Reviews for L'Ours Blanc
Review 1:It would have been nice to have a front facing room but this did not detract from the enjoyment of the holiday.
Review 2:The friendly hosts who were happy to converse in French (unusual in Morzine!) and swapped our room to save money as my husband was not able to come at last minute.
Review 3:We went half board in the end and the food was excellent, need to go on a diet now...
Review 4:Everything...good for families, bikers, solo travellers We look forward to our next visit Dinner was an excellent surprise, great cooking every night
Review 5:Slightly out the centre but only 10 min walk to super M lift and bus stop close by.
Review 6:Great little B&B, rooms were lovely with an alpine lodge feel that appeared recently updated. Great continental breakfast to set you up for a day on the mountain and great view over Morzine.
Review 7:Bit of a walk to the main lift. Maybe 10min. Would try and find somewhere closer next time. Would have probably had to pay more to be closer. Sometimes you had to look for staff in the later hours. Not so good sound insulation between rooms.
Review 8:Very clean and tidy. Bathroom well finished. Power shower. Heated towel rail. Great view. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall very good. Didn't use the drying room or the sauna.
Review 9:The room and facilities were not in anyway similar to the web site it was dated and access to the room was like going through a series of outbuildings very disappointing
Review 10:Tea and coffee facilities in the room would have been a good addition;
Review 11:the food was fantastic, lovely family running the business. Staff were excellent. A little out of town but just five min walk over the bridge to the main street
Review 12:French drainage smell as we were annexed to ground floor of main hotel. Small double bed against the wall.
Review 13:Available when we needed it. Private. Quiet. Decent sized living area .
Review 14:DRINKS AT THE HOTEL BAR & EVENING MEAL WERE QUITE EXPENSIVE.
Review 15:THE STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY, CLEAN & TIDY HOTEL.GOOD LOCATION, SHORT WALK INTO TOWN OVER SUSPENSION BRIDGE.
Review 16:A very welcoming, friendly and helpful hotel and staff. The room though not huge was clean and comfortable with free wifi. We had a set 4 course dinner. The good quality french food was excellent. A ten minute walk to lifts. Leave skis and boots overnight in a depot in the shop and walk home and around in comfortable footwear. The ski bus passes near the hotel.
Review 17:Slightly far from the lift but not a problem as you can leave stuff near the lift at the hire shop.
Review 18:The food was absolutely fantastic and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Great value for money.
Review 19:Hosts and staff were very welcoming, hospitable, very hard working. Nothing was too much trouble. All service was very efficient and friendly. We would definitely return.
Review 20:Slightly longer walk to Pleney lift but used the small train linking the two main lifts which was fine.
Review 21:Really comfortable base for great skiing holiday. Food excellent. Easy 10 min walk to Super Morzine lift - stored skis/boots here.
Review 22:Food is the best hotel food I've ever had, staff are super friendly. They even changed our booking after we needed to check out a day early, so we saved a bit of money!
Review 23:10 mins from Super Morzine lift - so rent a locker in the centre to leave your skis and boots there, and then the walk back is much more pleasant
Review 24:The hotel has been run by the same family for three generations - they are really committed to helping your stay be comfortable. Breakfast is good to set up the day, and sauna downstairs helps to relax at the end of the day.
Review 25:Tiny bit far from slopes but ok if you leave your boots in the rental shop the hotel has an arrangement with or you drive to ardent nearby and access port de soleil from there
Review 26:Excellent staff. Run by husband wife team. Very helpful. Clean. You get what you pay for. Genuine honest hotel
Review 27:If you had young children the walk to the super morzine lift would be tough in ski boots. However the proximity of the hotel to the bus stop to get the lift up to Avoriaz from Ardent was good.
Review 28:I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The staff are excellent, the breakfast was great, the room was lovely, the shower was awesome, it was a great place to stay!
Review 29:Poor breakfast selection, I struggled to find €10 worth on the table. The reception really smells, obviously the sauna underneath is never used. It's not in a central or handy position at all, yet it is still walkable within 15mins.
Review 30:Most staff fantastic. Room very comfortable and clean. Lots of heating, hot water and wifi.
Review 31:WiFi reception in my room was terrible. Room was very hot and radiators not easy to control. (To be fair I'd rather be to hot than too cold)
Review 32:Perfect spot for a short break. Great breakfast spread. Clean room, serviced every day. Lovely staff. Free wifi was available. Would deff go back again
Review 33:Short walk to the lifts but a pain with skis and boots everyday so make sure you leave the skis and boots at the ski lockers in town. They have an arrangment with one of the shops even if its your own equipment.
Review 34:Friendly, Relaxed,Lovely rooms and excellent food. Great staff and wonderfull owners. One of the best hotels ive ever stayed in.
Review 35:Very well run family hotel and although some of the rooms need updating it did not detract from our stay. The staff were very helpful and worked very hard to make our stay go well. Food was excellent and plentiful and with 4 courses you were never going to go hungry. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would not hesitate to recommend staying at this hotel.
Review 36:no place to sit and chill out with a drink. pool could have been made to look a bit more inviting.
Review 37:location, outside of the town was spot on, with the town just a short walk away but far enough away to not hear the noise!! very clean rooms, great Wifi and great service at Breakfast
Review 38:We especially liked how clean and functional the hotel was. Great new bathrooms with excellent showers. Friendly service, just perfect really and only a short walk into town, just right for stretching the legs.
Review 39:The weather.
Review 40:Admittedly it was a quiet week but the staff were really friendly and they made a real difference to our stay. The room was small but great value with a nice new, modern bathroom & toilet and a nice covered balcony to sit out on with a lovely view. Breakfast was the usual continental affair (including ham, cheese and boiled eggs) but evening meals were great, 3 courses, local dishes with a cheese course if you wanted it too. The dining/breakfast room has lovely views too. They also keep your wine for you if you want to finish your bottle the next day. Location is great for a summer break, a nice quiet location and a short walk into town across the bridge. There was ample parking while we were there but it was a quiet week. Would definitely stay there again. I quite fancy staying here in the winter but I wouldn't want to walk to the lifts in ski boots from here. I would probably drive round to Ardent or Prodains in the mornings or find a ski shop in town to dump my skis & boots.
Review 41:A bit too far from town centre
Review 42:Staff lovely and room sizes good
Review 43:Excellent service, friendly staff and the food was great especially the evening meals
Review 44:Not enough snow :)
Review 45:Food is excellent, staff are friendly and the rooms are clean an nicely furnished.
Review 46:Nothing
Review 47:Lovely location, friendly, helpful staff, bike friendly hotel
Review 48:Accommodating staff who were willing to help arrange my check in and check out
Review 49:Lovely stay, bedroom was just refurbished. Brilliant value for money. Will stay here again.
Review 50:Fire alarm went off at 11.00 at night, but luckily it was a false alarm
Review 51:Views, and bike storage
Review 52:The walk to the lift in ski boots with skis.
Review 53:The food and the staff.
Review 54:Had to come home
Review 55:See above, plus room very comfortable
Review 56:It was all very acceptable
Review 57:Clean .great views .good helpful staff. Simple good food. And dont forget the cheese trolly..
Review 58:Evening meal was very basic, not enough plug sockets in the room
Review 59:Good accomodation, comfy bed, constant hot water, friendly helpful staff
Review 60:the walk back each day!
Review 61:staff were fantastic and the food was delicious - simple menu but really tasty
Review 62:Absolutely perfect location for our skiing trip. Family run hotel- excellent food and hospitality.
Review 63:- 10 min. walk from the centre - poor food at the dinner regarding for the price of half-board
Review 64:room clean and comfortable nice breakfast
Review 65:Low ceiling on stairs for someone over 6ft was a hazard!!!!
Review 66:Staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. Accommodation was clean and well maintained.
Review 67:Car park was always available during our stay. Balcony faced the sun and the view was good.
Review 68:Value for money Comfort Welcoming staff
Review 69:Budget but not too far from main lifts and solid wi fi! Does the job without breaking the bank
Review 70:Excellent recently refurbished room. Nice an peaceful
Review 71:nothing
Review 72:great place, location and staff
Review 73:Breakfast was very poor and the bad smell at lobby
Review 74:Really friendly family run hotel. We had an excellent skiing holiday staying here
Review 75:friendly and approachable owners and generous size traditional meals
Review 76:No shower
Review 77:Good Wifi Helpful Staff Clean Rooms Comfortable Beds Family owned atmosphere
Review 78:Excellent location for mountain biking in the Portes du Soleil. Bike room. Bike wash.
Review 79:Very helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble, nice room and good bar area. Really good views from the balcony. Very comfortable and homely.
Review 80:Not a big issue, but our room was quite small for a twin
Review 81:All of it, close to all the lifts, and town centre via the footbridge. The food was great, and the staff were great. Would stay again.
Review 82:Some flexibility for the time of the dinner would be appreciated ( an option for the earlier dinner then 19.30)
Review 83:A very nice hotel, comfortable beds and very good food. The owners' very kind even agreed to cook pasta for the smaller child. Much appreciated.
Review 84:Nothing.
Review 85:This is a lovely, family run hotel. Admittedly it is a 10 minute walk from the Super Morzine, but you can leave your gear in a super locker at Huberts (20% discount through hotel and top quality gear) by the lift and the short walk is a good warm up. The food at the hotel is excellent and they are very accommodating for any special dietary needs. The staff were all very helpful and the cosy bar a great place to meet friends. An excellent hotel, great value for money - hopefully we will be back.
Review 86:- Dinner (optional) was nog very special, you can better go to a restaurant in the neighbourhood - Ask for a good coffee from their professional machine! - Beds quite small for tall people
Review 87:- Location very good (between two ski areas) - Short distance to lift - Breakfast good quality - Nice owners! - Well equiped, clean and modern hotel room - Good price-quality!
Review 88:The walls were a little thin however it wasn't too much of a problem because when some other guests were making noise at 2 in the morning the manager asked them to be quiet which they did.
Review 89:The best way to get to the ski slopes was to get the bus to Avoriaz instead of walking of the bridge to super Morzine.
Review 90:It's too far to carry skis and boots but at Intersport we were able to store them overnight which was a great help.
Review 91:The owners were extremely helpful, the food was simple but good, the accommodation was clean and the room was a good size. It is within reasonable walking distance of the Super Morzine lift and the town centre.
Review 92:everything from the view, to the room itself along with the bathroom. both of which felt new and had plenty of neat features like automatic blinds triggered by a switch near the bed to a holder in the shower that holds your beer!
Review 93:Wifi was a bit unreliable and slow in evening when everyone trying to use, but wasn't expecting wifi so minor grumble
Review 94:We had a room in the annex which was a good size and had a balcony with excellent views. It was warm and had a bath which was lovely after a day on the ski slopes. Food was excellent and staff really friendly, hard working and helpful. Bar area very friendly and other residents very friendly. Not too far from super morzine bubble (10 mins) but a bit of a walk to plenny bubble (20 mins), but you can catch the free little train between bubble lifts. You get a discount when hiring from Huberts sports which is close to super morzine bubble and has heated lockers to leave skis etc. Great value and recommended, and would go back
Review 95:Wifi signal was intermittent in the room but fine when down in the lobby.
Review 96:The hotel was very welcoming. The rooms were clean and modern with electronic shutters. Highly recommend this hotel. 10 mins walk to the church by dixie bar, and ten minutes walk to the centre of town across the footbridge. Amazing views across the valley too!
Review 97:Bit of a trek into town for skiing (Super Morzine is just about accessible by foot with ski boots on carrying skis, however ski buses to Ardent and town are quite close), boot /ski room could do with a refit, sauna room smells of cabbage (so nobody uses it). Don't let this put you off though, we had a great time!
Review 98:Friendly staff, good food, comfy beds (but firm), bathroom water was always hot, reasonable bar prices, very clean, beds made up every day, linen changed regularly, relaxed safe environment for kids, good price for what you get.
Review 99:Very friendly and helpfull staff, they really have personal attention for their guests. The marvelous view on the surrounding mountains. The location of the hotel being close enough to Morzine to walk to the center/facilities but far enough to enjoy the calm surroundings. And we really enjoyed the dinners that were reasonably priced.
Review 100:This is a lovely hotel, in a quiet location but within easy walking distance of the town. The rooms are clean, well appointed and with wonderful views. The facilities are excellent and the staff extremely friendly. I would recommend it highly to families, couples and friends alike.
Review 101:Swimming pool was not open. Said open in summer and we were there late June. No atmosphere.
Review 102:Location was lovely. Short walk in to town. Fantastic market. Room was good, breakfast was self service. Town was very quiet in the evenings.
Review 103:Excellent staff who went out of their way to be helpful. Beautiful surroundings, relaxing, lovely rooms and facilities. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 104:I had to think long before I found something: Food smell in the evening from the kitchen at the corridors but not in the rooms. Yet again this is a small, family-run hotel where the food smell gave it a bit of cosy toch.
Review 105:15 min walk to Morzine centre and to the lifts. No bus service but not a big deal. Breakfast is good and selection of food is good. Our room was quiet at the mountain side. Staff are friendly and relaxed.
Review 106:Very nice couple that ran the hotel. Very friendly and extremely helpful. Whilst rooms were small and quite basic they were clean and the beds were very comfortable
Review 107:The location - over 1km from nearest ski lift although publicity says500m. The room was very small. The bathroom hardly functioned - brokentoilet, leaking shower screen, handshower only, sink tap very loose.Expensive.
Review 108:The hotel was clean. Check in and check out were efficient.
Review 109:Great place to stay - you feel at home the very first moment you come into your room. The staff is super friendly and attentive. Dinners make you want to stay at home tonight))) Very pleasant mountain view from the balcony. The cable car station is a 10-minute walk away from the hotel. Location lets you enjoy the beautiful calm area after skiing and having fun in a noisy center of Morzine.
Review 110:The ski boot room was not very warm and snowboard boots did not dry that well over night.
Review 111:Nothing was too much trouble for the couple who ran the hotel - they did everything possible top make our stay comfortable.
Review 112:Bath/shower facility in our room could've been better. Only oneplug socket in our room. With all the devices that need chargingnowadays this is simply not enough.
Review 113:Great food, friendly staff. Ideal for ski holidays, a personal hotel.
Review 114:Found the buses a bit confusing.
Review 115:Very clean, comfortable and friendly. We enjoyed the walk to and from the town across the footbridge which we did many times. An easy route for the Super Morzine bubble, or to take little train from there to La Pleney.
Review 116:No spare roll of toilet paper supplied when cleaning rooms. I had to ask for toilet paper twice in the morning before room service came. Parking can be a juggle in high season. Average breakfast & always the same.
Review 117:Location is great. Polite staff.
Review 118:Beds are a bit small.
Review 119:Lovely family run Hotel, food every evening was exceptional and there was no need to concider going out. Nice clean rooms and a nice bar. Stayed two weeks earlier in the Savoy in Maribel and cost a lot more but was it really that much better? This place is a little hidden treasure. Highly recommended. Just remember if you hire ski's leave them at the hire shop and make the walk in your shoes.
Review 120:Beds were a little small (singles) with rock hard pillows! Fortunately there were decorative cushions on the bed that were much more comfy :-) It's a bit of a walk to the town centre (across a scary high suspension footbridge) and to the Morzine / Les Gets ski lifts (about 10-15mins) which after a hard day's skiing was a little tough on the legs, there is a bus though if you are willing to wait for it.
Review 121:Lovely friendly staff, good food and everything was kept very clean. The hotel felt very safe too. A very quiet area due to it being just outside of the main town centre across the suspension footbridge...see didn't like!
Review 122:Hotel was very welcoming. Rooms warm and clean. Dinner was a 4 course set menu each night, quality of food was fantastic. Buffet breakfast each morning. Staff couldn't do enough to help you.
Review 123:Decor a bit worn in rooms, but acceptable.
Review 124:Good location 15min walk to town. Great views from balcony. Had earlyflight so had to leave before breakfast so was left a tray to helpourself in morning, very good. Helpful friendly staff andmanager/owner.
