Reviews for Nuthurst Grange Country House Hotel & Restaurant
Review 1:I was on the top floor and the wifi didn't reach my room
Review 2:Very pleasant, good food and escellent wifi - I could even watch the rugby world cup live on my laptop
Review 3:The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, greeted me by first name on my second night when I was in the lounge which I thought was a nice touch.
Review 4:The room is very large and very well maintained. The place is quiet even being so close to motorway. The double glazing is efficient. And every employee is very helpful.
Review 5:We found the ignorance of one staff member quite rude. We were waiting in the bar area while she was on the phone, she then finished on the phone looked at us and then continued doing something at her desk, we were standing there for 15 mins and she was in no hurry to serve us, eventually we gave up and left the bar area.
Review 6:The bath was amazing and the grounds are beautiful.
Review 7:The pillows were not comfortable. We were disturbed by noisy wedding guests returning to their rooms. The check in time of 3pm with check out at 1030 am is not acceptable for a night's hotel stay.
Review 8:We were greeted by very attentive staff and our supper was made memorable by appetisers and great service.
Review 9:the hotel, setting and grounds are lovely. very friendly, efficient staff. restaurant food was outstanding. the upgrade to bridal suite was the icing on the cake! wonderful stay
Review 10:Light levels in bedroom 3. Couldn't read easily after dark. Overhead light not really bright enough (3 candle bulbs) - no wall lights to compensate.
Review 11:All staff were excellent, helpful and cheerful.
Review 12:No comment as all aspects met with our expectations. Somewhat bemused by negative comments made by others???
Review 13:To celebrate our 25 Wedding Anniversary we booked an evening at the NutHurst Hotel. With Champagne and flowers waiting in the room ( pre-ordered) and an excellent evening meal in the restaurant, we were able to relax and enjoy a landmark date with courteous service in a quiet independent hotel overlooking the Warwickshire hillside. An ideal setting for that 'special' evening away.
Review 14:The hotel the surroundings & the room

Review 28:Very clean, friendly and helpful staff, excellent location.
Review 29:Early checkout
Review 30:Luxurious retreat! Fabulous food! Fabulous room!
Review 31:Restaurant food was of a high standard.
Review 32:The bedroom had confetti in it which transferred to both ourselves and our luggage.
Review 33:The staff in the restaurant at dinner were excellent.
Review 34:No lift, motorway noise
Review 35:Staff. Location. Comfort. Service. Food. Everything !!!!!
Review 36:I didnt want to leave.
Review 37:lovely location amazing staff. fabulous interior.
Review 38:Lack of air conditioning
Review 39:Location Staff friendly Ease of parking Proximity to all main routes Food
Review 40:My room wouldn't lock from the outside, noise from what I think was an extractor. A bit picky - Cheese desert I ordered was mainly made up of fruit , biscuits etc not that much cheese, what was there was excellent though. All in all a very nice hotel
Review 41:Helpfulness of staff, location , excellent view across the country side hiding M40. Very comfortable bed. Superb English breakfast and main course dinner.
Review 42:Room 1 , groundfloor, was much more noisy than expected with rumbling water pipes. Could only open 1 small window for fresh air and this was onto the main drive so passing traffic, pedestrians were noisy. Not enough lighting to be able to work at the desk easily.
Review 43:Great sized room. Very comfortable bed, Very good "extras" in the bathroom.
Review 44:Can't think of anything
Review 45:Size of rooms comfort of bed friendliness of staff. My husband(who is aplumber) mentioned the toilet seat was loose and they offered to changeour room there Ann then which was not needed but was an excellent andswift response to a small issue
Review 46:The only issue for me was that you have to drive everywhere. It would be nice to be able to walk down to local pub or if the hotel put on a shuttle service to nearby Henley at night.
Review 47:This is a lovely warm and welcoming hotel with a touch of old fashioned style & class. The staff are really helpful and friendly and the food is divine. It is very relaxing place to stay so unlike the modern cold hotels that have sprung up everywhere.
Review 48:We were first given room 12 which was very shabby and had a strange smell, we were then given room 7 (all other rooms full) and this left a lot to be desired, very dusty, light switches loose, taps wobbly and the bathroom had seen better days. We did but the hotel was full and we were unable to have another room, we were there for 2 nights and on the 2nd night we were told we could change, but didn't want the fuss of moving everything just for the evening. Such a pity as all the staff are helpful, the food is good, but accommodation is in need of updating and clening.
Review 49:This was our 4th stay at Nuthurst, chosen for location, good food and good accommodation, however, the accommodation on this occasion had deteriorated
Review 50:I travel for business and need to work a lot with my laptop when not in meetinsg. The rooms do not have a table and chair where you can sit with laptop and write comfortably, plus the wifi connection was rather slow. But for all the rest I recommend it without hesitation
Review 51:friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast, cosy structure (country house). A real must if you want a stay in a nice romantic countryhouse
Review 52:*Could hear the noise from the motorway which is close by. The bedroom was quiet but you could hear it in the breakfast room. *We had to ask for the heat to be turned on
Review 53:Lovely surroundings - lovely country house - staff were very friendly
Review 54:Continuous overnight noise in room 9 from a compressor. We had to move to Room 11 at 3.00am as it was so bad. Staff responded well to our complaint, but shame we had room 9 in the first place.
Review 55:Very good facilities and staff very efficient and friendly. Lovely room, quite large and spacious.
Review 56:Service at dinner poor. Very old fashioned furniture and not what I would call luxury at all. Motorway noise from our room and noisy bolier ensured very little sleep - not what I wanted ahead of an important meeting
Review 57:Location near to Solihull where I had a meeting the following day and an easy commute.
Review 58:The room and bathroom were excellent and the staff were very accommodating when we needed a room to change in before checking in. The view from the room was quite stunning overlooking lovely gardens.
Review 59:You can hear the noise of the motorway. Windows in my room (no 6) single glass only. Matras of the bed is not of the best quality and should be renewed.
Review 60:Hotel is very well situated in the middle of the country site but close to M40 & M42 - Birmingham. Staff is very kind and helpfull. Older building with a lot of caracter, they try to maintain to modern standard. Great room with a view on the sheep. Large badroom with both a recent modern shower and bath. Despite some negative remarks, I will come back again.
Review 61:A minor point but the bar staff were non existent (although reception summoned someone every time we wished to order a drink). The only beer that was on a pump was "off" and the staff that were available did not or could not change the barrel. There was bottle beer available though
Review 62:Staff helpful, friendly and with flexible attitude. Excellent room/bathroom. Food very good.
Review 63:It was a little far from work, but the countryside is lovely!
Review 64:Helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful location and delicious food (their soups are great!)
Review 65:Our room was a bit of an odd shape with the ceilings sloping down in five different places which made walking around a bit of a problem if like us you are 5'10" and more. Not ideal having no power point next to a mirror for us ladies to dry our hair. We had to disconnect the fridge and use the extension lead so the dryer lead would reach and be close to a mirror.
Review 66:The location of the hotel was superb driving down a long secluded drive. The ideal location for a peaceful stay. The public areas were superb, nice furnishings and plenty of place to sit and relax. The restaurant was excellent and certainly five star for quality. Service from the staff was excellent and nothing was too much trouble.
Review 67:Would have had diner in the hotel restaurant but thought it a little expensive.
Review 68:A relaxing place to stay set in lovely grounds and conveniently situated with easy access to the motorway. Excellent breakfast.
Review 69:Driveway suffering with pot holes unfortunately.....bit of a suspension wrecker! Staff a wee bit noisy during breakfast....noticeably "busy" whilst setting up another table for a breakfast meeting party who were just arriving...but overall very good
Review 70:Spacious and very comfortable room...nice welcome from staff member on late arrival in snowy conditions. Quiet location...great breakfast....super bathroom (room 9)...would definitely book again.
Review 71:Friendly and attentive staff. Spacious and comfortable room with large bed. Food in the restaurant was fantastic. Well worth the extra verses an ordinary budget hotel.
Review 72:Nothing
Review 73:We stayed at the hotel as we were attending a party at the Stables Barn within the grounds of the hotel. The rooms were all different, clean, cosy and had so much character. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful and the full English breakfast was excellent.
Review 74:The shower head was a little low for me and a joint in the shower leaked but that was very minor
Review 75:The room was large, with a four poster bed, well decorated and clean The bathroom was large but the sunken bath was difficult to negotiate as you went up three steps to go down into the bath with no safety rail The evening meal was excellent and the breakfast was freshly cooked to order - a rare thing indeed! The staff were very good, the service was fast but not rushed even though there was a large party there We will definitely return
Review 76:A bit cold in the room, but I'm sure if I'd asked, they'd have sorted it.
Review 77:Friendly staff, beautiful location, lovely breakfast. Great co-ordination and attentive staff at function I attended.
Review 78:The Hotel Bar is a bit lacking in atmosphere and small so, being a lone traveller when using the bar you tend to be in amongets everyone else using the bar as there is no room to spread out.
Review 79:The spacious bedroom, the spacious bathroom with spa bath and the very comfortable beds
Review 80:Although there were some new furnishings, headboard, lamps, curtains the other furniture was tired and the carpet in the room a disgrace, way to many stains by the entrance and throughout the room, really off-putting and made us think twice about walking barefoot. Tea and coffee making facilities were poor, had to move kettle to the dressing table to plug in and the ground coffee provided in container was stale and undrinkable. Breakfast was mediocre, poor coffee, there seems to be a theme. Undercooked porridge and overbooked eggs. Limited continental breakfast choice, not displayed to best effect.
Review 81:Good setting/location with welcoming staff and cosy, well decorated lounge area. The mini bar in the room had a good choice and was reasonably priced. Spacious room (13) with lovely views.
Review 82:bedside lamps not easy to turn on/off when in bed, no light to read by when sitting on sofa (room 4), shaver light did not work during our stay - it should not be the guest to advise the management that this was out of action !!
Review 83:quiet, good food and comfortable, if slightly old fashioned room.
Review 84:The bath in my room (13) was accessed via tiled steps and there was no hand or grab rail. This made getting out of the bath a bit risky with wet feet. The evening dining was overly formal. One was instructed to take a seat in the ante area where a menu was presented. Bar drinks orders were taken and a small appetiser was presented, eventually the meal order was taken. I arrived for dinner at 19:00 and was finally at my table at 19:30. The meal items were very beautifully cooked and presented but the portion sizes were miniscule (quite the opposite of breakfast).
Review 85:Good sized car park. The staff were all very friendly and made me feel welcome. The choices at breakfast were excellent e.g. very generous portions of smoked salmon & scrambled eggs, kedgeree, as well as a long list of items for the "Full English". There was also the standard buffet table for juices, cereals etc. All tables had linen table cloths and we were given linen napkins. The room contained everything the traveller could want or need e.g. flat screen Freeview TV, iron and board, hairdryer, "proper" shoe cleaning box & floor safe. Bottled water was also supplied. Several occasional chairs as well as a cloth-covered table laid with tea, coffe & biscuits.
Review 86:The restaurant was a lovely setting, but the menu choice wasn't to my liking.
Review 87:Location and value for money. My room enormous, well equiped and furnished. I would definately stay again. Staff were friendly.
Review 88:Very comfort, spacious and nicely furnished Edwardian country house in the country but close to both the M42 and M40. Friendly staff, relaxing environment and great breakfast.
Review 89:A number of steps from the car park made it slightly difficult with a number of bags and a wheelie case ... plus no lift once inside
Review 90:A lovely bit of piece and quiet only minutes away from the main motorways of M42 and M40. Lovely staff who were very accomodating , hige rooms woith a huge bath, and food was delicious Would stay again
Review 91:The noise from the motorway was a bit of a shame, though we still really liked the place.
Review 92:Room was lovely - well decorated, clean and well equipped. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely gardens, great braekfast.
Review 93:It was rather quiet and shame about M40 noise. Large fan or something outside bathroom window of room 9 but ok when windon closed. had to heave the mini-bar/TV aside to get to the plug to turn TV on but luckilly I'm quite strong.
Review 94:location great for Solihull and M40. Good rooms and breakfast, staff seemed friendly
Review 95:Beautiful boutique style hotel. Excellent service and accomodation. Luxury from start to finish. Highly recommend staying here if visiting the Birmingham area.
Review 96:Sadly, the outside terrace is spoiled by the sound of the nearbymotorway. The restaurant should introduce a dress code for diners.
Review 97:We enjoyed having our dinner in the Orangery which was a very light andpleasant room to eat in and took full advantage of the lovely views. Ourbedroom was also extremely spacious and comfortable.
Review 98:I arrived at breakfast and was shocked and the lack of it! i believe there where juices, cereal, yoghurt, and fruit. When i asked for a 'Continental breakfast' they told me it was laid out!!! So i opted for scrambled egg and sausages otherwise may not have got anything. They had to lay me out a table as they didn't expect me? They only have 15 rooms for gods sake!! On the 2nd morning they laid the table for me once again as they didn't expect me. It was laid at a table previously used to eat on and not cleaned up. YUMMY! Again there where no continental laid out so I ordered one. It never came, and i didn't see a member of staff to ask. They must have all gone home! Disgraceful service for such a stunning property and its 4 stars. Needless to say i didn't stay for dinner
Review 99:Wow what an impressive exterior, after i checked in i was astounded i wasn't offered assistance to room. However my room more than made up for this. It was STUNNING! The receptionist showed me many rooms in this hotel and wow. They are all different and equally stunning. This place is perfect for a romantic retreat. Being a model, i called one of my photographers and arranged a photoshoot. The opportunity was too good to miss. For the rooms i would stay again.
Review 100:Just 1 small niggle. Bar staff over in the barn were not the friendliestduring the evening reception, I can appreciate that it can be quitetedious as everyone gets a little rowdy but they could at least try andpretend not to hate their jobs if just for the sober people. Shamereally as every other aspect of the stay was excellent.
Review 101:The room was very large and the view was beautiful overlooking ponds andcountryside. The room and bathroom were very clean and the luxury brandtoiletries wee a nice touch. We attended a family wedding and the foodwas exquisite certainly no rush mass prepared rubbish you normally getat weddings. This certainly followed through to breakfast which wasdelicious and the ladies serving were so polite and courteous. Thepeople covering reception were very nice too. The loveliest part of ourstay were enjoying the surrounding grounds which are beautifully kept.Would definately stay here again and recommend to friends for weddingsand leisure breaks.
Review 102:You can be assured of a great welcome and a high level of personal service. The staff are most helpful and we look forward to returning whenever we are visiting this area. The location of the hotel is very handy for motorway connections. The food presentation for both breakfast and dinner was really excellent. It would be hard to beat the value for money with such good service and staff. Many thanks for looking after us so well.
Review 103:There is noise from the motorway which some may find distracts fromtheir enjoyment of this hotel. It wasn't intrusive for us indoors.
Review 104:What an unexpected pleasure this hotel is. The staff are professional, friendly and helpful without being ingratiating, the food is extremelygood with no hint of pretension or pomposity, the room was bothluxurious and comfortable, and the gardens are beautiful.
Review 105:I used to stay here many years ago and the standards have slipped very slightly from the original owners who I believe left 3 years ago. Although the stay was perfect there were some stupid things in the room. Kettle cable not long enough to sit on table (had to move chair and table), lamp did not work but was fixed, found an old towel stuffed down by the armchair - minor stuff but the attention to fine detail may have gone. If you want to sit out in summer then the motorway is noisy.
Review 106:This is a great hotel with an excellent restaurant. The food at dinner and breakfast was simply perfect and very stylish. Moreover the dinner cost was very reasonable for haute cuisine of this quality (please do not increase it!!). The booking.com price was very good in comparison to their regular price with about 30% saving which made it good value for an hotel of this quality. The staff are very helpful.
Review 107:An excellent small hotel that is very welcoming, comfortable and in a lovely setting. The food was excellent and the service in the restaurant at dinner was the best I have experienced for a long time. We will definitely return.
Review 108:A little gem of a hotel, The hotel takes you back to yesteryear whennothing is too much trouble and your their to be looked after. The bestbit for me was the food. Very innovative and very very nice. Can't waitto find an excuse to visit again.
Review 109:Everything was amazing! Service quality of good and the surroundings were idyllic will be back!
Review 110:Everything was fine - the staff made the stay perfetct. Love the rabbits around the hotel.
Review 111:Nice decor and surroundings.
Review 112:Loved location and staff very helpful and attentive
Review 113:None
Review 114:Location,friendly staff, good size room, lovely breakfast, great value for money
Review 115:The food was amazing and all the staff lovely, great value for your money,
Review 116:Not keen on the dinner menu, too fancy for my taste
Review 117:Location, service and the friendliness of the staff. The room was well appointed with a nice view.
Review 118:The rain!
Review 119:The setting, the staff, the relaxation, peace and quiet. Great value for money a great location near Birmingham.
Review 120:nothing really
Review 121:the food
Review 122:A little too cold in the room. It was not clear where could we find the WiFi password.
Review 123:Restaurant food was amazing. Staff was very kind and helpful.
Review 124:There was significant but superficial damage to areas in the bathroom
Review 125:The rooms were much larger and well appointed than expected
