Reviews for The Red Lion Inn

Review 1:The whole place is filthy. We were horrified at the state of ourroom.....bathroom was dire, we asked for another room, non available, Ilooked for a room elsewhere..again, none available due to a sell-outevent at the Picturedrome. The landlord Insisted he had cleaned thebathroom himself.....we said it was unacceptable, so he went to sort itout. We went elsewhere for a meal. On our return we found he had giventhe sink a cursory wipe over, there was still black stuff hanging fromthe taps, urine stains on the toilet seat..ugh...grotty..I Neverbelieved that places like this existed...surely there must be some sortof standard they have to meet?? Breakfast was decent enough if you couldoverlook the cardboard condiment carrier (really!) and the stickylooking teapot. The landlord did reduce our fee, but why this place isable to remain open is beyond me.

Review 2:Staff approachable and helpful with taxis. On our return after aconcert, we were made to feel welcome to join in with the group ofpeople singing and chatting.

Review 3:After arriving back to the Red Lion Inn at approx 11pm we had to put up with a pub lock in below our room, guitar led singing that never let up...at 01.45am we packed up and left as it didnt sound as if it was letting up...we were faced with a 2hr drive home.

Review 4:Not a great deal....bedding clean..end of story really,room small,very worn,Tv old fashoned,shower grubby.

Review 5:The bed wasn't the most comfortable, the shower was a bit temperametal, and there was some background noise from the bar, but nothing that spoiled the stay.

Review 6:Very convenient and great access for surrounding areas. Staff were great. Lots of pillows :) Lovely breakfast, no hurry and very laid back.

Review 7:Very welcoming, good value for money room wasn't fancy but had every thing we needed, we had a very comfortable sleep and a fantastic cooked breakfast to set us up for the day

Review 8:Its a beautiful place and Dave is a great host. The regulars are friendly and you will quickly feel at home. However, this is a pub. If you do not like pub smells, pub sounds (it has a late night music license) and the bathroom doubling as a store room, then this will not be the place for you.

Review 9:Nothing

Review 10:Excellent location, really friendly locals and Dave the Landlord. Room ideal for us,the breakfasts are an excellent start to the day. Very happy.

Review 11:We needed a place to stay after a show at The Picturedrome and The Red Lion did what we wanted. Our room was clean and what it had worked. It's roadside Inn not a Spa resort and should be viewed as such. We would have no hesitation staying there again. Breakfast was generous in portion and the licensee is a very nice chap.

Review 12:If you want to stay in squatter facilities the this is the place for you. Shared bathroom- disgusting- dirty, taped flooring/ pubic hair in the bath/ dirty old toilet. Bedroom- bedding dishevelled and appeared previously slept in - body creases on sheets Kitchen- should be reported to the Local Environmental Health Department

Review 13:No bad experiece But when we left .No landlord everything locked up except the fire escape door to leave. The room where we had breakfast was a bit gloomy . Make it Pink

Review 14:Very friendly Landlord

Review 15:We had room 2 were there a made up step to the shower, and a loose handrail on steep steps, stained wallpaper behind bed floor not vacuumed properly

Review 19:Just a few niggles that need updating. But nothing to ruin my stay or anything. My T.V didn't work but the free wifi made up for that and I wasn't really in enough to watch T.V

Review 20:Most comfy bed ever. Dave the landlord is very friendly and welcoming. If your looking for a five star hilton this isn't it. What it is, a comfy place to rest your head after a long day in the fresh air.

Overriding smell of dogs, smoke and stale beer which permeated everywhere.

Review 38:Live music Cheap prices (room and drinks) Secure Friendly Staff Comforatable Great location for walks etc. Nice garden for BBQ's

Review 39:The room was poor really and the bathroom dirty. Parking on road outside on a tricky bend less than ideal. Music and talking in the bar below until 3am..in the morning!! Breakfast....just arrived....no choice given....was ok but had been mostly prepared ahead of us sitting down and was on the luke warm side. Certainly could not recommend.

Review 41:For us there was nothing not to like. The bedrooms could do with a decoration but this was unimportant to us though it may be an issue for others.
