Reviews for Moness Resort

Review 1:Dirty beds, damp smell in rooms, soft and uncomfy matresses and no hot water. Saying that location was good for a quiet break and staff were friendly and welcoming...

Review 2:The postcode dose not take you to the entrance to the resort. Meal from the Bar area was of poor standard, very oily burger as it was dripping in oil. I have never see a crème brulee like this, was the worst I have ever seen and very expensive. Staff were rude and clearly rushing to get away. Room 20 - Fire exit light is not required and green LED meant NO SLEEP. You can have a light with built in emergency lighting with a hidden LED that would suit the room better. This would also allow no bright LED. Also had a delivery truck pull up out side the window at 0457. Photos show this, blue LED is from TV, Green one is the Emergency Light with a Towel folded 4 times over it. Hard to take photos of light, the photos do not show how much light was given off. Very unhappy about the lack of sleep, Should it not be up to the hotel to make sure your guests are having a comfortable nights sleep. This can be rectified as it is just a very poor design fault.

Review 3:The brasserie restaurant was basic and didn't like watching swimmers whilst eating dinner. Service was poor aswell for a busy Saturday night.

Review 4:Location was great and the 2 bedroom cottage was spacious, clean and had excellent amenities. We loved the fact that you could walk into the local town.

Review 5:wifi is very patchy. should be improved.

Review 6:newly renovated cottage (clover). enjoyed. spa facilities decent. lots to do outdoors - birks of aberfeldy just a stonethrow away

Review 7:Food wasn't as good as it could have been. Restaurant service wasn't up to standard. No atmosphere at evening meal in fine dining restaurant.

Review 8:Good value for money. Clean and tidy. Helpful staff.

Review 9:Breakfast was excellent but it took an hour to get the full breakfast and a pot of coffee on the table would have been nice rather than having to find the waitress for some coffee each time we needed a refill.

Review 10:The accommodation was excellent - couldn't fault the facilities of our cottage.

Review 11:Meal was very mediocre, insubstantial small portions of veg and 6 tiny chips. Heating went off in the room at night still not on by 11:00am.

Review 12:Location

Review 13:2nd time here and this was better than last. The cottage was huge and immaculate! Staff friendly and helpful and food in the bar was lovely. Looking forward to coming back!

Review 14:The pool area and facilities were very tired. The pool itself was cold and there were no working hair dryers in the changing room. Reception staff at check in was extremely pleasant but the staff member checking us out appeared completely disinterested.

Review 15:Great location for a relaxing family break. The cottage we stayed in was very roomy and clean.

Review 16:Arrived at 4.30 to be told that main restaurant was shut and that smaller café bar restaurant shut at 6.30pm. Being a four star hotel we were looking forward to having a relaxing quality meal. The bar open upstairs until 6.30pm was very café style - more like a cafeteria. The staff told us we could get a taxi into town but as the manager was not around they could not deal with our complaint until the following morning. He added that as there was only one taxi we might struggle. We walked into town on a cold wet night to have a drink in a bar that was virtually empty and eventually found a small Indian restaurant. The bathroom was good with excellent bath, clean etc but very minimal toiletries for a four star. The room was ok but more like a Premier Travel Inn than a four star. The internet TV was very complicated to work and we needed to get some support. The help arrived fairly quickly though. The pool and facilities were ok if a little tired

Review 17:When we eventually spoke with management who would take some responsibility we received a refund from the General Manager although he/she did not actually come out of their room to personally deal with us which was disappointing. However they did apologise and agreed that we should have been informed of the shutdown well before we arrived.

Review 18:As we didn't book a table in the restaurant, we were refused a table, although there was only a handful of tables in. We were however told we could eat off the restaurant menu - if we ate it in the bar area, which we found very odd. We decided to eat upstairs in the bar and ordered from the bar menu. It's more like a swimming pool cafe than a bar. Which would be fine for day time snacks, but it was a strange atmosphere for dinner. We felt very over dressed and had we of known - we would have just ordered roomservice. No music on and TV in a separate area.

Review 19:Our room was very spacious and immaculate. The cleaners did a fantastic job. Comfortable room. Nice pool and sauna. Very peaceful and relaxing stay.

Review 20:This was a trip to celebrate my mum's 70th birthday and as a group we spent over £1000 between the accommodation, bar and spa. Despite this the reservations agent in spoke with refused to send me a brochure so that I could give this to my mum with her gift prior to coming. I was told to print of the net and when I explained the reason I wanted a proper brochure and asked if there were any in the hotel is was ignored and got no response to my email. My sister in law called a few weeks later unbeknown to me and had the same response. Of course as I expected the resort was full of brochures when we arrived and clearly this person just couldn't be bothered. Fortunately it didn't put us off coming but very poor service indeed.

Review 21:Loved the location and really suitable for our extended family gathering as suits all ages.

Review 22:The bed in one of the suites was particularly hard, didn't sleep overly well and woke with a sore back. Would be better with a slightly softer mattress.

Review 23:Amazing food, not a huge variety on the menu but food cooked to perfection.

Review 24:Unfortunately the hot water was not working in the first cottage we were allocated so we needed to be re-located. The 2nd cottage, although comfortable, was not as spacious or as well located as the first.

Review 25:The cottage was comfortable and very well equipped. The pool and spa facilities were good and the overall situation of the resort was very pleasant.

Review 26:The floor above our room squeaked every time someone moved. this woke myself and my partner up, which defeated the point of the relaxing night away. Lack of staff due to wedding being held in the venue.

Review 27:Lovely location. Good sized room with great facilities.

Review 28:Some parts of the resort are starting to look it's age

Review 29:Room in hotel excellent restaurant food excellent breakfast made to order also exellent

Review 30:Would highly recommend, cottage was very clean and comfortable can't wait to go back, the food in the hotels restaurant was great. Staff very nice and helpful.

Review 31:On Sunday restaurant opened at 8.30 am we were advised it was help yourself heated trays with usual offerings but no eggs of any description there were many complaints. Small Japanese server not helpful and brusque.

Review 32:Rooms were well equipped and spacious

Review 33:Room wasn't ready on arrival, and cleaner swore when we arrived at the room as they were still there! no in room booklet re emergency exits, how to use the to etc. Room very small and carpet not clean - standards dropped a lot since last visit in February. Breakfast was of a very low standard despite being cooked to order. Again lack of trained staff - husband asked for two poached eggs with bacon and waitress brought out two plates with bacon and poached egg instead of one. I ordered beans on toast and was given one slice of toast with less than a spoonful of cold beans - even after getting reheated they were still cold. Unable to get a glass of dessert wine with dessert as they only sold by the glass - very unusual as mostly this is taken by the glass not the bottle. Terrace area really needs worked on - currently no more than a swimming pool cafe, and not a good one. Not somewhere you would want to chill out and have a drink. Complained at reception desk and was asked to fill in comments card so they could pass to c/services - I did this and am still waiting on a reply. Sad really as this could be somewhere really special in a fantastic location if it had a bit of money spent on it and staff were trained better. Suffice to say won't be back again which is a shame as really enjoyed stay earlier in the year.

Review 34:Location. Evening meal in restaurant was good, although room itself lacked ambience and staff needed basic training. The waitress was just in training but unfortunately didn't seem to be anyone training her - not her fault.

Review 35:The service in the main dining room was passable, just. It was very slow, items in breakfast buffet were not replenished in some cases. Staff had to be asked for coffee and sought out to get orders taken. This is a shame considering the rest of the staff were exceptional in the rest of the public areas as well as the upstairs restaurant.

Review 36:Great location, staff super friendly and helpful in all areas with the exception of main dining room.

Review 37:We were travelling with friends, all made reservations at the same time, they got outstanding, well furnished rooms, ours was very basic and the prices were the same.

Review 38:Lovely dining room and good staff

Review 39:The wifi reception wasn't great around the hotel for people who might use it. However we never used it so it wasn't a problem.

Review 40:We had dinner at the restaurant on our first night and the food was amazing. On our second day we had the couple's massage and spa lunch which was also great. The spa facilities were really nice. The room we stayed in was perfect and had everything you need with a generously sized bathroom. It was clean and comfortable and my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our two nights stay.

Review 41:Food in bistro was apalling and certainly not 4 star. We waited one hour for tasteless soup and cheese on nachos was not even melted. Breakfast was also disappointing. The resort was poorly staffed although staff themselves were pleasant

Review 42:Gym was a bit small. I wanted to have a bath but the water was cold

Review 43:Location, staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast and dinners were good, swimming pool was good. Our room was spacious.

Review 44:it was a shame the chef fell ill and we could not eat at resort as we had two eldely people in our group so had get carry out from town witch was limited

Review 45:peace and quiet

Review 46:Quality of the accommodation is very poor. We stayed in a two bedroom cottage that definitely was not luxury as billed on the advertising.

Review 47:Beautiful grounds and location.

Review 48:The breakfast on Sunday morning was sent out very quickly and was stone cold. We requested a fresh breakfast for me which was embarrassing and made me feel uncomfortable.

Review 49:The location was awesome and the hotel itself; beautiful. The website and pictures online do not do the hotel nor its facilities justice. We were pleasantly surprised at the level of accommodation and quality of facilities available. I especially appreciated the phone call prior to our arrival to enquire if we would like any 'frills' this added a real personal touch and got our weekend off to a wonderful start. The staff were all pleasant and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will definitely come back.

Review 50:Failure to respond to request for a second bed in the room. One of our party had to sleep on the ground. It could have easily been rectified with a fold out bed.

Review 51:Lovely place - very nicely kept - clean and tidy

Review 52:Cottage supposed to sleep 4 adults. Truckle bed not very suitable. Wi Fi wouldnt link up in cottage. Decor and fittings getting tired.

Review 53:Being contacted day before about our stay. Food delicious. Spa pool and steam room good. Overall suited our needs

Review 54:Bed mattress's were very hard, no toiletries, extra £14 for electricity given the price for the accommodation.

Review 55:Rooms were nice(two bedroom), restaurant was excellent

Review 56:breakfast wasn't of a 4 star standard. Bacon had been laser cut - so thin there was no taste and so hard that it was impenetrable with either knife or fork.

Review 57:Fab location. Comfortable room.

Review 58:Would have benefited from a welcome guide about the Hotel in the room. A larger offer of bowls of fresh fruit at breakfast. Would have enhanced the experience. The bar/ bistro area could do with a refresh.

Review 59:Very comfortable, well presented room and a good size en suite.

Review 60:Hotel needs updated. Breakfast was poor, only one member of staff on for breakfast and the area was dirty tables needing cleared and buffet needing replenished. Pool was very cold dirty and steam room had a very mouldy smell.

Review 61:The TV was very difficult to operate and I had to ask for help from reception and it took a long time to get through. I ate in the Terrace Grill and I had to send the starter and the main course back as they were still raw. When I mentioned this at check out it was treated with indifference.

Review 62:The room was comfortable and clean.

Review 63:Although we knew in advance that the hot tub wasn't working (due to previous reviews over the last couple of months) upon check-in all facilities were explained to us but we weren't told about hot tub. I think a little bit of honesty is needed here. On the day we used the spa facilities, the jacuzzi was out of order too. Not sure if this just happened but I do know it had been happening regularly.

Review 64:Stunning location, close to town, good base for outings. Cottage was better than expected. Read a lot of bad reviews after booking but in my opinion, most were just 'nitpicking'

Review 65:I was promised that their customer service department was going to get in touch with me about compensation because there were numerous issues with the unit, (WI-Fi not working in the unit therefore had to use up personal data, two faulty toilets with one of them not flushing, door bell not working so that the worker walked right in and I missed a visitor, others parking in our assigned parking spot, etc.) No-one has gotten in touch with me and it has been almost two weeks!

Review 66:Location.

Review 67:Pool a bit cooler than expected. Restaurant and bar seemed short staffed although Ocean and the young maitre d' coped admirably.

Review 68:Lovely spacious bedroom and bathroom. Delicious food in main restaurant served by pleasant staff. Wonderful facial in spa. Very pleasant surroundings in and around the hotel.

Review 69:WIFI was dreadful....needs an upgrade. Other locations in town had good access but all we heard were excuses as to why theirs was poor.

Review 70:Cottage suited travel with a baby

Review 71:Spa wasn't clean Very basic accommodation for price Lack of drink stock - they ran out of most options I.e beer, cider, wine Spa staff unprofessional Very tired overall

Review 72:-Sofa bed was uncomfortable. -Cooker nob was loose. -Stain on carpet in living room. -WiFi was rubbish.

Review 73:-Location to town centre. -Cheap place to go.

Review 74:Wifi only worked in the main building and not in the cottages.. No 3G on the estate.. The TV was awkward to use and hardly any freeview channels were available..

Review 75:Leisure facilities were good. The kids had a great time in the pool and sports hall.. Self catering cottage was nice and close to the leisure facilities..

Review 76:Described as luxury cottage, but really just average. Staff on reception could be a little more helpful and enthusiastic.

Review 77:Very good location; large cottage

Review 78:Wifi was non-existent in our cottage. Breakfast should be included in the price as it was very expensive both the accomadation and the breakfast.

Review 79:Location very central. Very spacious accomadation

Review 80:Carpets in need of a freshen up or even replaced. The little things make all the difference. Couple of maintenance issues that let the apartment down but overall good and a comfortable stay. A little bit of modernisation would take it into a higher bracket.

Review 81:Towels and bedding spotless. Well equipped. Facilities in the Hotel were good especially for children. Quick hassle free check-in and check-out. Could be a stunning apartment with a little update.

Review 82:The cottages were in need of updating. Loads of patches all over the walls. Needed re painted. The cottages also smelled a bit damp and the beds and pillows were really uncomfortable

Review 83:I liked the resort location and the pool/sauna/jacuzzi was fine

Review 84:Small room, but adequate. No cocktail menu in bar. Waitress taking drink orders did not know what "malt whisky" was.

Review 85:Reception staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 86:We did not have a bad experience, far from it. Minor points relate to maintenance which was instant upon request, pleasant and helpful. We had Magpie - please check the double glazing next the patio door the beading has come out so could the glass panel! Check also the handle on the downstairs loo. A measuring jug in the kitchen would be good!

Review 87:Pool for the little ones ( and some biggies!) Grounds were relaxing. Putting good for the children as were some activities.

Review 88:The hot tub was broken and we were told it wouldn't be fixed. We booked afternoon tea and were really looking forward to it. It looked amazing but when we bit into the scones they tasted like salt. I told the staff but they didn't really care

Review 89:The food was really good

Review 90:Someone with a chainsaw in the resort starting work at 9am on weekends, not quite the relaxing break with that noise continuing for hours on end

Review 91:Everything

Review 92:The bed was very hard and two single beds pushed together was not conjusive for a restfull sleep.

Review 93:The facilities were very good and the setting was lovely

Review 94:A comfy bed and pillows would complete the joyful experience.

Review 95:The cottage was lovely with a fantastic view. Ample parking. The staff was very helpful . A very restful holiday with no hassles.

Review 96:Difficult logging into wifi and more information on this!

Review 97:Hotel was very clean, lovely quite resort, room was very spacious ,bath and shower facilities were excellent would say better than the Hilton hotel &mcdonald hotel resorts that we normally stay in as there were no size restrictions that we've currently experienced. Staff very friendly breakfast was lovely staff very attentive.

Review 98:Hot tub wasn't working :(

Review 99:Perfect location!! Love aberfeldy, Moness is absolutely amazing! The bath is huge, will definitely be back for a few nights instead of the one!

Review 100:Thumping noise from a wedding and couldn't get to sleep, food was burnt, staff not very helpful when told,Charged for a breakfast which was free,Which we didn't even have. Apart from that nice room

Review 101:Rooms were nice

Review 102:Location is great. Few minutes walk into Aberfeldy town. Rooms very comfortable. Massive bathroom and a delicious breakfast. Would really recommend this hotel.

Review 103:Terrible check out which took 2 people to sort out while we waited for a long time (half an hour ) desperate to go. A disappointing end to a lovely stay, trying to pay for 9 people in 4 rooms, which presented a challenge to staff at reception. No comfy lounge to chill after dinner only bar/ family area upstairs. Sitting at tables all night and noisy.

Review 104:Nice comfy bedroom Lovely location Good breakfast Attentive waiters Excellent Dinner

Review 105:The hot tub wan't working, the steam room wasn't working and the jacuzzi next to the pool wasn't working - these are the things I would have enjoyed. When I had scrambled egg for breakfast there was a bit big shell in it, but I told the waitress who apologised and said she would pass it on to the chef.

Review 106:Nice room and surroundings

Review 107:Advertised as a cottage with a picture of a cottage on its own but infact was more like a row of flats not what expected atal. Bed was 2singles put together, was really uncomfortable and as a couple staying having a massive split down bed wasn't good. As self catering expected the hob/oven to be sufficient but they where temperamental and the pan provided was terrible! The surprise of having to pay for your electricity at the end was not atal a good end to our holiday as it was never once mentioned by staff. All in all for the money that was paid it was not what we expect and not worth it. We have since found 'cottages' within 10miles for cheaper and what you expect for a cottage!

Review 108:Great location and free use of swimming pool, stream room sauna etc was good.

Review 109:Thought there might have some kind of entertainment on the Saturday night. Posters up for a live band but nothing was on

Review 110:The rooms were lovely . Guy at bar was really nice

Review 111:Great clean cottages, with huge space for our group of 9 to sit and chat, eat and drink :). The spa was fantastic and overall we had a fantastic relaxing weekend

Review 112:Arrived to what we thought would be a beautiful cottage as picture on line shows it was. Well that's definitely not the case the cottage was poorfully decorated and smelled absolutely disgusting. We called right away to complain spoke with a manager John who was completely unhelpful and very obnoxious. For the money we spent on the 2 day romantic break I am absolutely appaulled.

Review 113:Nothing

Review 114:nothing

Review 115:we were delighted with the size of the cottage, it was big enough to hold 2 adults and 3 teenagers with plenty of space to spare. The pool area was also a big hit!

Review 116:Wasn't to happy with the food in the terrace bar. £10 for macaroni and chips and it was cold when I got it.

Review 117:Nearly everything staff are so friendly, ,quietness of the area, plenty of places to visit within travelling distance.

Review 118:Night porter and reception staff were effortlessly brilliant and made us feel very welcome. Great value for money - look out for special offers for great room rates.

Review 119:The place is in need of a facelift - with old TVs that you need a degree to work. I also didn't like the lack of transparency of the final bill for electricity - would be better to have a card meter so you can see exactly what you are paying.

Review 120:The beds were comfortable and the place was clean.

Review 121:sofa bed quality no really good, but it should be expected with that type of bed

Review 122:Size of the cottage (2bedroom/2bathroom) - swimming pool/spa - location - staff

Review 123:service at bar was particularly slow.

Review 124:Nice location, with clean comfortable self catering cottages. Kids enjoyed the freedom to run around in safe surroundings & liked the swimming pool.

Review 125:Wife connection not good at all, nothing to gripe about if that's all that was wrong!

Review 126:Great relaxing, used pool, sauna hot tub. Great to be able to walk into Aberfeldy.

Review 127:Residents of cottages are charge additional for electricity, per unit used

Review 128:Beautiful surrounding area. Room/suite, and cottage, comfortable spacious, and well equipped. Nice and quiet so able to relax and get a good nights sleep! Food delicious and very well presented.

Review 129:Outdated cottage with old fashioned electric cooker.. Which inincreased electric charge at end of stay.Very uncomfortable sofa bed which could not be used during stay. Poor customer service when complaining at end of stay.

Review 130:Location ideal. Nice grounds and friendly ducks which could be hand fed

Review 131:I can find nothing to complain about, other than when a male attendant walked in to the ladies changing room without announcing himself. We raised this with reception on departure and were told it would be addressed.

Review 132:Friendly, helpful staff - particularly Keith and James who made us feel so welcome and were great banter! The pool facilities were good, water lovely and warm, though could do with a lick of paint but this did not ruin our experience at all. Karaoke night on the Friday was good fun too! Meals were lovely! We used the bar and the restaurant, quality food! The Birks is so close by, we had a lovely walk there taking in the amazing scenery. All in all, a great time had by all 11 of us ladies. Yes, we made a bit of noise which didn't go down well with one complainant, but cant please everyone! Our accommodation was perfect for us, we even managed to fit all 11 of us into the living room for drinks. So very spacious and well equipped too.

Review 133:After a tiring day retired to bed only to be woken late at night with the people in the room above walking about, it was very noisy!

Review 134:Liked the grounds, location and the food.

Review 135:Stayed in a one bed two floor cottage was not suitable to leave kids to sleep upstairs due to the balcony door being easily accessed and didn't want to leave them downstairs either so I slept with kids while my husband slept on his own. Horrific decor, really ugly and dated. Shower was just a dribble, husband and kids just showered at pool. Kitchen was tiny. Our parking space was used by the family next door for the whole weekend. The upstairs area had a smell probably due to poor ventilation in the kitchen. We had to pay for the electricity we used which wasn't explained on booking. And getting the ancient tv off and on was a nightmare! We had a nice stay in the end but was not at all what I had expected or 4* standard.

Review 136:Clean Friendly staff

Review 137:wifi did not work in the cottages very well. drains could have been better. some of the furniture / decor was a little bit 'tired' very few sockets in the kitchen areas

Review 138:location and proximity to Aberfeldy centre were great.. pool was good for relaxing with the kids.

Review 139:Ate in the bistro restaurant veggie burger was inedible it came on a burger bun called a brioche roll. There was a slice of tomato a lettuce leaf and chips. My husband had steak & ae pie which was ok.

Review 140:Location is good nice area for walking, gardens and sight seeing

The Fine Print
