Reviews for Spencer Court
Review 1:Hot water tap in room broken, Velux window broken and would not close. Shared toilet covered in wee. Shared shower floor soaked and matt on floor water logged saturated. Next to wee covered toilet so felt a bit queezy and seriously consider taking a wee in the room sink instead (didn't though). Possibly used by builders in winter hence wee on toilet not in it. On street parking
Review 2:Nice helpful lady, easy to get to, good location, easy to get to town, marina, beach etc, very good breakfast, sea view as room was attic. Bed was comfortable and I slept very well. Room well equipped with kettle and TV. Good value for money. Excellent kettle which I used to make hot water for a shave. Artistic fag end sculptures on roof outside window and outside front door.
Review 3:Extremely dirty room/shower/toilet. The shower doesn't work properly with too hot or too cold water. Uncomfortable old mattress. We had to phone and wait for someone to bring the room keys over ten minutes (@ 2 pm check-in) as there is no permanent reception.
Review 4:Decent breakfast even though one morning the mushrooms weren't cleaned from soil, the paper table cloth were dirty and one morning I had to wait a longer time as someone arrived after me was served before me.
Review 5:The shower room was dirty and toilet seat was on the floor. The hotel is too old and dated, is not good value for your money.
Review 6:The breakfast and Internet connection
Review 7:No hot water.Very thin pillows.Decor was "tired" but at least clean.Staff polite but thats all.Should have asked for front window.
Review 8:Location was perfect for us to visit Harbour and see lovely historical buildings.Breakfast was very generous.Good value for money.
Review 9:No heating, freezing cold!
Review 10:Breakfast was excellent, although they did not supply brown toast. I don't consider that to be an extraordinary request.
Review 11:Bathroom broken celling, brown stains everywhere, filthy floor, filthy shower, filthy toilet, no loo roll, bed not made, after one night , cups not cleaned management not contactable had to take toilet roll from another bathroom, pile of cigarette ends, beer bottles, broken light left on balcony, could not close bathroom door which had no lock. Hair dryer only available if you can find management and request. Dinning room, dirty floor and chairs.
Review 12:Had a view of the sea, saw foxes in the square. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was nice.
Review 13:No Hot Water from bathroom sink tap. Toilet coming loose from floor. Armchair in room could not use as both front legs were broken. Carpet was covered in hair.
Review 14:Good location. Cosy feeling little B&B. Good full English Breakfast. Near to Ramsgate town. Sea within walking distance. Free WiFi :D
Review 15:Felt like bedroom was half of a loft conversion with views of the backyard .Didn't like the see through toilet door and didn't use shower as kept getting dangerously hot.
Review 16:Good location nice setting from outside.Freindly staff and hearty breakfast.
Review 17:For the price of rooms with a full cooked or choice of breakfast, it would be harsh to comment on any negativity for Spencer Court..simple furnishings, clean rooms...and if its just to get a bed for a few nights..this is excellent value for money in Ramsgate
Review 18:The hotel was ideally placed for all nearby shops and bars plus views out to sea. Parking was hit and miss but always found a spot around the square where the hotel was situated. Do have the breakfast which is included in room rates, Jane does a lovely Full English !!
Review 19:Dirty glasses and cups in room. Hair in the bed. Cobwebs and dust in room. Breakfast table and floor was sticky Was not given info regarding wi fi
Review 20:The outside square and Ramsgate The sea view The lounge
Review 21:Dated decor and fittings; broken chair leg in room; cramped bedroom; basement breakfast room, cramped and airless; 'downbeat' welcome from host.
Review 22:located close to seafront; set around a pleasant public square; only 10 min drive to our event;
Review 23:mat wet in shower room because there is a water leak on the cistern water pipe.
Review 24:Excellent breakfast, though time span could be increased by starting 30 minutes earlier.
Review 25:Service on second day poor. Lady was having a bad day and it showed in the cooked breakfast. The shower room wasn't very clean and the family room was squashed for myself and the two girls
Review 26:No sachies of sugar or coffee left no bin emptied we stayed for two nights .Bad reception on small TV had to turn it off second night.
Review 27:Breakfast was good.
Review 28:Beds where not to great, could hear people in surrounding rooms, toilet didn't flush to sell, shower was hot and cold, breakfast was really oliy
Review 29:The location was good
Review 30:Changing of one of our rooms from a twin to a double without our knowledge till we arrived and they took the money from card without consent
Review 31:The en suite
Review 32:Although it was advertised, there was no wifi for Internet in the upper levels. So you had to go downstairs to the common room if you wanted to use your computer.
Review 33:The manager was great. She fixed a terrific breakfast every morning and worked very hard to meet all our needs.
Review 34:Original room had been flooded and the owner offered it to us with£20 off. It stunk . looked behind the bed in room .disgusting . Hadntbeen cleaned
Review 35:The breakfast was good
Review 36:Room was adequate, window hook broken so kept banging during night. As I need circulation of air had to keep it open. Wire for tv bit dodgey as crackled when moved. Floor could do with bit more hovering.
Review 37:Was ok for the emergency booking that I needed. Breakfast was good which was included in price.
Review 38:Toilet didn't flush properly Bedding old/dated and towels old also the valance on bottom of bed was rotten..property a little dated.
Review 39:Quite friendly staff. Nice location ok for one night.About ten minutes walk to town quiet location.
Review 40:overall disappointed. greeted by plant pot full of cigarette butts at the door. smelt foisty in the b&b overall & parents room was not made up on arrival at 6pm. two communal bathrooms did not have toilet paper. proprietor was aware we needed to leave at 8.30 to catch ferry but kept breakfast door locked until 8.00 and we were unable to even go down for coffee while we waited. it said free parking but there was no parking at all & we ended up 3 streets away & the owner was very abrupt & surly and had a stand up row with the kitchen staff while we sat in next room having breakfast with 2 young children. to be honest we could have overlooked a lot if the owner had been nicer. not happy at all.
Review 41:breakfast was good & bed was clean but rest of the standard was very poor
Review 42:Everything is perfect in this B&B Hotel, people who work there, rooms, atmosphere and location is very easy to find . Thank you, Chris! I'd love to come back!
Review 43:The breakfast was downstairs but I managed. Decor needs uplifting. Due to being an old building there was some noise from above.
Review 44:the room was very nice with the on suite. They were very accomodating as I have problems with stairs. Breakfast was excellent
Review 45:Room was tired, not cleaned properly, no lock on window, toilet wouldnot flush properly, Windows dirty, carpet worn and faded and notvacuumed during entire 4night stay, towels not changed during stay andthe window rattled when the wind blew or when a door was opened orclosed. Cannot blame the one member of staff entirely, she had a lt todo in a full hotel and tempers were frayed towards the end of the stay. The owner was on holiday, it would be best for everyone if hedidn't return.
Review 46:Breakfast was ok, only one member of staff on duty for entire property.
Review 47:Poor and shabby décor throughout, bathroom mat had brown stains on it.
Review 48:Upgraded to double ensuite room at no extra cost. Made very welcome and English breakfast was good.
Review 49:No toilet paper .the toilet/shower room door wouldnt close and being it was a glass folding door i didnt want to force it .very dusty and dated .
Review 50:The location was very good for our purpose and needs
Review 51:My floor level bathroom was being refurbished and the other bathrooms were tiny and claustrophobic to me. I spent as little time in them as possible. However, the owner refunded part of my money because of the refurbishment issue
Review 52:Good food, good location, lots of drawers, a sink and kettle in the room and friendly staff. I would stay there again if I could have access to a bigger bathroom
Review 53:cleanliness skirting's in all areas filthy especially in toilet carpet smelt of urine in toilet , top of wardrobe very dusty along with top of curtain frame, no toilet rolls in any of the bathrooms had to wait until morning and ask for them, dining area dirty table cloths and place matts salt and pepper pots were sticky and hadn't been cleaned for a while, I was in room 5 and the lock on the door was loose and screws hanging out. my sink was blocked and outer window didn't shut properly, staff on sunday morning were polite, staff Saturday morning did nothing but moan and slam breakfast down in front of you, I understand the owners were abroad
Review 54:location and welcome
Review 55:No en suite. Had to share toilet and shower room with another. Highly inconvenient. Towels not changed dispute being there 3 nights and 4 days. Toilet rolls not checked or changed even when very low. Bed linen stained. Couldn't get hot water for shower or washing. Door on bedroom would not open or shut without a kick or shove. Headboard not attached to bed so kept banging against wall. Drawer handles missing on furniture. Generally very shoddy.
Review 56:Breakfast was cooked well and fresh. Wi - fi was good from my room but not for others. Television had a good reception. Bed was comfortable.
Review 57:Booked a twin room with bathroom facilities as we are two matured female friends. Stayed in No 3 with a double bed and single bed with an old mattress unsuitable for sleep! Shabby cubicle with shower which needed a good clean up. Television-remote control not working.Only one side lamp-torn.No space to move. Unsuitable as twin room. No soaps or shower gell , one tea one coffee no milk when arrived. None soap or shower gell.
Review 58:Lovely possition near the old town and the sea.Nice clean sheets
Review 59:The room had no windows but a fan was integrated with the main light. When I tried to work it, it was broken so I had no free flow of air in a very stuffy room and it was a hot evening..
Review 60:I was on the ground floor and the room was adequate for a one night stay. The breakfast was freshly cooked and the receptionist or manager was extremely pleasant but she had same clothes on next morning.
Review 61:Got locked in the bathroom, my husband had to use a spoon to get me out. Room dirty and broken cups. We didn't have breakfast as we just wanted to get out.
Review 62:The outlook from the room
Review 63:top floor room .up very steep stairs, hot water not working in room , seperate bathroom and loo on floor below was disgusting , bed on a slant , room needed a good clean , window wouldnt close, wi fi rubbish ...need i go on?
Review 64:clean sheets
Review 65:We arranged an early check-in with the property beforehand, which they agreed to. when we turned up at the discussed time they literally were going to slam the door in our faces. So much for friendliness We did not expect much for the money we have paid but were assuming an average clean room, which was far from what we got. You could fill a cup with the dust on the surfaces. The locker on the door did not work properly and was the first thing they have told us about, after we paid.
Review 66:The breakfast was surprisingly nice and fresh. The area is nice and you could actually make it a nice place but that needs work.
Review 67:The bedroom lock was faulty the bathroom didn't lock properly there was no bar couldn't open the bedroom window staff were not very pleasant
Review 68:The bed was comfy
Review 69:I am a 66 year old male. my room was located in the attic which involved 3 flights of narrow stairs. Bathroom/toilet 1 flight down. Bed on an angle which meant I tended to roll out of bed all night.
Review 70:very uncomfortable bed, no curtains to block the light in order to sleep better, window handle mising. machine to pay with card not working
Review 71:the location, the staff quite friendly
Review 72:Bedding was fresh but bathroom especially next to and behind the toilet was filthy.dining room and lounge and hall ways were grimy..
Review 73:Location was brilliant bit don't rely on parking
Review 74:The owner could have given more attention to the condition of facilities in the room we stayed in such as poor tv signal, difficulty to open & shut toilet door & a cleaner shower area.
Review 75:Breakfast made up for its downside.
Review 76:The hotel was run down and badly in need of a fresh coat of paint and new carpets. There also didn't seem to be enough toilets to go around. The breakfast room was grimy and we should have been given fresh (not canned) mushrooms with our full English for the price we paid. Way overpriced.
Review 77:The sheets were clean, and we were only a block away from the promenade and harbour.
Review 78:External decoration needed. Some refurbishment and decoration to public areas and bathrooms needed. Website advertises free parking but this is street parking which was not available during my stay. Payment in advance was asked for which shows a lack of trust in the client. The TV in the room only worked fitfully!
Review 79:A good cooked breakfast but selection of cereals poor. Serving staff polite and helpful. Good location. The room I had is very small but does have a sea view. .
Review 80:- Misleading & real disappointment to find out that the 'Blue Plate: Van Gogh lived here' was not allocated in this house instead, across the street! I purposely booked a night there with my family only for that reason!- WIFI not working! real - Tiny tiny room. 7 inches space between the beds. My mum couldn't even pass trough. Struggled to leave 3x luggage around… - Overprice at £85, I would pay £60-65.
Review 81:- Friendly staff.- Good & pretty location in the square. - Breakfast was generous :)
Review 82:One bedroom downstairs is has very little natural light and felt airless, and generally the carpeting could do with a change.
Review 83:Lovely views from the upstairs rooms. Good breakfast and good shower
Review 84:This is a cute little B&B with a very friendly (very over-worked)manageress who will try to accommodate anything you need. It'slocation is great for visiting Ramsgate and is just a short walk fromthe harbour and the shops.Having read lots of really damning reports on the place, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. It's warm, friendly and very homely. It's a two crown property though NOT three star as this site states, so that might account for some of the grumblings.
Review 85:We found it ok
Review 86:Lovely landlady , yummy breakfast in lovely set out dining room . You get what you pay for . We would return if visiting again and our little boy loved it . We lost his favourite mr. Froggy teddy and Jan the lovely land lady found him and returned him to our little boy . Lovely large breakfast
Review 87:Dirty toilet and bathroom. No hand soap, shower gel. Left over rubbish in bathroom from previous guests.
Review 88:Clean sheets and towels. Well cooked breakfast.
Review 89:unfriendly almost rude owners, no en suite, breakfast is very poor quality, was afraid to get sick! UKIP posters everywhere in the neighbourhood is a bit scary if you're not english yourself! can be difficult to park,
Review 90:location is amazing, on a beautiful green square and 5 min walk from the sea/center/port !!!
Review 91:Room floor was very dirty. Carpet not cleaned. There were old food pieces and clothes of previous guests. Shower was blocked.
Review 92:Breakfast was nice and they accommodated our requests Friendly staff Beds were neat and presentable
Review 93:The loo did not flush well, low hot water pressure in sink. Scratchy towels
Review 94:Great location with lovely views, comfortable bed. Very clean room and tasty breakfast. Great shower
Review 95:No-one at reception for stated hours. Demand for payment before one had put ones luggage down. Minute ensuite. Difficult parking.
Review 96:Pleasant staff Good breakfast
Review 97:Good location, very friendly owner and staff. Parking might be an issue but we were lucky and parked in frond of the hotel. If we come back to Ramsgate we'll come back here.
Review 98:No teaspoon in bedroom.A jug should be in bathroom to rinse out bath and also a cloth. I had to clean bath out after someone else using my flannel.
Review 99:Bed was clean. Smelt lovely and fresh and was comfortable.
Review 100:Poor cleanliness in out of sight areas and need of repairs to kettle, curtain rail, taps and shower did not work.
Review 101:Clean comfy bed and nice breakfast with helpful staff
Review 102:checked by phone room was on suite but when we arrived offered a shared bathroom we did get a twin with a shower. all the springs on the bed poked out, no hot water from tap in basin. dirty and chipped cups no spoon in room. more of a cheap hostel or bedsit than a seaside b and b.
Review 103:nice hot cooked breakfast
Review 104:Again filthy smelly the toilet flush did not work cleaning was clearly not done...The valance sheet on the bed was filthy.it was a disgusting place I couldn't wait to leave!!
Review 105:Believe you me there was nothing to like filthy smelly.
Review 106:Mattress cheap, not very comfortable. Not ensuite.(only realize it after confirmation, which is a shock)
Review 107:Big breakfast. Attic room quite spacious n gd view. Wi-Fi useful. Location gd. Outside a small park n tennis court. Sense of space n quiet. Cheap.
Review 108:i did not like the radiators being in all night with no way of turning them off so had to sleep with the French doors open so was awake most of the night because of the noise from the harbour. It said free wifi, great, except you couldn't get it in the bedrooms and the TV in the room kept cutting out because of bad signal, now if was paying £20 a night I wouldn't have minded but I paid £50 for a really bad nights sleep with no apology or good will gesture. I wanted to relax and recharge my batteries as I live in London but I felt more miserable after my stay.
Review 109:I liked the fact that it was a short walk to the town, beach and amenities. The room was clean and we had an en suite bathroom much to my daughters pleasure!
Review 110:Bed was not that comfortable. It is a very basic accomodation but good value for money.
Review 111:It is walking distance to the marina but it is located in a quiet area. Nice full english breakfast
Review 112:The cleanliness wasn't great and I was originally put in another room because my booked room had someone in it. The majority of the staff were fairly disinterested and the bed was so old and used it was a nightmare to sleep on.
Review 113:Location, breakfast, one particular member of staff was very accommodating.
Review 114:Bed was hard bathroom toilet was not secure to the floor. The shower unit was leaking from pipe. Tv was small and should have been wall mounted. Also heating in bedroom was not on. The inner bedroom door had broken handle which was sharp. The breakfast room was in basement not ideal if you have some disabilities.
Review 115:Breakfast
Review 116:Shelves all had layers of dust. No drawers for items not for hanging. We booked a twin bedded room but it was a double and a sinvle bed who h made the room crowded.
Review 117:One of the panels in the bathroom ceiling was cracked and broken. Forgot to try wifi.
Review 118:Good food and excellent value for money! Friendly staff and reasonable parking ,
Review 119:It was a very cold night and room not warmed enough on entry like an ice box had to go down to get a small electric heater as radiator needed bleeding as not properly warming up the room, but was alright after that
Review 120:Helpful nice Staff, lovely breakfast
Review 121:We'd be up for breakfast too early, so we got an alternative breakfast to take away. So nice. The breakfasts that we did take were wonderfull. The beds were comfy, the shower had enough waterpresure and was nice and hot.Wifi was good.
Review 122:No flexibility with breakfast times even though. I explained I was running a marathon each day. no offer of anything. no shower in room and communal bathroom was so cold, toilet dirty
Review 123:Good wifi, tea and coffee making facilities in room. was cheap so didn't expect a palace.
Review 124:had a problem with the WiFi....it didn't work all the time in my 2nd floor room...
Review 125:good location with a lovely view of the sea from my front facing room...staff very friendly and courteous...breakfast was well cooked and well presented too
Review 126:The premises really needs a serious make-over from the paint work to the wiring. This is very cheap accommodation so I should have booked a bit more upmarket. The wifi that didn't work well and the pixellated TV were just irritations. Just don't have high expectations!
Review 127:Gary and his colleagues were very friendly and helpful. Located a short walk from the harbour and sea front and easy access to routes in/out of Ramsgate.
Review 128:The room was very comfortable, it was very quiet and the English cooked breakfast was generous and tasty. The owner and his son took good care of us. Thank you.
Review 129:Hot water from sink in room did not run hot.shower worked fine with plenty of hot water.
Review 130:Breakfast was very good with plenty of food available. The person who worked there was very friendly.
Review 131:My room was not ensuite. The decor needed updating.
Review 132:The hotel was very near a bus stop and was an easy walk into the town centre and sea walks. It was on a quiet street.
Review 133:dirty,( bloodprint on the bedsheet),shared bathroom, no towel in there. Wifi doesn't work, not enough table for breakfast. The worst experience ever.
Review 134:Location is allright.
Review 135:Nothing.
Review 136:Good priced room.Cosy double with good decor and very nice shower toilet en suite. Nice big breakfast too. I could park outside easily( get there before 6 I'm told.) Short walk into harbour and sea front. Very good value and I hope to revisit.
Review 137:Early end to breakfast (9,30) and early check-out (10) were not relaxing at the weekend. Bed was squeaky. Decor tired in places.
Review 138:Room was clean and quiet. Bed was comfortable. The property itself had some character. The staff were polite. Breakfast was adequate. Excellent value.
Review 139:Parking - we were lucky to find a spot outside the hotel but is luck of the draw as to whether that's possible Ensuite bathroom very small but met our needs for one night
Review 140:Value for money Helpful staff - we had to leave at 8:30 when breakfast began so the kitchen staff made us a bacon sandwich (to go) with some juice :) Quiet location On the beach
Review 141:Everything. It was dangerous. Fire alarm goes off at 3am. Residents don't evacuate as they're used to it. Window in room 9 doesn't open and you have to be 6' tall to open the door.Smell of raw sewage. You have to pay when you arrive. Says it all. We didn't risk breakfast.
Review 142:Nothing
