Reviews for Comfort Inn Ramsgate
Review 1:Room over bearing hot as must be some boiler system underneath. Lack of power points, tired and dirty decor. Area behind secondary glazing was full of mildew and flaked paintwork. Rooms very overpriced probably as so few to choose from now. Checked in late evening, receptionist poor welcome, lacked warmth and no smile
Review 2:Worth upgrading for cooked breakfast, day staff was very good
Review 3:I lived in Comfort Inn Ramsgate Hotel on 11/12/2015-12/12/2015,but that day was my bad day,let me tell you why and what was my feelings that time: 1.Very dirty. After my arguments,I was changed to room 312 from 201.When I went upstairs to the third floor,It was just in maintenance,There was gathered dust all over the place and raising dust in whole sky , and the walls seemed to have some skin disease , and there's no one on whole floor but the dim light and a black open door as if the ghosts would be coming, and the air was filled with some chemical fumes,I had to run through the passage without exhaling into the room door of 312.After in the 312,I found that the furnitures also seemed to have some skin disease and the bath towels provided by Comfort Inn Ramsgate hotel could dropped some white dust and the stronger smell made me cough again and again,So I rushed out the door, when passing the black open door , I saw those bath towels and other articles for the third floor were mixed with the decorating tools and materials and dusty liquid in several buckets with a chemical smell without management or being locked, I had to take some pictures for this. And just at this time, the workers began to decorate with those sand papers to polish the walls in so sharp sounds and dropping or floating white dust, they had to cover the noses and mouths with a white towel. So I went downstairs to the reception to ask the manager to change another room to live, because I first took my son only in 7 year to the hotel not only myself. 2.Cheating foreign strangers.
Review 4:Very hot in the corridors. I didn't know Ramsgate and came with elderly people who couldn't walk far so I haven't given it a high mark for location, but in the summer for a person with no mobility issues it would be fine.
Review 5:Food was plentiful and well cooked, breakfasts were really excellent
Review 6:Arrogant staff and poor service. room service has an additional chargeif you use it. My room had a mains water pipe running through it so everything someone used a tap you could constantly hear it.
Review 7:Not a lot
Review 8:Sofa bed for children was not made up and we had to request for that to be done. No towels supplied for the children. Obviously forgot it was a family booking
Review 9:i was in room 306. there is no double gazing, there appears to be a boiler room directly below which was a racket all night and i didn't get any sleep.
Review 10:it has a gym, the room is clean, the staff very helpful but the lack of sleep due to the noise overshadowed everything.
Review 11:Nothing bad to report, just would suggest they upgraded their breakfast to full English instead of Continental included, like other Hoteliers
Review 12:Plenty of towels and pillows. Everything clean and crisp.
Review 13:The room was shabby, the upholstery was worn on the sofa and armchairs, The decor was dated and the room smelled. We were really not impressed that we had to pay £90 to stay somewhere as shabby as this. The bar downstairs was without atmosphere and was dated as well.
Review 14:The sea view was nice. The new carpets were good, the room was large.
Review 15:Hotel was very hot but not a real issue as air con in the room.
Review 16:Stayed with my mother(79) Asked for and got a room with a walk in shower. Friendly, helpful staff. Very nice breakfast.
Review 17:Room located above external air con units, therefore loud. Arrived back after night out, had to wait five minutes before someone answered the door. Did not realise the breakfast was only continental. After being moved to new room where I did not feel comfortable, I decided not to stay and left for home.
Review 18:Well located for purpose of my visit
Review 19:Rooms very hot but did have air con, pillows a little to from for us and dining room was below us so could hear them hoovering & setting out tables for breakfast at 7am on Sunday morning!
Review 20:Stayed in Harbour suite- very nice view with an enclosed balcony as an extra.
Review 21:N/a
Review 22:I loved this hotel, I thoroughly enjoyed the spa treatments, the restaurant dinner and the room. Was real value for money, so much so i booked my next stay already.
Review 23:Needs decorating badly (it appears to have been badly decorated .... some time in the mid 90's).
Review 24:Initial room was unbearably hot, airconmomly seemed to blow warm air. Mercifully they moved us and told us 'all the rooms in the 3rd floor can get a bit hot'.
Review 25:the smelly extractor at the back did not affect us but would not like to have stayed in a room at the back
Review 26:we liked everything all the staff were friendly and very helpful and there was always somebody available,we stayed at the front in a 4 poster room the view was excellent, the food in the bar was very good and reasonably priced could not fault anything about the hotel
Review 27:Room maintenance could have been better. Bathroom extractor fan not working, shaving light over sink not working, toilet roll holder, fell off wall. We were only staying two nights so were not too bothered, any longer we would have tried to get it sorted out.
Review 28:Friendly staff, bar area, parking. Prices of food, there was a good menu with good quality food.
Review 29:Only problem in room was the position of the TV on the wall which was awkward to view
Review 30:The hotel staff were really friendly especially lovely Jodie in the restaurant / bar area who was very polite and accommodating as well as being very chatty and great personality. The room was lovely with an unexpected 4 poster bed and great facilities
Review 31:We were not so happy with the dining arrangements and felt the food was not very well presented. We woul;d prefer to help ourselves from serving dishes rather than having huge piles of food on our plates
Review 32:we loved the location and the lovely spacious comfortable room
Review 33:very small car park, but there are free parking bays in surrounding rds, every thing looked clean but well used rooms not very sound proof, could hear next doors tv!! (but still quiter than average caravan !)and curtains only just coverd windows, but had good sleep & didnt pay the earth so all easily put up with
Review 34:large corner room(312)3 windows looking over sea &up prom, large tv, big bed,tea making, nice bathroom (hotel just across rd from theatre), big tv's in bar& the restraunt was very good value, plenty of food at continental breakfast, boiled eggs etc(big full english £5extra) all in all a well used but comfy hotel sort of place used by coach tours, etc
Review 35:Corridors and stairwells were dark, keycard was temperamental, bar area smelt unpleasant
Review 36:The room itself was spotlessly clean, and the food was reasonably priced
Review 37:Nothing.
Review 38:Very friendly staff, nice and quiet accept for noisy neighbour who would not stop talking from 6am. View was great, parking easy. Nice walk into town, very close to Broadstairs and Margate The food was of a good quality with variety of choices.
Review 39:Location. Spacious room. Huge portions of food. Varied menu.Food is excellent. Staff couldn't be more helpful. Calm atmosphere. Lots of locals use the bar, watch sport, eat in the bar. Has gym and a beauty salon.
Review 40:Room was not clean, bed uncomfortable, this was a nice hotel at one point but is desperate for some money to be spent on it lots of cost cutting apparent yet still chat ge a premium price £99 per night breakfast was continental although did not state this at booking stage so cooked breakfast was a supplement
Review 41:Food generally good value
Review 42:The high-ceilinged room and the generous breakfast ("Continental" hardly does justice to it with all the fresh fruit, cuts of ham, boiled eggs etc. that were on offer).
Review 43:The position of the TV is poor as vision blocked by posts on bed . Unable to draw curtains properly as in parts had come off rings Staff need more confidence and customer relations skills .
Review 44:Our room was lovely . Stunning feature bed .
Review 45:The outside of the hotel is diabolical. The outside! The paintwork is awful and looks really scruffy. Nearly didn't stay. The breakfast was also something to behold. Mouldy fruit on the counter, things not replenished, no glasses or cups etc.
Review 46:Location
Review 47:This was our third visit all booked through booking.com. On the two previous occasions we had rooms on the front of the hotel which were much bigger and more comfortable. This was a disappointment.
Review 48:Seemed a bit over priced.
Review 49:The staff were very helpful and when our air con kept making noise throughout the night, they promptly changed our room. Breakfast was very good with lots of variety and the room was roomy and clean. Good location only a fine minute walk to the centre of town
Review 50:Staff were sometimes hard to find in reception n bar area but as wedding going on i think they were pretty busy trying to be everywhere! Slightly pricey for a not terribly modern decor hotel but it was clean n comfortable. Breakfast was annoying as kept running out of food as staff took away nearly empty plates to re fill rather than just stocking up, and had to ask for more plates as they had run out, and butter was too solid to spread!
Review 51:Had a roast dinner in bar and food was really good :) Hotel had all home comforts ie wi fi ( although kept cutting out) Coffee n tea in room and a bath. Had a lovely side view of sea which we werent expecting :)
Review 52:Make sure when busy preparing function room in a evening, at least have one staff member to be in bar constantly.
Review 53:Friendly welcoming staff, location, food, free hot chocolate sachet & biscuits in room. Rooms cleaned to high standard.
Review 54:Breakfast choice limited, room tired and not particularly clean - needs new carpets, furniture and new bathroom units
Review 55:Staff were good, and location/parking was good, shower was excellent. Booked it as it had a gym, but as it went the weather was fine so ran outside in the end so can't comment on how good the gym facilities were (looked fine at a glance though)
Review 56:Having to pay for a cooked breckfast.Allthough it was value for money
Review 57:The Meals we in the afternoon was value for money. The drinks was okay accept for the vodka and lemonade £3.50 the rooms was clean although basic
Review 58:The continental breakfast was ok...could be better.
Review 59:Great location right on the seafront. Lovely big family room with balcony. Had a gym with lots of modern equipment.
Review 60:Room was rather stuffy and as window did not fully open very little breeze could be had.
Review 61:The hotel was very smart, clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 62:Beds a little uncomfortable.
Review 63:Location brilliant. Great sea views though not all rooms as expected. Receptionist very attentive when we had a problem to sort out. Plenty to choose from at breakfast. Cooked breakfast a little extra but good value.
Review 64:There was nothing to complain about.
Review 65:Cooked-to-order breakfast, much better than the usual lukewarm buffet provided by other hotels. Very pleasant staff, and good value meals.
Review 66:My bed wasn't your fault no twin rooms available my bed was the sofa in a family room the room itself was first class very spacious and lovely view
Review 67:Just had a really relaxing week
Review 68:It wasn't the Hotel's fault, but very loud noise from a concert nearby went on till midnight.
Review 69:Friendly and helpful staff. We wanted to change rooms and they did, but the second room was more inconvenient and noisy than the first, so we went back to the first one. The staff also helped me with the Wi-Fi on my tablet. My first steak was overcooked but the second one was delicious.
Review 70:I stayed in this hotel in August when I was attending a friend wedding. As I was driving down to the hotel in I received a call from the duty manger at the hotel saying that my card has been declined. I apologised for that and said that I am driving, but should be at the hotel within the next 2 hrs and I will sort the payment when I get there. To my surprise the duty manager said that she need the payment now otherwise the booking will be cancelled by 1:30pm. I tried to explain again that I am driving and I will sort the payment when I get there. The duty manager said " I am sorry it is our policy and nothing I can do about it". I had to take my wallet out while driving at 70mph and go through the payment process to avoid sleeping in the street that night. What a high quality customer service. !
Review 71:The air conditioning didn't work, instead it only produced more heat.... We went to eat at the restaurant in the evening and were told that we couldn't sit in he window seat, although no one sat there the whole night, and when we tried to order they told us that we couldn't order what we wanted in the restaurant (fish and chips) . They made us get up and go sit in the bar (which was right next to it) and then didn't even look at us for another 15 mins. When I managed to flag her down, she told me I had to order at the bar.... Just terrible service.
Review 72:Being put in a room with A/C unit broken and a few feet above very noisy extractor fans. I was awake most of night. Allocation of tables unnecessary and irritating. Room 214 is a torture chamber if you have good hearing. One of the women staff at reception farted and I blamed the boys. It was definitely one of the staff. Ramsgate cabbage.
Review 73:Being relocated to vastly superior room by manager, who appreciated my blasphemous feedback. Food portions mountainous. Was able to subdivide one meal between two hungry grandsons.
Review 74:The room, (4th floor) was very hot and the aircon didn't work. The coffee machine at breakfast didn't work, I wanted a latte, but it was black. I had to ask for glasses for the fruit juice, when they arrived they were red hot from the dishwasher. I had to ask for coffee cups as well. No one had checked that the coffee maching was working.
Review 75:The room was pleasant and clean. The view was lovely. I could park in the hotel's car park.
Review 76:Reception was particularly helpful to us on severals occasions. Needed breakfast earlier than your weekend norm, room service Sat. and chef laid out continental early for Sunday, thanks.
Review 77:Did not clean the room and fill up stuff e.g. toilet paper. I had to go to reception 2 in the morning to ask for toilet paper because no one answered the phone!
Review 78:Very disappointed with the bed mattress - very springy and uncomfortable - replace the mattress with a firm pocket spring Bathroom adequate but could be refurbished
Review 79:The staff were extremely helpful and friendly The room itself was a good size and shape and facilities such as wi fi and TV sitting area excellent Great location
Review 80:The imposing building stands proud on the cliff with superb views. It's a lovely walk to the harbour. The room was a good size with excellent views.
Review 81:A very tired hotel in need of complete update. The bed was cheap and nasty and completely worn out, a most uncomfortable night! The TV and Wifi code did not work, the air conditioning unit rattled and clanked and the bathroom was not clean - the toilet was very dirty!! The bathroom window was plain glass and only a light net curtain used, as the room is overlooked this is unacceptable. Perhaps the most worrying point was the fact that the reception was left unmanned for long periods whilst duty staff cooked thier evening meals, this means that anyone can wander into the bedroom areas unchallenged, an unacceptable security situation which must exclude this hotel from use by loan females or the vulnerable. There is a systemic failing in staff training and service, the breakfast was very basic and a significant surcharge was added for a cooked breakfast- my advice - use a different hotel and a top tip is taxies are very cheap in this area so don't be put off from staying a little further outside Ramsgate.
Review 82:Other than a sea front area not much to like about this hotel
Review 83:I was travelling with my sister and we wanted a bed each, and both being used to double beds I stated preference of double bed and sofa bed. The sofa bed as it turns out was not suitable for an adult and not very comfortable.
Review 84:Wonderful view. Room was clean and staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Review 85:look out for room 400 it gets very hot as it over the kitchen. once the house keeper showed us how to set the a/c in the room thing go better having to pay extra for a cooked breakfast. .
Review 86:as we stayed 4 night we had nice large bedroom which was all nice and clean. food in the bar very good . liked the out of town hotel as it was a nice walk to the town centre
Review 87:The continental breakfast was awful, the room hadn't been cleaned as there was dust everywhere and the inside of the building was tired and dated
Review 88:The room was well presented and the view was lovely. The only major plus point of this hotel is the location
Review 89:Difficulty trying to get in the room with the key and the continental breakfast runs out unless you are down really early, not replenished even on request
Review 90:Friendly staff
Review 91:Bathroom shower rather dangerous. No grips or mat inside bath. Could have had a serious accident i.e, slippage. Also room was very warm, even hot.
Review 92:Comfortable bed, large TV, clean and quiet.
Review 93:Bins should have been emptied daily. There should have been a member of staff competent to show guests how to use the gym equipment - some of it could have caused injury eg inability to adjust seat heights. The air con. unit appeared to be next to my room, and made a noise from 06.30 to near midnight - making it impossible to open a window and hear the TV at the same time.
Review 94:It was good that there was a gym. The hotel was comfortable enough. The location is very good
Review 95:room was hot.
Review 96:good location, easy walk to town, beach(via lift) or slope/steps. Lovely sand Busy town, market was on Friday, handy for trips out - Broadstairs, Margate etc . Good size bathroom comfortable beds
Review 97:Fantastic spacious suite with sea view from a beautiful enclosed balcony. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. All the staff were very friendly, welcoming and very helpful. One of our group had a single room which was also spacious and comfortable. Highly recommended !
Review 98:The hotel from the outside looked very grubby and worn. The rooms were very dated with old fashioned furniture. Although the room and the bathroom were clean things could have been better. Cracked tiles, grout missing from floor tiles and a mirror that only a 3ft person would be able to see into the toilet roll holder was broken.and needed silicone around the bath. The hallways were very hot and stuffy,
Review 99:It was a nice location, walking distance of the town. Food was good value for money.Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 100:Where to start? The beds were the worst I have ever paid to sleep on, the curtains are too small for the windows so light streams in from dawn. The shower in our room didn't work at all so had to use one in a vacant single room down the hall.
Review 101:We liked the cleanliness of the bathroom, views from the window and that there was food available on site when we arrived.
Review 102:Staff generally reluctant to help - easy to resolve issues like being missed off breakfast list not resolved at first point of contact. Bathroom aged, shower only good for short people who didn't want to get very wet.
Review 103:Great view
Review 104:Continental Breakfast non existant. There were no plates. The Toaster had burnt out. The coffee machine was not working. The cheese & meat platter was empty. The ensuite in our room was very shabby. (corner of bath all cracked up.seal round bath dirty and lifting.basin plug all brown.Outside of Hotel all peeling paintwork so knew we were in for a disappointing stay. We did get a full refund of the charge for the continental breakfast and an admission from the Manager that is was a complete disaster. We think the whole place needs to be closed and refurbished and staff training needs to be updated. My ploughmans platter the previous afternoon had stale cheese and was also not up to standard.
Review 105:going to sleep
Review 106:Needs Air Conditioning to work properly/well throughout whole hotel, was too warm in room and dining area.
Review 107:The room was huge and the beds were lovely, the view was amazing too.
Review 108:The bed was creaky.
Review 109:Lovely continental breakfast with plenty of variety and a chef who enjoyed providing fresh juices every day. Our favorite was the melon and kiwi. Stunning room considering we booked at lunchtime.
Review 110:Our bedroom floor sloped (as many do in older hotels), and our bed was rather "saggy". The two combined to give a poor night's sleep. Inclined to accept that this was just "bad luck".
Review 111:Hotel was clean, had good facilities and friendly helpful staff. A pleasant 20 minute downhill walk into Ramsgate. Would certainly use this hotel again.
Review 112:Uncomfortable Bed, windows don't open .bathroom fans don't work and continental breakfast very sparse.in its current state overpriced .
Review 113:For such and expensive room we we're disappointed that a full english breakfast was not included in the price
Review 114:The bedroom was clean and comfortable The staff were very helpful and friendly
Review 115:Being locked out at 6.15am (bell didn't work), not able to get a drink on Sunday at 11pm (draconian), cheap duvet and pillows, room extremely warm, heating off but unable to open window.
Review 116:Lady at check in, bar staff, sea view
Review 117:2nd stay had no single rooms and the double room was not up to the standard of the single room and the cost of the room was a lot more expensive
Review 118:As a single occupier in a single room was very good value
Review 119:Our room was on 2nd floor above kitchen, extractor fans going all the time, night and day...the room was very hot 24C. Had to keep putting air conditioning on. Room 206.
Review 120:Room was nice and clean also bedding clean.
Review 121:Poor wifi and no soap in bathroom. Bathroom was very clean and spacious though.
Review 122:Room was spacious and comfortable with a lovely sea view. Very friendly staff throughout the hotel and bar. Good value bar menu.
Review 123:My room had no kettle or hair dryer.
Review 124:The food was surprisingly good. I thought it would be chain food quality, but it was actually very good quality. The buffet breakfast was fresh & plentiful with nice ingredients. My roast dinner was delicious. My room had issues, which were not acceptable & I made this known. Karen the acting manager dealt with this appropriately & said the matters would be brought to attention. The hotel is obviously older & in need of some refurbishment - but aren't so many of them? For the price I paid on a Saturday night, this is quite good value.
Review 125:Hotel was very dated, holes in the bedding and generally not very clean.
Review 126:The staff were friendly and helpful, easy to book, good location and found with ease.
Review 127:Breakfast ordinary
Review 128:I am in a wheelchair but the booking agency did not allow for this, slough and my room was down a flight of steps. The staff found me another room with free upgrade
Review 129:In the restaurant I asked if I could have side salad with an omelette in stead of chips and peas (willing to pay additional cost) The barman enquired at the kitchen and I was informed they could not do this. As salads are on the menu I struggle to understand why this was not possible. I therefore took my custom elsewhere.
Review 130:Use of the gym
Review 131:Water system continuously rumbling and banging throughout night, fourth floor room was very hot and A/C did little to cool it.
Review 132:Good seafront location
Review 133:Nothing
Review 134:The excellent suite had wonderful views over the sea, with a lovely enclosed balcony area with a table and chairs, where you could sit by the large open windows, and enjoy the sea breezes and your cup of tea...
Review 135:Breakfast very basic. No obvious indication of car park.
Review 136:Arrived late, so difficult for the staff but they sorted us out. Mate with a last minute injury sorted by a change of room. Good staff.
Review 137:Bathroom has no heating- very cold during a winter stay! Price was reasonable but terrible view ( we were told it wasn't sea view) and would have liked cooked breakfast included for the price
Review 138:Room was clean and spacious
The Fine Print
The hotel elevator goes to all main floors, although some rooms are not accessible by elevator.Cribs are available free of charge in family rooms.
