Reviews for The Royal Harbour Hotel
Review 1:Due to bad windy weather, our room was very cold as the windows are old it enabled the wind to blow through all night even blowing the curtains! Had to put my toddler in bed with us as she was freezing. Due to this we decided to stay in another hotel the next night.
Review 2:The staff were friendly and helpful, it was perfect seafront location with beautiful view of the harbour and morning sunshine at breakfast. Breakfast had good choice and was fresh. Had a very comfy bed and everything you could need in the room.
Review 3:The only thing missing was real coffee at breakfast as only soluble coffee was on offer.
Review 4:Overlooking the harbour, nice neutral marine decor, real fire in the drawing room. Nice staff, fresh fruits at breakfast.
Review 5:shower water either boiling or freezing - didn't want to get re dressed and go down two flights to get assistance. booked room two months ago for s sea view did not get one - in a rush to enjoy out weekend so didn't demand a change. the view was not good !
Review 6:cosy near harbour range of herbal teas fantastic excellent breakfast choices nautical shabby chic style
Review 7:My 'double' bedroom' had little storage space and a bed that would entail one occupant climbing over the other to get out. Fortunately for me I upgraded from a single room because I wanted a harbour view, but this room (7) is not acceptable for 2 people.
Review 8:The public areas were very acceptable
Review 9:This is the sort of hotel, certainly, we want to stay at. We were made extremely welcome by David and all the staff. Food, breakfast and dinner was superb. This hotel is homely, comfortable, and quirky we will return. we had the top floor room which was great but be aware of the stairs!!
Review 10:Parking is very limited near to the hotel. Our room (Room 16) was quite small with one person having to climb over the other to get out of bed, but the view of the Royal Harbour was superb and the bed was very comfortable.
Review 11:Extremely friendly hotel with very comfortable lounge and "snug". The record player and collection of old LPs was a nice touch. Breakfast choice was excellent and the cooked breakfast was excellent, although you could have a wait for a table at busy times.
Review 12:Friendly welcome, great room with loads of lovely tea and coffee, not to mention the brilliant view. Great breakfast too, and lots of nice homely touches around the building - books everywhere!
Review 13:Overpriced, cramped bedroom and bathroom, shower tiny. One light not working, one staff member unfriendly, vegetarian breakfast basic. Difficult to find hotel staff. Could hear snoring in next room.
Review 14:Clean, harbour view
Review 15:Very comfortable stay, loved the bookshelves and artwork, the real fire and the homely touches in the bedroom. View of Ramsgate harbour and close to town.
Review 16:Room was v small for 4 people, wardrobe rather than a desk would have been better and no mirror in room so tricky to dress/do hair.
Review 17:Breakfast fab and lounge area beautiful. Little touches like cheese and biscuits etc nice too.
Review 18:amazing decoration , so many great pictures fantastic breakfast happy friendly staff open fires, unfortunately didn't have time to test the restaurant, but it looked great
Review 19:Would have been nice to have been given a menu at breakfast as wasn't too sure what was on offer.
Review 20:Lovely Boutique hotel overlooking the marina. Very friendly staff. Felt like you were visiting friends and staying in their home.
Review 21:The walls were so thin we could here next doors TV, Conversations as if they were in the room with us. In the day it was a nuisance but at night horrendous. Also the bathroom had a sign saying it was the smallest bathroom ever - and it wasnt lying. The lighting in the bedroom was very dim and the room itself was very small. We upgraded to a four poster and that took up most the room. Only mirror was in the small bathroom so wasnt fun getting ready.
Review 22:It was near to a party we were going to.
Review 23:The main hotel and breakfast room was a little small and untidy. Breakfast was great, but we had to wait a little while for a table.
Review 24:Room was excellent. My Wife loved the TV in the bath!
Review 25:the kettle which had to be boiled on the floor as the lead wouldnt reach for the kettle to boil on the table. shower head was blocked with limescale wasnt spraying out water good.
Review 26:As we were at the sea we were looking forward to some fish for dinner. the menu-said local cod and prawn bake. I found four small prawns and so little cod ( approx 2 ounces) but masses of potato. very disappointing.
Review 27:Great position over looking the harbour quaint building lovely dining room excellent breakfast.
Review 28:The Stairs to the room were challenging and very steep. Not good for older people. Parking was a little difficult because of the location.
Review 29:The views from the hotel, the fire and the 'trust' bar were great.
Review 30:That we were only staying one night.
Review 31:The hotel was beautiful, the staff were all so friendly and helpful, my son loved his own room being 14 and our room was very comfortable too, we didn't get the pleasure of stsying for dinner but did have breakfast which again was delightful just perfect, we travel all round various places and this is our top hotel.. We will be back.
Review 32:This hotel was absolutely stunning , warm and welcoming. The staff were lovely and the breakfast selections were fab. Thanks for a lovely stay we will definately be back to visit.
Review 33:Good location, very friendly and helpful staff. 3rd time of usings and will definitely use again. Lovely selection for breakfast and whilst never took advantage of Dinner it certainly looks good value for money
Review 34:n/a
Review 35:The location was ideal, overlooking the harbour, the staff were very accommodating, the hotel was very clean and cosy and the food on offer was exceptional.
Review 36:So often single rooms have little to recommend them, but Ramsgate's Royal Harbour's Hotel's small, but well appointed and practical, pretty cabin bedroom, with its high bed allowing a fine view of the sea and harbour, is a rare delight.
Review 37:Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Location was good. Beautiful view from room. Breakfast was delicious. Will definitely be coming back :0)
Review 38:Being in a different building from the hotel
Review 39:The staff very friendly & polite Rooms are very clean Very close to the town Good breakfast selection catering for everyone Good views from the room
Review 40:Should have set times for breakfast as there wasn't enough room for all the guests at the same time and the staff also couldn't cope. Which U.S. Such a shame because the views from the room and food were so good.
Review 41:Hotel is quaint and good food
Review 42:Having a passion for books and being an avid reader of everything I found the abundance of fully stocked bookshelves throughout the hotel including in the room very pleasing
Review 43:This hotel had a great location, stunning sea views, a balcony a a breakfast which was excellent!!! We were made to feel welcome and the staff were so helpful.
Review 44:Family room next to the doubles with children bouncing on the floors and banging doors.Dogs and the fact that they can be kept in any of the bedrooms.Shabby chic furniture, stair carpet and furnishings that were in need of a thorough cleaning.Divan bed stained, needs replacing.
Review 45:The location with the view of the Harbour from the top cabin window. The TV reception and Wifi was good and the bathroom was clean with constant hot water.Good colour schemes and art work.Breakfast tasty but had to make own coffee and tea.Complimentary cheese and biscuits very good.
Review 46:Small room as expected but very comfortable and had everything needed. Had a lovely view over the harbour. Staff very friendly despite being very busy especially at breakfast. Gorgeous smell of real fires on lower floors!
Review 47:A comfortable and well appointed hotel that has clearly had care and attention lavished on its decorative content, fixtures and fittings. Situated on the seafront with views out across the harbour, the staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is very good and not too expensive.
Review 48:Room was on the small side, but beautifully put together making the most of the small room.
Review 49:Bed very comfortable and a great view of the harbour. Breakfast delicious A very quirky romantic hotel.
Review 50:Would have preferred sea view but as only staying one night, wasn't a problem. Also would have slightly preferred to be in main hotel building rather than a few doors down.
Review 51:Everything. Welcome. Breakfast. Areas to relax in.
Review 52:Was a long stairclimber to our room ,will choose a lower floor next time!
Review 53:A good location with a fine view of the marina and the sea.very friendly staff and excellent breakfasts.A comfortable cosy room with an excellent shower. We would be very happy to return to this hotel.Liked the quirky paintings!
Review 54:Nothing to dislike at all
Review 55:Everything. The whole experience was delightful from beginning to end. The room was lovely, check-in and check-out was great, very friendly and personal, loved the Nespresso machine in the bedroom. Breakfast was perfect, so much choice and oodles of fresh fruit. We'll definitely stay again. Fantastic value for money (worth much more than the £55 a night we paid).
Review 56:Room a little small
Review 57:The hotel was very friendly and the bed was very comfi although the room was a little small the view out of the window was very nice. Breakfast was nice could have had an extra sausage. I also like the old vinyl record and record player in the lounge very well thought out .
Review 58:Loved the hotel, room was amazing, staff were very friendly apart from one cleaner who was extremely rude on the morning of our departure . Overall a wonderful weekend, we will definitely be back!
Review 59:Super staff, relaxed feel...The wonderful study/library with a roaring wood fire... vinyl records & player, lots of good books, interesting paintings chuck in the best bacon & eggs for breakfast....
Review 60:This hotel is fabulous super homely feel to the place, with honesty bar,a record player with numerous LP's to choose from a superb restaurant & outstanding breakfast offering. I could not recommend this hotel highly enough
Review 61:the rooms are small but very well designed to maximise...loved the cabin room...
Review 62:Excellent friendly welcome and a real feel of a home from home with coffee, tea, mini bar and cheese and biscuits by the fire in the evening...very relaxed creative environment....and fabulous generous breakfast...
Review 63:Road noise was loud from top bedroom. Second glazing would make a massive difference.
Review 64:Staff and food were excellent. The decor created a relaxing environment in a lovely location.
Review 65:Very bad smell in the main building (not only the smell from the fireplace). The first room we got was very bad, old and had a very bad smell and was just a meter from the reception. Far from being usable as an room for guests. The WiFi did not work at all in the rooms but it worked in the reception and close to that area. Very inconvenient. Pictures of the hotel and the rooms do not show the correct picture.
Review 66:Location is fine. Some rooms are clean and newly renovated. We ended in a clean room, not with the arrangement we did choose but it was clean so we did not complaint about it. The staff was nice and polite.
Review 67:The rooms were a little pokey so not not much space for bags and parking can be a problem unless you get lucky like we did. Overall though, a fabulous place to stay.
Review 68:From the moment you walk in the door you know that these people have things worked out. Beautifully appointed, stunning sitting rooms for relaxing with an honesty system working for drinks. Beautiful views and a close walk to town. The rooms a bit pokey but everything else outweighs this and breakfast is wonderful. Perfect for a night or two in Ramsgate.
Review 69:Not enough room in the breakfast area. There was a queue of people waiting to get in. the waitress seemed stressed and forgot the eggs and then insisted we hadn't ordered them. I don't blame her I think she had too much to do. It seems to be victim of its own success.
Review 70:Comfortable room, the restaurant empire rooms is excellent. Good breakfast. Recommend the honeycomb. The communal areas were quirky, full of character and communal.
Review 71:At times quite noisy from upstairs floor and adjacent walls, because it is an old terrace house. But nothing too bad
Review 72:Excellent value for money. Warm, friendly staff. Lovely harbour and sea views from the balcony
Review 73:friendly helpful staff wonderful meal - good value - restaurant needs better signing and talking up. it is a jewel - don't hide it. if busier will need more staff. lovely location with fantastic views and facilities - our favourite place to stay!
Review 74:Only that Booking.com booked us for both nights half-board when the Dining Room is not actually open for dinner on Sundays. Quite a puff up to the top floor but worth it when we got there.
Review 75:Elegant comfort and everything one could wish for provided with a smile. Amazing breakfast and delicious candle-lit dining.
Review 76:Would have liked the room and bathroom to be bigger. The carpets were tired looking and stains on some of the ceilings let it down. Some of the furniture was also a bit shabby.
Review 77:The view from the room was lovely. The room, bed and bathroom clean. Staff helpful.
Review 78:long climb up to our room - 3 floors and my sister had had a knee operation Taps in room were very loose
Review 79:Really personable staff who go the extra mile. Decor. Vinyl records playing in the lounge. Honesty bar. Cheese and biscuits to end the evening - free
Review 80:No full length mirror in room. Unfortunately the reception man took our breakfast order incorrectly on Wednesday and the cook rather intimated it was our fault. It was reluctantly rectified.
Review 81:Decor, comfort, breakfast was best we have ever had. Richard on reception very helpful and informative. New Portuguese lad was so polite, friendly and helpful and a credit to your hotel. Outstanding staff.
Review 82:Lovely location with fabulous sea view of the royal harbour. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Great breakfast with a wide choice. Excellent coffee - cafetière of ground coffee. Restaurant - delicious food.
Review 83:TV remote did not work
Review 84:Interesting shabby chic decor, with great picture collection; friendly staff; nice touches e.g.late night cheese board and honesty bar; great breakfast , with lots of choice and lovely seasonal fruit.
Review 85:Nothing!
Review 86:What a beautiful little hotel, loved it's quirkiness, lovely and friendly staff, breakfast was absolutely gorgeous and location was great. thanks.
Review 87:Parking is challenging
Review 88:Cosy, great art on walls, lots of books, very comfortable public rooms. The breakfast was exceptional. Front facing rooms have great views of the harbour
Review 89:They did say the room was small, but we did not expect it to that small. It was uncomfortably small this should of reflected on the price also. £130 was far too much £80 would have made the room more acceptable.
Review 90:There was such a good spread at breakfast and the cooked breakfast was the best ever. All the staff were very polite and friendly.
Review 91:Breakfasts quite laid back..no menu and staff all busy in kitchen..no major issue though
Review 92:Fab room, with view..excellent location and some street parking also..hotel not to big or too small..small communual areas comfortable with seaviews and handy if dont have room with view
Review 93:We paid extra for the sea view which was worth it but our room was far too small. Definitely a single room and a small double bed. Difficult moving about especially at night with the old iron bed posts sticking up, made the room very airless.
Review 94:We loved the interior and arty ambiance, the paintings, the quirky seaside feel. The sea view over the harbour. staff lovely and the fab breakfast, especially the fresh honey.
Review 95:Superb "boutique" hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, the most superb buffet breakfast that many West End hotels could learn from. Great situation close to Ramsgate.First hotel we have come across with an Honesty bar!
Review 96:Our cabin room was far too small, kept bumping into bedpost, could not turn in bed. A mirror will be helpful for hair drying instead of some bikini framed on the wall !
Review 97:Location and view from bedroom good. Breakfast was very good, however during busy periods, the dining room was not adequate
Review 98:Sadly we noticed on the ground floor a strange odour which permeated the lobby and the hall - no idea the cause but it was rather unpleasant
Review 99:The hotel is quirky and unusual with original paintings of degrees of skill - the room was small but adequate and clean - the price we paid was excellent value
Review 100:Breakfast area too small for the amount of guests using it. Shower was slightly temperamental.
Review 101:Very decent view. Good breakfast selection. Friendly staff.
Review 102:Lovely quirky hotel with friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Would stay again and room was comfortable. Quite steep stairs as we were right at the top. Some nice restaurants nearby.
Review 103:Be warned that there are lots of stairs BUT the view is absolutely fantastic so as long as you are fit enough to carry your bags [the staff will do this for you!] then it is well worth booking a top room. Go for breakfast early as gets busy around 9am and you may have to wait...BUT coffee is laid on and plenty of newspapers etc so not an issue!
Review 104:Great friendly staff and welcoming casual atmosphere...very homely and great minibar, lounge area and cheese and biscuits at 10pm was a great idea! Brilliant breakfast selection...could not have done more to make our stay a great one...excellent linen, towels and beds!!
Review 105:Wifi did'nt work for us in our bedroom, but I must add... it was'nt a big problem for us
Review 106:Cleanliness of the bedroom, and the staff were friendly
Review 107:Not a bad word to say - no doubt about it, 'we'll be back'.
Review 108:Friendly, articulate and professional staff, nothing was too much effort and clearly customer care was the priority. The room was excellent, clean and comfortable with courtesy coffee and tea facilities and good biscuits.
Review 109:I wasn't able to use the sink as it keeps on getting blocked there was no lever to pop the waste, was no offered any gestures for the stay partial refund so not happy
Review 110:The water drained very slowly in the shower and sink, and the shower could do with a bit of re-tiling.
Review 111:The friendliness and all-around good-natured manner of every staff member I encountered. The breakfast was great, nice to have a honeycomb there for toast. The way in which the furnishings and decoration matched the age and character of the building very tastefully. And of course, being right across from the water, seeing Dover & France from my window.
Review 112:Reception area needs a little updating.
Review 113:This is a very quirky and nautical hotel and well placed for the harbour and town. Our room was small but very comfortable, the shower was quite amazing, better than in the most expensive hotels and beautifully clean. We had everything and more to hand and our views of the harbour were fantastic. Having stayed in many hotels I have to complement on they're most delicious breakfast and the staff too.
Review 114:Not much storage space in the family room and we wish the staff had intervened sooner with some gusts talking loudly in the garden after midnight without our having to ask them to act
Review 115:Great location and classy old world style and charm
Review 116:Long way up steep stairs with heavy firedoors to our room! The harbour front rooms probably have wonderful views, but we were at the back.
Review 117:Excellent little extra thoughtful touches: great range of magazines, games, books and records - like staying in a comfortable home. Lovely sitting room and breakfast rooms, with trust bar. Fishing nets to use for the beach came in very handy for catching rogue flies in our room.
Review 118:Sometimes had to wait for a table at breakfast.
Review 119:It is s quirky hotel, which we like, and staff are very helpful. It is the second time we have stayed there in a little over a month, that says it all really.
Review 120:AMAZING everything about this hotel was first class quirky but so perfect down to the honesty bar and cheese and biscuits breakfast amazing staff wonderful cannot wait to visit the Royal Harbour Hotel again
Review 121:The chambermaid knocked at 6pm to bring us a card with the weather forecast for the following day. We were disappointed to be offered only cloudy/bright. Sunny would have been better.
Review 122:As one moved through the hotel and it's routines, met the staff and other guests, looked through the windows at the harbour, took in the pictures, books, rugs and furniture listened to the quiet sounds from the Goldring turntable in the evening; there was the slight feeling of being actors awaiting direction. Don't think of staying anywhere else in Ramsgate as long as the Royal Harbour Hotel is here. Life is too short for regrets.
Review 123:Double bed in single room - very small room Worlds' smallest toilet Could hear adjacent room and person being sick No allocated parking Poor breakfast Water stained ceilings Only room for one armchair in room
Review 124:Nothing
Review 125:Very small room and even smaller bathroom, very claustrophobic.
Review 126:Staff were excellent as was the location and cleanliness. However our room was exceptionally small and because of this our stay was not as good as we would have liked.
Review 127:The breakfast room is too small resulting in long waiting time before you can start having your breakfast.
Review 128:Small but very nice hotel, good located overviewing the harbour. Very friendly and helpful staff. Small but very tastefull decorated rooms.
