Reviews for The Welcome Inn Rotherham/Sheffield
Review 1:Only gripe I had with the place was that I had left the sign provided in the room asking for a clean of our room on the door as we needed fresh towels for when we had a shower the next day and after we got back that night there wasn't any new towels.
Review 2:I liked the simplicity it offered, for the money I was willing to pay and the length of stay I had in Sheffield it was perfect and I thought the staff were very sociable and provided good service to me and my friend especially when giving us advice on how to reach the motorpoint arena. I also liked the size of the rooms which provided loads of space and the bathrooms are very nice. People should also know there is a bowling alley and carvery next door and you can't go wrong there ;) Definately recommend.
Review 3:Carpets and noise from late night visitors also staying at the welcome inn
Review 4:Location excellent from M1 and Meadowhall...great clean and comfortable and free car parking . excellent facilities nearby and local pub for meals etc
Review 5:This hotel is now in need of refreshing. Tired decoration. Furniture trims loose /missing. Shower base with signs of mould.
Review 6:Location close to family we were visiting
Review 7:Website was a bit misleading. Looked like part of a health complex withbar and pool. That was all next door and nothing to do with the hotel.Overall appearance was a bit shabby. Room was adequate though.
Review 8:Location
Review 9:For some reason I was given a room with disabled seated shower type wet room.
Review 10:Room was fantastic Staff very friendly and helpful Location next to Super Bowl and Carvery
Review 11:We didn't like the fact that there wasn't a bar or restaurant at the hotel, for the price we paid there wasn't that many facilities.
Review 12:Nice large bathroom, clean spacious room and comfy beds.
Review 13:No on site hot breakfast available! You can order continental but not the same as having full english!
Review 14:Nice friendly hotel. Facilities is modern but basic. Excellent value for money. Very clean/functional. If u need comfortable no frills place to sleep on budget then this is perfect! There is a gym & bowling alley next door plus carvery that serves up breakfast for £3.99 from 8am.
Review 15:The bathroom smelt a little musty. The beds were basic. The corridors were freezing cold when coming and going so not good when it's cold outside already.
Review 16:The room was ok for a few nights.
Review 17:I stayed with a friend and we both said how clean and value for money this hotel was, Joanne was the staff member that was working on reception when we checked in and checked out, she made us feel very welcome and she helped us with everything we asked for. Overall accommodation and customer service was great.
Review 18:Room was little bit run down in areas but nothing that bad at all.Carpet worn a bit, curtain pole loose and coming off the wall slightlybut being very picky to say the least. Would definitely stay again.
Review 19:Location, quiet, quick check in, spacious room, clean, cosy, shower wasvery good and value for money.
Review 20:Little further out of town than I thought but handy for motorway
Review 21:Staff were friendly and thought the bedroom and bathroom were really spacious. Enjoyed use if oasis facilities. The free wifi is good too.
Review 22:Overall exterior look, underwhelming lobby with coin machine at entrance, rumour that the car park needed to be paid separately at a machine?! (we didn't - too tired, went to bed)
Review 23:Awesome room for the price!!! REALLY nice, (two double beds, like in America!) - potentially better than PremierInn for a better price. Good receptionist that night!
Review 24:Would have been nice to have a bar on site but there's a pub/carvery next door.
Review 25:The staff were very helpful and friendly. Gym and pool next door for a small fee.
Review 26:Dirty in the halls first impressions not good and the only thing good about our room was the size. Not happy we weren't on ground floor having two small children
Review 27:Only serve to continental breakfast
Review 28:The staff working on front desk very friendly very helpful I think tThe young ladies name was Tina on the front desk
Review 29:Only addition I think useful would be a better choice in the Reception Vending machine, less chocolate and more snack items ?
Review 30:Cleanliness, room facilities, helpful staff, just the type of stay I totally enjoy
Review 31:Excellent customer service, the staff were very approachable and helpful above what I would expect. Quiet location. For us the location was very near our relatives. Having the Oasis pool and 'Drawbridge pub nearby (cheap and filling meals) was a bonus.
Review 32:No bar
Review 33:Staff could not help out enough, there was a group of us staying for a boxing show up the road, my son left his phone in his room and they even contacted me and will be sending the phone back to us
Review 34:You have to go to the pub across the road for a hot breakfast.
Review 35:The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Tina who posted my charger back to me speedily and in her own time. All the staff we spoke to were great. Room was adequate for what is after all a budget hotel.
Review 36:No bath. It was misleading to imply that there was a pool & gym as this was in a different venue and cost £5.00 each per session. Views not great & carpets were tired and could do with replacing.
Review 37:Good value, Clean, quiet & close to meadowhall. Easy to find and had everything I needed. Powerful shower in double cubicle and toiletries provided. Have paid double the pirice for much less. Would stay again
Review 38:The bedside table was dirty, the kettle still had previous water and lime scale in it, which I rinsed out several times before I was able to make a cup of tea and there was a damp, musky sort of smell in the room.
Review 39:The shower was a nice size and the water was hot.
Review 40:Bedside light fitting needed attention - not fixed properly to the wall. That's all.
Review 41:Friendly staff, clean and comfortable accommodation. Near to where we wanted to go and 24 hour reception. Quiet and plenty of parking.
Review 42:Staff were unhelpful.beds dirty. Floor not hoovered and shower smelt awful.breakfast was very bad value for money.
Review 43:I didn't like anything there at all and if there had been time to change hotels I would have done .appalling!
Review 44:It was exactly what it advertised to be. Basic but clean and everything we needed. Did not have to ask for coffee/tea milk wifi worked without a hitch. I had made a mistake with the booking and they were extremely good about it smiled and fixed my mistake. All round great experience oh and ample easy parking
Review 45:Unfortunately the bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were very hard. The room was very warm so maybe the existence of air conditioning should be mentioned at the desk when you register. We didn't notice the air con instructions until we were leaving.
Review 46:The girl at the desk was charming and helpful. Free car parking. Room very clean and a wonderful bathroom.
Review 47:The staff were lovely and friendly and very helpful. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw the size of the family room, it was very spacious! My four year old loved having a big bed all to herself. :)
Review 48:We stayed for two nights and booked 5 rooms in total. It was for our sons wedding. There were no facilities. We expected to at least be able to sit and have a drink but there was no were. The only place we could take our grandson for a little run round was a busy car Park. When we booked there was a picture of a bar and swimming pool. But there wasn't this was very misleading. No where anywhere to even get some food. The carpets in the hallway and rooms were filthy. The beds were very un comfortable. There was no air conditioning in our sons room just spaces on the wall where it had been removed. My cousins air conditioning didn't work. We had our room for two nights and there were two sachets of coffee and two tea bags.
Review 49:The staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 50:Nothing
Review 51:My family stayed during the week, hotel was very quiet, the location is excellent. All leisure activities are just a 2 minute walk away and a great restraunt for food.
Review 52:the website pictures do not belong to the hotel, the reception area is a coffee table and a sofa, no bar, nowhere to relax the hotel was situated in a bad area didn't feel comfortable at all
Review 53:nothing
Review 54:N/A
Review 55:Location near Meadowhall (where my coach destination was), taxi company recommended by the hotel was cheap & convenient. The hotel room was exceptional and the en-suite facilities!
Review 56:Excellent value no frills budget hotel, very clean, spacious rooms, excellent en suite, free parking. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that
Review 57:Location certainly not central, we had travelled by train with 3 young children. Not sure why the health club gets mentioned, not part of the hotel, and certainly not Free.
Review 58:Staff very helpful and friendly. We stayed 2 nights, in 3 rooms.
Review 59:Bathroom smelled really damp, and it was way too easy to get the floor wet because of the shower curtain popping out unnoticed when showering. No mat provided so had to use a hand towel to stand on. Found three pubic hairs in the sink, ewww!!! A woodlouse popped out of the hole under the shower tray, which makes me wonder about the state of the wood underneath, that's probably where the damp smell was coming from. We also thought the shower was flooding the side in the bathroom but realised just before leaving that this was actually the tap leaking. Beds were too hard for my husband and I, and we found it hard to sleep in them, but this must be a hard thing for hotels to get right as we all have different needs in mattresses. I'm sure some love a hard bed!
Review 60:Easy parking for a large van in the car park. Large walk in shower, which was lovely, hot and pressurised. We've stayed here twice and would stay again.
Review 61:The hotel and staff were great, exactly what I needed for the purpose of my visit. I phoned the hotel before I arrived to advise them of my dietary requirements and they couldn't do enough for me! Brilliant!
Review 62:The staff are simply lovely. Very helpful and because I stay frequently, had me booked in and all details organised before I got there. If I could nit-pick, I think the hotel could do with a face lift - but I am sure they would agree that as well. The advertisement for the hotel is in the repeat staying: I like it very much.
Review 63:The hotel was very noisy and also the hotel showed leisure faculty sits not until you have booked you see it not at the hotel it's in a different building which you have to pay extra for
Review 64:Great value for money - basic but adequate
Review 65:Difficult to get a receipt - only an invoice TV did not work - though I didn't need it so didn't try to get it fixed
Review 66:The bed we had felt like sleeping on a stone slate and by the time we got back to our room we just wanted to go sleep but ended up tossing and turning all night
Review 67:Parking at the hotel was quite easy and even tho it was close to the main road room was fairly quiet
Review 68:the mattress has seen better days and all the doors slam shut, so it is noisy at certain times
Review 69:Overall decent value for money, good water pressure in the shower but that shower curtain is a pain
Review 70:Everything was good really enjoyed our stay was very clean the family room were a nice big size. Staff were pleasant and helpful and we hope to come back soon
Review 71:Even booking.com says this hotel has an indoor pool they don'T. Theyare just close to a health centre and you have to pay for it.When you read (Children's swim times are restricted.) you need to know children only allowed between 9.30 and 2 pm during weekend. According to receptionist they don't need to be sharp about this phrase. The kettle was rusty and I mean not just a little bit, A LOT.
Review 72:Room was clean
Review 73:I am really upset that they are now charging to use the gym next door - apparently there are more TV channels but I don;t watch TV so that's no good for me
Review 74:I stay here a lot because it's a good location and the staff are lovely.
Review 75:Some hairs found on my bed and in the bathroom which was concerning Heavy limescale inside the kettle, where bits fell off during brewing up.
Review 76:Amazing Gym and Spa facilities at the Oasis next door. Good price for the hotel as a base, basic. Power shower in the room.
Review 77:bathroom shower bad with mould at bottom , extractor fan did,nt work so all steamed up , thought that breakfast was poor for the price so had to find a cafe , no phone in rooms so if a problem and we could,nt get out we would have a problem a chair would have been nice to sit on rather than sit on bed
Review 78:just the fact that it was a clean and decent bed, and somewhere to sit to do make up and hair
Review 79:It's the first place I've stayed where there wasn't shampoo and conditioner, which is fine as it was a budget price. But as it didn't say it wasn't provided, I couldn't wash my hair as I didn't bring my own. A note that it isn't included under what is in the room would be great.
Review 80:The 24 hour reception was good and the room in the shows was lovely. Was also brilliant that there was air con as it was a very warm night
Review 81:The bed was like a brick and the lack of anything but a continental breakfast is very disappointing
Review 82:It's cheap. Access to the huge gym next door with swimming pool is just brilliant
Review 83:It wasn't a bad experience it just wasn't what we expected, I thought the hotel had a swimming pool sauna and bar on site, but when asked at reception where they were, we were told it was all "across the road".
Review 84:Close to motor point arena and free parking.
Review 85:Bed mattress was worn out and the wifi didn't work at all. Bathroom also flooded because the water in the shower was slow to drain.
Review 86:Location was good for where we needed to visit. Room was inexpensive, clean and quiet, and staff were nice.
Review 87:Very uncomfortable bed (no give in base at all) - woke up 6 times in first night and had to swap with son. Free wifi doesn't stretch to all parts of room. Wired internet didn't work.
Review 88:Staff were helpful and sorted out niggles quickly. Room was good size. Spa was very pleasant.
Review 89:Wasn't told about facilities next door Wasn't given Wi-Fi instructions Aircon wasn't functional TV only had a couple of channels Other guests noisy and walls/floor thin
Review 90:Wired internet was fine Was clean Bed was comfy enough Staff were polite Easy to find, close to town
Review 91:The hotel scores very highly in all areas. Friendly helpful staff, spotless rooms. The local pub is fantastic for meals at bargain prices. The only thing that needs to be improved is there is no wifi in the rooms.
Review 92:Purpose of the trip was a leisure/spa weekend, check in at 2, children only allowed to swim until 2.30 and then not again until 9.30am, again checkout at 11am, facilities not on sight
Review 93:Staff were friendly and welcoming
Review 94:TV was old and small for the size of the room (nit picking as the hotel is fab.)
Review 95:Staff couldn't do more for us! Room upgrade on arrival. Good recommendations for places to eat. Bowling alley very close by guest get special rates (the bowling alley is a little shabby!) Use of pool and gym great Rooms tidy, clean great value for money
Review 96:Surrounding buildings look run down and wifi not working.
Review 97:Quiet, large clean room with air con and black out curtains. Friendly staff and comfy beds (firm). Free health club across the car park is very good and child friendly with several saunas, hot tub and pool. Great location 5 min from M1, 10-15 min from Meadowhall/Ice center/Arena. Would not hesitate to stay again.
Review 98:No wifi in my room, so I was unable to contact me husband to tell him that I had arrived safely. I was woken up by noisy guests at 3 am having a loud conversation in the corridor near my room. One other guest told them to be quiet as he was woken up by them too.
Review 99:Super friendly staff, good location and a great price. Very clean rooms!
Review 100:Forgot to tell staff that the shower seal broken so water goes onto the floor. hard bed which makes a noise. Limited TV and wifi.
Review 101:Asked for a quilt and got one when we asked. The cleaners are the best. The front desk staff were very helpful and kind. Thanks you all.
Review 102:sounded like the bathroom fan in the room below me was constantly on throughout the night so woke up to it on the first night
Review 103:Friendly staff, wi fi, free parking, 5 min drive into Rotherham, clean, tidy
Review 104:A simple no frills resting place when on a tight budget or simply sleeping between shifts. The mattress on the bed is shot & the TV had a problem with services, otherwise ok.
Review 105:It felt like a recycled old style travel lodge without the charm and luxury. I could have done without the drunks in the corridor at 0145 but that's not the hotel's fault.
Review 106:bed was hard and curtains let a lot of light through location was a bit out of the way from the local amenities but only a short drive
Review 107:facilities available very good only wish we had more time to make the most of them
Review 108:The heating control stopped working late in the night and the room got quite chilly. Carpet could do with replacing and only about 4 channels on tv...not ideal when travelling with young kids, noisy corridor as right by door on ground floor, kept kids awake
Review 109:Friendly reception staff, clean bedding and bathroom, heated towel rail, being able to use the pool for free
Review 110:the wifi didnt work but that was wasnt anything to worry about.
Review 111:the facilities of the swimming pool and the pub up the road, the food is great, the hotel its self is clean but basic but the beds are comfy.
Review 112:Mention of bar on site should really state that it is next door.
Review 113:It was great that could use the spa next door and the hotel staff even said we could take towels from the room. Staff so efficient and friendly. Better service than a lot of top quality hotels I've dealt with.
Review 114:Very noisy. 2.30 - 3am the whole floormust have been awaken by people singing and shouting for a prelonged period of time. Staff must have been able to hear!!!
Review 115:Dirty towels No information as to how to get onto WIFI TV didn't work Shower was boiling hot Bed wasn't very nice. Had a bad nights sleep
Review 116:Staff were really nice and helpful
Review 117:poor and very dusty room no WiFi in any part of the building!!!!only three channels on t.v. worse than ibis budget
Review 118:Friendly and excellent staff go above and beyond always willing to help 10/10 excellent swimming pool in with the room price
Review 119:Wifi is only at the front desk, beds creak and there were stains on the sheets. Pool next to the hotel is old and overgrown with fungus all over the place, make fun of Polish but dirt in England is greater than in the Polish countryside.
Review 120:Service very nice.
Review 121:Beds very uncomfortable and squeaky. Cold. No covers on bed. When we came out of our room all we could smell was cigarette smoke.
Review 122:Friendly staff. The bedding and towels were clean.
Review 123:Couldn't connect to wifi and the Continental breakfast delivered to room was ok but would of liked more options to choose from
Review 124:Lovely friendly staff on arrival and very helpful. Nice clean room..comfy bed..excellent for a one night stay.
Review 125:Uncomfortable bed and pillows. Not as close to Sheffield arena as we thought. Cost £18 to get there and back. Unable to get taxi straight after concert do had to get bus to Rotherham then taxi to hotel.
Review 126:Room clean and spacious.
Review 127:No problem with anything.
Review 128:Needed accommodation after concert at Sheffield Motorpoint Arena.....ten mins in taxi; no frills but quiet, clean room, comfortable bed and good modern shower room. Inexpensive.
Review 129:Beds were very hard. Noise from road quite loud despite being on top floor. Free wifi is great but we couldn't actually access any of the 6 wifi channels the hotel had
Review 130:Liked the room size of the family room. Shower in bathroom good size too. Free use of gym and pool next door was fabulous.
Review 131:Room was great, bed was ok. kids bed was great. reception lady very helpful. Gym was excellent and my husband and son went swimming, great facilites, all staff very helpful. Would stay again, we just needed room for night so that we didint have to travel home after an evening at the motorpoint arena. check out time 11am superb!
Review 132:Very disappointing on arrival to find reception is just a corridor with vending machines and absolutely no communal area. The definition of an Inn is a pub with rooms - there is no bar. This should be classed as a motel, nothing else. Someone else's dirty socks behind the bed was not good.
Review 133:The link to the health club next door for swimming was very good but was not given clear instructions where it was or how to get there. We drove to find the car park and entrance and had to walk down three flights of stairs with two toddlers, only to find we could have got in round the corner from the hotel and only climbed four steps.
Review 134:Problem with breakfast at the hotel (nearby pub was recommended instead). Doors shutting in a loud manner (although locking mechanism was reliable).
Review 135:Cleaneless level, quiet area.
