Reviews for Ramada Solihull, Birmingham
Review 1:Check out took too long needed more staff on reception at these times ,charged us for breakfast when we told them when we checked in we had it in with our booking. Unfortunately we were so long checking out and taxi was waiting for us so I didn't realise until I got home
Review 2:Lovely room and very helpful manageress
Review 3:The mason's arms is adjacent to the hotel and for three out of the four nights we were unable to get to sleep until 2am owing to the pubs disco.we recommend to ask on arrival for a quiet room
Review 4:Location for shops and restaurants
Review 5:however this visit was probably the worst I have had, room 123 was rather shabby - taps in particular. Room was hot as usual and with the window open the noise from the Christmas parties in the function room was too loud to sleep through (both nights). The heaters didn't need to be on in the dining room either (mildest December since records began). Had to intervene on checking in and out and just generally unimpressed by this visit.
Review 6:I have been staying here for over 4 years and the overall experience is good
Review 7:No record of booking when I arrived, it was sorted out. Being asked to pay a bar bill that wasn't mine! The name and signature were not mine and I'd not asked to leave the card open
Review 8:Comfortable room and friendly staff. Moved rooms after a problem with a shower
Review 9:Hotel was cold and rundown. Heater didn't work. No ventilation in bathroom so floors walls and ceiling were drenched constantly. Not up to other ramada standards by far!! Would not stay again. Had to apply for a partial refund which took weeks!
Review 10:Staff were friendly
Review 11:location was under a 10 minute drive into Birmingham centre which was excellent. Room a lot cheaper than equivalent in Brum. Room was spacious very clean and well equipped. The rooms were quiet and the black out curtains and comfy bed meant we had a great nights sleep. The receptionist was very helpful clearly explained things on check in and booked us a taxi. Would definitely stop again.
Review 12:Only in parts the hotel feels quite run down and in bit of a need of refurb.
Review 13:Excellent location, staff helpful and happy. Room very well laid out and equipped.
Review 14:Mezzanine bedroom with metal spiral staircase down to the bathroom. Mouldy smell in ground floor corridor.
Review 15:Walk or bus from rail station. Close to the town centre with all major shops. Cosy bar area. Modern & clean luxury room, comfortable large bed, fridge & safe. Attentative staff.
Review 16:Room wasn't the cleanest but the manager was happy to change our rooms if we requested :)
Review 17:Location was amazing! Value for money was good. Staff were lovely! Especially Athina at the reception, who was on day 3 of work when we arrived was just perfect! Welcoming smile, very polite and happy to help! Thank youuu!! :D
Review 18:Great location 2 mins walk from town centre free car parking. Great town house room ideal for girly Xmas shopping weekend staff very helpful especially as we got a puncture in carpark big shout to Tom hotel maintenance
Review 19:As we arrived at the entrance and walked in there was a vile smell of cat urine, this was on the whole of the lower level and wafted in the restaurant. Had to wait ages to be served in the restaurant . Very tired looking and poor decor in restaurant and corridors of hotel, dull and drab.
Review 20:The double room was great spacious and clean, the food in the restaurant was very good. The lady on reception when we arrived was great.
Review 21:stayed in room 103. friday night was great.had a busy day on saturday and got back to the room at 1030pm to find very loud music being played directly below us and causing the room floor to vibrate. contacted reception and was told that the function below us was going on until 1am. We were moved to another room at 1130pm. not much fun packing our bags and moving to the other side of the building at that time of night.
Review 22:great location
Review 23:Loud music playing until around 2am which was disruptive as we had to be up early. Would have been nice to have been made aware of the noise when we checked in.
Review 24:Lovely clean hotel and friendly staff. Excellent quality food.
Review 25:Hotel is showing its age BUT it's clean and comfortable
Review 26:Handy for NEC , 10 mins away. Friendly staff. Good bar. Good breakfast . Easy walk into town where there are some good pubs and a brill INDIAN
Review 27:Quite dirty, with lots and lots of dust in the bar area, and unexplianed hairs in our bath. Two of the three staff we encountered were miserable.
Review 28:Good location, good parking, one of the three staff we encountered was very friendly and helpful.
Review 29:Rooms are MUCH smaller than they appear in the hotel's photographs of a standard double room and in shabbier condition: worn carpets, well used furniture. Room was impossibly overheated even with the radiators off, we had to sleep with the windows open - in December. Hard bed, poor quality pillows, & patchy wifi completed our disappointing experience. In almost every respect not what one expects of a 4 star hotel.
Review 30:Spacious bathroom and well soundproofed rooms, keeping out even the noise from rowdy Christmas parties going on downstairs. The heritage restaurant and bar areas were lovely, when we were able to use them the next day.
Review 31:Restaurant was chaos. More like Fawlty Towers. Waiter when asked if could have table for 3 advised us they were very busy and kept is waiting. In fact there was only 4 tables used! Mix up on menu and spillages of drinks. fortunately a sense of humour for us through
Review 32:Easy to get to from NEC and good value
Review 33:Tv wire connection was poor, we spent a while sorting it. But just being picky really. All good.
Review 34:Friendly staff and nice cosy atmosphere, I have stayed here quite a few times now. I left an item from my last stay and they returned it to me, great stuff !
Review 35:Scruffy decor, strange smell and mold on the walls. Room freezing, dark and dingy. Mattress very old with holes in it. Extremely noisy guests all night, hardly slept!
Review 36:The location of the hotel was good within walking distance of shops, bars and restaurants.
Review 37:The restaurant is not big enough if it cannot accommodate guests who arrive without previously having booked a table.
Review 38:The room service was exceptional value. Location very quiet
Review 39:Radiator could not be turned off and was pouring out too much heat. Noisy guests woke us up at 4:30am returning from a night out. Shower was scalding hot and could not be adjusted. Breakfast was average to poor.
Review 40:Central location in the heart of Solihull, convenient for the NEC, cheaper than the NEC hotels. Free parking.
Review 41:The noise from the adjacent night club, people running around until 4am, the uncomfortable beds I could go on but have now wasted enough of my time.
Review 42:Nothing
Review 43:Staff in the restaurant took 20 mins to find out what sort of veggie susages they had after asking 3 times we would still be waiting for our tea now if it was up to the staff !
Review 44:nice atmosphere in the bar area though short staffed
Review 45:Walls very thin & heard neighbours very easily! Paintwork very patchy & black gaffa tape on top of stair carpet was not the best intro!
Review 46:Staff very helpful & attentive. Housekeeping staff all very positive & polite. Location very convenient.
Review 47:The room very old furniture battered and tired the room was very cold had to have extra covers. Radiator when on very noisy couldn't keep on due to noise. Did report it but nothing happened.
Review 48:The location
Review 49:I stayed there twice. The first night, I was in a room near the entrance stairs. Was very loud through the night with other guests banging doors and laughing/chatting all through the night. The second time, I asked for a quiet room. They put me in a room near the bowling green. Problem was there is a night club on the other side of that. The bass reverberations rang through the bedroom until 3 am. I asked to be moved but the hotel was fully booked. For this reason, I would not recommend to anyone who need to get a decent night's sleep and has to be awake early the next morning!
Review 50:Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, good food, cosy/comfortable bar, pleasant restaurant with decent prices for evening meals, comfortable bed and pillows.
Review 51:The receptionist on booking gave me the car park ticket back but did not validate it and therefore I had to go back in and ask her to do it. In the room the wardrobe space could be enclosed and a couple of drawers put in.
Review 52:How close it was to the town centre, onsite car parking. The room itself.
Review 53:Bed sheet was marked down the bottom where feet would be, we didn't notice until the following morning or we would have asked them to be changed, Also very dated bathroom and large heater thing in the room, not very nice to look at.
Review 54:Location in Solihull town centre so close to shops and resteraunts
Review 55:The staff especially in the restaurant and specifically at breakfast were terrible, sloppy and unprofessional, each morning we had to ask for coffee and the first morning my coffee was cold and my partners tea was obviously from another table post their use. The staf need some training on how to run service. I am sorry to say this but they were the worst service staff I have ever encountered. I like to make sure hotels I stay in have Wifi and this one did, but I didn't manage to log in to it until the morning we left. Had to use my phone allocation
Review 56:Location was thankfully close to pubs and restaurants
Review 57:woman in the morning was very rude over check out times
Review 58:The guy on the desk when we checked in late on the night was very nice and really helpful. mixed race guy
Review 59:We had a family room for four and it was excellent and spacious. Breakfast staff very efficient, good choice of breakfast buffet. We used the hotel recommended taxi service which was very quick and reasonable.
Review 60:Was spoilt by a group of very loud party goers who came back at 2.30 and proceeded to carry on the party till the early hours. Will definitely have to think about staying here again
Review 61:An excellent location and value for money
Review 62:Room smelled damp, Windows had condensation pouring down them. Tv hummed -reported Wifi terrible, no real connection, it kept dropping out or had very poor signal
Review 63:Nice restaurant Good location
Review 64:Alot of noise at night glass collections, music coming from somewhere until 1am. Room far too hot and because of noise we couldnt open windows. Good selection of food for breakfast but hot food was barely luke warm and some looked like it had been there for hours.
Review 65:Location was brilliant for shops, restuarants etc
Review 66:We booked an executive double suite and found the room was in poor condition. The bathroom door was broken resulting in me getting locked in at 2.30am. The bathroom had not been cleaned prior to our arrival as the bath plughole was full of hair and it wasn't mine.....
Review 67:The location is ideal for the NEC
Review 68:Staff were not always as helpful or informed as they should have been. Room service could not deliver unless I was willing to pay cash. Was overcharged in the restaurant on another occasion and switching on TV was more complicated than in any other hotel I've stayed in.
Review 69:Staff on at breakfast not acknowledge you when paid on way out could have quite easily not been honesty about paying for four breakfast as they didn't know nobody took our room nos at breakfast
Review 70:Location good, easy access
Review 71:Had to pay £5 for room service...disgusting....especially if you are disabled. Never had to pay for room service before in any other hotel! Prices are expensive enough anyway.
Review 72:Location. Very handy for shops and Solihull Town Centre. Also near park. Great Indian meal.
Review 73:We didn't fancy the breakfast at £12 !!!!! Very high.Would have had it had the price been cheaper. Went somewhere else.
Review 74:Everything about our Room was excellent. Reception staff were very good.
Review 75:Been a long time since I've been in a hotel where I heard the sound of people talking in the room next door coming the the walls adjacent and someone snoring in the other room... Next time I will stay at the Premier Inn - much more modern and cleaner and not much difference in price.
Review 76:Location and parking is good.
Review 77:The TV was a challenge! I agree with the Rolling Stones - instruction manual required!
Review 78:The staff were brilliant, particularly Karolina on Reception and Liz in the Restaurant. The curries in the restaurant were excellent - as good as I have had anywhere.
Review 79:The breakfast I thought was greatly overpriced @ £12 per head. ( It's not the price I object too its the value for money) The sausages were in my opinion on the cheap side , solid pink colour inside, instead of meat looking. Bacon salty. They need to keep an eye on the fried eggs, the yolks were hard . The breakfast is my only complaint. I would stay here again but go to Wetherspoons down the road in future.
Review 80:Requested 2 rooms incl a disabled room near reception/facilities. Allocated one room several long corridors away and even further from restaurant - had to borrow a wheelchair as simply too far to walk - and the other the same distance away but on a different floor.
Review 81:Comfortable, clean room. Good food in restaurant
Review 82:It is 6 miles from NEC not 3.1 Booking . Com please note ! Tired not upto Ramala standard ! Tried to send us to the Hilton saying they had no booking ! Room provided huge not a normal hotel room more like a apart hotel ! Breakfast silly price .
Review 83:Indian restaurant
Review 84:Only one member of reception staff on duty in the morning. Tap loose in the bathroom along with a few other issues, not good considering cost of the room!!!
Review 85:Location was good and staff were helpfull.
Review 86:We expected the leisure facilities to be more local to the hotel
Review 87:It's proximity to the main high street, and local restaurants, night clubs and pubs. All within walking distance, including good high street shops
Review 88:Poor service for breakfast. Being new to the hotel, we were left to find our own table, many had no laid out cutlery and also many still had not been cleared from having been already used. In the room, small no of towels for the two of us, plus one of these appeared to have missed its trip to the laundry.
Review 89:The location of the Ramada Hotel and its short walking distance to the main shopping centre was great. Car parking no problem.
Review 90:spiral stairs a bit to steep for me in room otherwise a good standard and a resonable rate including parking
Review 91:good location and rooms a good well set out food good could have been warmer though
Review 92:Really mixed bag of staff - some very good and some really poor. Can't bare to see mobile phones hanging out the back pockets of waiting staff, and even worse when they're checking their phone during breakfast service! Also find it baffling when clearing an empty table is more important than serving people who are waiting.
Review 93:Location for restaurants, bars and proximity to Birmigham/NEC. Pleasant bar staff (mostly) and receptionists.
Review 94:I expected more than a bottle of water and instant coffee in the room. Walls & Doors wafer thin. I could here peoples full conversations as they walked past my door and window. Not Good.
Review 95:Right in Town. Bowling Green a nice treat. Very convenient.
Review 96:My car key did not work - but a member of staff quickly sorted it out.
Review 97:The staff were friendly and helpful and the accomodation was first class. Breakfast was lovely as well...
Review 98:I travelled with my sister who has mobility issues and there were also other disabled guests at the hotel. There are no provisions for disabled guests, for example walk-in shower cubicles: It was obvious that the staff have not been trained in looking after disabled guests. I observed 3 staff chatting on the reception desk, but not one of them helped guests with the exceedingly heavy doors. Check-in time was advertised as 2pm, but my room was not ready until after 3pm.
Review 99:The proximity to Solihull town centre was ideal. The food in the George's Bar was good and really good value for money.
Review 100:They said they put me in a quiet room but it happened to be above the entrance to reception and all I could here was people coming and going all night!!
Review 101:Looked like a block of flats. Things went wrong from the moment i entered too much for 2 or 3 sentences
Review 102:Jiyaan's food was the best asian food very original
Review 103:hotel overbooked thus only 1 room was available, despite reserving two single rooms. staff's solution to this was to book my colleague into a hotel in the centre of Birmingham. no effort made to compensate, for example a free meal at the Ramada hotel they booked us into. staff were unhelpful and to be honest their only concern was to get us out of the hotel as quickly as possible. on my initial booking I indicated that I was due to arrive between 6 and 7, we got there at 740pm. they made no effort to contact me to discuss options before I got to the hotel. I hade to cancel a dinner booked with business partners that evening. as a consequence of this I will not be booking a hotel via your website again nor will I stay at a Ramada hotel. I expect my full booking to be honoured, as I know my account would have been debited if I had not turned up, even though the hotel was deliberately overbooked. I plan to complain to Ramada hotel today
Review 104:Could hear everything outside of the hotel window. Our room was facing a supermarket loading bay so when the early delivery came around 6am-ish we could hear clear as day the beeping alarm while it reversed and the metalic banging as he opened his doors and delivered the goods from the hydraulic lift. But instead the hotel it was lovely and quiet but i dont think the windows are double glazed. But it was only a very small dusruption and did not at all spoil our stay.
Review 105:Everything, great hotel location, clean room comfortable as well. friendly staff
Review 106:I was put in room 101 and there sounded like some generator making noise all night and also there was a clicking noise from outside the window as well.
Review 107:It was a nicer hotel inside than it initially looked when I pulled up outside. Good sized room, breakfast was good and bar was good too. Nice location
Review 108:1) Drinks in the bar was a very poor experience: Gin and tonics poured straight from two bottles with two ice cubes thrown in. No lemon, lime or cucumber. Wetherspoons do much better. 2) On arrival we were given a voucher for complimentary snacks in the bar. I asked in the bar if I could have the snacks to which the reply was "if you like". When it (singular) came without a fork we left. It is better not to offer guests complimentary items if you can't deliver well. 3) Breakfast: we were happy with the menu but the food was cold despite heated surfaces.
Review 109:The position of the hotel is good: convenient for NEC and for Solihull.
Review 110:TV didn't work and wasn't fixed by the time I left. House keeping was slightly rude but customer service manager put things right and i was happy with the outcome.
Review 111:Excellent executive suite. Lovely receptionist and customer service manager.
Review 112:Nothing all excellent Ramada restaraunt excellent
Review 113:The location is perfect for the airport.restaurants.bars and excellent shopping Staff could not do enough for you!
Review 114:Loud thumping music from pub next door till 2.30am, Long long corridors to walk to and from room and £12 for breakfast seemed extortionate.
Review 115:the location is good. The bar is lovely the bedroom sizable.
Review 116:We weren't put in a modern room like on the pictures, but the room was still nice.
Review 117:In the town centre, very nice area and shops. Free parking (thought we had to pay). , huge bed, clean and had all good facilities such as tea and coffee, water, mini fridge, iron and ironing board, toiletries. Most of these aren't given in other hotels (especially for this price).
Review 118:i asked for a bootle of prosecco to be in room when i booked, it wasnt done. Door between rooms let a lot of noise through, towel was very tatty treads hanging of it needed 2 more pillows, 2 on this big matress wasnt enough
Review 119:location and breakfast
Review 120:The hotel was listed as 3.8 miles from the NEC but it was far more. We had 2 single beds with single duvets but the duvet covers were for double duvets so hung off them. The shower was broken and and gave out scalding water only so we could not shower before we left. We had to go early and told reception about the shower as we checked out. They said they would make a note of it but did not offer us anywhere else to shower or offer any recompense. Even the apology was an afterthought. The milk for the tea although UHT was off and unusable. We would not go back to this hotel.
Review 121:The free parking
Review 122:We paid for the executive rooms and although they are spacious they are very dull, tired and in need of a serious update!
Review 123:Excellent location,staff friendly
Review 124:Where do I start? Receptionist checking us in looked as though she didn't want to be there herself, unhelpful. Walking across half the hotel to get to our room the corridors smelt like damp. Carpets and decor tired and need serious revamp. Got to our room, one of the town house suites.. looked nothing like the photos. Old bathroom style, old carpet, dusty and very disappointing. Within 20 minutes of being in the room we were told to keep the noise down, very hard with paper thin walls. Loud music from a club or bar going on until early hours of the morning with no double glazing windows made it impossible to sleep as well as other people talking and shutting doors in the corridor. Child's scribbles on the wallpaper. Fridge not turned on so was warm. For a four star hotel in Solihull I was so disappointed
Review 125:Close to the shops and bars
Review 126:Room looked tired and dated in need of update, windows stuck shut unable to open. Corridors looking tired and showing signs of age. Some bulbs not working in room.
Review 127:Bed was comfortable, room was clean.
Review 128:We were charged twice for the room. We did get a refund but was very inconvenient and ruined our weekend.
Review 129:It was a lovely, comfortable room in a great place.
Review 130:2 minor beefs, first our room, 304 is very poorly lit in the bedroom itself and the bathroom. A couple of standard lamps and a over mirror light would solve the problems. Our morning call on Sunday was missed - unimportant in this case but it could have been.
Review 131:We had a splendid meal in the restaurant on Saturday evening, well looked after and hugely entertained by our waitress Liz.
Review 132:Noise from disco/party until midnight - double glazing not efficient.
Review 133:Great central location in Solihull with free parking. All the shops and facilities are only a few minutes' walk away
Review 134:We had been overcharged by £15 for one of the three rooms but this was efficiently sorted by Elly, on reception, upon our arrival.
Review 135:Liz, in the restaurant at breakfast, was very attentive; a credit to the management. The ladies on reception were also very pleasant and helpful.
Review 136:No black pudding for breakfast. Wedding in progress so unable to get to the bar
Review 137:Bed very comfy, had a few hotel visits this past few months and this bed by far was the best we had slept in. Lovely staff for breakfast especially Liz, lovely smiley helpful member of staff a joy!
Review 138:Booking.Com had omitted to inform the Hotel about our booking even though they had sent confirmation of the booking to us. Long walk from reception to our room.
Review 139:Reception Staff were excellent - They went out of their way to find a room for us even though they were fully booked.
Review 140:The meal in the restaurant was poor we returned the starter uneaten. We were the only people eating in a huge dining room, the whole hotel lacked atmosphere. We cut short our stay and left early. Would never stay there again
Review 141:Location
Review 142:We had a 40 minute wait to go into breakfast because they were reserving half the dining room for a wedding party. When we finally left the dining room after breakfast the wedding party still didn't arrived in there!!
Review 143:All good accept for 40 minute wait for breakfast.
