Reviews for Cecil' hotel

Review 1:Paying everything in cash, no in house snacks / bar

Review 2:Very good staff, helped us getting a take away pizza since everything was closed (on a Saturday at 10.30pm). Parking in front of the hotel (free in the weekends)

Review 3:This one of the best 2 star hotels, I have ever stayed in. It has recently been renovated. The staff is friendly. The internet wireless connection is very good.

Review 4:The hotel isn't licenced to serve alcoholoc beverages: a good whiskey after the meal would have been great.

Review 5:Really fair value for money rate. Indoor garage. Excellent staff.

Review 6:20 minute walk to the centre. The facilities weren't great but what can you expect from a budget style Hotel?

Review 7:10/10 for value for money!!I usually stay in a 3 star minimum Hotel, this was my first time in a 2 star and obviously I was attracted by the price and the reviews. But basically you get what you pay for! This is a 2 star Hotel - staff really friendly and helpful, clean rooms, comfy bed, decent location not central but in a nice quiet area, car parking.

Review 8:All French and german tv channels. No tea and coffee facilities.

Review 9:We were allowed to check in early which was excellent after 4 days camping. Very helpful staff, comfortable room, could have done with an extra pillow. Smoking room with a balcony. 10 minutes from the city centre but very quiet.

Review 10:- Room was small - fine for an overnight stopover but not really big enough for family of four if staying longer - Free, off-street parking wasn't available (fine at weekend but may have been a problem during the week)

Review 11:- Very friendly, welcoming staff - Central location - Excellent breakfast - Clean room - Excellent value for money

Review 12:The bathroom needs some renovation. Mostly not clean, with fungi and rusty bits. Not the best piece of the hotel at all.

Review 13:A nice hotel, with friendly staff, and in the city centre of Metz. The rate of the room is basic and on top of it you have optionally breakfast and a private parking

Review 14:The family room was too small for a family and their luggage. The room was hot and stuffy (it was a very hot day when we stayed).

Review 15:very friendly staff. undercover parking available. Walking distance to centre of town. There were rollerblinds on the window.

Review 16:Wifi was slow for someone trying to work, and room was very warm - had to have fan on full to make it bearable

Review 17:Good location, nice staff and well priced

Review 18:The hotel has s good location, close to the railway station and sights. There are nice restaurants not far from the hotel. The parking is inside the building. The staff is very helpful. The breakfast is not very broad-ranging, but enough for morning meal

Review 19:I like to to prepare and drink coffee at once upon wake up, so I missed this possibility a little bit (no coffee maker in the room).

Review 20:A simple and friendly atmosphere, kind staff, very nice person at the registration desk, offer of museum tickets, tasty breakfast, good location.

Review 21:Close to the train station, and the old city. Staff was friendly, room was clean. It was just as advertised. P.S What a delight Metz is! Truly was not on my radar. So glad to have visited here.

Review 22:It wasn't that near the center of old town but that was OK, it wasn't a very long walk and I got to see more of the city

Review 23:My room was clean and comfortable, the staff were exceedingly attentive. They learned that I liked two pots of tea and prepared the second one without my asking. The breakfast was very nice with the addition of ham and sausage to the crossants and other pastries. It was very close to the RR station so i didn't have to drag my suitcase to far.

Review 24:I didn’t like so very much that one could enter by my window; and the closeness of the neighbours in the houses nearby

Review 25:The staff was friendly and helpful

Review 26:Nothing.

Review 27:Safe and clean. Efficient staff. No hassle with check-in, check-out, or extra request. Secure private parking right next door (at extra cost). Good breakfast (at extra cost). Good location. 10 minute walk to the center, easy to find by car, easy access to freeway. Good value for the money.

Review 28:Rooms would really benefit from air con... We went end October, and had a family room. It was warm! Would worry about mid summer!

Review 29:1. Location 2. Good breakfast 3. Off street parking - tight but fitted in a 4x4!!! 4. Staff great 5. Spotless 6. Room lovely

Review 30:Could be even closer to the historic centre (15 min walk).

Review 31:Very friendly and helpful staff, most of them even speaking English. Quiet location, quite near everything (few shops and restaurants next door).

Review 32:Special thanks to Natalie (owner), couldn't do enough for us. Friendly, helpful 100%, sorted us train times and costs for a train to Paris. She couldn't do enough for us. Recommend hotel to anyone staying in a Metz and would only ever stay here again!!

Review 33:The room was small with two double beds, one which was a small double. This was a "family room". We were two adults and two children who are still young enough to share without too many problems (8&6) but could be tricky with older children?

Review 34:Lovely friendly staff who spoke English. Good location but still quiet.

Review 35:Minor quibble: wireless internet connection was poor - needed to work in lobby.

Review 36:Quiet room: I had a room at the back of the hotel, so no street views but totally quiet. Staff: exceptionally helpful, friendly. Desk staff spoke English very well. Parking: caution, do not try to park in their interior garage with a medium to large sized vehicle!

Review 37:Garage quite difficult, but friendly staff dropping required coins intothe box .. same Price per day as Hotel garage

Review 38:Near to the City Center (800 m ca), good breakfast for 9,- Euro,

Review 39:The hotel was about a 10 minute walk from the centre one way and the station and Pompidou centre the other way. There was parking which was great and the rooms and showers were good.

Review 41:There was nothing to dislike!

Review 42:Pretty well everything; the owners were very helpful and friendly and the hotel provided facilities beyond its 2* rating. The bar was open throughout the day to provide drinks, both alcoholic and tea and coffee - chocolate cake with tea in the afternoon was a bonus. Our room was well equipped and quiet. The centre of Metz was 15 minutes stroll away. The owners obviously take pride in their hotel and in the service it provides and we would, without reservation, recommend the Cecil.

Review 43:The only problem was the heat! Not the hotel's fault and they did provide us with a fan but we needed a stronger one.

Review 44:The staff, their friendliness and attitude. They offered extended services such as car parking and even phoned ahead to book a table for a couple of elderly visitors. The room was nice and clean with room to sit at the desk.

Review 45:The decor will not be to everyone's taste. We were on the 4th floor. Very quiet, but yellow walls and red door frames in the hall? Rooms are much more neutral. Thank goodness! As you can probably tell, nothing seriously wrong with hotel.

And great bonus to have a garage at the hotel, owner was very helpful to direct us into the narrow entry. We enjoyed our stay very much, and would recommend this hotel for a stay in Metz!

Review 104:Access to parking may be quite narrow for big cars, bath separated only by curtain from the rest of the room

Review 105:Situated in the city centre (yet not too noisy), tidy and quiet, parking, comfortable beds

Review 106:- we did not take breakfast but breakfast corner does not look cosy. Plenty breakfast places in the city
