Reviews for Brentwood Inn by Good Night Inns

Review 1:it was NOISY - the rooms at the front have the car park & main road to contend with. And windows are single glazed.

Review 2:well equipped rooms for the price

Review 3:Breakfast was very average. No cleared tables and cheap products. Order was wrong when it came.

Review 4:Good venue for visiting Sheffield or a concert at the Arena. Lovely rooms and very friendly staff. Slept well. Will use again but have breakfast elsewhere.

Review 5:Staff were not as helpful as they could've been seemed to busy to even check us in but were still polite.

Review 6:The room was fantastic value for money and beautifully decorated with great facilities both in the room and within the local area. All round a great stay!

Review 7:An unattended reception desk!! No one around and no one responding to a buzzer, I went in to the kitchen to ask a chef for someone to give us our room keys! The response "We are all busy". A bath would have been nice, but it seems the shower/bath switchover had been isolated to shower only. On our second morning, we went for breakfast where no one had cleared any tables from previous customers, so we started to do it, clearing crockery, wiping tables and sourcing cutlery! "I will do that" says the breakfast girl, well why hadn't she before??

Review 8:Noise from other guests and location of room. Attitude of staff on arrival and waiting time.

Review 9:Ideally situated for seeing a show at Sheffield City hall (20min drive) Facilities to eat at hotel.

Review 10:The very cold bathroom Due to old sash Windows they were very draughty making the door move Hot tap not turning down and close ness of television on wall with inches clearance

Review 11:The food The entertainment The location The staff The rooms cleanliness

Review 12:Couldn't get a cup of coffee in the bar. I was attending a course and wanted to relax in there at lunchtime. I was told they didn't have coffee.

Review 13:Room was very cosy (annexe) and bed extremely comfy

Review 14:Location is approx 30-45min walk from rotherham centre, but it was ideal for my needs. Room a bit small but for the price it was excellent value for money!

Review 15:Cleanliness, friendliness of the staff, breakfast was good. Room was comfortable with everything functioning well.

Review 16:We had a one night stay at the Brentwood Inn. The hotel had clean rooms and breakfast was good. We didn't have time to try the pub but it seemed nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 17:Nothing

Review 18:I work away a lot and often at different places but will be booking back up for next week today as the staff were so helpful and the food was great.

Review 19:Breakfast was basic but for the money you cannot complain.

Review 20:Staff were friendly and accommodating. The family room was more like two rooms! Very good value.

Review 21:Hostess and staff welcomed us was 10/10. Nice breakfast, nice pub next door, nice rooms, warm, comfortable. Manageress of hotel side new her job well. Well done and thank you.

Review 22:The room was a little small and dimly lit. There was no complimentry shampoo or soap, just hand soap out of a squeezy bottle over the sink. Breakfast staff were slow to keep things topped up, i.e. fruit salad bowl was pretty empty. Out side in the morning was just a mess.

Review 23:The price was ok,cooked breakfast was tasty.

Review 24:Reception smelt of food on entering hotel. We booked two rooms and they were at opposite ends of the hotel

Review 25:Clean rooms and fairly quiet Helpful and friendly staff

Review 26:Being told we did not have a reservation even though we had our on line one sent by booking.com. My assumption must be that booking.com were aware of this issue and even though i booked 4 days prior nothing was done by them to fix the issue or advise me of an issue. We could have ended up without a room had the hotel not had one room left.

Review 27:Staff were excellent, manager in particular bent over backwards to make sure we had a room after booking.com reservation did not get allocated due to a on line issue they had. We were given a room at reduced rate and a free breakfast for our inconvenience. Many thanks must be given to the hotel manager and staff for there help.

Review 28:The room was spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable, particularly the pillows. The location was very peaceful. The staff were very friendly and helpful; I would certainly stay again.

Review 29:Small double bed. Dent in wall next to bed. No power points near bedside tables. No biscuits on tea tray. Not enough tea bags. No hot chocolate. Drunk people shouting outside at midnight.

Review 30:Very friendly helpful staff. Good location. Lovely restaurant. The double bed was not a full double and although comfortable it was a bit small. Overall a smart, clean comfortable hotel with friendly staff and good value.

Review 31:The hotel is really out dated And the hallways to my room smelt stale. The hotel staff was horrendous. When I went to check in I was waitingaround for the receptionist for around 10 mins to appear I then wentinto the bar of the hotel and asked to be seen to the bar staff advisedshe will get someone to check me in. Another 10 minutes later still nosign of receptionist.I Had to walk into the hotel kitchen and ask thechef to find me the receptionist. Eventually after over 20 minutes ofwaiting he checked me in didn't even ask how I was going to pay so Ihad to ask if I could so he took cash from me. Ive since received a £1charge for not showing my card to the receptionist which I wasn'tmade aware of this is only a pound but its besides the point. Thereceptionist was half asleep he just handed the keys and didn'tpoint me properly in the right direction to my room. I paid £75 to stayon a ground floor in a scruffy hotel and to receive appalling customerservice I would not got here again.

Review 32:Would have liked to be able to open the window in the bedroom as it was very warm, but not able to. Managed to wedge it open a little with toilet roll.

Review 33:An all round excellent evening and day at the Hotel. Staff very helpful in helping to find locations in Rotherham.

Review 34:Breakfast very basic could do with more selection for continental

Review 35:New beds in Annex were great ,I was studying so that was important also very quiet at night

Review 36:On initial arrival went to reception, there was no staff, I rang the bell a couple of times but they must have been busy elsewhere. My family and I had to go for drinks in the pub to wait it out.

Review 37:Staff were friendly. My 6 and 4 year old had their own en suite bedroom...total plus and a first. Bed was comfortable, we had a good night's sleep.

Review 38:the room was very badly lit and not enough towels. There was also no hair dryer but it was explained that the staff should've offered one on check in. We were only there overnight so it didn't matter too much.

Review 39:Friendliness off staff. Location. Size of room and breakfast.

Review 40:Immediately on arrival we were met by a welcoming smile, nothing was too much trouble. Every effort was made to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Review 41:checking in/checking out process was a bit poor.

Review 42:Stayed in the annex of the hotel this was fantastic as you could let yourself back in without disturbing reception staff, especially good after a concert.

Review 43:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are light and airy with large mugs for that welcoming tea on arrival or that wake up tea! Restaurant served an ample choice for breakfast including fresh fruit available as well as a very tast Full English

Review 44:Only a small inconvenient but, despite several attempts we couldn't get the wifi to work in our room.

Review 45:The bed was new and very comfortable and the midday checkout was a bonus. The place was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. While it's nothing flash I think it is very good value for money.

Review 46:We stayed for three days. The accomodation was clean and comfortable. However the location was a bit retired for us as we were not travelling by car. Staff was propper though everyone seemed surprised about a latin american family touring England.

Review 47:Set up a tab behind bar but they got it mixed up. If I had not checked bill we would have been paying for someone else's drinks. Beware .....stick to paying as you go.

Review 48:Lovely clean hotel. Staff brilliant. Drinks a bit pricey but food delicious.

Review 49:The duvets were cheap and did not offer warmth or any decent amount of comfort.

Review 50:Helpfulness and friendliness of staff .. view from the room. Location was clear and clean for our itinerary.

Review 51:Room could have been cleaner and hairdrier didnt work but beds comfy and bedding and towels spotless

Review 52:Location good and food and drink available on site is a bonus

Review 53:The staff were very helpful, the kitchen worked well as did the bar. Simple things like directions to the laundromat and where to find things at the shops made the stay so much easier

Review 54:the bathroom had mould showing and was generally in need of refurbishment

Review 55:the staff were cheerful and helpful. the very low price of our room and it's size

Review 56:Rooms were badly in need of a total refurbishment.

Review 57:Parking good. Food on the evening was good but would advise bookingmeals ahead of stay as we were told it was fully booked when we arrived, however staff found us a spare table in the bar.

Review 58:smell of fungus in room and bathroom! not a clean feeling...

Review 59:very friendly staff that helped to our very early breakfast, really sweet, thanks for that!

Review 60:I was in the annex and the overwhelming smell as you walked in was of stale cigarette smoke. Don't know if there is a smoking area nearby or it's a legacy from when you could smoke in the room but it was very strong. The window latch was broken so as a single female in a ground floor room I didn't feel the room was very secure.

Review 61:The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was clean and bright and the location convenient and quiet.

Review 62:Breakfast wasn't very good, eggs bit rubbery! Pity restaurant didn't offer more choice, just steak, ribs etc bit limited.

Review 63:Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel has nice atmosphere, not the smartest building but warm and comfortable.

Review 64:There was no cask beers on and im a cask ale drinker. No explanation given nobody seemed intrested

Review 65:Shower and bed were very good and my evening meal was nice

Review 66:restaurant had 6 choices of steak only 4oz available decided to have ribs instead not available had kebab asked for asked for cookie apple crumble not available. apparently the delivery was not due untill tuesday. sorry but thats not good enough for a restaurant open to the public as well as residents

Review 67:breakfast

Review 68:The hotel is in desperate need of renovation and updating. Not enough staff to meet demand as they were rushed off their feet.

Review 69:Good bar and restaurant, very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 70:Rooms need updating badly.

Review 71:Lovely staff but not enough of them to keep on top of everything. Breakfast buffet stripped bare by time we got there and had to ask for everything we needed even down to cups and cutelry.

Review 72:Room and bathroom (R14) in need of refurbishment. No safety mat provided for bath. Appreciate that this available from Reception, but in this age of compensation claims a mat really should be provided in the bathroom. Please accept this as good advice from a retired Risk Consultant to the trade !!

Review 73:Quiet. Food good, particularly breakfast. Staff ranged from OK to really nice. No hassle parking.

Review 74:Only gripe was no internet connection til we asked on the second night, but sorted promptly and not really a big deal to be honest.

Review 75:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Will be visiting often as my future daughter in law lives local. My grandaughter also enjoyed her stay and her breakfast.

Review 76:We thought the breakfast was overpriced at 7.99 because they ran out of several essentials ( like fresh orange juice!) we had to keep asking for basic things we were supposed to help ourselves to, like tea bags and sugar, no one was replenishing used items, perhaps they were short staffed, but on the whole breakfast was a disappointing experience.

Review 77:Staff very helpful and friendly. We had our evening meal in the restaurant and the food was fabulous, well priced and although extremely busy the service was spot on. Rooms were a little tired but clean and comfy.

Review 78:Flaking paint on the ceiling over the shower. Creaky floorboards

Review 79:Convenient for Sheffield and Rotherham. Plenty of parking and reasonably priced meals.

Review 80:the bathroom facilities are a little tired and could do with upgrading. tv reception was poor at times.

Review 81:friendly staff and excellent breakfast. room was clean, .comfortable and quiet. food was good in the grill bar.

Review 82:I think the people in the room above were having party dnt get to sleep till abt 4 had to be up at 7 so wasnt very happy there was noone on reception to tell

Review 83:Comfortable bed friendly staff

Review 84:The bed was not very comfortable; also, the room I stayed in had just 2 small windows, very different from the pictures they show online. It was still nice though.

Review 85:Clean, friendly staff, good breakfast, nice restaurant in the hotel.

Review 86:One of our rooms(7) had holes in the wall which had been covered over with plywood. Also Not particularly clean.Furnishings in rooms and Bar/restaurant in desparate need of refurb.member of staff mistakenly attempted to gain entry to room 7 at 1:00am. frightening Son-in Law and Daughter. Was unaware they were in it.Rooms we were assigned bore no resemblance to website images.Overall hotel shabby.

Review 87:Friendly staff good breakfast.

Review 88:It was very busy when we arrived and it took a while for reception staff to come to reception when we rang the bell.

Review 89:Quietness of accomodation, size of room and bed

Review 90:both my wife and I are over 70 years old and the original room allocation was up four flights of stairs, however this was rectified after the first night

Review 91:Customer service was excellent but more care needs to be taken in the allocation of rooms.

Review 92:The bedrooms are in dire need of redecoration. The ceilings and walls are in need of being stripped back and started from scratch. In some cases the bathrooms are in need of being changed and the tiles and panelled areas renewed.

Review 93:Clean and fresh in the bar area and the reception.

Review 94:We where in the annex so can't say for the hotel but was noisy till about 11 then went peaceful the room although adequate could have done with a good clean there where stains on the wall and the grout in bathroom could have done with a scrub

Review 95:The bed was comfortable and clean the breakfast as was the meal we had in the pub night before was excellent both in taste and value

Review 96:Food in the Resturant was disappointing and the price of a breakfast off putting and really should have been included in the room rate of B&B.

Review 97:Plenty of space and nice warm room and comfy bed and lots of hot water.

Review 98:Rooms in the annex are in need of some TLC. Shower broken and towel rail hanging off the wall. Could be dangerous if someone used it as a handrail to exit the bathtub.

Review 99:Good price Good evening meal Good location 12 noon checkout Private parking

Review 100:Just looking a bit run down and tired. My bed wasn't very comfortable and the shower temperamental

Review 101:The staff were excellent. Friendly helpful and nothing was too much trouble

Review 102:we booked the meal for 4.30 and were eventually served at 5.45. It was busy but peoples expectations need to be managed as we had just spent a 3 hour car journey getting to the venue. We were sat next to the entrance to another room which was holding a children's Christmas party which we were not told about at the time of booking. We could not hear each other speaking once the DJ started, hence cancelling out the reason we were all there in the first place to enjoy a family "get together" and catch up. The room was in need of updating and shabby but comfortable and well furnished. Good value for money all round but disappointing experience with the dining area as we had to wait one and quarter hours to be fed and then endure a kids disco during the meal.

Review 103:facilities in the room were fine and location of the hotel suited our needs as we were having a pre Christmas dinner with relatives who live in Rotherham

Review 104:The bed... needed a memory foam mattress protected on to hide and cover the join on the 2 single bed pushed together to make our super king. This was quite disappointing.

Review 105:Location is great

Review 106:The decor is looking a bit tired but this is being updated in January. So I can't fault anything with the hotel at all.

Review 107:The location and price of this hotel was above expectations. The friendliness of the staff was second to none. The quality of the food available was amazing and really good value. Very much recommend this hot and will definitely be staying here again when we are in the area.

Review 108:Got told not to rush to check our as there was no guests due boxing day and we were ok till around 2/3pm. However the cleaner didn't seem too happy about this.

Review 109:Staff where very accommodating, the first room they put us in hadn't been cleaned with it being Christmas day, only a slight over sight, and we were moved quickly enough. Lovely old building.

Review 110:Rooms weren't cleaned while I was there. Mold all over shower area, especially on the curtain. Car park in front gets filled with cars from bar. So have to park round back in an unlit park. Ok for me but maybe not for single females. Apart from check never saw one member of staff and no one there to check out so just left the key.

Review 111:Location to local amenities. Good food in bar next door.

Review 112:Skirting board in bedroom 27 grubby, corners of carpets not very clean but bathroom fine. Some lamps need bulbs. Staff friendly and helpful when asked though.

Review 113:Location good for us and room at back was quiet. Staff friendly and helpful.

Review 114:When I booked in the reception was empty.( Why no bell?) As instructed, I went through to restaurant ( complete with my bags) to find staff.I was greeted by a young man with beer/lager in his hand,(he brought it through with him when he checked me in.) Not impressed!!

Review 115:The morning staff were excellent. The food was nicely cooked, no complaints.( Regardless of check in given highest mark for staff)

Review 116:Pub was so busy we couldn't get a table so had to eat elsewhere. Too much mould in bathroom. Thought we would be staying in the lovely old main building, not the 70's annex.

Review 117:Easy walk into centre. Fairly cheap.

Review 118:The price of the room was reflected on the quality. The room had large food stains high up and around the walls. The runner at the end of the bed had a large stain in the middle of it. The bathroom was dirty and the tiles are dropping off the wall. You get what you pay for !

Review 119:I liked the facilities and the location. The room was well furnished spacious. The room was cheap.

Review 120:We were not expecting to stay in an ex old people's home/youth hostel! (Not the main building but an old building next door!)Very dated and not pleasantly smelling. Was hoping to recommend to friends but don't dislike any of my friends that much!

Review 121:Staff were good, helpfull and friendly.

Review 122:The room was poor standard,There was mould on the walls of our room, the adjoining room had an awful drain like smell, the windows didnt open in that room or in the main bathroom which also had rotten window frames,No remote for the TV,bed not very comfortable.

Review 123:Food was good in the pub resetraunt,Staff friendly.Hotel was surprisingly quiet, that said we couldnt open the window so any noise was restricted.

Review 124:I stayed in an annexe to the hotel which did not seem very safe. Window locks broken. Entrance to room run down and dirty gave very poor impression. Décor in room poor furniture chipped. I was on ground floor curtains wouldn't fasten properly.

Review 125:Staff lovely Bed comfy Lovely breakfast

Review 126:Dirty bathroom, black mould around the bath and shower. The bath panel was swollen and black. There was also a strange musty smell in the room and disturbed my sleep it was so strong. The bright lights outside the building made the room very light to sleep.

Review 127:Big comfy bed Very quiet

Review 128:Very peaceful and relaxing even though it's attached to a pub, couldn't hear a thing . Staff were very helpful, pleasant and polite. Room was very comfortable had a lovely weekend there beautiful grounds for the kids too

Review 129:Brick annexed room had a mouldy smell from damp. Clean presentation, bed comfortable. Connecting bar boosted a beer festival in progress but only had one cask ale available, why? This hotel is somewhere to sleep that's all.

Review 130:Location to Rotherham centre.

Review 131:Bedrooms clean and well presented but a bit tired, especially the bathrooms which could do with a bit of attention.

Review 132:The member of staff who dealt with us was excellent and ensured we got a table on a very busy Saturday night. Good location in a quieter area so no noise overnight. The restaurant facilities were excellent and very good value. Overall a god stay and I would definitely chose to stay here again.

Review 133:The rooms are a little bit run down particularly the bathroom. The heated towel rail was loose from the wall but I think you get what you pay for really.

Review 134:The staff were really friendly and helpful making sure I had everything I needed. The pub attached to the hotel is really handy for food and the breakfast that is on offer within the hotel for a small charge is great. The room was warm and the bed really comfy

Review 135:The bath room defiantly needs some tlc also bath room smelt a bit of a old persons home.

Review 136:The staff was lovely and very helpful the food was nice but don't get the peri peri chicken as that wasn't so nice :S. The room was lovely and clean, good telly and good facilities. The bar was lovely and well presented.

Review 137:There was heavy mould growth in the bath surround and on the back of the curtain! A steam cleaner would have done this job very easily. No soap, two light fittings required bulbs. A very badly cracked sink could lead to harm! as it had sharp edges! Room 21!

Review 138:keeness to help The staff attention made up for our complaint! The food and service excellent and very reasonable priced

Review 139:Bathroom had mould, also had a damp smell. Had hole in the bath. No hand wash or shower gel on the dispensers. Rooms are ok but in need of an update, especially the bathroom

Review 140:Pub was nice, good service. Reasonable value
