Reviews for Plas Gwyn B&B and Holiday Cottage

Review 1:What did I like? Everything, a beautiful house, run by a very friendly couple. Comfortable beds with the softest of linen, a large and well appointed bathroom. Breakfast, I won't say any more about it other than try it, you won't be disappointed.

Review 2:Unfortunately the bed wasn't very comfy. A little too narrow and a little too short.

Review 3:It is a beautiful old building and the atmosphere is great. The location in Snowdonia is also great

Review 4:Weekend was to short to enjoy even more! :)

Review 5:Everything! I mean it! Julie welcomed us and took us to our room and even explained the best places in town to go for dinner (like the wine bar). The house itself is tastefully decorated, and while keeping the traditional features is quite modern. A home away from home. Comfortable bed and delicious breakfast prepared by Jan.

Review 6:Nothing

Review 7:They really looked after us nothing was to much trouble, I've stayed at 100 or more B&B's over the years and the welcome here was at the top of the pile

Review 8:The fact I had to leave!

Review 9:Such a great place, everything as described. Wonderful hosts, beautiful rooms and not a bad thing to say. Location to the village is superb!

Review 10:Lovely King Size Room with 4 poster like the house full of character with great attention to detail/spotless. Fantastic hosts could not be more friendly or helpful. Full English was one of the best I ever had. Good parking 1 min walk to the centre. Faultless stay lovely place.

Review 11:Sad we stayed only one night.

Review 12:The room was gorgeous, bed comfortable, great pillows, nice bathroom, attention to detail everywhere. Jan and Julie are a perfect blend of professional and delightful - so welcoming and helpful, with Jan planning a brilliant day's sightseeing for us. Now that we know the area a bit, we shall be back!

Review 13:We loved our stay in the cottage at Plas Gwyn and wished we could have stayed for longer. The owners made us (and our dog) feel very welcome and were very helpful - suggesting places to eat out and go for walks. Without their help we would have missed out on the amazing views of the lakes at Cader Idris. We really liked Dollgellau too and plan to come back again soon.

Review 14:The B&B was very well appointed. the innkeepers were well versed in local attractions and offered valuable suggestions regarding activities. The breakfast were tasty and there was free parking.

Review 15:The accommodation was very comfortable. It was beautifully and authentically appointed. It was quite an experience to stay in a property that is nearly 300 years old! The hosts were extremely helpful and were very familiar with the surrounding locations. We had a wonderful stay - we couldn't fault it in any way.

Review 16:We were self catering in the cottage. We felt that it was too cramped in the kitchen both for cooking a meal and sitting comfortably to eat it. The bed was very hard and was not good for our backs.

Review 17:The location in the centre of Dolgellau. It is easy to walk to the shops and the restaurants. Fine if you just want to prepare a simple breakfast.

Review 18:Beautifully restored and decorated listed property. Host and hostess, Jan and Julie, were amazing. Beautiful breakfast. All the niceties you would expect in a 5 star hotel.

Review 31:The TV had a habit of freezing. Dollgellau requires some upgrading to encourage more tourists with things to do. Whilst we embrace any weather, there was little to do in very wet conditions.

Review 32:The owners were both very welcoming and friendly. Very nice to see. An excellent experience

Review 33:Stunning location with outstanding friendly hosts, we would certainly recommend a stay in this charming period house. Thank you both for making our visit so comfortable and unforgettable, we hope to return!

Review 51:No faults whatsoever.

Review 52:The welcome was the warmest we have ever received and our stay just got better thereafter. The property, including our room, was beautifully decorated, the bed was first class and breakfast absolutely delicious. Jan and Julie couldn't have done anything more for us whether it was suggesting places to eat or helping our routes through the stunning countryside to ensure we saw the best of the area. We will be returning here, that is a certainty!

Review 53:Our hosts, Julie and Jan, catered for our every need, nothing was a problem to them and they were the most attentive couple we have had the pleasure to meet.

Review 54:Poor central lighting. Kettle too small and took ages to boil! Poor sound insulation between bathroom 'false door' and main door.

Review 55:The comfort and decor of the room. The quietness outside even though in the center of town. The 4-poster bed! The truffles! We loved our stay and felt very much at home.

Review 61:everything ,Jan and July were fantastic ,we travel a lot around the world ,this is the first time that you could not fault the accommodation excellent value for money in such a beautiful friendly village

Review 62:The cooked breakfast wasn't really to our liking, albeit we ate it. We prefer a more crispy bacon and a well done breakfast.

Review 63:Location, friendliness of management (Jan and Julie), room.

Review 64:That we only stay for two night :)

Review 65:This B&B sets itself apart from many by offering beautiful accommodation that is both stylish and unique. The hosts are wonderful and go to great lengths to make sure their guests are well looked after!

Review 66:Me and my partner came on a motorcycle! Jan & Julie catered for our needs! They shut the gate for us for the bike even though we felt very secure! Plas Gwyn had very intricate details that made it feel unique! Jan & Julie catered extremely well, and were great hosts and company!! Thankyou for our excellent stay!

Review 67:Julie and Jan were absolutely lovely and welcoming! They gave us a lot of tips to explore the beautiful area around Dolgellau. Wonderful facilities and home made breakfast!

Review 68:Nothing we didn't like.

Review 69:Friendly welcoming owners. Lovely building and features. Great location for walking trails. Good choice of restaurants.

Review 70:What was not to like.... Apart from the Wifi not being very good..... Don't let that put you off though!

Review 71:The location of the house is perfect for the town centre and for heading out for the day. The house is beautiful and the hosts were very friendly and gave good ideas on where to visit and breakfast was lovely. There is also free parking which is a bonus in a small place like this... Would highly recommend you visit this place!!

Review 72:The owners were lovely, friendly, helpful people. Delicious home made chocolate truffles for us on arrival, unexpected bonus. Excellent breakfast. Cosy rooms. Overall great experience.

Review 73:The fantastic location, owners who's aim is to ensure your stay is an experience that rivals any accommodation in the UK. Nothing is to much trouble for these (relatively new to the business) proprietors. We will definitely be returning.

Review 74:The holiday cottage has been beautifully decorated. The fire had been made up for us ready to light, the kitchen was fantastically equipped, there was an electric blanket on the comfy bed and it was clean and cosy. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners who also own the b&b next door. We had a look around the rooms in the b&b which were also gorgeously decorated-we will definitely be staying again!

Review 75:Pillows and duvet were feathers/down, which is a positive as long as you don't have allergies, which I do. Had I noticed before going to bed I'm certain the owners would have swapped it for me, so not an issue.

Review 76:Lovely owners, perfect location, comfy rooms and great breakfast.

Review 77:There wasn't anything to dislike. If I was to try and find something it would probably be to have some stronger watt bulbs in the kitchen.

Review 78:The cottage was really cosy and comfortable with open fire and was probably the most well equipped cottage we have ever stayed in. The kitchen is especially well equipped. The owners are very helpful and told us about a local beauty spot we would never have known about otherwise. The cottage is perfectly located in the centre of the town within walking distance of all the pubs and restaurants. I really couldn't fault it and we will definitely be back in the summer!

Review 79:Everything was as described and beautiful photos of Plas Gwyn B&B reflect exactly what it looks like in reality. Breakfast was very good plus we had organic fried eggs that were laid by several local pet hens from a field located just outskirt of Dolgellau. Jan and Julie thank you very much!

Review 81:Nothing at all. Just perfect.

Review 82:Kind and welcoming owners with good local knowledge. Property is just lovely with large comfortable and tastefully decorated rooms. Location excellent. Stroll into town which is just a magical place. Highly recommended.

Review 83:The cottage was lovely, in a beautiful Welsh village. The owner was very helpful and generous. He helped us whenever we asked him. I can suggest the hotel and the cottage for travelers who they want to spectate the Rally Wales.

Review 84:Only 1 slight problem, that being poor WiFi reception in my room.

Review 85:Very friendly owners and could not do enough for you. A very warm welcome and the room was beautifully decorated, the bath was excellent with piping hot water. Overall 9/10

Review 86:This didn't bother us but some people may not want to share a large table at breakfast and may want their own individual table.

Review 87:We loved the old traditional cosy feel of the b&b and it was nice and central. Breakfast was superb and staff friendly.

Review 88:There was nothing not to like..amazing place.

Review 89:Very accommodating. Gorgeous place. Clean which is a must for me..couldn't fault in any way and I'm picky.. Thank you for a wonderful stay also the breakfast was delicious.

Review 90:The first B & B we have been to that has feather quilts and pillows. WOW what an excellent night's sleep; Then linen was crisp and clean and exceptionally soft. The fact that this a grade 2 listed building that has not been spoilt by to much modern refurbishment. Excellent location to do the Mawdach Cycle Trail to Barmouth.

Review 91:Was not informed how to turn the heating up and was not worth lighting the wood burner, hence was quite cold in the evening.

Review 92:Very well maintained and beautiful cottage

Review 93:A great hotel in a beautiful town. Fabulous bedroom and bathroom and excellent service. Highly recommended! There is nothing I didn't like. One thing to note - my SatNav didn't locate the hotel very well but Google maps did.

Review 94:Nothing. We just loved everything

Review 95:Everything. Excellent, helpful hosts who thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and memorable. The home-made yoghurt and muesli, wide selection of local produce for breakfast, home baked biscuits etc were wonderful. Secure, off-street parking, very close to centre of town, wonderfully restored 300 year old stone building, immaculately clean rooms, fresh towels every day, great suggestions for dining and sightseeing....We wanted for nothing. It was simply a fantastic 3 days which we will treasure.

Review 96:First impressions certainly count and this place has the wow factor. The decor is beautiful and the bedrooms super. We stayed twice and each time everything was spot on. The freshly cooked breakfast was delicious and served in a gorgeous dining room. Everything about this place is superb. Free parking is an added bonus. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners who certainly have made this place into a first class B & B.

Review 97:Nothing!!

Review 98:The warm welcome, the beautiful surroundings and cosy accommodation plus every little thing a guest would need was provided without having to ask. A lot of thought had gone into the decoration and furnishings to give the house an authentic atmosphere. We loved it and will be coming back!!

Review 99:Check in ist too late in bad weather, we were lucky, the sun was shining all day an we took a wonderful trip by bycicle to the coast.

Review 100:Wonderful house, beautiful room full of historic atmosphere, nice owners

Review 101:foam pillows

Review 102:house was listed and character features were delightful. the pair who owned and ran it could not have been more pleasant and accommodating

Review 103:Wi fi quality not very good. Prefer my own table at breakfast, not a morning person so prefer to be alone!

Review 104:The B & B is very clean and the breakfast was alright.

Review 105:Nothing. If one found a negative about this B and B you would be someone very hard to please.

Review 106:Our room was spacious with a sitting area. The hosts had thoughtfully provided complimentary water, a fridge with fresh milk and a selection of reading materials. The room also had a safe. James showed us a list of local restaurants and called the one we selected to make a booking as it was Friday evening. When we went down to breakfast the table was beautifully set and it seemed a shame to disturb the ambience to sit down and eat. The property has been restored in keeping with the period it was built and is heritage listed. The owners have decorated rooms with interesting and tasteful pieces and were accommodating hosts. The rooms and bed were very comfortable and they have thought of everything.

Review 107:Town of Dolgelllau is charming. Y Merrionydd Restaurant most excellent. Room at Plas Gwyn as just perfect for us and the staff was super friendly. Breakfast delicious. On-site parking plentiful. Highly recommend. This place was impeccable.

Review 108:Nothing!

Review 109:Every small detail had been thought of and cottage itself is adorable. We had everything we needed to enjoy a relaxing couple of days in Dolgellau and didn't want to leave! the owner was also really friendly and helpful without being intrusive - thank you for a lovely stay!
