Reviews for Brecon Hotel Rotherham Sheffield
Review 1:For £100/night I expected more than a dilapidated old room with uneven mattresses and a shower that sprayed more water from the base of the tap than from the shower head. Extremely poor value.
Review 2:The accommodation was in an annex at the back of the main hotel which was closed for refurbishment therefore the room felt very isolated with no staff on duty. The walls were so thin I could clearly hear the TV then the snoring of the man in the next room and the furnishing and decor felt dated and grubby. Also there was a water leak in the bathroom ceiling. Let's hope the annex is next for refurbishment!
Review 3:The location.
Review 4:Dated rooms but we weren't looking for the ritz
Review 5:Reasonably close to the arena, all we wanted was a cheap room for one night somewhere near the arena. At £50 a night it was good value for money.
Review 6:Bathroom was dirty, door to the bathroom was broken, toilet seat was badly stained. Stains on the duvet, the floor and the wall. Response from Management was poor "this isn't a five star hotel, you expect stains" was their response. Certainly wasn't worth £80 for the room. We weren't told until we got there that the restaurant was shut for the duration of our stay.
Review 7:Good location Pleasant receptionist
Review 8:Hotel is under restoration, so main hotel not available to access. no food or breakfast facilities at the moment.
Review 9:Convenient, rooms were warm and comfortable
Review 10:We had 3 rooms for 3 nights yet our used cups were never washed or swapped for clean. Sheet on double bed was too small to tuck in on either side of bed. Ground floor room disturbed by creaky floor above and could clearly hear occupant moving about and their 5.45am alarm!
Review 11:Room and bedding were clean and room was warm.
Review 12:Room was in annex reminded me of a contractors hostel. Room smelt damp, carpets needed cleaning and it was in need of a refurbishment. No opportunity for breakfast.
Review 13:Location suited purpose of visit
Review 14:not very well kept room dirty found hair in the bed, shower dribbled out like a tap and leaked, didn't get clean towels everyday and room wasn't cleaned for entire stay, when we did get clean towels it looked like someone had wiped their bottom on them
Review 15:close to town centre
Review 16:Rooms are dated and in need of a boost. Also be aware that you may not get the room you booked (Booked a double but only given single as they seemed to think this a better option as a solo traveller)
Review 17:Tesco Express opposite for those essentials
Review 18:Room stank of cigarette smoke (and I mean more than just if one cigarette was smoked), even though it was a none smoking room - it was horrendous! don't know where it was coming from but it was still as bad in the morning even with windows open all night?? Other room right next door was fine.
Review 19:Good location to Rotherham train station and the cafe at the large Tesco is great.
Review 20:The bed's mattress could've been comfier plus the shower actually work as it was just dribbling... Not hot at all.
Review 21:Good location. Good facilities and clean. Plus a tesco across the road and a bus stop. Perfect.
Review 22:Most of it was closed for refurbishment and there were no facilities apart from a key to a room in the block at the back of the premises. would have been nice to be privy to this information before booking. Walls very thin, hear every conversation. 10am checkout a bit early.
Review 23:Good size room, great location. Coffee & tea facilities, toiletries and free wifi. Pleasant receptionist. Comfortable, clean room.
Review 24:The bar & restaurant was closed for refurbishment which was not mentioned on booking.com
Review 25:Very friendly staff , not far from town centre good size car park
Review 26:On check in I paid the amount of £35 as contracted on the Booking.com website. Lets forget all the other negatives that are purely personal opinion, my real complaint is that 2 days settling my accommodation bill and authorizing the transaction this establishment took a further £20 from my account without authorization. No explanation was given and when my bank requested information to date no justification has been provided. In the world I live in such an action is fraudulent
Review 27:shower head badly needs descaling also more water came out the back of the shower pipe than the head!
Review 28:Was able to check in even though room wasn't ready. Staff very helpful
Review 29:Receptionist only explained how to check out, no directions to our room which turned out to be around the back of the hotel in a separate building.
Review 30:Check out was simple.
Review 31:The sheets were too small for the bed. All night I had to keep getting up and remaking it. It was most uncomfortable. Not only did the sheet come loose but the mattress protector came off with it. Both were poor quality. There was noone at reception the next day to make comments. I couldn't get the sheet to fit the mattress.
Review 32:The room was very hot, as if they had the heater on downstairs. Not only the bed was very uncomfortable, they didin't even have the decency to place sheets that fitted the bed size, with the sheets popping out at the minimal movement, we ended up sleeping on a plain mattres :S
Review 33:Nothing
Review 34:The room was smelly (drains), the wi-fi was rubbish, and although a three person room only towels for two. The reception didn't really exist, you had to press a bell and wait outside for someone to come and see you. No breakfast offered.
Review 35:A reasonable location.
Review 36:No one at reception on Sunday morning so couldn't have any milk. On checking in, was told that no breakfast was available and that "Tesco express was across the road". £80 / night for a very basic room; not worth more than £50! Certainly wouldn't stay there again.
Review 37:Staff off hand, shabily dressed, room very old bed and furniture, no food at all available, and not told before booking, charge 130 for one night, disgusted!
Review 38:The leavingd
Review 39:It's very tired, the beds were incredibly uncomfortable - could feel springs in the mattress, not very clean.
Review 40:It was a roof over my heads for the night.
Review 41:If you book this hotel chances are you won't actually be in the hotel but at bottom of the car park in a small block. Room was clean as was bathroom. Bed is hard as was the pillows. We were in the rooms downstairs and could continuously hear the guest above walking about, so ask for a upstairs room if in this block.
Review 42:description said bar was under refurbushment, previous reviewers said the same over a year ago. room smelled, bathroom was dirtry, bed uncomfortable. constant noice in the early hours from other quests
Review 43:nothing
Review 44:Poor state of cleanliness of beds! Difficult to establish communications - took at at least 5 attempts to talk to someone on published telephone number; no response to email.
Review 45:Wifi was a little weak, room could do with a bit of an upgrade , when I stayed the main building was not available to guests so I guess improvements are in progress
Review 46:The location was good nice an close to town centre , large room
Review 47:I wasn't informed they wasn't serving food or the bar was closed, my room had the worst stale cigarette smell and it's a no smoking hotel! Making a complaint falls on deaf ears and was a waste of breath, if you want to cancel due to a complaint, they will charge you for 2 nights regardless of your complaint and human rights! The showers are in a word, tragic. Safe to say I won't be staying there again!
Review 48:A bit cold had to ask if heating was working. But they soon sorted it
Review 49:It was handy for what we needed it for. Also main hotel under refurbishment so stayed in annex
Review 50:Showers water to hot or to cold no water pressure bed uncomfortable bedding not fitting the mattress. Radiators either far to hot or room to cold all needs up dateing and re decorating .
Review 51:Had a no smoking room but the whole building smelt of cigarettes. Either the smoke alarms were not working or they were tampered with. The plug was the wrong fitting for the bath and the water pressure was too low.
Review 52:The main area of the "hotel" was supposedly being renovated. No bar or eating area except a Tesco Express across the road. It appears to have changed hands since we last visited.
Review 53:Convenient for our requirements
Review 54:Only problem I had was the shower. Wasn't great and it would not stay upright.
Review 55:It was quiet and private. I liked that we were in a seperatly building from main hotel. Warm room and comfy
Review 56:The hotel was undergoing renovation so no bar was available, but this was known beforehand so no big deal.
Review 57:Nice quiet location though still close to centre. Helpful staff offered advice on where to go in absence of onsite bar/restaurant. Comfortable room. Recent below par reviews seem a little precious. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 58:Not VAT registered shower and Taps broken
Review 59:Value for money, fairly good size room and reasonably kitted out. Value for money good parking and location very clean
Review 60:Everything; there is no food; no bar the explanation is that the hotel is being "refurbished" although there is no evidence of this. The room was not clean, the bath had evidence of previous guests, it is impossible to have a bath, the shower did not work properly and the toilet needed cleaning. This hotel demands a great deal of money spent on it. There is no evidence that any refurbishment is taking place.
Review 61:Nothing. There is nothing about this hotel that in any way justifies its existence
Review 62:A good budget hotel for a quick stopover in Rotherham, just 10 minutes down the hill into town. Refurbishment going on there at present so I was put in a room behind the main building which was fine - no frills but ok. A quiet part of town, no disturbances.
Review 63:the photo on the web site was not what I got, I ended up in an annex at the rear of the building nothing like what I expected I would have been very disssappointed had it been for more than one night. The room was very hot with only small fanlights to open, most uncomfortable
Review 64:There was no bar or any food been served at day or night plus there was no breakfast in a morning and u had to be out of ur room by 10am for the price you pay you should be aloud to stay till 12. When I booked the hotel on line the booking said I will pay for the room when I check-in I didnt pay on check-in there took the money out of my account the day before im not please at all
Review 65:The pillows were hard, and the reataurant was being refurbished. I was warmed in advance but I had to take my own food.
Review 66:The ease of finding and staff friendliness
Review 67:Shower is very weak, only a dribble. No breakfast offered
Review 68:Clean, comfortable, quiet room. Only 10 min walk from centre of town. Great value for money
Review 69:Close to where I needed to be
Review 70:Could not connect to wifi most of the time. Could hear a lot of noise from room above.

Review 80:Pillows hard. Shower a little weak
Review 81:Good sized triple room. Large TV. Quiet location. Friendly and efficient staff.
Review 82:easy access to university Sheffield amrc facilities ie 3 minutes away. two reasonably priced restaurants with 2mins walk. quiet and peaceful
Review 83:Convenient and close to town centre, but located out of town which is what we wanted.
Review 84:Noise, run down room,
Review 85:Convenient location
Review 86:the fact hotel was under renovation so no bar or food otherwise all ok
Review 87:The hotel was more than adequate for my needs ( 1 night stay, early departure) I had no complaints.
Review 88:It needs a bar
Review 89:The free wifi and the comfortable bed
Review 90:Dated
Review 91:Very cheap
Review 92:Shower not powerful very little water pressure, Room to warm , bed very hard, hair found in the bed wouldnt stay there again
