Reviews for Bridge House Hotel
Review 1:Floors were very noisy and beds were uncomfortable. Location wasn't the best compared to other hotels, very dangerous as there are no paths on a narrow road.
Review 2:Staff were very nice and always smiling. Breakfast was very quick and delicious. Rooms were cleaned everyday.
Review 3:An informal, low key but classy hotel; beatifully situated in the heart of Grasmere. The grounds were spacious, as was the room. The staff were helpful, kindly and efficient
Review 4:The welcome from the duty receptionist and attitude of the staff in general. The convenient location in relation to the town of Grasmere and the peaceful grounds surrounding the hotel.
Review 5:Four poster bed creaked on turning in bed, floor boards creaked above us throughout the night from walking of occupants.
Review 6:Cosy small Hotel in pleasant surroundings. We will be very happy to return for a longer stay
Review 7:Nothing to fault! If anything they possibly need a couple more staff around to make it sleeker but we were happy as the staff multi-tasked very well indeed!
Review 8:EVERYTHNG WE LOVED! A lovely stay and great location. It was just perfect for us! So close to everything and so nice and quiet. Loved feeding the ducks from our window and the beds were so comfy and all clean. Breakfast was fantastic and staff so helpful. They could not have worked harder whilst always smiling! Evening meals were amazing!
Review 9:Perhaps because of remote location, but no Wifi available. Find this unusual these days.
Review 10:Very friendly staff; good dinner options at very reasonable price. Lovely location right next to the river.
Review 11:Wifi was very poor in that it was very very slow and under powered even to check or send emails. The beds were a little hard for us but that maybe a personal preference.
Review 12:Very happy with the staff and accommodation. The breakfast was as you would expect. The location for us was very nice and the rooms/ bathrooms were clean. We will visit again in the future.
Review 13:just that we did not let them know that we would have liked a cool room, and not the warmest room in the hotel, over the kitchen, but great smells, we did get moved no problem,
Review 14:lovely place to stay, food great, made very comfortable and welcome , easy to recommend to anyone
Review 15:Our room was located directly above the kitchens so very hot, avoid this room!
Review 16:lovely location, grasmere beautiful village and the hotel itself also very quaint English small hotel
Review 17:Bed uncomfortable. Room 17 has the fire exit for that level . We could not lock the door. Woken up at 7am by kitchen staff cleaning potatoes outside window.
Review 18:Great location. Friendly staff.
Review 19:Full English breakfast was good but small portion, I definitely wasn't full. Their internet connection wouldn't connect.
Review 20:Location and staff excellent, hotel and bedroom very good
Review 21:Very pet friendly - no issues with my two spaniels and no charge for them!. I had a ground floor room near the front door, so easy to get in and out with pets. Excellent service and very good food. Right in the centre of Grasmere. Plenty of parking. No noise or hassle.
Review 22:Everything lovely setting we were there for a wedding and it was all perfect. The Hotel was great just not used to the bed's being an older couple I have a bad back it was just a bit hard.
Review 23:The beds were a bit firmer that I would have liked, but overall this did not impact on the quality of our stay.
Review 24:Room was quite comfortable and spacious and overlooked the river, which was much to my daughter's liking!!
Review 25:The food was served far too quickly, breakfast on first day everything overcooked. Stayed in hotel following evening food quality excellent but served a five course meal in less than an hour.
Review 26:The room was very spacious even though it was in the attic not a problem. everything very clean. Staff very welcoming. Hotel in prime spot.
Review 27:Ordered evening meal, found it to be a bit drab and tasteless. Side plate of vegetables were all put in a bowl together very watery and bland.Roast potatoes were very strange. Left all the veg no one asked if there was a problem.
Review 28:Bedroom clean and tidy, bathroom same with nice toiletries. Bed was comfortable. Nice selection of teas and coffee, decaff included.Breakfast was very good
Review 29:Restaurant did not offer a huge choice on an evening & especially for younger children.
Review 30:Location & setting of the property was fantastic, loads of great walks starting from the doorstep of the hotel and easy access to the village amenities.
Review 31:External fire door in bathroom did not lock from the inside. Asked to put our smalll blind dog on lead in garden when there were no signs to say so.
Review 32:Location and cleanliness of room.
Review 33:This is a very friendly and accommodating pet loving charming Cosy hotel in the middle of the lakes.I was even offered porridge at 6am for my early start (Fred Whitton ) and allowed to keep my bike in the room !
Review 34:Staff rude not giving you the correct information. Bed room ment to be king more like single with a double bed in it, asking to much money for rooms there not worth it.. don't stay there
Review 35:Ideal hotel location, nestling in the trees on the edge of the village. Nice top floor room, but lots of stairs and limited headroom! Very pleasant staff, and a great full breakfast.
Review 36:The only criticism I have is over the extremely hard bed, which we found very uncomfortable.
Review 37:We joined a group of friends for a walking weekend in Grasmere & The Bridge House is ideally situated, right in the centre.Parking was no problem. Our room was situated on the ground floor and was very spacious with a large bathroom. We had lovely views of the surrounding countryside - the river ran right alongside our window! The staff were very pleasant and service was excellent, with our large party all being served together very efficiently. The food was first class and excellent value for money. We are already planning a return visit!
Review 38:The only thing that we didn't like was that the hotel didn't seem to be equipt for evening meals.they seemed to be a bit understaffed we had to go to another hotel for dinner.
Review 39:Hotel was in a good location,There was plenty cafes close by.The staff were all pleasent and helpful, the room was roomy and clean.the breakfast was good. would definately book again.
Review 40:The tables in the dining room were, in some cases, too close together. It was sometimes not possible to avoid unwanted and persistent coversation with neigbouring guests
Review 41:Lovely food, efficiently served; a very good system of advance ordering for dinner.
Review 42:The room was above the kitchen, therefore some noise. The bed was very uncomfortable.
Review 43:Location was very good, very welcoming & breakfast was lovely.
Review 44:The hotel was ideally situated for our needs. The room was excellent and it made our stay very comfortable. All the staff were polite and extremely helpful. We will definitely stay again and I've recommended the hotel to family and friends.

Review 53:Grasmere is a busy village. Bus loads of walkers and visitors arrive each day. Bridge House Hotel has excellent gardens and lounges that allow you to hide away from all the activity when you need a break. It is very central and once there you can just park the car and leave it. Food was excellent. Dining in was good value for money. Staff were lovely, helpful and efficient.
Review 54:Food was average. Bed was uncomfortable. Decor was tired. Staff had quite bad English (but were friendly) Bathroom had a glass door looking straight into the staff smoking area.
Review 55:Location was excellent.
Review 56:Our first room (with riverside view) was awful: Too hot, too noisy (from kitchen &/or air-con), + dodgy light fittings etc. So glad we could change rooms! If we couldn't this review would be far worse!
Review 57:Our second room was very nice, the staff were helpful and the food was great.
Review 58:The room price for the following day was too expensive, compared to the first night which we booked by 'phone. The restaurant was a bit fussy and the food was okay but not special. The waitress seemed to want to do something else rather than get a drink for my friend after we had finished our meal.
Review 59:The view. The balcony.

Review 65:The location was right in the village of Grasmere so very convenient for exploring the village and surrounds without having to take the car.
Review 66:En suite very tired, poor shower, needs refurbishment. Inflexible staff in dining room, we ate a little late but were put on a table in a corner when all the window tables were free. Seemed unecessary
Review 67:Location excellent. We had a room overlooking the river. Evening meal very good value for money and good food to boot. Owner very accommodating and pleasant
Review 68:The tiny room (no. 5) particularly the bathroom(.Previous review are exactly right.) Certainly not value for money in that particular room. Too quiet in the restaurant, just a little background music would have been good . Everyone seems to head off to bed by 9 so no-one to chat to in the bar .not much else going on and very little atmosphere about the place.
