Neige et Roc descritpion

Located 30 minutes from Thonon-les-Bains and approximately 1 hour from the Swiss border, the Neige Roc hotel was built in 1905 by the Richard family; it is now a cozy and charming 3-star hotel.
During winter the Neige-Roc hotel benefits from an ideal location right next to the cable car station that brings you up to the world renowned ski resort of Avoriaz.
From here you will be able to ski over 400 miles of trails linking resorts in France and Switzerland. This area is called 'Portes du Soleil' and it is the biggest skiable domain in the world! During summer the Neige-Roc hotel is situated in the midst of nature, in a peaceful and wonderful landscape - the pastures of the French Alps.
Furthermore, for our more sporty guests, the area is the departure point for numerous walks and mountain biking trails. All along the trails you will encounter our typical French farms and chalets dotted amidst the alpine flora and fauna.

Reviews for Neige et Roc

Review 1:Delightful staff, exceptionally helpful and welcoming. Food excellent, while the in house equipment rental was first class. Its position so close to the high-speed cable-car to Avoriaz, gives all the benefits but none of the drawbacks of staying in a purpose-built resort.

Review 2:wifi in room poor. evening meal selection limited.

Review 3:great for a few days away. great link to avoriaz but with the feel of being in 'real france'. would defo go again and recommend.

Review 4:Nothing really to complain about. The wi fi didn't work, but that wasn't a hardship. Overall, a pleasant stay and I would stay again.

Review 5:The location is fantastic for the Proadains lift. The hotel is very quiet and has a relaxed atmosphere.

Review 6:The half board is a con as you have no choice whatsoever and if you change ( for instance if you don't eat fish) they charge you full price of whatever else you have

Review 7:Checking out!

Review 8:Bed was not a double but two twin, duvet was just about the size of the beds so really needed to sleep in the middle to avoid drafts but this was uncomfortable. Wifi was variable and had to keep logging in.

Review 9:Loved areas to sit and relax in the evening. Regular bus to/from Morzine until 9pm, pleasant 10/15 min journey. Skiing back to the hotel in the evening was great.

Review 10:Very nice experience overall. Just a minor incident - asked guy on the reception to put some boiled water in my thermos late in the evening to make some tea for sore throat. He did it but it was clear that he is pretty annoyed to do that. A bit weird for expensive 4* hotel. But all other staff was very friendly and helpful . And yes- wifi is very slow

Review 11:Hotel itself is lovely old building. Very well decorated and cozy. Location is perfect meters from the new main lift to Avoriaz which works until late so you are connected. Good food , all facilities, lovely to stay. Not cheap but worth it. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 12:Food was average at best. The chef should stick to cooking local cuisine rather than inventing dishes which were bland and not particularly tasty.

Review 13:great location for ski lifts Friendly, helpful staff Good food

Review 14:the location

Review 15:Twin beds pushed together .

Review 16:Location , food and ambience.

Review 17:the bed

Review 18:the saner

Review 19:Food wasn't as good as we'd hoped and the beds weren't great

Review 20:Great staff, great location

Review 21:Very bad wifi

Review 22:Lovely small hotel warm and cosy with good boot room and access to ski lift

Review 23:Nothing really.

Review 24:Kitchen is superb. Layout of rooms are good. Bed is comfortable. Shower design is intelligent.

Review 25:In summer Is a little far away (all near by restaurant are closed)

Review 26:Good food and bed room

Review 27:More like 3* thant 4*; Room very small; In the room no a glasses of water to drink; Very slow Wi-Fi; Breakfast to expensive, a small selection of dishes; till Avoriaz is 600m with the lift (gandola works to 9pm), with a car about 10km, the location is isolated in the night.

Review 28:Friendly staff; At breakfeast delicious only croissants.

Review 29:You have to get a taxi home from Morzine after 19.45 if you fancy venturing out in the evening, but that was not a big problem.

Review 30:Friendly, efficient and helpful staff. Dinner was excellent. The ski lift to Avoriaz was brilliant and so handy. Water pressure and heat were great. Décor was in keeping with the alps.

Review 31:The hotel is situated between Avouriaz and Morzine, and as such theres not much around the immedaite area to do. If you dont all ski in your party, Avouriaz is difficult to negogiate unless you use the horse taxis.

Review 32:The hotel was very comfortable, and the staff very helpful. The Hotel was in a good location, just 50 metres from the gonadola which takes you to the bottom of Avouriaz, then if you dont ski, its a bit of a walk or a horse drawn carriage to the centre of town. The food in the hotel is good, a little expensive. The facilities provided at the hotel are excellent.

Review 33:No real downside, except rooms not very spacious but this was not an issue given everything else so good.

Review 34:Food was excellent, like going out to a gourmet restaurant svery night. Hotel was traditional alpine style and staff very friendly and helpful and great location.

Review 35:Rooms are small - I could not accommodate my family in a triple room so I had to take second one for my daughter. Overpriced.

Review 36:Very good location just next to the lift. Staff is friendly.

Review 37:Room adequate size, but a bit small Outside skiing areas so need to get bus or cable car for facilities

Review 38:Quiet location Cleanliness of hotel Friendly staff Good quality restaurant

Review 39:Small rooms despite being call 'superior'. Jacuzzi not working, additional cost of breakfast. No tea/coffee in room.Only French tv channels despite stating 'sat tv'.

Review 40:location, welcoming nature of staff. Alpine feel to building design.

Review 41:The jacuzzi could have been hotter!

Review 42:The staff were very helpful and accommodating, even though we checked in at 1am and they also sorted out our lift passes as well as a late departure on our last day so we could keep skiing. The location of the hotel is excellent, very convenient. We loved the restaurant too and the spa facilities were great.

Review 43:Extremely expensive for what it is. If you think you're paying forthis being a hotel "de charme" then go elsewhere. Customersare treated like they are an inconvenience. Food is suspect anddon't even bother to try to complain otherwise the owner willhappily threaten to kick you out of the hotel. Stayed in hundreds ofhotels, but this is the worst treatment we've ever had. Location isgood for the ski lifts, but that doesn't make up for zero nightlifenearby or the awful customer service. &Quot;4*" and"charme" are misrepresentations - be warned!

Review 44:Close to lifts up to Avoriaz and ski back to hotel.

Review 45:not much

Review 46:good service lovely food good position owners friendly lovely swim pool nice bar good sauna ski in ski out for skiers cable car close chair lift close difficult to find anything to critisize bedrooms could benefit from a few more coat hooks

Review 47:I liked food in the hotel. It was really surprised for me find gourmet cusine there. Nice and helpfully staff of the hotel including owners who works with other employers.

Review 48:Between Morzine & Avorias, but free bus to town.

Review 49:Short walk to cable car, ski down to Hotel. Good food, comfortable hotel, helpful staff, great location.

Review 50:Room was over heated. Towels were very poor quality Fresh fruit and fresh orange juice would have been preferable at breakfast No gluten free bread or breakfast cereals available, even though hotel were alerted in advance to this requirement

Review 51:Lovely interior decor and cosy restaurant

Review 52:The room was tiny. If you were a large person you would find difficultyin using the small toilet room. Was 4 star hotel, and we were full boardbut no choice only one meal was offered. Too far away from the town .Would have to drive for a meal in the evening

Review 53:It was close to the slopes

Review 54:Jacuzzi is not available for small kids. We did not like the location, as to go to Avoriaz you need to take a teleferic

Review 55:Nice room, cozy facilities Swimming pool

Review 56:Breakfast - not quite enough food Lounge area - a bit more atmosphere eg music / cd?
