ensure our breakfast was readyand waiting long before the usual start time.
Review 25:Nothing whatsoever!
Review 26:The breakfast was excellent. Home baked bread..ground coffee and locally sourced produce. The rooms were immaculate, well maintained and very comfortable with everything you need. Loved the idea of fresh milk for tea and coffee and free bottled water! Excellent location and somewhere I will be using whenever i need an overnight stay in Coventry!
Review 27:I would have preferred a desk or table as I had some work to do.
Review 28:Marilyn was so friendly and happy to provide information. She asked about what I would like to eat and then suggested a number of restaurants to consider. She made sure that I was happy with the room. Wifi was very good and far better than in many hotels.
Review 29:A very warm welcome when I arrived very late in the evening to book in and after the Reception hours. This kindness continued through-out my stay and genuinely felt a home from home.
Review 30:Marilyn had thought of everything. Cooked breakfast superb. Warm, comfortable, clean and quiet. Free fresh milk and bottled water from fridge. Corner bath in our ensuite. Large white bath towels and flannels provided. Lovely sunny breakfast room. Small lounge to meet with friends.
Review 31:Nothing bad to say.

Review 33:Nothing.
Review 34:From the warm welcome the owner gave us on arrival,to our departure we were made very welcome. Our room was very comfortable with nice touches such as a teapot in your room and fresh milk available from the fridge on the landing. Very comfortable beds and lovely fluffy towels. The breakfast was one of the best! Fresh home made bread for the toast and locally produced bacon, eggs and sausage. Super!
Review 35:Impeccably clean. Marilyn is friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are excellent Easy walk to town Fresh milk and bottled water in fridge on landing for guest use. Rooms are really well thought out.
Review 36:Impeccably clean, well located, spacious rooms, great breakfast, warm welcome - will definitely be back. Also recommended to the company I was visiting that they should add to their list of approved accomocation.
Review 37:Nothing at all!
Review 38:We have stayed here before and the quality never drops. Fabulous breakfast, freshly cooked. Very comfortable room, the owner always makes a point of making sure everything is perfect for the guests
Review 39:Wonderful stay from start to finish. Absolutely faultless. From the very warm welcome until the time we left Marilynn the owner couldn't have been more helpful
Review 40:Everything . The extra little touches such as the fridge outside the bedrooms with extra milk for tea coffee in room. Hot plates to go with hot food at breakfast.
Review 41:Small bathroom, but I understand the limitations of old buildings...
Review 42:How tremendously helpful the owner was getting our train travel and rental car settled. Loved the breakfast meal, great quality foods, especially the meats.
Review 43:I needed to be away early the morning I left and the staff were very accommodating. They got up early To cook Me breakfast and helped me with directions to my destination.
Review 44:Nothing to find fault with.
Review 45:Marilyn really is the 'key' to why Victoria Lodge is so highly rated I am sure. Due to fitting in with moving/seeing our son who is at Warwick universitry doing a PhD, we asked if we could have an earlier check-in time. Marilyn was so helpful even delaying her own time of going out so we could check in before. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. A nice touch is the small fridge containing fresh milk (and bottled water) on the landing to complement the free tea and ooffee on offer in the room. It was so pleasant to have an en-suite that was big enough to move around in! Breakfast was plentiful and cooked to order so arrived wonderfully hot. We regularly stay in Kenilworth but hadn't discovered Victoria Lodge before - so glad we did.
Review 46:Friendly owner (Ms Marilyn), lovely staff and beautiful rooms. Welcoming email is the first good impression of personal touch. We love the home bake bread for breakfast, taxi arrangement, suggestion of meals and early check-in.
Review 47:We had no complaints to make; But we found the beds a little soft for our rickety old bones but would be fine for the majority of people.
Review 48:A warm welcome, arrived early in the day; we were treated to free coffee's. This place is well run and very clean. The breakfast was top notch too. There was nothing to complain about.
Review 49:Leaving Could have had a slightly bigger tv
Review 50:Location, room, building, telephone in hall. owner, welcome, extra milk on landing, breakfast, free wifi, choice of eating places, our walk around the castle. Everything really.
Review 51:We received a lovely warm welcome. Our room, which was very quiet, was also very comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities and a roomy en suite. The breakfast was excellent. Victoria Lodge is within easy walking distance of a multitude of excellent restaurants & pubs.
Review 52:Can't think of anything really; parking a little tight, but room enough if everyone parks curteously,
Review 53:Liked everything; staff/owners were most helpful in every way. Would love to stay again. :-)
Review 54:The bed was a little too soft for me as I like a firmer mattress.
Review 55:The accommodation was very attractive and the owner friendly and helpful. Fresh milk was available for making tea in the room. We had a front room but were not disturbed by the traffic.
Review 56:The manager was very helpful arranging a table for dinner when we arrived and the smell of home baking bread was wonderful. The bread was served at breakfast and tasted as god as it had smelt the night before.
Review 57:The only small irritation was the cleaning lady banging around outside the door very early in the morning on the Saturday. I think she was changing bedding in one of the other rooms!
Review 58:Location in town centre. New owner is a lovely lady...very friendly and helpful. Fresh milk and water in fridge on landing. Breakfast excellent Parking on site. Definitely on our list of places to stay again.
Review 59:There isn't anything that we didn't like.
Review 60:You couldn't ask for more accommodating staff. Friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast of excellent quality. We will stay at Victoria Lodge next time we need to stay in the area.
Review 61:Parking a bit tight, and I had no bath, but for one night stop was no problem.
Review 62:Location to Stoneleigh excellent, warm welcome on arrival, room clean and breakfast excellent.
Review 63:There was nothing to fault whatsoever.
Review 64:Comfortable facilities; wonderfully effervescent host; excellent cooked breakfast; nice touch with endless supply of complimentary bottled water in fridge & discount vouchers (40% off) at local Sitar Indian Restaurant. Highly recommend this B&B.
Review 65:This is going to sound like being damned by faint praise, but there was nothing wrong with this hotel. They managed to do everything right. The bed was comfy, the room was well laid out and very clean, the shower was excellent, the staff were friendly and it is ideally located if you are visiting Warwick University.
Review 66:My room was big, comfy, warm, and spotlessly clean. Marilyn and all the other staff I met were extremely friendly and helpful, they even made sure I had gluten free bread and soya milk for my breakfast. Having free WLAN and free bottled water was nice, too. I would definitely come back! :-)
Review 67:Lovely room and facilities, owner and staff very attentive and friendly. Great location for restaurants and short car journey to beautiful attractions
Review 68:There was nothing at all that we would critisize
Review 69:Victoria lodge was everything we could have hoped for; comfortable welcoming and serving the best breakfast we've had on holiday for some time. Marilyn was friendly informative and a pleasure to chat to, full of information about the locality and especially about local restaurants and places to visit. We had a brilliant nights sleep and it was great to have the private car parking right under our bedroom window - we were visiting the area for a car meeting and it was therefore vitally important to us that our vehicle was safe at night. Thank you very much Victoria lodge - we plan on returning next year to further explore the area from this great base
Review 70:There wasn't anything to dislike.
Review 71:The welcome was second to none, the service was friendly and first class. The rooms were all fresh and clean the company booked out 4 rooms over two days. Would recommend without a doubt.
Review 72:Squeeking timber floors. The hotel though with less than twenty rooms are not easy to book in as seems to be popular at all times.
Review 73:Great first class value for money for short stay especially a night or two for travelling Northwards in transit on the motorways. Excellent warm rooms, confort beddings and very clean bathrooms. The small town of Kenilworth in the heartlands of Shakespeare countryside is a well served with multi-eatery fantastic restaurants and friendly people.
Review 74:Very warm welcome from Marilyn, she felt more like a friend, very clean spacious and comfortable room/bed, in room tea and coffee with fresh milk and bottled water available, lovely bathroom with power shower. Marilyn serves the best cooked breakfast I've ever eaten. A very homely hotel. Thank you Marilyn : )
Review 75:There was a bit of mildew odor in the bathroom which I found unsettling, but opening the window in there and the bedroom aired it out pretty well. While wifi connection was good, it only worked in the lobby so I had to leave my room every time I wanted internet access. I was woken one night by some serious snoring--so yes, the walls & floors are pretty thin! Rooms are quite small as well, so just be aware (wasn't a problem for me).
Review 76:Marilyn, the innkeeper, was lovely, going out of her way to accommodate my schedule with early breakfast, booking taxis, etc. My room had a nice Juliet balcony and was very comfortable, including the mattress, happily! Location was ideal--I didn't have a car and there's a bus stop very close by--and free wifi was a nice bonus. Breakfast was delicious and bottled water was also gratis, in a fridge right outside my room--nice touch.
Review 77:Main road very busy - we had a back room so no problem re road noise but could be tricky to get out of the car park in the morning, house creaked ominously during the night and could be a bit off-putting for those of a nervous disposition.
Review 78:Good location in Kenilworth, everything within walking distance, good choice of local eateries, plenty to see and do in the area (20 mile radius) especially if you are in the National Trust, Marilyn was very helpful re getting about, breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice.
Review 79:I liked the comfortable accommodation. The bed was excellent and I slept well. I enjoyed my full English breakfast and the friendly atmosphere of the dining room. The location for access to the town is perfect for me.
Review 80:Nil. All good.
Review 81:Kenilworth is a lovely town with many excellent dining options within walking distance. The hotel was excellent and the staff were great and ever willing to make our visit as enjoyable as possible. Great breakfasts. A great place to use as a base for visiting the many tourist options in the surrounding area.
Review 82:I would have preferred a bath to a shower and the room was very hot at night requiring the window to be wide open.
Review 83:I received a very warm welcome and the facilities were very thoughtful and the staff attentive. I particularly liked a small teapot in the room and a fridge on the landing with fresh milk to make tea in the room.
Review 84:Breakfast a bit slow, but not a problem as we weren't in a rush.
Review 85:Owner very welcoming and friendly. Convenient for restaurants. Good on site parking. Good quality bedding. Excellent breakfast with homemade bread and marmalade.
Review 86:Nothing to not like!
Review 87:Very friendly service. Nothing too much trouble. Very clean and well presented. All in all excellent value for money. Fresh milk and bottled water freely available.
Review 88:Good location for sightseeing and eating out. Lovely rooms with comfortable beds. Lots of choice for breakfast. The lady who runs the place was very flexible and made sure our needs were met.
Review 89:Nothing
Review 90:Clean room with ensuite, comfortable bed. Friendly welcome and attention from owner Marilyn. Fridge, bottled water provided for the use of guests. Easy walk to local shops, pubs and restaurants
Review 91:Our room was really comfy and beautifully furnished. Appreciate the fact that Marilyn contacted us before our arrival and we were able to arrange an early check in which really suited us. Friendly staff, gave us useful local information.
Review 92:There was nothing to dislike.
Review 93:Everything. Convenient for travel, quiet location even if it is on a main road. Friendly staff. Easy walking distance of places to eat.
Review 94:The double bed was plenty large enough for two portly people but found the bed to be a little too soft and by morning did feel very hot.
Review 95:Overall stay excellent and easy access for older people with bedrooms near facilities. Staff friendly and accommodating.
Review 96:Room 10: toilet seat would not stay up (for men!). Entrance foyer needs upgrading to standard of other areas (we understand this is to happen.)
Review 97:Cleanliness and decor of bedroom and en suite. Excellent Full English breakfast. On-site parking. Helpful staff. Garden terrace for our birthday cake and champagne.
Review 98:The room was clean and comfortable and the Victoria Lodge is in a good situation to eat out. There was more than 10 places to go to eat within a 15 minute walk. We chose to eat just two doors away in the Green Man where the food was very good. A nice added touch was a fridge just outside of our room where water and fresh milk was kept for use of guests.
Review 99:Room (at top of house) was very hot in the heatwave, even with windows wide open. Would have benefited from a fan to move the air a bit. Sloping ceiling over bath made showering difficult.
Review 100:Very friendly and helpful hostess. Excellent welcome, comfortable bed and room. Delicious breakfast. Lots of good places to eat dinner nearby. Very convenient for The Warwickshire Golf and Country Club.
Review 101:There was no air-con and the rooms were very, very warm. Our room had a ceiling fan but it was very weak and barely produced any breeze. My brother and nephew were in the other room and they had no fan at all plus the hot water tank for the whole house was in their bathroom so they were absolutely sweltering during the night! Probably nicer for a winter stay than summer but overall still a lovely B&B.
Review 102:Breakfast was great, lovely clean rooms and great wi-fi. Our hosts were really helpful and friendly and the B&B is really conveniently located for an easy stroll into the village. We were staying so we could visit Warwick Castle and it was a very short, easy drive to get back and forth. I would definitely recommend this B&B.
Review 103:Marilyn, the new owner, was very friendly and went out of her way to accommodate our needs. The breakfast was excellent and rooms were generously sized. Would stay there again if in the area.
Review 104:The main road on a hot day. Excellent sound proof glazing but on a hot day with the window open a lite noisier. But all other facilities do good it can be forgiven!
Review 105:Cleanliness, excellent sized rooms and facilitues in room. Marilyn extremely helpful and welcoming. Nothing too much trouble. Will return for sure. Marilyn, you deserve to succeed! Very comfortable beds too.
Review 106:Victoria Lodge changed owner in April of this year but prospective guests need not be concerned. Everything is to a high standard, comfortable rooms with modern bathrooms, and a superb breakfast. Great little touches e.g. a guest fridge with milk for the tea and coffee, and bottles of water!
Review 107:The road noise, which woke me up very early.
Review 108:The warm welcome, comfort, lounge and delicious breakfast. We were on the way to a graduation the next day and had an excellent choice of restaurants for our celebratory meal- we chose the Thai one, which did not disappoint us- excellent food, service and value.
Review 109:A really warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The room was lovely with a balcony and as it was very warm weather we were able to have it open which was excellent. The food was delicious and the homemade bread at breakfast was scrumptious! We will certainly stay again.
Review 110:My only minor criticism would be the lack of fresh fruit to go with the good muesli and yoghurt.
Review 111:Very clean and comfortable. Bus stop right outside. Parking available and easy to access from the road. Homemade wholemeal bread, and marmalade at breakfast, eggs just right. Plentiful hot water (very hot), super shower. My husband enjoyed the BBC History magazines.
Review 112:Parking was a bit tight. Also it is on a busy road so can be a bit noisy at times if you are looking for a quiet spot to stay.
Review 113:Excellent welcome and care from the owner. Excellent cleanliness and room condition. Good location for access to main roads and area.
Review 114:The warm and friendly welcome. It was also the first time I have stayed somewhere that attention had been paid to requests for an alternative to tea and coffee. This is usually ignored!
Review 115:The TV was perhaps a bit small (14in I think) for the room, and parking was a bit cramped at night.
Review 116:The twin room was decent sized and very clean with comfy beds and a great shower/bath. Having a fridge on the landing was useful and the lady who owned the hotel was very friendly, polite and hospitable making us feel very welcome. The breakfast was also very good. The Wi-Fi was very fast and all the channels worked on the TV.
Review 117:I stayed here because it was close to the Warwickshire Golf Course. On arrival I was made to feel most welcome. The car park was full but I was taken by the proprietor to a space behind the B&B and helped in with my bags and clubs. The room was clean and comfortable and had a balcony. Breakfast was excellent . i stayed two nights and was really impressed.I have already booked for next year. The friendly and helpful welcome and the attention to detail made my stay a very pleasant one and i would recommend this place to anyone. Great service.
Review 118:The weather!!
Review 119:We had a friendly welcome lovely comfortable room and good food. The weather was terrible but there was no pressure on leaving at the set time.
