Reviews for Swallow Cottage

Review 1:It was a bit tricky to find, the postcode is close but not accurate.

Review 2:Perfect for a couple or young family..love the log fire and that pets are allowed.

Review 3:The only negative we had was the cleanliness of the plates etc in the kitchen. However I think it was more of a case that they hadn't been washed properly by whoever had previously used them! Everywhere else especially the bedrooms were extremely clean.

Review 4:The owner Wayne greeted us on arrival and was extremely helpful and friendly. The cottage is over 500 years old and has great character. A lovely little cottage with everything you need to enjoy a break away from the hustle and bustle of every day life! We travelled as a family with small children and would definitely return.

Review 5:Swallow Cottage was a gem to find and the 2 nights we spent there were absolutely wonderful with the peace and quite that came every morning and evening. Thank you to Wayne for your welcome and I would recommend Swallow Cottage to anyone staying in Derbyshire for an authentic near 500 year old cottage experience

Review 6:Lovely little cottage in a rural setting. Wayne was very welcoming and was happy to help us with anything we needed. It was very festive with lots of Christmas lights which my daughter loved.

Review 7:The stairs were ripe for a fall. Children and stairs - perhaps not. A lack of hooks and shelves i.e. bathroom, becomes annoying. But all in all a good place to stay.

Review 8:Wayne was excellent and a good host. Bed was very comfortable. Accom was clean and functional.

Review 9:No one to greet us on arrival the property was just left open for us to find & it was dirty because it had not been cleaned since the last occupant.

Review 10:Shower was a bit temperamental. Mind your head on the low door frames!!

Review 11:Cosy cottage with traditional beams and all the amenities we needed. Made to feel very welcome by the owner who even sponsored us for our charity walk! Only spent one night but would come back again for longer.

Review 12:Nothing

Review 13:Cottage has character and great views, all facilities in cottage you need for a break. Plenty of walks and places to visit in easy reach. Owner very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Review 14:Nothing really. Road up to house might be difficult in bad weather.

Review 15:Lovely little cottage in a beautiful setting. Very friendly and helpful owner who really helped to make our day enjoyable.

Review 16:The smell of damp is strong, but to be expected in a property of this age. The heaters soon warm it up and get rid of the smell. It might be an idea to provide liquid soap in the bathroom and extra towels, and maybe leave a bottle of washing up liquid in the kitchen. The only other negative was having to buy our own wood and kindling for the fire. These should be provided in the winter.

Review 17:The location, view and style of property were all beautiful. The log fire was a treat, the cottage was cosy and quaint and well equipped. Being able to take the dog was a great bonus and it was one of the few places I could find that would allow one night booking. Most places are 2 nights minimum and we did not want to be away from our baby for that long, so this place was a real find for us. We loved it and have already booked to go back in April.

Review 18:Hard to find and no sign outside property. Access is via very narrow roads up steep hill. Smelt of damp but understandable as cottage is 500 years old! Electric heaters only (and option to light fire). Although everything was there it was quite dated and as pets are allowed the floors were not that clean.

Review 19:Spectacular views and lovely open fireplace. Lots of character. Very quiet as only fields and sheep nearby!

Review 20:Very friendly and helpful owner. Everything we needed, lovely stay.

Review 21:Wayne was very welcoming and attentive at all the right times. The cottage was fantastic and every thing that we wanted from a cottage of this sort.

Review 22:The cottage was beautiful. Our welcome buy the owner was as warm and friendly as the cottage itself.

Review 23:Lovely little cottage, very quiet, comfortable stay, child friendly. Owner helpful and friendly. Would stay again.
