Reviews for Lakeside Park Hotel & Spa
Review 1:Receptionist could have been more welcoming. Waiting staff in restaurant were disorganised. Shower in ladies changing room could have been cleaner.
Review 2:Great location. Spa staff were lovely. Good menu in restaurant.
Review 3:Staff seemed a little indifferent not particularly welcoming. Breakfast staff had to be roused from behind serving hatch chatting to each other.
Review 4:Location and pool
Review 5:We had a lovely stay at the hotel! Facilities were excellent and the restaurant was great. Also it was lovely of the hotel to upgrade us to a suite as our first anniversary present. Would definetly reccomend this hotel and stay again!
Review 6:Restaurant service slow. One day waited an hour for main course to be delivered
Review 7:We booked a room with special facilities for disabled guests. The room was one of the best we have ever experienced. Restaurant food superb
Review 8:English Hotels are very Hit and Miss... part of the service can be "Hit", but the rest can be a total "Miss". This establishment was a "Hit" all the way! So, if you are going to the Isle of Wight, stop searching for anywhere else and stay here. Just one tip, ensure you book your evening meal in the Restaurant as it can be busy.
Review 9:I didn't think the Spa /pool was very nice, changing rooms very poor & steam room not that clean
Review 10:The food was excellent and the room was very nice and all staff helpful
Review 11:Expensive considering the spa was not that great. Uninviting pool, small jacuzzi and steam room not working properly. A few loungers/chairs but not many and not comfy.
Review 12:Room was nice - although stated it would either overlook lake or countryside and ours overlooked the Carpark! Bed comfy, bathroom was very nice. Breakfast was a good choice of buffet and hot
Review 13:Lack of facilities in grounds. This hotel needs an outdoor pool with comfortable seating and parasols in the spacious grounds. At the moment they provide very little.
Review 14:The attitude of staff and excellent chef
Review 15:The silly room cards that kept becoming wiped if anywhere near a mobile phone. Only a hassle when you arrive back with a sleeping toddler & had to run back to reception to sort it out.
Review 16:The wonderful staff- very helpful & kind The gorgeous views over the lake. Our little one loved seeing the cows. Lovely that she could run on the grass outside our room. The dinners were delicious.
Review 17:Inability to access my room at when coming back to your hotel at 2am due to the card key not working and then the lack of a member of staff being available at reception to assist or even answering the number given for assistance on the card on the reception counter
Review 18:Pool, sauna, room and evening menu.
Review 19:booked for two adults and one child. At check in, extra money was required for the child's bed, it is not clear when you book.
Review 20:Breakfast buffet, comfortable room, good location to attractions and ferry
Review 21:hotel very clean and bright, staff very helpful and pleasant breakfast ,no complaints, dinner the previous evening i felt slightly disappointing---dressed crab which was ver tasteful but accompanied with a massive green salad which was impossible to finish consisting of lettuce and peppers
Review 22:Dinner at the hotel was a bit hit and miss with sunday night being particularly busy.
Review 23:Great location for accessing the whole of the island. The staff were very welcoming and did their best to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. The spa is definitely worth a visit! Afternoon tea and breakfast are defintiely worth it!
Review 24:Restaurant said they stop serving at 2130 but when we arrived to eat at 2120 they questioned if food is available. Breakfast stops at 11am on sunday but stopped at 1030.
Review 25:The facilities were very good. Staff were very helpful.
Review 26:Perhaps more selection in the restaurant. Maybe se "simple" food so you can kick back in the bar and relax rather than a more formal meal
Review 27:The staff were excellent. Friendly and caring and not a bit false.
Review 28:One of the two rooms smelt slightly mildewy which isn't a massive issue I suppose. The bigger issue is that the hotel seems to be set up exclusively to host weddings, conferences, and posh nights out for big groups in the restaurant. If that's not the purpose of your visit then I'd look elsewhere. The restaurant wouldn't seat us on a Saturday night because they had two big groups in totalling 30 people in a restaurant of 150 covers and not enough staff to accommodate any more people. I'm sorry, but if you can't get a sandwich and a pint at 7 on a Saturday night then it shouldn't describe itself as a four star hotel. The spa also has rules about the hours kids are allowed in the pool - which totals two hours a day during which they are tolerated. The foreign staff were lovely and courteous but the British staff seemed to be labouring under the false assumption that they were working in a much more salubrious establishment than is the fact.
Review 29:Modern hotel with nice big rooms. Accommodated our request for adjoining rooms and a cot for the baby. Very close to the ferry port.
Review 30:Lacking in any kind of atmosphere, Brasserie eating area bland and cold. Food of average quality for the price charged.
Review 31:Visiting the area , then travel to cowes
Review 32:Rooms were very clean and a good size. Staff were very welcoming and we had a lovely time. Our little boy enjoyed running around the hotel, and loved looking over the lake at the ducks and boats in the background. Breakfast was very good, especially the poached eggs. The hotel is in a great location for exploring.
Review 33:Steam room broken for the duration of the stay which was something we were hoping to use.
Review 34:Lovely and peaceful and you can get around with a bus stop just outside if you don't have a car.
Review 35:If I had to complain. The massage and pedicure facilities/staff were very average and thus expensive for what you actually got. The hot tub needs a step to get in and out, as the edge is high for someone like me with a dicky hip. The Brasserie. Food was average for a 4☆ hotel. Bit disappointed as we would have liked to have used it more than than we did.
Review 36:Nice hotel location and friendly, helpful staff. There was a room problem as it was not what I had believed I had booked three months ago ( a family room )and we were staying there for 7 days. However, Steven the hotel Manager quickly rectified mattters and we were very happy with what was offered to us as a room alternative. Breakfast selection was good as was the service.
Review 37:Only because I'm a stickler for details- there was the odd cobweb here and there, and some grouting issues between some tiles in the bathroom- but I'm really just knitpicking in all honesty.
Review 38:Great location for getting round the IOW, friendly and attentive staff, comfortable room, our 10-week old boy seemed to enjoy it so all in all a very nice hotel- can definitely recommend!
Review 39:We absolutely loved the hotel, the staff was were so friendly, the evening meal was superb. The surroundings were heavenly. It exceeded our expectations in every way!!
Review 40:For the standard of hotel one would expect an iron and ironing board and possibly a trouser press in the room. They were not but on request an iron and ironing board were quickly supplied through reception.
Review 41:A very pleasant location and close by two useful Bus routes giving easy access to Ryde, Newport, Cowes and Osborne House. Food excellent and service friendly and efficient.
Review 42:- no concern
Review 43:- nice swimming pool area with Sauna and jacuzzi; - really good wifi overall; - nice restaurant for dinner; - good breakfast; - really nice and quite area
Review 44:We were given the disabled room, with disabled bathroom. Since the whole bathroom was a shower room, the water was spilling everywhere and we were standing in poodle of water, when brushing our teeth or trying to use the toilet. Not very convenient.
Review 45:I liked the rooms, the hotel design and the spa.
Review 46:Complimentary water only on first day, although stayed 9 and considering tap water was rusty (iron deposits). Lack of Pay Per View movies. Room not vacuumed daily. ( some bits we dropped accidentally were left there whole time)
Review 47:Room decor was nice, bed comfortable and helpful staff. Grounds well maintained
Review 48:Two males on all the time we were there. There was no warmth or welcoming atmosphere from either of them. Very robotic/wooden.
Review 49:everything apart from the front reception.
Review 50:A little road noise when you sit out by the lake but you cannot hear it at all in the rooms or restaurant.
Review 51:The rooms were comfortable and stylish (not the usual corporate bland rooms). The beds were comfortable and bathrooms lovely. Everything was exceptionally clean. very impressed. The breakfasts were great and the restaurant is a lovely setting. The spa was lovely and the massage we had was so wonderful. All the staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. It is very close (2min) to the ferry port at fishbourne which is great but you don't get any of the noise at all. Close to the north of the island and osbourne house (at which we loved the private beach). The setting is lovely on the lake and it even had wildlife eg a heron.
Review 52:The location, the bedroom(spacious.clean, and well appointed) the dining area is very pleasant and the staff most attentive, the menu varied, well presented dishes and most palatable. There was a wedding on the Saturday but because the "social" rooms were so placed as to be well away from the bedrooms there was no disturbance from the party. We would definitely visit this hotel again.
Review 53:Slow service at dinner and food disappointing. Breakfast buffet lacking in choice. No rolls or choice of breads, no bananas, no cheese, no sultanas or similar for cereals. Also bedroom and bathroom lighting could have been brighter.
Review 54:Excellent parking. Staff always helpful and pleasant.
Review 55:Short on hanging space for clothes, room a little cramped. No gym.
Review 56:good location, decor, beds, pool, food, staff, parking, access - ground floor room with patio and view of lake. Nice beds and bedding, attractive furnishings. Restaurant has lots of light and views over the lake.
Review 57:N/A
Review 58:The food is excellent, location has great views and the staff are second to none. Great atmosphere in the hotel. Will certain visit again, God willing. :)
Review 59:Apart from the rain, nothing!
Review 60:The rooms were very modern, clean and comfortable, especially the bed. The view of the lake was lovely too. The spa facilities were great, with a clean and quiet pool, sauna, steam room and experience shower. The spa treatments were lovely - we managed to get two massages booked at the last minute. The restaurant was the highlight. The room itself is very modern, the food was delicious and excellent value for money (£19.95 for three courses) and the staff were attentive.
Review 61:The hotel has a nice spa but for a hotel of this age out in the countryside I would have hoped that it might have had a gym. A small disappointment but perhaps it might go into the hotel's long term planning
Review 62:Lovely hotel, modern and up to date in all respects with comfortable rooms, a good restaurant and outstanding views.
Review 63:The hotel was very convenient being minutes from Fishbourne Ferry Terminal. The hotel itself was quiet, comfortable & very relaxing. The room itself was large, clean & well appointed. In short everything we wanted in a short "child free" break
Review 64:Beds too soft. Lighting dim - Application of makeup extremely difficult. The main road extremely busy during the 'rush hour' - not easy to turn right from hotel .
Review 65:Room comfortable with views overlooking the lake.
Review 66:Nothing!
Review 67:Me and my boyfriend enjoyed our stay so much, we walked into the room to find a bottle of prosecco in ice, waiting for us, the spa facilities were lovely not to mention how lovely, friendly and helpful the staff were, breakfast was beautiful as was the rest of the food! Would definitely recommend to a friend!
Review 68:Our stay met expectations. The dinner and disco on the night were very good and the location so close to the ferry was excellent for a quick visit to the island.
Review 69:Bed was a twin and my side was high and hard husbands side was lumpy. Had a bad back when awoke. Also hotel room was cold and air con/heating system was complicated!!!!
Review 70:Love staying here. Only hotel in Brighton without chintz!!!!
Review 71:the room and bed was horrible couldn't sleep whole night.. will never recommend this.
Review 72:Staff were ok, location was good, the spa facilities were ok
Review 73:the only complaint we had, if you can call it a complaint, was the passageway walk to the restaurant was very cold to walk along
Review 74:the spa hotel offers everything you can wish for. good food , comfortable rooms . a lovely swimming pool and spa facilities.
Review 75:The breakfast was not hot as it was made in bulk first thing in the morning and left in the containers from start of breakfast until finish 2hrs later.
Review 76:The hotel is set in a lovely location, we use the hotel every time we visit the Isle of Wight..
Review 77:We had a fantastic stay. The hotel was clean and modern. Beautiful surroundings with a lovely lake and great for walks with the family. Staff were polite and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 78:Hotel was perfect could not fault it at all. Great buffet breakfast included with lovely views Very friendly staff could not do enough to help. Definitely come back.
Review 79:The only thing I could really fault was my spa treatment. I booked a week prior for a full body massage at £55 for 55 minutes. Unfortunately the only time they could fit me in was the same time I was due to checked in but I explained this and was told that wasn't a problem. At check in, I asked reception to call the spa and inform them of my arrival but that I would be a few minutes late. Again I was told that this wasn't a problem and the receptionist at the front desk even commented that the spa wasn't very busy that day, so I was shocked that after being only a few minutes late they knocked 25mins off my massage time! Although they did charge me £49.50, I definitely did not receive even 49 minutes of my 55 minute massage. Although my therapist was very nice, she spent the least time where I really needed it, despite asking me where she should focus on in my consultation (and I know this was not because of any miscommunication). Overall my massage was extremely unsatisfying. The pool was also much colder than I expected. Additionally, away from the spa side of things, the television system in our room seemed a little old fashioned but all worked fine so can't really complain
Review 80:Beautiful location and grounds, even in rainy November! Both dinner in the brasserie and breakfast were outstanding. Extremely comfy bed and lovely shower, too. Wish I could have stayed longer!
Review 81:I had the leek and potato soup as a snack, but it wasn't very warm and not all that tasty.
Review 82:Room was very comfortable and clean, with everything one could wish for in it. Breakfast was good, with a very good choice.
Review 83:First time in 8 years away from the kids and needed to visit somewhere new where we could ride our bicycles. Isle of Wight was great and the hotel was smart and affordable. Everything we needed and the staff in the bar and restaurant particularly professional.
Review 84:Everything about the hotel was good so nothing negative to report
Review 85:Quality of the bedrooms Quality of the breakfasts Location is amazing Car parking is very good
Review 86:Found it hard to find and missed turning as we arrived in the dark. After we booked ( specifically for the pool )we found the pool wasn't open for our grandson to use except at certain times. In the event we didn't have time to use it as the weather was excellent and I must say the restaurant was flexible about serving the child's menu later than specified in spite of what the rules stated! Therefore these facts did not spoil or lovely stay,
Review 87:The staff were flexible. I loved the patio and view of the lake. The food was lovely and promptly served. The room was extremely modern, luxurious and comfortable,
Review 88:The "Faulty Towers" moments which were reported but no explanation or apology received.
Review 89:The setting and design of outside landscaping and furniture in particular.
Review 90:Room on ground floor NOT lakeside view just a glimpse over grass bank. Person ill with cold serving food. Swimming pool changing rooms manky. Staff too busy no personal service. Cross this one off the list much nicer places also road noise.
Review 91:Signature massage
Review 92:Very relaxing and peaceful just what we needed. It was a bonus to wake up and have a beautiful view of the lake and countryside from our room. The staff were very helpful we would definitely go back.
Review 93:Friendly greeting on arrival. Lovely clean room over looking the lake. Good in-room facilities and spotless bathroom. Very comfy bed so had a fab night sleep! Pool area was clean but pool was smaller than I imagined but still nice. Breakfast was very nice and Sunday dinner set menu meal was also good! So all in all it was a very enjoyable stay
Review 94:A large tree trunk that blocks the view of oncoming traffic when exiting on to main road.
Review 95:Very easy access to all facilities. Even though they had a wedding to cope with the staff were most helpful. Surrounded by lovely views.
Review 96:The Spa treatments were ok but not great. I wouldnt have any treatments again.
Review 97:The hotel was very comfortable to stay at. It had everything I needed. The staff were all helpful, the food was great. When I return I will stay at this hotel.
Review 98:Breakfast a bit disappointing - had run out of croissants and when asked waitress said that we would have to wait 15-20 mins for more (a small quibble but not up to standard expected from rest of stay).
Review 99:Quiet location near to Fishbourne for ferry, easy to find; well-appointed room; lovely grounds at rear going down to lake; excellent receptionist.
Review 100:Beauty treatments felt a bit rushed and didn't seem to last for the time stated.
Review 101:Friendliness, service, location, room (had a suite), spaciousness.
Review 102:When sat up in bed the bed moved away from the wall which isn't a major issue just a little annoying.
Review 103:Lovely room with a large bathroom well finished. Setting was stunning. Very relaxed atmosphere. Pool and free spa facilities were clean and welcoming.
Review 104:Our room was very hot and there did not seem to be a way to control heat, other than leaving patio doors open, which was not possible as being ground floor. Found the indoor pool to be very chilly and couldn't stay in it.
Review 105:Stayed here following a birthday lunch party held here. Food was excellent, staff very good. Room was lovely with it's own patio and table and chairs facing the lake. The bed very comfortable with lovely bedding.
Review 106:Drinks are slightly expensive if I'm being really picky.
Review 107:Everything! Breakfast was lovely, greatly situated near fishbourne ferry port. Lovely spa and pool which was free to use to guests.
Review 108:oak tree on entrance gives limited view of the road and is quite dangerous when trying to get out
Review 109:The friendliness of the staff always helpful Restaurant very good and food excellent value for money
Review 110:Booking details missed ie no bed set up for child. The first room offered was smelly. The food from the dinner menu was so over salted the it was in-edible.
Review 111:Staff were very good eager to put things right. Breakfast was good.
Review 112:Obvious lack of staff training. We spoke to various young and vibrant staff who were charming but lacked knowledge of where menus were and other basics. We are certain that investment within the training of waitress's/waiters too embrace the skills available shall build confidence forming a solid base for potential to shine.
Review 113:Spa Comfort Attentive staff.
Review 114:The treatment I had was not as described in the Spa brochure and it was not as long as it should have been.
Review 115:Very good spa facilities, lovely views, comfortable room, breakfast included in the rate.
Review 116:Dying hanging baskets at the front. I would rather not see any as it gives the impression that the hotel is run down which is certainly not the case
Review 117:Staff we're very friendly. Room very clean spa facilities were good. Food came out very hot which I like. Overall really enjoyed our stay and would book again
Review 118:Doesnt seem to cater for residents who just want to just have a drink rather than a meal. There is no real bar and outside sitting area for drinks, all seems to be for the restuarant, loads of room and table and chairs everywhere but untidy and strange
Review 119:Rooms seemed recently updated and well done, nice venue.
Review 120:They do not have a computer for residents to use. I wanted to change my ferry to Portsmouth but could not do it without a pc. However the receptionist, a Philippines girl, was very helpful. She helped me to call the ferry company and sorted out everything for me.
Review 121:The staff are extremely helpful. The food is great. My mum and I had lobster for dinner and my little boy had chicken and veggie. They were all very tasty and fresh. The house champagne is very nice too. The bedroom is clean and spotless. The garden is massive. The lake view is very nice. My little boy ran and ran. He had a great time and same as my mum and myself. We will go back in August with other friends. Highly recommend!
Review 122:I felt that it was hitting above its weight with the price tag and 4-5* claims. Service in the restaurant was a little erratic, if friendly.
Review 123:Lovely staff, decent spa and pleasant pool.
Review 124:DVD Player in a Suite should be standard, we got one eventually. No Directory of telephone services, nothing to say who / what to dial for Room Service etc. Wifi was rubbish, our Dressing Gown wasn't replaced after day one, and the second bath towel the same the second day - reasonably minor quibbles though as overall very good.
Review 125:Staff were very good, room very nice, location very nice - overall had a super weekend and would certainly go back. Reception helped me arrange flowers for the day of our anniversary and were superb. Spa was also excellent.
Review 126:Generally a good hotel, breakfast was included with a great choice. The room was comfortable, nice view & very quiet location except for the cows.
Review 127:Wifi signal was woeful, it kept dropping out and when it returned it was just as weak. Shower pressure was not good. Cheap concentrate orange juice for breakfast, a pet hate. Get some squeezed juice, it's not expensive.
Review 128:Room was very well presented, everything was in good condition. Comfy beds and several different thicknesses of pillow. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Good breakfast.
Review 129:Nothing really - did not use spa so can not comment on using it, but it did seem excellent
Review 130:Virtually everything - staff, food, room and brasserie were all excellent
Review 131:Nothing
Review 132:Excellent facilities great position freely staff
Review 133:Staff were welcoming and did everything they could to make us and our infant comfortable. Really enjoyed the roast beef in the restaurant.
Review 134:Pity that there were not more opportunities for treatments. we were unable to book any at the time.
Review 135:Loved the Pool and spa facilities.
