Reviews for Hostellerie Provençale
Review 1:the location of this Hotel is perfect as it is in the center of town in 3 minutes you can be at the Saturday marketThe ambience on this property is amazing and the hosts
Review 2:Parking is difficult in the historical part of town. There is limited private parking not far from the hotel however, check in at the front desk and reception will help you find it.
Review 3:Great location near the historical part of Uzès. Charming hotel. Rooms comfortable. Note the hotel is on a private pedestrian street. So if coming by car, must park on the "ring" street near the pedestrian street and go to front desk for assistance.
Review 4:Personality of proprietors could be a little remote for female members of party. The overall impression was also slightly tarnished by the sense that every last penny of cost was watched - thus bath gel not replenished in 6 day stay. Jacuzzi vents smelt as if they deserve disinfecting and bath outflow needs attention.
Review 5:Well considered decoratively and carefully tasteful Uzienne guest house in authentic medieval location with balcony views. Excellent breakfast ingrediwnts and ambience. Memorable dinner. Worth a return visit.
Review 6:Quite expensive. Rooms are fine but basic for 160 euro per night with breakfast.
Review 7:The location is top right in the centre. Nice people and good breakfast
Review 8:The hotel is perfectly located near the main square and the centre of Uzes. Our room had a delightful character and provided a small balcony overlooking a lively street. We awoke each morning to the wonderful smell of fresh bread from the boulangerie opposite.
Review 9:The bed was very comfortable...room was good sized. Interesting collection of art work throughout the property. The location was great and the breakfast at 12 euros was excellent.
Review 10:the owners are the only staff around. Service is low (no help for luggage or showing the room).
Review 11:beautiful ancient building well decorated with art and ancient furniture in real provencal style. Breakfast was nice with fresh bread and marmelade.
Review 12:Not a bad experience, but felt that breakfast was expensive and should have been more comprehensive.
Review 13:The individuality of the hotel and its decor. Cordiality of the owners. Super location, by the heart of the old town.
Review 14:Had a few problems with the shower.
Review 15:The owners were lovely, so helpful. The character of the building was to our taste. Our room was excellent, beautiful linen and spotlessly clean. The restaurant was of a high standard, with super service.
Review 16:Nothing at all
Review 17:Eric is a dream of a host. Steven in the restaurant is a wonderful maitre d'. The food is fabulous. The rooms are great (with air conditioning!) and you are 2 steps from the fabulous old city with its great marche. Don't miss a stay here. THE BEST!
Review 18:What was there not to like? Great location in the heart of Uzes, well appointed room, very friendly helpful staff and our dog welcomed. Thoroughly enjoyed our night in Uzes.
Review 19:General vibe was unwelcoming. Staff were polite but seemingly aloof and unfriendly.
Review 20:Large room with little balcony. Good working wifi. Convenient location.
Review 21:Thought that breakfast at 14 euros was expensive (no cooked or hot food).
Review 22:Great location, next to the centre of Uzes. Hospitality of hosts. Stylish and distinctive decor. Very pretty dining room.
Review 23:There were no negative points.
Review 24:Very friendly proprietors and staff. Breakfast and dinner on the terrace were delightful. Our room was in an adjacent building to the main hotel, no problem, the room was large and well decorated.
Review 25:Hard to access with a lot of luggage. Noisy at night for country dwellers
Review 26:Proximity to centre of Uzes. Very helpful and welcoming hosts. Good taste everywhere.
Review 27:Although facility was advertised as having free wifi throughout it didn't work well (hard to connect to and dropping out) in our room.
Review 28:Property was well located in the centre of town, close to main square, markets and restaurants. Parking was nearby in parking lot. Generous sized room.Cute dog on premises
Review 29:One of the hosts was very kind and friendly, the other not so much.
Review 30:The location of the hotel was perfect. The rooms were accessible by elevator. The bathroom was clean and modern.
Review 31:The parking facility is not close to the hotel. The rooms we had were not the main hotel , but opposite unit, which has no lift.
Review 32:Breakfast is really very good! Location of the hotel is very centralized and convenient!
Review 33:Poor attitude towards customers. No where to unpack clothes so had to be left in suitcase all the trip . Overall a place that is more concerned with the superficial than substance.
Review 34:Rooms are homely, not like fancy hotel. But art work is so great. And everything is there - just hidden in a wardrobe or something. And everything is spotlessly clean - so no complaints at all!
Review 35:Eric was just so great! The staff so helpful! So accommodating and helping me find exactly what I needed in town to have the best stay. Changed travel plans to go back next week!
Review 36:Wifi a bit difficult to get into.
Review 37:All my criteria for a perfect hotel were met: a safe, magnifying mirror, toiletries, good bedside reading light, Kleenex, good towels. Interesting and sometimes quirky decor. Friendly staff.
Review 38:Nothing
Review 39:Location was just great for exploring the delightful town of Uzes. This very good hotel has a small restaurant serving excellent quality cuisine based on regional produce. Very pleasant staff who went out of their way to ensure a most enjoyable stay. The top floor room was large and very quiet. The hotel is just a few metres from the inner road circling the town. No on-site parking, but a staff member helps you locate the nearby parking station, so really, no inconvenience. The medieval, pedestrianised town centre is metres from the hotel. We look forward to returning in future.
Review 40:Breakfast was offered on a cold option only. No cooked option available. No warm bread or croissants. Quite expensive for what was given @ €14 p/p. No wine in mini bar or tea and coffee facilities offered in the room.
Review 41:Great location and option of secure parking was a great addition. Very clean.
Review 42:Loved this hotel. As the headline states, it's quaint and quirky. Eric has decorated in such an eclectic manner - and he suits the hotel perfectly! I thought the décor was fantastic. Lovely dinner in the restaurant, and great breakfast served at the table, as opposed to every other hotel having a buffet. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone - particularly my friends!
Review 43:For what appeared to be a quiet location, there was a good bit of street noise and the street barrier that allows access to cars was very noisy every time it went up & down so we didn't sleep well but that was no fault of the hotel and having the lovely front view terrace was worth it.
Review 44:Pretty much everything! The hosts were very gracious, we loved the way they kept the historic feel of the hotel while modernizing the décor and amenities. Our room was one of the most spacious we had of 9 hotels during our trip and loved having the terrace. Breakfast ranked among the top of our hotels.
Review 45:The staff were cold and distant, we felt we were an inconvenience. Our friends dined in the resturant the following evening and had a similar experience. Having expected a warm reception on foot of online reviews, this was particularly disappointing.
Review 46:The location and the room
Review 47:Nothing!
Review 48:Fabulous location in a very special village. Our hosts were absolutely charming and always so helpful. We had a very special dinner in the restaurant - the best we had in Provence! A must if you stay there! Our room was perfect and the bathroom was especially lovely. We absolutely loved our Uzes experience. Go during the music festival at the end of July. Very special!!
Review 49:Just loved the friendly , fun filled hosts & their happy Spaniel, Hurley . Beautifully decorated room with attention to every detail. Nothing too much trouble & even tolerated my poor French. Delicious breakfast with dinners at the terrace restaurant perfect. Fireworks on Bastille Day were a treat from the terrace.
Review 50:Staff, helpful with our luggage. Relaxed vibe. Beautiful rooms, as far from a modern hotel as you could possibly get (that being the highest compliment we could give!) Amazing individual touches like original art everywhere, gorgeous toiletries, the biggest vase of perfect roses in reception. We arrived too late for dinner but Breakfast was lovely. Best hotel of our month long trip.
Review 51:Can hear some of the noise from the kitchen/dining room if you're in a lower floor. But, it all ended at a reasonable hour.
Review 52:Perfectly located near to all the sites in Uzès. Nice staff. Nicely furnished rooms with modern bathroom. Air conditioning. Convenient parking close to hotel.
Review 53:Sometimes cooking smells (fish) from the restaurant infiltrated the lobby.
Review 54:Location, friendliness of the staff, clean, charming, anticipated our desires.
Review 55:They were super nice & helpful. The rooms were large & charmingly furnished. It was best hotel we've been to on our stay in France
Review 56:We liked everything!
Review 57:Charming hotel. Quiet location. Outstanding staff.
Review 58:Location - right in town and walking distance to everything
Review 59:Loved the location in the town
Review 60:Location is great. Eric and Francois are lovely hosts.
Review 61:ZERO BAD !
Review 62:EVERYTHING~
Review 63:Attitude of staff, lack of parking, no A/C to speak of, street noose
Review 64:Breakfast a little disappointing
Review 65:Comfortable and convenient
Review 66:characterful room. Location.
Review 67:Breakfast served too late from 8h30am. Tatty carpets in the bedroom.
Review 68:The feeling of being safe and cozy.
Review 69:Can't think of any !
Review 70:Location in center of town is great. Nicely decorated and authentic. Nice dinner on the balcony.
Review 71:Parking is a problem. Uzès hotels need to work out a concept for their visitors. Currently a mess.
Review 72:Location Arty decoration Great breakfast
Review 73:Lovely place - everything excellent
Review 74:Eric the co owner was very helpful in recommending places to visit. The room was very tastefully decorated
Review 75:It was tough parking the car in the P-garage. Wifi in the room wasn't to good.
Review 76:We liked the atmosphere, the style. A very cosy place.
Review 77:Generally found a significant proportion of the staff difficult to deal with, i.e. Language difficulties. Also found the Owners to be rather unfriendly and disinterested, which was surprising for a hotel prepared to cater for International Traveller's.
Review 78:Close to old centre and walking distance to restaurants and bars. Car parking reasonably close, you had to have a staff member to access. Room (we had balcony) of a good size and comfortable.
Review 79:Francoise, Eric and Ellie the dog are all fabulous and made our stay wonderful. We loved the eclectic art at the Hostellerie and the breakfasts were an excellent start to each day. We look forward to visiting again.
Review 80:The restaurant was a big disappointment, tries too hard, poorly executed dishes. Perhaps it was because we were there on a Monday night. No hot water in all three bedrooms! Management got an electrician in but by that time we'd checked out. Awkward locking of front door/security.
Review 81:Nicely done up building, comfortable beds, quirky decor, friendly waiter in the dining room.
Review 82:The double bed was very small even that we had asked for a big double or a twin.
Review 83:very well situated nearly in the center of the village. Well renovated. Friendly staff.
Review 84:Parking was 10 minutes walk from the hotel and cost 15 Euros. There waspublic parking available closer and cheaper.
Review 85:Very close to the centre of the Medieval city very comfortable withfriendly and helpful staff.
Review 86:Wifi only works in very small lobby. Garage is 5 minutes walk away, difficult with bags. One staff member not very helpful.
Review 87:Location was excellent, bathroom facilities also very good. Room very attractive and comfortable.
Review 88:This was a beautiful little hotel in a fabulous location. So close to restaurants, shops and the market on Saturday. The rooms were large and very tastefully decorated. Breakfast was excellent and not your average hotel breakfast. Little extras and great staff.
Review 89:The breakfast was not as good as other hotels we have enjoyed. Not a place to go with young children as you would be nervous they may break some of the beautiful artefacts everywhere if they were to run about as children tend to....
Review 90:Beautiful interior, like an art gallery - quite lovely and interesting. Very well catered for in the rooms - even slippers and bath robes! Brilliant walk in shower. Very comfortable and excellent central location.
Review 91:The staff were extremely helpful and courteous, the rooms were a lovely size, very comfortable bed and beautifully decorated. The terrace was lovely to sit and eat breakfast or dinner.
Review 92:First impressions make or break it. The person who we first had contactwith was the chef, who was gruff and we did not feel welcome. Also didnot like the locks on the front door of the hotel from 11pm till themorning. When we tried to go out at 8am, it was still locked!
Review 93:The huge renovated shower.
Review 94:Doggy smell in foyer area and sometimes in the lift. Staff were efficient but not overly helpful. The restaurant flowed over into the foyer at lunch/dinner times, and we felt like we were intruding on diners as we squeezed past them to get to the lift/stairs.
Review 95:Good location in old town near market square, nicely decorated large clean room, excellent breakfast. Assocciated restaurant also excellent (top fois gras). Uzes is charming, but more 'touristy' that we expected.
Review 96:Complicated security for after hours access.
Review 97:No parking on site. Public parking available however
Review 98:Everything was just so. Location was very good, close the the centre of town
Review 99:The wi-fi was poor.
