Reviews for The Limes Country Lodge Hotel
Review 1:The rooms were a little on the small side, an as I was traveling with work there was no real space to work from the room, also the TV's signal was very poor so I struggled to get a clear radio station & the walls were a little thin. That said, I would still be happy to stay again as the service made up for its short comings
Review 2:From the moment I arrived the staff could not do enough to make me feel welcome. The service was fantastic and the food was lovely & great value for money
Review 3:Had room with twin beds. Had to move one bed slightly to gain access to the bathroom. That was the only fault we could find.
Review 4:Made to feel welcome by all the staff and nothing was too much trouble. Everywhere was clean. Lovely quiet location which made sleeping so easy.
Review 5:Food is amazing. Joe who works there is always super helpful, friendly and professional and remembers our names when we return. The location is beautiful and the rooms plush and warm. We love staying with The Limes.
Review 6:I arrived hoping for a quiet night and was told I couldnt have any dinner as there was a function and there would be a party until midnight (which last to 1am). The party goers then made their ways to the rooms so it was about 2am when things quietened down. I was told I should have received an email but i certainly did not. I also had to go out for dinner which was really inconvenient.
Review 7:The fact that the dinning room and bar had been booked for a function and were not available for other guest to use to .We asked for our money back and found another hotel which was more superior at a lower cost. Our initial contact with the staff was disappointing she thought Torquay was in a foreign country.
Review 8:I got a good price so hard to complain too much but... The room was freezing when I arrived. I found that the storage heater was off and turned it on but then it got too hot during the night. The hotel could do with turning heaters on in cold weather at a low setting before guest's arrival. I could hear the people upstairs moving around clearly.
Review 9:Good value. Food was tasty in the restaurant. Staff were polite and attentive.
Review 10:Poor shower not sure I got the room I was meant as no office space to work for an executive room, pull down bed to far away from wall
Review 11:Location was good
Review 12:Basically I didn't pay to stay there it was fraud , I contacted hotel they advised me they would contact you but I've heard nothing and been debited for the stay even though I didn't go . Bad customer service and a scam
Review 13:Only 2 staff plus the chef, Rooms via outside access & door not kept locked, no 24 hour reception so as a female felt vulnerable, shower had low pressure & hot water on wash basin via a hot water heater, which wasn't hot. Radiator in bathroom didn't work so quite cold & room wasnt made up after first night. To be fair i didn't complain as I left early & came back late & wouldn't personally stay again but I'm sure they would have done their best had I asked even with the knowledge their wasn't enough staff.
Review 14:Friendly & helpful staff, the bed in room 6 was comfy and my evening meal first night was lovely, fish cooked perfectly, it's such a shame they don't have enough staff which the existing, hard working staff, deserve.
Review 15:Check in staff either new or inexperienced. Didn't advise where room was located. What time or place breakfast was. That you had a restaurant that serves food (I did a round trip of 20 miles to eat) only to find out this at breakfast. Power cut around 9 so sat in dark with no TV.
Review 16:Nice comfortable room. Quaint surroundings. Easy access.
Review 17:I had a meal on site Monday night which gave me a very bad belly and diarrhoea the next day. I was also told breakfast was complimentary on arrival and told it wasn't the following day, £60 per night it probably should be. The toilet leaked in my en suite and the shower was more of a dribble. Couple having a blazing row at 2 am really didn't help but that's people for you.
Review 18:Good location and parking, wifi, friendly staff
Review 19:No key available on arrival; furniture cheap and aged; mould in shower; no minibar; failed to deliver ordered starter, main course absolutely swimming in butter, almost inedible; not asked to check the bill before payment.
Review 20:Breakfast service, wifi
Review 21:It rained - but even then the gardens are lovely
Review 22:Close to motorways but not too close Breakfast excellent Staff superb Room comfortable and clean Bed sturdy Bathroom very nice - walk in shower
Review 23:I booked 3 roomsin Total 2 @ £81 each & 1 @ £110 Rooms 5 & 6were better than my room 11. We thought we had breakfast included withthe price. The manager on duty did decide to give us breakfast, Notworth £8 per head. No menu was handed to us so we got what we weregiven. So disappointed with the cost of my room, they told me on thephone mine was the best room.
Review 24:Nothing bad whatsoever.
Review 25:Our second stay at The Limes, we were upgraded to one of the newer rooms which was spotless and very comfortable. The star was the bathroom/shower room which was immaculate...the only possible improvement would be a shelf on which to place our toiletries etc.
Review 26:Breakfast very poor , mostly deep fried and swimming in tomato juice !! Eggs not cooked properly ! Very disappointing as evening meal very enjoyable !
Review 27:Outside space and the bed . Children's meal excellent ! Staff very good
Review 28:Hard to find fault. The only thing that needed sorting was the remote for tv, some buttons don't work and the shower holder is faulty.
Review 29:The room was modern and clean.
Review 30:On closer inspection the room was very tired. Surrounds of shower dirty. Skirting boards generally poor. Toilet was a noisy macerator type. Turning the taps on also produced a noisy response. No remote control for the TV (presumably taken by previous user). Terrible Veggie options.
Review 31:Very close to my destination (Solihull), Room was initially fine, bed comfortable.
Review 32:The room was big however the bathroom was dated, the walls had dirt all over and we paid for a double room and there was two single beds pushed together! The room had clearly not been dusted as there was spiders and cobwebs everywhere! I would not recommend when we paid £40!
Review 33:The staff were lovely and the location was nice!
Review 34:restaurant wasn't open for an evening meal, nowhere close by to eat. Hardly any staff on. Breakfast was not good, probably because it was cooked by the same guy who was on reception......again lack of staff!
Review 35:Bed was comfy
Review 36:A terrible nights sleep in room 17 every 10 mins some type of generator or machine went on then off again ALL NIGHT long then at 7am piano music was played throughout the grounds! Also a lack of privacy to all rooms as the front door has a panel which is part CLEAR GLASS!!!!! And anybody could see into the room where the bed is!! We would never stay here again
Review 37:When we first arrived we were very pleased the hotel looked lovely and the room looked perfect. The Staff in restaurant were great, food was delicious and service was excellent
Review 38:Room hadn't been hovered
Review 39:The location & setting of the hotel picture perfect. They do Weddings in the garden at the back which is lovely for that perfect day, sat out most of the afternoon sun shining and read a book just what I needed - peace. Room lovely decorated, loved it had an iron and hair dryer.
Review 40:We did not have breakfast but we did have a drink at the bar and staff was really friendly and helpful the hotel is lovely and the grounds are beautiful a lovely place to stay fantastic for a wedding or a party great place to stay. Would recommend it its lovely.
Review 41:Twin beds, mattresses too soft, only one bedside lamp, breakfast not included.
Review 42:The room was fine, the bathroom clean and nice and the location was good.
Review 43:Would be nice if there was a gym or pool.
Review 44:Excellent high quality room. Very friendly staff. Joe is superb at his job, multitasking between waiter, barman and looking after reception.
Review 45:Minor point - but there was a very strong smell of bleach in the stairwell as we went up to the room. TV in bar area on mute??
Review 46:Food excellent, staff friendly and welcoming. Good location, relaxing environment- would definitely use again
Review 47:Room was small and very noisy, one window had no curtain, we had to leave the bathroom door open to stop wedding guests from looking into our room up to 1.0am! Wedding at the venue meant the restaurant and bar were not available when we arrived at 8.15, the restaurants we were directed to were closed (Saturday night?) unbelievable! TV signal was poor, we had taken dvd's but there was no player, coupled with the lack of facilities downstairs and the fact that guests didn't get to bed, and we didn't get to sleep, until after 1.0am made for a poor experience. Sad, the grounds looked lovely but we didn't get a chance to enjoy any of it.
Review 48:Super venue for a wedding, good location, friendly staff.
Review 49:The hotel is in the middle of nowhere but that is kind of the point. The floorboards are very creaky, if you're downstairs, you can hear all movement upstairs. wifi couldn't stream music so catch-up tv was out of the question.
Review 50:There is an amazing place for breakfast / lunch nearby...Becketts farm. absolutely delicious & fairly cheap. shower was nice & overall it was a pleasant stay.
Review 51:Brilliant! We were looking for somewhere to stay on the eve of a wedding and this was the perfect location. We got a great deal and were then kindly upgraded by the hotel before we arrived. The rooms were very modern, spacious and looked brand new. Very impressed!
Review 52:externally the building looks a little tired, but that is easily forgiven
Review 53:lovely gardens, very good location, inside decoration is lovely both in the lounge & restaurant area, and in the bedrooms.
Review 54:Beautiful place tucked away in a beautiful environment, clean and comfortable. The room is spacious and has everything I needed. Highly recommended.
Review 55:Nice bar but not open we could have one drink if we took it to our room. It was only 22.15 so not really too late. Breakfast cooked individually but not asked how we would like our eggs done all breakfast food fried so was a bit greasy.
Review 56:Nice staff well I say staff it was one person receptionist, porter, bar man, security person, cook and waiter. So Jack of All Trades very helpful and polite. Conveniently located by motorway
Review 57:Greeted by a young girl on reception (not the receptionist) who said 'what is it you want?!'. Amazing greeting! A Wedding was on till early hours. Loads of shouting / rowing and screaming couple in adjacent room (5). Crying baby, no soundproofing. Paper thin partition walls. Loads of stains on all surfaces in room (carpets, wicker seating, bed throw). Thin curtains, not blackout. No hot water tap in the ensuite - wall mounted boiler! Went for breakfast at 8am, but told we were too early. Bizarre place.
Review 58:Price and location. Size of room. bedding and towels seemed clean.
Review 59:The shower was extremely small and the bathroom smelt fusty. Tv remote broken and only 2 stations available on tv. The mattresses were in desperate need of replacing. No staff seemed to be in evidence.
Review 60:Adequate parking and easy to find.
Review 61:Nothing really, only they forgot to put towels in the room, we only realised when we got back late.
Review 62:Clean, quiet, comfortable simple no fuss accommodation.
Review 63:It's impossible to fault The Limes, from the wonderful staff to the scenic gardens, and comfortable accommodation. Highly recommended, i'm looking forward to my next visit there.
Review 64:Rooms that had not been cleaned, loud party noises until 2.30am, rooms that would not lock and when they did we got locked in. told breakfast was between 7 and 9am and then when we got there the debris from the previous night was still all over the place and no breakfast.
Review 65:We loved our stay - we asked for a cot bed for our son, and unfortunately there wasn't one, but it wasn't a big deal at all.
Review 66:We found the staff to be accommodating and helpful - our very late arrival wasn't an issue for them. The room was clean and well prepared, with windows on both sides offering lovely views.
Review 67:Bulb in bedside light didn't work but for 1 night it wasn't a problem. No lid on toilet seat (deliberate?). No plug in sink.
Review 68:Evening meal was tasty and good sized portions. All reasonably priced. Lady who served us doubled up on reception and waitressing was very friendly. Room was clean.
Review 69:cost of bar meals and standard of food very poor, had chicken curry with very little chicken lots of skin and previously cooked thigh meat - awful..Radiator had blood on in bathroom...
Review 70:location
Review 71:Bathroom extremely tiny & dated.
Review 72:Beautiful location. Bought stay at reduced rate so very good value. Lovely bed linen & towels and friendly staff.
Review 73:No chair in the room, we solved this by using the garden chair outside our room.
Review 74:Ground floor room. Recently refurbished room, nicely decorated with a lovely modern ensuite and great water pressure in the shower. The hotel is set in nice grounds.
Review 75:They do not sell rooms at £40 per night despite what booking.com say & your booking receipt says it cost me £5 more but they did give a room upgrade as a gesture of goodwill.
Review 76:Staff were lovely & helpful.
Review 77:Poor breakfast. No residents bar. No access to rooms from hotel reception.
Review 78:Ideal location for my business trip. Superb evening meal. Chef stayed late to facilitate our late arrival.
Review 79:Driveway is a bit of a nuisance as it's made up of lots of stones. Bed was a great size but made up of 2 and you could feel the join.
Review 80:Spacious and clean room. Short drive to the busier parts of the city.
Review 81:First of all, we were messed about when it came to our money. The hotel unintentionally blocked the entire cost of our 3 night stay. We paid for the cost of our stay at check-in, but the blocked money remained blocked for a month, this was very upsetting for us as we were counting on it. Secondly, we tried to sort this problem out several times with the hotel and they said that they could not help us. After our third call they accepted that it was probably a problem caused by their staff, but they could not do anything about it. The other problems we experienced were bad internet connection, the room being cramped. Also the windows were locked and could only be opened by staff members. In order to open them we called the staff but as soon as we closed them they got locked again.
Review 82:The outside of the hotel it is quite nice, but that is the only advantage of the hotel
Review 83:A bit expensive for the value Internet connectivity was very unreliable The rocky parking was very annoying to drive through Bathroom was a bit old
Review 84:Very friendly staff and very helpful Location and surrounding landscape is a thing of beauty
Review 85:Delay of an hour before main course evening meal served on first night. Due to understaffing. Sole waitress tried hard and was apologetic
Review 86:Comfortable spacious well furnished room
Review 87:The hotel was like home from home Very welcoming and the rooms were immaculate Would highly reccomend When me and my guests are back in birmigham we will stay there again
Review 88:Door should have had a curtain as light poured in all night. My husband found the bed very uncomfortable. There was a lot of damp and a smell of mould in the room which was concerning.
Review 89:Room was clean and well stocked. Great size and staff were very friendly. I found the (very soft) bed very comfortable.
Review 90:Bathroom and bed. Bathroom was in need of some repairs and there was mold in the shower. One bed the mattress needed replacing
Review 91:Location. It was convenient for our final destination the next day.
Review 92:For dinner I had a burger, the Middle was very undercooked like raw mince, I waited ten minutes to tell someone but no one came. The lady on reception was also running the bar and restaurant, more staff needed. At breakfast the food was much better, however on returning to my room the cleaner was walking out of my room, I told her I wasn't ready to leave and she said she was checking if I had gone. Surely they should check with reception if my key is handed in rather than going in when my stuff is still there?
Review 93:Stay was great lovely venue, rooms clean
Review 94:Does not take "American Express" credit cards. The property is in the process of carrying out extension works and they had a temporary gravel car park - a bit messy but totally understandable.
Review 95:Accommodation was very nice. Breakfast in the mornings was first class.
Review 96:The rooms were nice and spacious. The restaurant food was amazing and great value. Staff were attentive and extremely helpful. We will be booking again.
Review 97:Myself and my partner spent 2 nights in a standard double room, the room was well decorated and had a very cosy feel to it, bed was comfortable and all the things we needed was inside the room eg a hair dryer and iron. Would really recommend this accommodation and will be staying here again in the future .
Review 98:We had to carry a sofa bed across one of our rooms to set it up as it was not set up for a family of three and had been placed in a position where it couldn't unfold. We were never expected at breakfast as staff did not communicate (Continental breakfast was limited - they ran out of yoghurt, the Gardner stole all the cereal bars, we set up our own table, we had to request fruit juice and milk). Only one of the staff greeted us and it took 20 minutes to find staff in order to book out.
Review 99:The initial staff did their best to rectify a bad situation. We had booked 2 family rooms for 3 but the rooms were not set up for a family of three and in one, the short sofa bed was broken so the chef very kindly allocated us a free double room -after initially offering us a 'quality' inflatable mattress.
Review 100:The staff seem over busy and although very polite, they seemed over stretched dealing with reception whilst working in the bar and restaurant.
Review 101:The food was very good quality & plentiful. We had the cooked breakfast option but the continental option looked rather sparce. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was really good (lasagne). The rooms were good not excellent but good value for what we paid. I'd definitely stay again and it looks like they are investing in the hotel, as there was quite a bit of work being done outside.
Review 102:Breakfast was bit disappointing, as I am veggie and only one day out 4 there was fruit and yoghurt's staff said there delivery man wasn't due and they had ran out. So only got one piece of toast, and bowl of muesli, which wasn't value for money
Review 103:Gardens, size of second room Quality of food from restaurant
Review 104:The room was very tired & needs some tlc & investment to bring up to standard promised my the hotel name & size. The plumbing was very noisy. The shower had no power & we would have asked to change rooms if staying longer. There were faux Christmas flowers in the bathroom!! A bit of painting would have spruced the bathroom up too, beside the loo & shower. And why a travel-size hairdryer??! I didnt take mine because one was advertised but it was tiny. How much would it cost to put a full-suze dryer in the room? The caroet wasnt very clean. The wardrobe was a meter cupboard & I had trouble reaching the hanging rail.
Review 105:The restaurant & location
Review 106:There was no bad experience except other peoples' negative reviews. Having stayed here 3 times I would recommend as a business stop over
Review 107:The staff are ever so helpful. Even leaving bottled beers at room temp as I do not like chilled bitter. Talk to the staff they are always willing to help
Review 108:Empty coffee sachets left in my room. Loud saniflow toilet. Very soft mattress. Heater just about warmed the room but only just. Woken up by the room above a mobile phones alarm that vibrated! Staff all seemed to be trainees. Still waiting for my vat receipt?!
Review 109:Large food portion sizes.
Review 110:Having to stand outside in rain waiting for door to be unlocked for breakfast which wasn't served before 7.30 so on last day of my stay I was late for my first meeting. My bathroom is in dire need of refurbisment
Review 111:Location large evening meals although some portions were OTT
Review 112:Stinky, grubby, king size bed was two singles together. Shower was disgusting with orange mould over all the tiles. Cheap toiletries, a toaster which was odd by hairdryer. Staff were unhelpful and had there been another choice else where, I would not have stayed.
Review 113:Nothing.
Review 114:The room itself was ok but the bathroom was not very inviting. The shower looks as if it needs an overhaul. The basin has an old- fashioned water heater system that takes half an hour to fill up and there is a unit of some description behind the toilet that makes a funny grinding sound along with rattling pipework. Storage space for clothes is at a premium and if you are not tall you will have trouble hanging your clothes up in a cupboard that acts as a wardrobe which contains an ironing board and electrical systems......not good. The Staff.... there appears to be a lack of communication at all levels!! Within the hotel guide there is no set breakfast time, menu or prices and the staff also do not know. We asked along with other guests what time breakfast was (Sunday) and were told 8 to 9am, it was in fact 9 to 10 am or when the chef could get into the establishment as the manager for whatever reason hadn't arrived to let him in. He was left wondering around for over an hour and we could have had a lay-in. Mon to Friday Breakfast was 7.30 to 8.30am we were told. It seems a very short, limited period for breakfast.
Review 115:The staff were friendly and the room was clean
Review 116:There was no price or choices for breakfast. I called reception the evening before and was told 'I think it was £6'. It cost a lot more that this and tasted horrible.
Review 117:The size of room and facilities in it was excellent value for money
Review 118:People in the room above walking around and talking loudly from 1.00am until 3.30am and again from 6.30am. Very thoughtless. Stains in the bathroom I really didn't want to investigate. Obviously had a break-in at some point - door not well repaired. Not a great choice of food in the restaurant. Car park is a disgrace. General feeling - needs a lot of money spending on it to bring it up to a decent standard. Breakfast coffee just brown hot water, toast too crisp to eat.
Review 119:Comfortable bed. Convenient from the motorway. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 120:Overall good but just a little TLC missing IE cupboard door hanging off, shower a bit dated and plumbing a bit primitive
Review 121:Reastaurant, food was lovely, reception staff friendly and helpfull
Review 122:Although the room was beautiful it was let down by bathroom. It was outdated/unheated and in desperate need of a power shower.
Review 123:The room was beautiful and spacious. Great location for the m42. The food was really good.
Review 124:Bright Blue lights in building light up your room at night. Our room was by an entry door which very loudly bangs when people go in and out, also thrte was people standing outside out room smoking every hour through the night until 5am. So we didn't get much sleep.
Review 125:Location
Review 126:Unfortunately, as it was Christmas they were too busy preparing for lunches and they did not give a full english breakfast. However they supplied milk but some rooms have no fridges so the milk went off.
Review 127:Stayed a few nights over Christmas. We'd requested a cot for a young child: they provided a miniature sleeping-bag. The room and bed were very small - bed not adequate for two normal-sized adults. Returning from visiting relatives one day we found the cleaners had left our room unlocked (the outer door of the accommodation block does not lock). Over all, despite attractive, peaceful location, very unimpressed.
Review 128:Quite, rural location.
Review 129:Breakfast was really early and when got there had to wait a long time to be served and then once served a long time for our breakfast to come.
Review 130:Felt like home room reasonable size
Review 131:The wife and i stayed at The Limes on a Saturday night, We could`nt really find fault at this Family run Hotel, We had a great nights sleep and a really good Breakfast.
Review 132:Busy night for Christmas party meant parking was difficult. Confusion over breakfast time and no bedside tables.
Review 133:The staff were very friendly, room clean and functional. Good location
Review 134:Not informed when booking that there was a company Christmas party happening the same evening that went on till the early hours! Then had to put up with drunken shouting in hallway till after 5am!! Not impressed at all.
Review 135:Spacious room with big bed
