Reviews for Ash Cottage Hotel
Review 1:Nothing
Review 2:The bed room was a "bit of luxury ",and dispite flooding the staff were possitive and worked tirelessly to make a difficult situation as good as it could be.They are a credit.
Review 3:Duvet was tatty but duvet sheets were lovely!
Review 4:The staff were very accommodating and friendly throughout, without being intrusive! A special request that was made prior to the check in was completed - this was above and beyond what the hotel might normally do for their guests! It made our stay absolutely perfect!
Review 5:Allowing iPhones at evening meal! Being served short drinks, ie paying for half pt receiving a third of a pint! Bar manager then arguing it was half when glass clearly marked 1/3pt
Review 6:Nice atmosphere and decorated beautifully for Christmas. Super lounge and pleasant comfy room, good food.
Review 7:we turned up to the hotel to find it closed. and in darkness. went to a neighbouring hotel to ask why it was closed to find we had to book in at a different hotel and use the facilities of that hotel, I don't want to get up in the morning and have to put a coat and boots on to walk to another hotel in the tipping down rain to have breakfast, there were no staff at all in our hotel and felt very isolated. I would like to have been told in advance that the hotel with bar and restaurant were closed and only the rooms were being used. when we found the hotel closed we were close to going to find another hotel or going home .
Review 8:the room was very comfortable and very clean, I cannot fault the room at all . it was lovely, breakfast was great, the staff were great,
Review 9:Manager, very rude, unsociable and would benefit from some people skills. 60th bithday treat, family paid for bubbly, and treats in room on arrival. Not once did anyone ask if everything was ok. Manager in particular did not communicate with guests while in lounge area. I am still considering taking this matter further regarding the Managers attitude
Review 10:moved to Red Lion accommodation
Review 11:As we went walking there wasn't hanging space in the room for wet coats, though we didn't ask at the hotel across the road!! The tray for wet boots useful.
Review 12:The room was excellent. Couldn't have asked for anything better. Service at the Hotel very good.
Review 13:We were not aware that it had been taken over by the Red Lion opposite and is now an annexe. No facilities available in Ash cottage itself but good facilities in the main hotel. Building alterations being done.
Review 14:Excellent bedroom. Good facilities in the main hotel. Food good.
Review 15:Parking bit difficult at both hotels.
Review 16:Ash cottage is very cosy, quiet and bed very comfy. The staff at were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It has just been taken over by the best western red lion across the road so enjoyed all their facilities.
Review 17:The only downside was parking. I was twice blocked in by other guests - assuming they were guests and not just cheeky tourists.
Review 18:The room was newly fitted out with a very comfortable 4 poster bed.
Review 19:When we arrived it wasn't clear where to check in and when we asked about eating were told the kitchen had closed!nor what you want hear when you've had a day at work and then been held up on the motorway.
Review 20:The room was fantastic
Review 21:were not informed prior to travelling that the hotel was under refurbishment and the advertised facilities were not available
Review 22:great location in the heart of Grasmere
Review 23:Ash Cottege is under renavasion and was noise .
Review 24:Comfy room and loung ,clean, friendly staff. When I complained about noise at ash Cottege they moved me to sister hotel red lion without fuss
Review 25:The narrow L shaped twin room just felt like a spare room with two beds shoved in to it rather than a purpose built bedroom
Review 26:Very clean, very helpful staff and very good breakfast
Review 27:Wifi didn't work at all. Breakfast was very average like in a chain hotel. Parking area was full and had to drive around to find a paid parking space - staff at the reception were not particularly helpful nor explained why some parking space was reserved for some guests.
Review 28:Location is great.
Review 29:Facilities did not match detail shown in email confirmation. No bathroom just small shower room, no iron/board, no mirror in bedroom, no bedside lamp, no wardrobe, very small room not double, no room for chair, reception and pool over road at Red Lion, could not enter room until 3.45pm, Did not justify cost of £120pn, Have stayed at Travel lodge recently and their room was much larger and better furnished.
Review 30:Weather, area, scenary, location of hotel, food at Ash Cottage, hotel staff, breakfast at Red Lion.
Review 31:Accommodation was separate from hotel facilities, which were in a sister hotel. The service, food and cleanliness in the Red Lion hotel was awful and spoilt our entire stay.
Review 32:The room/accommodation was excellent.
Review 33:The walls were paper thin, you could here everything from the bar downstairs and the rooms next door. You couldn't go to sleep until the bar emptied and if the people in the room next door were up at six in the morning ( like ours were ), you were too
Review 34:The location was perfect in this quint village
Review 35:Location in the centre of the village, Excellent and spacious accommodation. Able to enjoy all the leisure and facilities of The Red Lion Hotel, which is adjacent to Ash Cottage.
Review 36:The parking may be a problem during the high season. That is my only criticism.
Review 37:Our room had been recently re-furbished to a high standard. It was cleaned daily & the towels were changed twice during our 3 night stay. I thoroughly recommend this accommodation.
Review 38:Toilet flush needs 'easing'. No notice to guide one across the road to Red Lion to book in while the ground floor faciilties were being upgraded... it looked closed!
Review 39:Quiet, courteous. Excellent food. Good towels. Comfortable bed. Good shower.
Review 40:First night unable to get meal(7.00pm) Saw two other couples complain about not being able to eat in Hotel due to kitchen stopping orders at 7.00pm Needs more staff badly Would not return till these problems are sorted
Review 41:Helpful staff especially Julie on check in desk. Nice clean room Central location
Review 42:Bedroom was tiny, beds were uncomfortable, no reception to greet you when you arrived, we ended up wandering around restaurant trying to find someone to check us in, only to be told to check in at another hotel across the road and come back. Room was far too hot to sleep in (it was cold outside, so overall temp was not the issue), walls very thin (could hear room next door "making love" all night. Overall very poor for the price paid. Would never stay there again. When mentioned to staff our stay was unsatisfactory they couldn't have cared less and didn't even ask why this was the case.
